3321  Other / Off-topic / Re: 1000 BTC Donation to www.bitcointalk.org on: June 10, 2012, 06:43:01 PM
Nice PR stunt.  It still won't make you first in line to get a refund.

CoinExchanger will try -anything- to attempt to become relevant, including lie about having funds in Bitcoinica.

EDIT: And lie about donating to people.
3322  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: 1 bitoin for the one who can help me fix my server issue on: June 10, 2012, 09:40:38 AM
Could that really be the problem?

In my experiences, things that crash without explanation after functioning completely normally do so because of a lack of memory.
3323  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: 1 bitoin for the one who can help me fix my server issue on: June 10, 2012, 09:37:52 AM
Hi,

I have a huge problem with my bitcoind bitcoin server. It always crashes (about 2times a day) and I cant figure out what is wrong.. I`m not that into server administration, so I`m not able to fix this by myself. It runs on ubuntu lucid platform.
I would appreciate your help.

Thanks in advance. Smiley

Buy more memory for your VPS.
3324  Economy / Lending / Re: Looking for a large loan. on: June 10, 2012, 09:10:10 AM
Now I understand. You posted about Kronos which is his project  Smiley

I don't think you could consider Kronos "my" project. I was brought on at the last minute to handle some management aspects, but that was actually after his post in that particular thread basically ignorantly bashing Bitcoin services "because bitcoin".

The reason he raised red flags consistent with being a scammer is because of his childish and abusive language in a previous thread (to which he has since deleted). His response to me questioning him was "Before you say things you should think about the person on the other end and how long you'd last in a cage fight with them" or something extremely immature to that extent. From that moment I've been waiting for the "David_Benz scammed me" thread. There is nothing much to comment on at the moment, just that I notice patterns and this thread matched it.

What David_Benz should understand (since he's going to be a professional bitcoiner!11) is that anyone asking for a large loan is going to attract attention and shouldn't be so defensive when questioned. In fact, scammers are the only ones who get irate about questions being asked.
3325  Economy / Lending / Re: Looking for a large loan. on: June 10, 2012, 08:26:08 AM
Why don't you ask PatrickHarnett if I am a scammer.
Okay. I will. Thanks for providing useful information.

Why don't you ask the 10+ people I have met in person, had at MY HOUSE from this forum if I am a scammer.
How would having people in your house qualify you as not being a scammer? Shakaru has met many forum members too, so has Bruce Wagner. Even CoinExchanger has met Charlie Shrem of BitInstant. I don't think that matters.

I have loans out too for people in lesser situations then me.  I have risk in the BTC community too.  Over 3000 dollars.
Good to know. My advice would be to lead with this next time to avoid confusion.

In any event, you don't like me for some reason, and that is fine.
Drama queen.

I could care less who you are, who you think you are blah blah blah.  But I do not like people who disrespect me for no reason
It seems you don't like people asking questions about you. This is another red flag and telltale sign of a scammer. Just saying.

I have never had ANY interaction with you ... but you come on my threads and disrespect me, harass me.  For no reason.

I think anyone who reads your loud, obnoxious, uneducated and threatening posts would have plenty of reason to be bothered by you, but that's not why I'm posting in this thread. I'm posting here because I'm unaware of your legitimacy and I'm tired of seeing people burned trusting newbies with loans. Potentially incorrect as they may be, my concerns are valid and I am a fan of due diligence. I suggest you get used to people on the internet asking questions when you're asking for money.

If you don't like me, fine.  But keep your mouth shut,
Or what? You'll beat me up in a cage over the internet? Please grow up.

P.S.  -- my time on the site should not factor who I am.  My actions should.  I bet I am a cooler person IRL then you and would get along with WAY more people on this forum then you would.  And I will get farther then you in the BTC industry.  You can trust that.

For posterity.
3326  Economy / Lending / Re: Looking for a large loan. on: June 10, 2012, 08:04:22 AM
What do you suggest I put?

 Huh

And why do you troll me around the forums?

I don't troll you around the forums. I watch you and many others who exhibit behavioral patterns similar to previous scammers.

For example, a brand new member jumping straight to VIP donator status for example should be looked into imo, as should people who are overly promotional of the safety of trading with them, as should people who insist on doing business without breaking anonymity.

Not that you fit the above description, but this thread caught my attention because it creates risk. It's not me, it's you.
3327  Economy / Lending / Re: Looking for a large loan. on: June 10, 2012, 07:59:00 AM
At 10% interest or less.

No trickery, no crazy math, just a simple loan.  Simple terms.  I pay you back as fast as I can.

I have a GPUMax account, so I get pretty good coin daily.

Please check my sig, check my threads, research me, ask any question you want and let me know if you can help me.

I get damn good prices on power and am looking to expand big before the gold rush ends.

Please PM me.

Thanks.

No offense, but everything about your image screams "confidence scam".

Why do you label yourself as a trusted member?
3328  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [Payout Updates] Bitcoinica site is taken offline for security investigation on: June 09, 2012, 11:21:47 PM
A few things should be made very clear to everybody.

One of the first things we considered was having a court appointed liquidator.

It was decided that this was not the correct course of action for several reasons, first and foremost it would be significantly expensive and would be a significant delay.

Additionally we couldn't answer how they would treat bitcoin deposits.

If anybody decides to file a criminal complaint you will effectively guarantee that it will be months or even years before anybody sees their funds.

Seriously doing that is not the best way to get you funds back, indeed it is far from it.

