I received in Spain from Romania: issues #2 & #3 plus 1 of the 3 extra copies of issue #1 that I had ordered, support were excellent when told about the 2 missing copies, the envelopes are a bit flimsy & could easily fall apart as there seems to be some rough postal handling along the way that leaves them ragged, one had a mud stained tear & someone had snipped off a corner (cutting corners ) I guess to peek at the contents, anyway they got through & I'm delighted with them - some plane reading for the visit to London tomorrow. pic...and for second place for the person with the prettiest desk... Is that a flower fly-swatter? Let me guess. Each time you kill a fly with it, it goes through a five-step washing process, then replaced squarely back on your desk from wench it came. ~Cackling Bear~ BTW: Handsome mags! The desk was a complete bordello of chaos before I cleared it for the photo, getting the magazines brings it back to nearer how it should look, the fly swat is pretty virgin atm - there was just one mosquito that made it through the outer defences then hid after a few bites that it was prepared for - in the end I splattered it with a slap when it returned for more & yep it's a flower one - I got it in Thailand maybe it's a Buddhist way of transforming life forms. I closed the cupboard door on the left properly after the pic btw. Enjoying issue #2 today.

LOL my pants are wet..................... cause i forgot them outside in the rain Cheers Zyk Did you suffer from brain damage? Please, don't quote him. This is how you should view zyk's posts: This user is currently ignored.
He's my first ignore on any forum in all my life, but I must confess that I felt really good when I did it... Yep...meee toooooo...always feeling good when ignoring my brain -damage Cheers Zyk The forum really should include the ignore button on one's own posts too, so that zyk could ignore himself (sry for quoting him to those who have him turned off, couldn't resist this time)

I wouldn't sell any of my personal assets to cover any bitcoin losses. This is a business, it has failed. When businesses fail they shut down and usually nobody gets anything. Umm, no. That's not true. Declaring your business a failure doesn't absolve you of your debts. You are your business. Your business is you. I will continue to make payments from my bitcoin production and buy coins whenever I can. If people continue at act they way they are acting I will just walk away.
Threatening to renege on a legitimate debt to obtain a business concession is scamming. Well then sue me. Lets see what a court will say about bitcoin. I will just file for a bk and I'm done. JoelKatz has no money invested with you, I do & would very much appreciate it being returned asap, as I've already said to honor my obligations to others I'm now having to borrow fiat & sell assets to make good the coins I trusted your word upon.

@Buckwheet, had your 8 week term finished already, or was there some to run still?
There was still time. Maybe he's sending them out alphabetically after proportioning out an equal % to all, or maybe you know how to write very compelling withdrawal requests?

yep, I believe that you are right strictly speaking, but to me it's more like someone asking about different flavors of baby food which while they can be nutritious you don't necessarily want to be feeding on these your whole life & I was offered her a 6 month course in hopefully learning how to grow, harvest, gather & hunt, prepare, cook, serve, share & enjoy much more interesting fare imo. Anyway seems she couldn't face the forum cynicism & trollery & has taken herself off in a huff - I just put Alister Crowley's 666 on my eBay watch list for her too after reading her last posts, all roads lead there - some are just more tortuous.

I booked through the excellent www.airbnb.com & found a cool place about 10 minutes walk away for well under £500 (including fees) for 8 nights.

Just wanted to throw in my say. I'm going to have to agree that a tiered fee does seem like a bad idea, for the same reasons already stated. I also feel that .40BTC is too high a price for the upgrade given the way the market looks currently.
So if we got rid of the tiered pricing and moved to price to .30 BTC, would this be an acceptable change along with the 90% PPS? I like the tiered pricing as it encourages people to buy more bulk and bigger volumes which A, makes the job easier for you and B encourages people to buy more and invest more heavily into GigaMining which I think is good //DeaDTera +1

Now that Matthew has been labelled a scammer, I presume you guys have invited him to speak in London?
Correct, he is listed at https://sites.google.com/a/bitcoin2012.com/homepage/speakers. I am actually attending this conference, but am feeling increasingly uncomfortable about it. Matthew N. Wright is a serial entrepreneur living in South Korea, and quit all non-Bitcoin related work to found the Digital Commerce Advancement Organization, the largest Bitcoin business incubator. He co-founded DialCoin, Bitcoin Magazine, BeyondBanks, Safebit, BitcoinMall, ElletSys, and the Bitcoin Association of Korea, offering bi-lingual informational, business integration and translation services. He currently serves as Editor-in-Chief of Bitcoin Magazine.

