3341  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Server Problems on: November 14, 2022, 07:39:07 PM
Yesterday morning while I was brushing my teeth, there was blood in my mouth and my knee hurt. Damn you Ledger! Why did you have to partner up with FTX?
Sorry, but your precious ledger publicly advertised this FTX SCAM for months and they lured people to sent coins to Scam Bankman, so I don't know what the heck are you blabing about  Tongue
I am not blaming them about your weird fantasy injuries or some unrelated incident, this is just a topic about server issues.

btw they are still promoting buying of shitcoin SCAM ''securely'' on their website  Roll Eyes

https://www.ledger.com/buy/ftx-token

Now I'm confused Cheesy... Which one of these comments is accurate? I do know that for the set up process, you need to "install the latest version of the Bitcoin app" but other than that, why it has to rely on their servers while there are plenty on Electrum?
Many people could not even turn on their ledger device recently, so I don't know how they can magically connect this junk with Electrum if they can't even turn it on.
Booting is being stuck on certain percentage so you can't even start your device and connect it with any wallet including Electrum or any other.
And if you have battery problems there is also a chance you won't be able to use your device with any wallet, until you replace battery or device.
If that is not a stupid product, than I don't know what is then...

3342  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: What do you think about trust wallet? on: November 14, 2022, 07:18:18 PM
This sounds like a dumb question but after seeing what happens with FTX i really worried about any centralized company i am using for my crypto. Trust multi wallet is really a decentralized wallet?
Trust wallet runs using centralized servers so it's not really decentralized, and it is closed source software supported from centralized exchange.
This is hot wallet so I wouldn't use it for storing anything more than pocket money, and I am sure everything you do will be reported to Binance and some Chinese agency.

I am using a multi wallet in trust wallet that has BTC, ETH, BNB, dot and most other blockchain which i can access through one mnemonic phase. So if something happens with trust wallet company and their apps become inaccessible then how i will be able to retrieve my btc,dot and other blockchain assets by using that one multi wallet mnemonic phase?
I would never trust this wallet with anything but you should be fine, unless you import your seed words in some phishing website, or store them in some cloud aka other people computers.
I something happens with their servers and they shut down, you should import seed words in other wallets that use same BIP format.
However, some problems may occur with different addresses and derivation paths.
3343  Other / Archival / Re: WasabiWallet.io | Open-source, non-custodial Bitcoin Wallet for desktop on: November 14, 2022, 07:08:37 PM
The wallet itself said it was able to correctly connect to my HW, but it did not showed me anything, not even the current balance. Did I do something wrong during the configuration or the implementation is still being worked on?
Last time I tried connecting Trezor device with Wasabi wallet I couldn't do it and I was getting some error message.
I don't know if they fixed it now but I think that both sides are still working on making full support for coinjoin transactions, so there could be some bugs along the way.
Maybe try contacting wasabi support or write your issue on their github page, but if you don't want to use coinjoin better use Electrum wallet or Trezor Suite app with your hardware wallet.
3344  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Any PC Wallets to store many coins and exchange them? on: November 14, 2022, 06:59:59 PM
Is there any PC (non-Mobile) wallet where you can store many crypto coins and also exchange them?
There are some options but most of them are closed source software (Exodus, Coinomi, etc), they use centralized third parties for exchanging coins, and I don't like using any of them.
Only usable multi coin option I found is AtomicDex.io wallet, that is open source and it uses Atomic Swaps for exchanging coins in decentralized way.
Don't expect to have big trading volume for exchanging all shitcoins, but you can always create your own orders and invite others to accept them.

Bisq is also a good option if you want to restrict yourself only to Bitcoin and few altcoins for trading, but you are getting best decentralized exchange in the same package.
You could also use Bisq for exchanging Bitcoin to many fiat currencies, and that is really unique advantage compared to all other wallets.

3345  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Guides for using Bisq on: November 14, 2022, 06:50:35 PM
What concerns me is that someday there won't be physical cash. You'll have to find another solution, if there will be one (to avoid a bank).
You better start the process yourself if you want to preserve cash trading with Bitcoin.
There would be no chance any government would be able to remove cash if enough people didn't accept this change, and want to continue using cash payments.
More people should pay stuff with cash in every day life, so there would be more trading options for Bitcoin, and except Bisq you could try other P2P trading websites from kycnot.me website.

