3221  Economy / Speculation / Re: Who has that limit order at 7 on bitcoinica? on: January 06, 2012, 07:03:45 PM
I gotta get on this bitconica, I would have shorted majorly at $7.20. I was going to come here and even write to people that you are crazy not to sell your bitcoins at $7 range now. Just set some limit orders to buy if your worried about it skyrocketing higher.
ок, but only after correction

Are you Google Translating from Russian?
from american maybe, or it's a synchronistic ID http://twitter.com/naima53

hey good call on the ru origines
Not, it not I, am the not woman...
What is _origines_ ??

oops sry dood, yep her profile didn't look like she'd really be in to (or even able to get her head around) Bitcoins

origines is where someone originates from, where they come from, their country

sry *origins

3223  Economy / Speculation / Re: I pussied out on: January 06, 2012, 05:46:27 PM
I got out late last night at $6.20, just because I was not going to be able to watch for 12 hours.

Now that the price has stabilized for a while, bought in again this morning at same price.

Feeling confident sentiment for another rally, up to $7.00.

^ good call

Thanks.

Since then I bought in at $6.20, set a sell price at $7.20, packed up and headed to the coffee shop turned on PC and saw the spike over $7, I was already cashed out!   The spikes are nice but it's feeling a little too volatile for me.

May sit this one out until tomorrow.  Have a sneaky suspicion we will trace back to $6.60 -$6.80, looking at trend lines.

How are you playing these crazy Bitcoin moves?

^ another good call
3224  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoinica: How it works on: January 06, 2012, 03:40:53 PM
I cancelled my request for a Mt.Gox BTC code after waiting for over 12 hrs & then just withdrew to my Mt.Gox deposit address (withdraw to wallet option) the funds had cleared there within 1 hr - sweet  Smiley
3225  Economy / Speculation / Re: CAUTION BITCOINICA USERS on: January 06, 2012, 01:54:25 PM
i find it very odd that we haven't heard from Zhou for a coupla days now.  and thats despite alot of negative talk besides mine flying around.  normally he is out defending vigorously any and all comments that even hint of problems.  is he hunkering down for something we're not aware about?  this unidirectional move may be causing problems.

Yep, this.  Hopefully we'll hear from him soon.

Another problem with Bitcoinica is the constant limit Gox puts on them for coupons in USD.  It's only a slight annoyance -- if I want to withdraw money from my Bitcoinica account and put it in Gox, I can exchange it for BTC on Bitcoinica and THEN Bitcoinica will issue me a Gox code for BTC with no problem. It's just kind of a hassle, and kind of curious.

um no you can't, at least not at the moment, they've reached their monthly Mt.Gox Btc code withdraw limit too, I've just waited over 12 hours & so cancelled & instead just withdrawn (withdraw to wallet) to my Mt.Gox deposit address - I think that this is correct, it was an hour ago & I'll edit this post to say when it clears, in an hour more I imagine, also as someone pointed out exchanging USD on bitcoinica for BTC means buying them at a premium of half the spread approx which ranged from 0.07 to 0.14 Btc over about the last 24hrs - actually it's not that bad just $10 for 100 Btc or $650 worth

Edit: yep np, sent in 2 parts, Btc cleared in to Gox in well under 2 hrs for a single Btc & in under 1 hr for the larger Btc balance - fast, clean & easy
Edit: corrected the price for bitcoinica's spread premium
3226  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Wealth Distribution (Bitcoinica data) on: January 06, 2012, 01:27:38 PM
I haven't read all this thread so excuse me if someone has done this already, here's the same list showing the % of the population holding a % of the wealth from wealthiest downwards, it's just an inverse of Zhou's stats which I hope is a valid thing to do

3228  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoinica: How it works on: January 06, 2012, 11:13:21 AM
seems a little odd to me we haven't heard from Zhou for a while.  has anyone been able to remove USD's from Bitcoinica recently?  is trading proceeding normally?

I'm in my hometown right now.

Withdrawals: Apparently we have hit Mt. Gox's monthly withdrawal limit. Bitcoinica users have to wait for a few days for this limit to be refilled.

