However, if you take a look at the top 15 currencies on CMC over the last week, you can see that several are gaining against BTC, even if only in small amounts.
Based on this, Ethereum, Maidsafe, Ripple, NXT and Doge are the only possible hedge options at this moment........but: as Ethereum is still a baby and Ripple isn't a crypto, looks like NXT, Maidsafe and Doge are the best options.

Two years of hard work from a lot of dedicated people is starting to pay off....

I'm busy chucking all of my BTC stash (such as it is  ) overboard.......if the current BTC vs XT debate was happening in any other crypto, we'd be predicting total disaster.
Just because it's BTC doesn't mean that it can't fail, or that it won't tank again in the short term.

Any way I look at it, right now my BTC are better off being NXT, LTC, ETH or even Bitmark......

jtb : you're not looking hard enough, certainly not at Nxt.
Bitcoin has almost no native functionality: the only feature it offers is the storage and transfer of secure tokens over its blockchain.
All other tools/features are built by 3rd parties on top of BTC, often using very breakable code.
Take a look at what happened to Counterparty as a result of the recent BTC 'stress test'

Nxt, on the other hand, has been designed from the ground up to offer a wide range of functions integrated into the core, running on Nxts own native blockchain.
The philosophy behind Nxt is pretty much the same as Satoshis original vision for BTC, and does not exclude the use of Bitcoin.
My vision for the future of crypto still has BTC as 'the gold standard', with NXT providing a range of 2nd generation functions, that BTC ítself simply can't.

Yeah, I've been getting a very TS vibe from JBC....

For the rest, I'll give you ladies the same advice as NXT gets: if you think the dev/marketing/whatever team is not getting stuff done fast enough, help them out.
If you think you can do better (or just add something extra)  there is nothing to stop you from stepping up and doing it yourself.

Trying to get a non-scammy coin list together will never, ever work, though.
We might get as far as agreeing on BTC, then all hell will break loose as we take a look at Ripple and LTC, and shit will escalate badly when Dash, BTS and Nxt come up for discussion. How about Peercoin ?
Could be fun, but a lot of work.....

I think that the best we (as a community) can do is to commit to stay as honest as possible with our own projects, and to point out scams and dishonesty whenever we see them.
Can't ask people to do much more than that, really, and if everyone does their best.......problem solved.

 

Well, after exhaustive testing, I think Stan should ask for his money back. I've tested 5 of these links, and 3 gave me nothing like a BTS press release.

It is....it's the result of a paid press release from an low-end PR agency.
A few hundred bucks gets your story listed on literally 100s of sites that are run by the agency, and that almost no-one ever sees.
The list looks impressive, though, and it helps slightly with Google rankings, though Googles algorithms try to exclude this sort of padding.

Market pegged assets/DACS, to be pedantic.
That's the point: BTS was, once upon a time, focussed on pegged assets and DACS. Seemed sane enough.
So at which moment did BTS decide to focus hype on the fact that they will have a completely open NXT-style exchange, the BEN ?
Why is this so hype-worthy ? Is copying a NXT feature the best that BTS can come up with ?

And, no I don't think that Nxt AE was the very first AE implementation, but I do think that it was the first completely open implementation.
(anyone got exact dates for XCP or MS/Omni, btw,?  NXT AE went live May 2014)
BTS, Counterparty and Mastercoin/Omni all required a certain level of input from their communities/dev teams to issue assets, NXT allows anyone with access to $14 to issue an asset, for better or worse.