So, I apologize if this has been discussed already (please point me to the link if so)... but do physical bitcoins really need to the private key to work? Obviously, by removing the private key, you remove an important feature from the Casascius coins... but it seems that as long as it is possible to look at the public address (which is on the coin) and verify that the Bitcoin hasn't been spent... then the system of physical bitcoins could still work. Thoughts?
The coins have the private key under a hologram that shows if they have been exposed, if the hologram is intact then assuming that you trust Casascius's process then you can be sure that it's only the person who holds the coin that has access to them, just looking at the public address means nothing if at any time anyone else has had access to the private key unless it's Casascius who everyone using his coins trusts, the private key is what it's all about & it can never be exposed except when the coins are spent/transferred other than physically - the Cas coins only work because one can see that the embedded private key has not been exposed. The public address & it's balance is worthless if the private key has been exposed, or even if ppl suspect that it may have been exposed. The embedded private key is never removed & can not be as it controls the true value of the coins as shown on the public key, it is known to be part of the coin & tamper proof. Think of the public key like an open view of how much is in a bank account & the private key as the PIN number/code needed to move that balance anywhere you choose, a coin without the private key is worthless.

After hashking defaulted yesterday, though it looks like he intends to make good starting Monday & I hope that he gets plenty of recognition for that if he can do so successfully, I requested a full withdrawal of funds from Vescudero because though I trust him I like many wanted all funds back under my direct control, I requested after the 24 hour notice required & assumed that the funds would be returned the Sunday following this one but Victor kindly agreed to send them back along with this week's interest today, this greatly reassured me & so I asked him to cancel my W/D if possible & keep the funds for the foreseeable future, I also apologized for messing him around & recommended that he deduct any costs these last minute changes had made for him from the interest.
A couple of hours ago I received back my full investment of 304 BTC plus the full weekly interest, I was his largest depositor by far & he returned everything even though he didn't need to at all & in a very professional & courteous way, when/if he opens for new deposits again I shall go out of my way to participate & show support for someone who has behaved above reproach.

He had a trust account so at least 5,000 BTC, probably a lot more - if it was his own money he's free to do with it as he pleases imo (which I know some others don't agree with), he is not free though to risk his own money in such an obviously high risk venture if that portion of it is being used to back guarantees & insurance given against funds loaned to him & he absolutely can not risk any of those said funds with BST, unless he had other liquid assets to pay back in case of a pirate default.
|
|
|
IMHO -- you are not entitled to any part of interest that you have no idea, evidence or statement that hashking could have earned it for you.
You even know that he just gambled with it and paid interest out of other peoples pockets.
Thanks for correcting any typos jw
Cheers Zyk
I expect him to make, earn, borrow or obtain honestly the money that he owes - if he doesn't intend to do this then he should say so. I expect him to make, earn, borrow or obtain honestly asap the money that I lent him & that he stated was both guaranteed & insured. I have already said this before so if you can't get it then fine but I don't wish to repeat it any more so I don't plan on responding to you again Zyk.

In this closed - end BTC - community, any interest you are promised, are claiming or are paid, has been ripped off some unsuspecting sucker,
save you know, how it was earned through saving and investment by somebody else.
Thanks for thinking about complience.
Zyk
'in my opinion' is perfectly valid & what I wished to say, there is another expression 'in my humble opinion' but my not using it doesn't infer anything about how humble or not I may be or anything about if I would make a good escrow or not imo, but you are perfectly entitled to your opinion. Re the interest: I expect that to be paid legally & honestly by hashking when he has sold assets, earned or borrowed it just as I am having to do now because he choose to gamble with my money when he had promised not to by saying that it was both insured & guaranteed, I trusted him & expect him to honor his word & make good his mistake in full.

Sorry otoh, you try to jump right to step 2 in Ghandi´s theorem, please make you first comfortable with step one. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=66802.460 number 467 Thanks Zyk P.S. When able to follow zykloogish at first sight, happily accept you as an escrow I have no idea what you mean by 'h' & I have no interest in debating with you so there's no need to bother enlightening me, that was why I didn't respond to whatever you were trying to convey in the other thread & I expect that I shall be mostly just skipping your posts if you do respond & it's anyway off topic for this thread.

@zyk lol I propose these terms if anyone is interested, personally I choose to leave my funds with Victor but choose not to enter in to any bets, but I would be happy to act as an escrow if anyone wished though. Vescudero will not default - bet: Agree xxx BTC Victor Escudero, Vescudero, will not default on the funds lent to him or on the interest due on them within the next 6 months. Funds covered are those listed in & added to his OP & a default is defined as being over 2 weeks late in paying out any interest or funds due. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=89122.0;allHe may at any time change the rate of interest payed out &/or return any &/or all funds (with interest to date). He may close his offering at any time & if all funds & interest due has been payed then the bet is then classed as over & won. Event date 2013 03 10 Bet deadline 2013 03 08

Thunderbit, your auction closed a day or two ago & I believe that I'm the high bidder, if you wish to go through with it then please post &/or PM me within 8 hours so that I can place a bid on the first book promised as an auction for that closes then, many thanks. I will need an address to send these to & an email address to coordinate would be useful as well.