Trading: No redflag event longer than 5 seconds has been recorded in the last 48 hours.

yep my funds are still locked in, if I cancel the request for a Mt.Gox Btc code can I then just send the Btc to my deposit address at Mt.Gox via bitcoinica's withdraw to wallet option, I assume yes
the few dollars also locked in I don't mind waiting for & btw Zhou if I'm ever in Singapore I'd like to buy you a stupendous lunch, preferably with bitcoins
3229  Economy / Speculation / Re: I pussied out on: January 06, 2012, 01:50:44 AM
today by staying up far too late & so drinking far too much, will list my trading positions tomorrow...

cashed out 1,100 of my bitcoinica longs at $6.18 yesterday, naturally it immediately shot up $1 to $7.20
I left 243 BTC long with their base price now down to $0.7959 & removed the original 300 BTC that I'd used as deposit/margin to open the position which was:

243.9 @ $4.107 - 26 Dec 2011
100 @ $4.65 - 1 Jan 2012
1,000 @ $5.528 - 1 Jan 2012

Total: 1,344 @ $5.205 base price
3230  Economy / Speculation / Re: Predict the price on 3/1/2012. on: January 06, 2012, 01:04:56 AM
$9.86816
oh yes & if someone could be kind enough to drop in a couple of 50k walls with bid at $9.86815 & ask $9.86817 for a minute at closing time I would very much appreciate that & would of course be more than happy to share the 2 Btc prize with you - muchas gracias

I wouldn't complain if he put that bid up right from now. Smiley
yep but who'd want that much slippage, better to spend a couple of months gradually accumulating the Bits & moving the price nearer the target  Smiley
sooner said than done...

3232  Economy / Speculation / $8 anybody? on: January 06, 2012, 12:05:04 AM
in the next 24 hrs, as someone is going to post this anyway, lets get it over with & so here it is - enjoy  Smiley  atm $7.20 up from about $5.75 just 24 hrs ago which is over 25% of upness in just one day - what a difference a day makes, eh  Wink that's a lot of Zhoutonging
3233  Economy / Speculation / Re: Mad Speculator now live on bitcoinica on: January 05, 2012, 11:48:24 PM
No, no, no - seriously hold to at least 2017 (edit: like I should have done with my leveraged well in profit longs today Roll Eyes ) & when you have nice unrealized profits along the way then just add to your long position by buying more with them whenever there's a 10% to 25% spike down at least with this first 1 Btc account, you'll also have a very sellable newsworthy story by then too, start another bitcoinica account to practice how easy it is to lose money fast trading on margin if you like, remember your entry level was the $2.50 or less that you paid for this bit under 3 months ago, like what - a cup of coffee - let it roll  Grin

congrats! you're now in the black as your buy in spread has been covered, bitcoinica sell quote is $6.3104 atm against your base price of $6.2927 - let it ride
3236  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoinica: How it works on: January 05, 2012, 09:53:33 PM
I don't know if he's fixed it as yet but zhou admitted recently to problems re trailing stops functionability & planned to recode them soon
3237  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoinica: How it works on: January 05, 2012, 09:15:58 PM
yep you're doing good, don't mess with it until you're either wiped out by some pidley little spike down or have lotsa $ unrealised profit as the bitcoin price soars, basically just let it ride in to 2017

what your doing is gambling 5 times your 1 Btc stake so you are exposed to 5 times any price drop which will quickly get you zhoutonged (an experience in itself) or if the normal rules of gambler's beginners luck holds then the price will now soar & every time you hit say $60 or so say of unrealised profit you could buy more longs, by 2033 you could be browsing catalogues for 50 foot yachts
3238  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoinica: How it works on: January 05, 2012, 09:08:21 PM
many thanks, it says there:

Mt. Gox gives us a withdrawal limit. This means we can only withdraw so much each day on behalf of our clients. You should be able to access your Mt. Gox code after 24-48 hours. I'm sorry about the inconvenience, but our hands are tied in the matter. I suggest only using the Bitcoin network (you can even withdraw directly to your Mt. Gox deposit address) for withdrawals and deposits.
Thank you for trading with Bitcoinica,
-Jon

& WhyTF didn't bitcoinica just not make this clear on the withdrawals page, of corse I could have used my Mt.Gox deposit address instead - if I had known or if they had told me that they were maxed out  Angry (not actually but I can imaging that many would be over this kind of so easily avoidable BS)

Hmm, try contacting support. They can probably cancel your withdrawal, so you can withdraw over the Bitcoin Network instead.
many thanks, unfortunately I now need my 480 minutes of sleep (as Mt.Gox live puts it) so I'll just let it ride, at least a learning experience & not an immediate need case for once
3239  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoinica: How it works on: January 05, 2012, 09:02:06 PM
Out of curiosity I've decided to see what bitcoinica is all about with 1BTC.

get 10 times leverage authorised & choose a big momentum wave with no quick spike backs, let it ride up to $66.66666 & then cash out, good luck actually trying to extract the $s from Khou's kung fu grip tho
