I have made the decision to buy a Raspberry Pi Zero which has no WiFi support, nor ethernet port and develop a device where I will generate passhprases and wallets (using electrum probably).

Raspberry pi is nice option. If you go for pi zero you may want to read about SeedSigner too. Using it as signing device is much more convenient than an offline computer imho.
343  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin miners extorting people that are making transaction? on: December 21, 2023, 07:45:30 AM
Did what my friend said somehow right? Is high transaction fee extortion?

It's not. He is not forced to make the transaction. The fees go up and down during months, so he can just wait until the fees become more bearable.
However, overall the fees are bound to rise, so it worth thinking on making long term plans for when the on-chain transactions will become even more expensive, i.e. when possible consolidate the funds and avoid making very small-value transactions at high costs.
344  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Wirex- Bitcoin Debit Card | Buy Bitcoin | Mobile Banking | Send Money on: December 21, 2023, 07:31:05 AM
Dead topic but I got nowhere to ask, do wirex card still work in Europe?
Physical cards not virtual ones, with Binance dead I wonder what's left as an emergency cash grabber if someone knows one?!?!

I have an older not-yet-expired Wirex card and I can tell that there's no easy answer to any of your questions.
My card didn't work exactly in the days I've needed it. But at some point I've made another test and then it worked.
Officially they are migrating something (iirc their BIN numbers, hence probably the bank/provider) and probably the migration still has EU users affected (not migrated properly or at all).
A new card might work though, but keep in mind that the fees (official + hidden) are higher than Binance had.

About other providers.. I don't know, I didn't pay much attention. There are at least 2 threads on this forum about what other cards are available and probably other discussions about what cards are better for EU.

353  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Transaction is pending because fee was too low, now what on: December 17, 2023, 04:40:19 PM
what will now happen with that transaction. Is my btc lost in transit forever?

I will bold the answer, since it may be lost in the "sea" of ideas how to make your transaction go through.

also your Bitcoins are not lost forever if the fee is too low miners may not confirm the transaction except maybe you use a free accelerator. But if the transaction is left unconfirmed for a maximum of about 2 weeks the Bitcoins will return back to your wallet

So the transaction will either be confirmed, either will be dropped and in the second case the coins and the fee will return to sender wallet, like nothing has happened.
Just I will add something to this: the 2 weeks is not a precise or even reliable deadline. If the fee is low, some nodes will drop it faster. Certain nodes, some so-called "free accelerators" and even some wallets will keep re-broadcasting the transaction and then even after 2 weeks it may not be dropped.
However, historically the fees had high and lows, so re-broadcasting forever never happened. And of course, the sender can act (rbf either for up the fee, either for canceling, or cpfp for the change), the receiver can act (cpfp), so you still have a certain amount of control there.

PS. OP, you've posted while I was writing this. If it's not useful please PM me and I'll remove.
354  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Seniors, how much does it cost to develop a cryptocurrency like Bitcoin? on: December 17, 2023, 02:46:10 PM
In China, free mining of altcoins is a very worthwhile thing to do. Most users do not look at the immediate value and do not want to miss an opportunity to become rich.

I hope you know that electricity still has to be paid... however, I understand your point.

Idea: get a fellow Chinese guy do this for you. He has to be able to read and understand the Bitcoin code, which is available to everyone. He has to do some research for rebranding that and maybe changing this or that (ports, supply rules, block size, and so on) and start it up for you.
Also maybe you start your project from Litecoin or others.
Plus he may need to make/clone you some miner software too.
However, going on this path you may get better price and also somebody you can communicate easier with.
355  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Seniors, how much does it cost to develop a cryptocurrency like Bitcoin? on: December 17, 2023, 07:32:56 AM
After all, many Chinese people have missed the opportunity

There are a huge lot of altcoins already. All being more or less "cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin". So your logic of missed opportunity is not good, since the altcoins have shown that they don't have the potential of becoming as important as Bitcoin.

Making a clone of Bitcoin or a fork of bitcoin are not that difficult, hence I don't expect it to be that expensive, but this will most probably not be a good business for you, you will not earn that money back.

I just want to develop an altcoin that users can mine. As for the future value, no one can predict it.
How much does it cost to develop such an altcoin?

Since you don't have the knowledge to do fixes/adjustments later on, I suggest you just mine an existing altcoin (especially if you are aware you are just burning electricity for no return).
However, even for your "make me a clone" question you may find in altcoins are people who have already done it. Just take care and avoid getting scammed.
356  Economy / Invites & Accounts / Re: Selling a merit source legendary at $200 on: December 17, 2023, 07:26:02 AM
Such an account most probably has everything on for being recovered, hence I expect that whoever falls for this "great business" will end up soon enough with the money gone and no account.
And no escrow can fix that.
357  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: What's the point in solving the puzzle transaction? on: December 17, 2023, 07:16:53 AM
What's the point in brute forcing all of these addresses. Aren't they empty?

The puzzle was made long ago and it looks like it was meant to have more and more difficult solution for each "new" address towards the end.

It was not like that, the addresses following a certain rule were all emptied and for the rest the brute force is being used.

And since, as I said, it's more and more difficult, not all of them were found/emptied yet. There are a couple of threads made on this topic, at least one of them is still updated regularly and you can see there what addresses still have money on them (or you can look on the blockchain, obviously) and how some even try to team up the find the next address' private key.

And no, it's not 100% pointless, although they burn a lot of electricity for this. Each new address holds a higher amount of BTC and with the price going this high they can pay for that electricity and also get profit... if they manage to find the key.

PS. Scroll into this list and you'll see that 66th entry has no solution found and 6.6 BTC prize. Do the math.

PD: should I mark this topic as solved and post the time-capsule-related question as a new one? Whatever gathers more attention.

Many don't read more than the first post.
Some did answer here and might think they can't add more.
So a new topic has the potential to get more attention imho.
...Maybe add a post here with a link to the other topic then lock this one.