Then we better get a lot more places to start accepting bitcoin directly before that happens.
All we can do is ask more people if they want to accept payment in Bitcoin.
I am doing that all the time, but in best cases I am getting answers they lost all money in crypto investing in some shitcoins crap.
In worst cases they think it's all a scam or they never heard anything about Bitcoin.

Historically, societies have been very creative in finding ways to transfer value, physically.
What about 'grams of gold' <> BTC as a trade pair for Bisq?
So you actually sent a merge request for this (CIG) List Cigarettes?  Cheesy
Instead of Gold I would rather think about grams of Silver, it is cheaper, easier to find/divide and it has longer history as being used for payments.

PS
Crypto.com is now delaying withdrawals.  Cheesy
FTX deja vu.

3348  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Forget about exchanger search! Use BestChange! on: November 13, 2022, 10:56:57 PM
I can only describe my situation. Unfortunately, I can't say anything about others.
I understand what you are saying, but you still didn't say the name of exchange you used, and that way you could directly warn people about them... not blame BestChange for everything.

@BestChange  have one question for you.
I made a small research comparing your two websites, main one with .com domain, and alternative option with .ru domain.
After testing multiple payment options I noticed huge difference in number of offers and in reviews each exchanges have, and I don't understand why are you doing this?
There are much more options and better offers in Russian version of website, only difference is that everything is written in Russian language.

For example, I am taking random offers for Bitcoin exchange to Skrill USD.
Picture are saying more than thousand words, but you can see that reserves are the same, but number of reviews is different and lower picture has more offers:

https://www.bestchange.com/bitcoin-to-skrill.html

https://www.bestchange.ru/bitcoin-to-skrill.html

Maybe it's best for people to use both version of website if they want to find best rates and offers.
3349  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [UPDATED] PSA: Most Stablecoins Can Be Frozen, Even in Your Own Wallets on: November 13, 2022, 10:41:01 PM
Just in: Tether freezes FTX's USDT holdings
Shitshow continues, and danger is even bigger if we know that Tether supply is mostly held on ethereum blockchain that is centralized, and it currently has 75% OFAC compliant blocks.
This means they can censor, block and freeze any address for any reason and without explanation, this is built in feature of ethereum PoS blockchain.

DAI can't be frozen, but DAI poses different risks(mostly depegs) as DAI is backed by ETH/USDC/etc. Totally up to you to weigh in the risks.
Maybe it's slightly better than other alternative in theory, but if it is still held on ethereum blockchain, and it is, than it can be censored and frozen at any time.

Solana actually has a more active blockchain in general compared to Tron despite the network downtimes. But yea, USDC is far more adopted than USDT on Solana. (source: Jupiter(Solana) and Sun.io(TRX) trading volumes)
This is probably all bots and fake transactions, and we all know this blockchain is 100% centralized so it doesn't really matter who is more active.

so there are no reliable stablecoins for keeping your reserves without risks of loss? fully backed centralized stablecoins like USDC, BUSD and USDT could be easily frozed on request from regulators and other government agencies. partly backed and algorithmic stablecoins like USDD, Neutrino USD and USDX could lose peg during bear markets.
I am really surprised how Neutrino USDN held up until now, since it is only backed up by Waves altcoin.
It's not safe to keep anything in USDN or any other stable coins right now, especially not long term... or you make wake up one day and find your money gone.

3350  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: WBTC vs BTC on: November 13, 2022, 10:29:17 PM
I never heard about sBTC before but I am not surprised with this price swings and it's likely it will go to zero soon together with Solana.
Most of the altcoins and their blockchains should never exist, they are centralized money grab schemes, and this started to be more serious when they started to print fake bitcoins.
Just take a look at Coingecko website category Tokenized Bitcoin, and you will see other worthless crap representing fake BTC, but I am sure there are more not listed here:

3351  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A quick Newbies Reminder; is Ledger(Hardware wallets) the ultimate solution? on: November 13, 2022, 10:14:28 PM
All of this will not stop, Binance is not safe, Okx is not safe, your favorite exchange is not safe, the fight is on, exchanges are exposing theirselves, it is a dangerous time, have you ever wondered why exchanges don't teach about cold wallet?
Isn't it obvious why not?
It's not in their interest to do that, unless they make a deal with hardware wallets to earn more money.
Let's not forget that Legder made partnership with both FTX and Binance, so I would never say that ledger is universal solution for anything.
Ledger is closed source, this compnay had multiple leaks of customer information, and they are promotion shitcoins all the time.
Ultimate solution is using open source hardware wallets or signing devices as Bitcoin cold storage, best if it is airgapped.