As for isis100 there isn't even a record of your being a registered user and you have completely failed to forward any information you have to verify@bitcoinica.com

Again we are working on making this entire process be as fair as possible but the constant pressure from people who as far as i can tell are either just bored and entertaining themselves or attempting to scam funds is making the process take much longer than it should.

Since you seem to have more voice than Zhoutong, I am of the FIRST users of bitcoinica with a big balance. Why  has my refund not been processed yet?  I don't care if it delays the process a decade, if I do not see some of my money today, I will heavily invest in legal resources until I make sure that all of you pay for my troubles.

Again, my account is probably in the top TEN users with a big balance. Zhou knows exactly who I am. Pay me NOW.

Maria.

Shut up CoinExchanger / isis / Maria.

Telltale signs of a scammer:

  • Insistence on urgency
  • Lack of reputation
  • Claims they can prove who they are but starts off anonymous

3330  Other / Off-topic / Re: How does your significant other feel about your bitcoin obsession? on: June 09, 2012, 07:29:12 AM
My girlfriend knows about my reputation as a troll on the forums (that I spent a great majority of my past here fighting and arguing with people), that there is a stalker on Something Awful (the buttcoin.org guy) who wants to have sex with me, and that I am the owner of several bitcoin companies. She knows how much money I make from it all and she knows that I produce a magazine. I gave her the magazine for the first time last night.

I didn't get any sleep.

'Nuff said.
3331  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] Coming next week-- the world's first handheld Bitcoin device, the Ellet! on: June 09, 2012, 07:23:17 AM
Update: Added the following update to the first release statement.

  • Connectivity -- The Ellet can connect on the go to any mobile network around the world, no need for any additional mobile accounts, bothersome SIM cards, or the purchase of any external repeater systems. It also works on Wifi too to provide you with uninterrupted signal to suit your needs.

I will get up at O'dark thirty to drive to the Kentucky convention for the Republican Party in my final attempt to become a delegate to Tampa.

The odds are long, and Robert's Rule suck.  Pray for me to whatever God or gods you prefer.  I'm sure it can't hurt in any case.

Good luck mate! If I was back in the USA I'd be doing this too.
3334  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] Coming next week-- the world's first handheld Bitcoin device, the Ellet! on: June 09, 2012, 06:20:29 AM
Looks like a hit! though im not so sure about 50,000 selling... theres around 56,000 members on this forum that it is being announced on and i doubt that almost 90% will buy one as would be needed...  Roll Eyes

Although this post is on a Bitcoin forum and the title says "The world's first handheld Bitcoin device", this is not in fact being marketed as a Bitcoin device to the outside world (which is arguably why it will succeed). Bitcoin is just one of many currencies usable.

Would you be willing to reveal more that will be usable than the 4 mentioned in the OP?

As mentioned before, I don't want to get into technical specifics as things can change during the manufacturing process and some options and features may no longer be viable, while new ones may present themselves.

The only payment service I can absolutely guarantee will be on it will be Bitcoin. Everything else will need to wait until the formal press release. Thanks for your patience.

Not sure if mine was sent out or not. I didn't preorder, but felt like ordering a subscription.

I ordered mine May 24th. Should I give it another week or so, or contact support?

(If it hasn't been sent out yet, i'll need to change my shipping address anyways)

Go ahead and contact support at info@bitcoinmagazine.net and make sure.
3337  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] Coming next week-- the world's first handheld Bitcoin device, the Ellet! on: June 08, 2012, 11:10:32 PM
I have tried "embedded key" solutions for mobile: they just do not work for me because there is the time when I want to make a quick send and the device wants to update its block chain.

I need to wait a few seconds or minutes and that turns the user experience to really bad compared to just any other payment solutions.

IMHO, thin clients (with backend hosted keys) are the way to go mobile.

Exactly! This is not an issue with Ellet as it does not store the entire blockchain and uses a specially developed lite client.
3338  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BITCOIN MAGAZINE ARRIVED! on: June 08, 2012, 06:41:41 PM
My arrived recently great magazine.

Thank you Sergio! Hope to see you ordering a subscription! The next issue will be increased page count, higher quality content, and faster deliver for most.

http://subscribe.bitcoinmagazine.net

When can people who only ordered a single order of the May issue be able to order a single order of the June issue?

I assume the website will be updated in a couple weeks (after the May issue is not being popularly ordered anymore)?

Yes! Right now orders keep flooding in for the first issue ("Oh shit! It's not a scam??") so as you understood, it doesn't make much sense to switch to second issue sales just yet.

I did learn from my mistakes thought of hearing people lying about me, calling me a scammer, and basically having no faith at all just because I accepted money beforehand so anyone who wants the second issue will have to wait until we go to print. Evil isn't it? What will all those bored detractors have to bitch about then? LOL

"The colors are...ONLY 4 OF THEM!! AND MATTHEW IS UGLY!"

Guilty as charged.

On that note, it'd be awesome if the ability to post-order an earlier issue was somehow kept, assuming stock of that issue is still available.

It will be kept up for as long as we have stock of the first issue (I'm already running out in Korea, Adam is running out in Canada and Daniel is running out in New York. We'll see how many UK and Romania have left in a few weeks.)

No joy in Canada... Sad

Adam Harding in Canada just got his. Yours is probably coming today or tomorrow then.

EDIT: Found out that I was wrong. He got a different shipment. Looks like Canada -really- hates the USPS.