Using and leaving your assets on exchanges is the same as using a bank; aren't we all in crypto to have complete control over our money? So, what's the point of keeping it on exchanges?
Centralized exchanges are probably worse than banks, especially if they ask you for mandatory kyc verification, they get hacked more easily, they can leak private information and more.
Some people still to use them for trading Bitcoin for bigger amounts of money, but i would never use exchanges as non-custodial wallets.
3352  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [Updated] Binance intends to acquire FTX! on: November 12, 2022, 07:33:09 PM
Again: I think that's unlikely. DEXes are more complicated, and require people to install their own wallet. I've seen many estimates that put the number of Bitcoin users several times higher than the number of funded Bitcoin addresses. I assume those include people who "own" Bitcoin on centralized exchanges. If they're not even willing to install their own Bitcoin wallet, there's no way they'll install dozens of different wallets for all the shitcoins they're using to invest speculate on pump and dump schemes.
Any normal person can install simple software on their computer to run decentralized exchange, it's not like they never installed anything in their life.
Sure, Dex exchanges can be improved and made better, but benefit is that you won't have to waste time sending your private information and documents to exchange scammers like Sam.
I don't know what people think will happen with their documents now, someone said FTX was hacked and Scam Bankman escaped with his private jet to South America... gangsta style.

CZ is just as bad. All the smoke and mirrors he keeps going on about - the insurance, "fUnDs ArE sAfU" and other such bullshit, and now the completely meaningless proof of reserves. All designed to install fake confidence, meanwhile he tricks users in to using his centralized scamcoin instead of bitcoin, overcharges bitcoin withdrawal fees by orders of magnitude, and gets their malicious code in to as much software as possible to gather as much data as possible.
He is even worse, because of his Chinese connections, and his net worth including Binance exchange is much bigger.
I know he likes to act as a good guy in public and twitter, but I don't trust anything he does, and btw he wanted to buy the same FTX, so I don't believe that he was so stupid and uninformed to don't know real condition of that company  Tongue
3353  Economy / Exchanges / Re: What are the consequences after FTX bankruptcy? on: November 12, 2022, 07:21:13 PM
The empire of FTX and the companies they associate with and invest in.
OMG... list is much bigger than I thought  Shocked
There is so much shitcoin vaporware and crapware connected with FTX, and I am just waiting for the next big collapse to happen, maybe it's time for Solana to finally die, after stopping centralized blockchain numerous times.
It's not bad to see clean up and purging off some fake dex projects I see listed here, and maybe few more centralized exchanges will stop working soon.
Real danger I see is that few more stable coins are probably going to collapse and we can see bitcoin going down again as a result.
Better be ready for a bumpy ride in next few weeks and months.

3354  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance Data Shows 40% of Major Holdings Are BUSD, BNB - Bloomberg on: November 12, 2022, 07:09:35 PM
So it looks like binance is in a similar situation compared to FTX.
so  let me ask. Do you have bnb, busd, or any cryptocurrencies in your binance account?
Even if they are not on Binance exchange, and you have this shitcoins (including fake bitcoin on bsc chain) in your non-custodial wallet, you are in danger of losing your money.
If BNB token or BSC chain collapses for any reason, all on-chain transactions will stop, fake dex exchanges will stop working, and value of this coins will go down fast, probably to zero.
I would never keep larger amount of coins on Binance or any other exchange, but I also recommend converting all shitcoins to Bitcoin and withdrawing them to hardware wallet or cold wallet.
Binance is seriously connected with FTX, heck they wanted to buy them few days ago, and who knows what other dirty connections we don't know yet.
I don't think Binance will collapse soon or in few days, but there is good chance this could happen in near future, so better be safe than sorry.
3355  Other / Meta / Re: DefaultTrust changes on: November 12, 2022, 06:57:21 PM
Should there be a limit to how many DT2-users one DT1-user can create? I'm bringing this up because I noticed an increasing number of Newbies and very low ranking users on DT2.
How to reach DT2 as a new user? Just leave positive feedback for MrCryptHodl (see his Trust list), and BOOM, you're DT2!
How to get DT2 positive feedback? Just buy something from MrCryptHodl, pay upfront, and BOOM, you have positive feedback!
I agree this is incorrect use of trust system, but should opposite case also apply?
For example, you don't like someone or you are don't agree with opinions of other members, and you give them negative feedback and distrust them on your trust list.
I can give specific examples, but I think you already know about them yourself very well.
How to remove this members from DT1 membership?
3356  Other / Meta / Re: Not Your Keys Not your Coins Banner Needed Everywhere? on: November 12, 2022, 06:42:21 PM
Title says it all, with yet another disaster going on with the exchanges imploding should there be a constant banner someplace that just keeps the NYKNYC message up?
If you keep this NYKNYC banner everywhere all the time you will create countereffect, people will get used to it and won't pay much attention on real meaning.
I seriously doubt many people even understand what this saying ''not your keys, not your coins'' really means, they think if this coins are on centralized exchanges, it's still their coins.
I would say that exchanging Bitcoin for shitcoins is even worse, for example, I just heard that Tether blacklisted $31.4M USDT after FTX hack!
That being said, I am not against banner or signature campaign that promotes and educates importance of real coin keys ownership.
3357  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Will Hardware Wallet Manufacturers Leak Customer’s Email Data? on: November 12, 2022, 06:25:22 PM
After that, the experiment ends. What do you think? Will I get any spam emails, and who is the likely culprit causing it? Many email providers delete messages classified as spam that end up in spam folders after 10 or 30 days, for example, so I will try to log in to the various places to check if there is anything new there.
I am already using separate email address for each new signup I make in last few years, not just cryptocurrency related, and it makes a huge difference.
This is just email subscription so it's not so serious like when you actually purchase their devices and send them your payment with name and shipping address.
Some of them already leaked information like Ledger and Trezor partially, but I never received any phishing emails on Trezor email.
My bet is on ledger to get hacked again, if they don't collapse before like their partners FTX.
3358  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Nokia Hardware Wallet? on: November 12, 2022, 06:11:59 PM
Why didn't you tell us about this 2 weeks ago?
I saw this information earlier but I didn't have enough free time to create topic before, and I was thinking of testing it first on real phone to see how it works Smiley

If those phones have been in storage for more than 5 years high chance they are not going to be of any use.
I have a feeling everyone thought that old Nokia phones will be good for this and when I say old, like the well-known 3310 or my favorite 8810, that silver and slick slide, god how happy I was when playing with it.
This old mobile phones are much more durable than most modern smartphones, you can drop them around and nothing will be broken easily.
I remember their batteries could hold for a week, and new battery is very cheap and easy to replace, in case if old battery dies.
Some of this phones can be found in local flea markets for few bucks, and after years of not using them battery works just fine.

I like style of Nokia N97 with slide-out keyboard, and it would be cool if this could work with Bitcoin MRE.

3359  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: COLDCARD: 15% off on: November 12, 2022, 05:54:24 PM
The offer ends in less than 10 hours and for the 5% off when using bitcoin, use the code: CKBTC.
Really nice move from Coldcard with this discount, thanks to debacle of FTX exchange, and we can say that something good can always be found in bad situations.
Few other hardware wallet manufacturers are also following this trend with their own discounts, and this became like early Black Friday and Cyber Monday Smiley
Satochip is currently offering 20% discount with promo code FUFTX20, and CoolWallet have 15% discount until November 15 for their hardware wallets.
3360  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: BTCapsule is a program to easily timelock your bitcoin for inheritance on: November 12, 2022, 05:41:33 PM
If you’re tired of seeing threads about BTCapsule, please keep reading because it has been completely rebuilt.
It was rebuilt how exactly, and what was changed compared to older version of btcapsule?
I would like to see how the problem with exact time and time servers was sold, and is it still possible to fake date and time to release lock.
Maybe it's better that you release code on github or gitlab since this is now open source software.

Since BTCapsule is now open source I think member BlackHatCoiner should consider changing his feedback on your profile.
