381  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: ACN trading platform: legit or scam? on: January 26, 2024, 11:09:06 PM
I came across this platform in a whatsapp group I joined weeks ago (I'm not even sure how I joined it) where they trade contracts. I've been taking a look at the group's activity every now and then. They used to post 2 signals a day but the last couple of weeks only 1 signal is being released every evening. There's an analyst who shares daily news every morning and posts the signal in the evening. Then there's an assistant to help registering an account on ACN. The signals accuracy is quite impressive and the amounts they recommend for each trade are rather high so they also have trading plans for those with lower funds (I still didn't get to the point where the assistant lets me know my trading plan because a deposit has to be made first);

And all the trades happen on their platform? if so, it would be pretty easy to rig it. To be frank, I would not trust anyone involved in this scam scheme.

If anyone has a suggestion for me so I can get out of this hole I would really appreciate it (like for instance another source of accurate and trustworthy trading signals or any other suggestion).

No one can guarantee accurate signals as you'd need some sort of superpowers for that. I would not advise you to dive into anything involving signals actually, mainly because most of them are scams or shady to say the least and it's like finding a needle in a haystack.
382  Economy / Gambling / Re: JustCasino.io | Get the Best Crypto Casino Experience on: January 26, 2024, 10:04:43 PM
Participation in the competition requires that you have an account with the casino and make a minimum (at least a first) deposit. I have not tried this casino before, but I was surprised by the lack of entries in the competition (only one member did), which made me assume that there is actually a problem with the system.

Bit of an extreme conclusion if you ask me, it could be as simple as it has only been 2 days since the contest was posted and interested participants still have many days to post entries -- it ends on 1st February 2024 (UTC 23:59:59) so there's almost 6 days left.
383  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: United Card Test Group. on: January 26, 2024, 09:10:18 PM
In my view the catch is that they select the whole boiling of 50 folks (from those who have signed up) for the whole period of promotion rather than 50 ppl/per week.

"We’re giving away 50 spots for people to test out our brand new United card."

500 x 50 = 25K/per week would be overkill even for Wirex card (which I'm using for years) not to mention such youngster as  United card.

50ppl/per week is what I get from this though

But there is def more to this as people have to do some tasks first which likely won't be simple considering the reward.

I imagine they're going to load the cards with their token UTED but I'm not sure how 50 people could spend $500 each since the token only did about $8500 in the last 24 hours.  There's not a lot of detail in their promotion.

Took a quick look and youre right. My guess is, either they have to shoulder a portion of it or not many people are able claim the 500 bucks because of the "simple tasks".

385  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [WARNING] Scammers use Patreon to send SPAM emails on: January 26, 2024, 05:21:47 PM
Exactly what I also thought when I first received a confirmation email before phishing email, so I figured out that they could be taking some security loophole with Patreon.

It looks like Patreon have been made aware of the issue and I received another email from them as shown in the screenshot.
https://www.talkimg.com/images/2024/01/25/kEd4G.png

It's nice to see such notice email from them but I don't think the root problem was solved.

They did say additional protections were made but it's probably just band-aid treatment. I had to try on a test account and things were still the same... I was able to make an account without verifying my email address, follow someone plus all email notifications including ones from memberships were still enabled by default on the settings.
386  Economy / Gambling / Re: TOP69CryptoCasinos.com | Reviews & Listings - A more honest approach on: January 25, 2024, 08:08:23 PM
Like the area of KYC is not mention and gamblers are also interested in that part of the any casino.

They did cover the KYC information most people look for.

source: https://top69cryptocasinos.com/review/bc-game/

or perhaps you were referring to the overview box (the bullet points sortish)? then yeah, I think it's a good idea to add whether identity verification is mandatory or nah on there.

@OP

I see that there are platforms under "low chances of KYC". I'm curious what are the criteria for this?
387  Economy / Gambling / Re: ✨ JacksClub.io ✨ Daily Contest with Amazing Prices | VIP Rewards | Free Faucet on: January 25, 2024, 05:12:22 PM
I'm impressed to participate there, but it seems I still need more knowledge about payments whether in the form of USDT or BTC, considering that BTC transaction fees are also very high.

The prize is in BTC. but good news for you since bitcoin miner fees has been a lot lower recently. I would also note that bitcoin withdrawals are free in jacksclub  Cool

It seems that betting requirements are also not required so it can be withdrawn easily. I want to participate in the Bitcoin price prediction contest there but there are still questions that are a little annoying.

Yeah, you don't need to wager the whole amount (the prize) or more in order to withdraw.

I say go ahead, it's a free contest that won't cost you anything.
388  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: United Card Test Group. on: January 25, 2024, 03:49:41 PM
500 bucks for 50 folks is 25K USD every week... and among them, one winner will receive 10K USD at the end?

Sounds over the top and frankly rings my alarm bells. Is there a catch? like you have to spend xy amount to unlock yz bucks or something. As for trustpilot reviews, to be honest, I typically ignore it as it is pretty prone to misuse.
389  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are these P2P crypto platforms SCAM? on: January 25, 2024, 03:00:04 PM
I would always recommend making the most out of your identity verification if you're willing to go through it!

Hence I'd advise skipping paxful or similar exchanges

First, their limits are too low for people who don't want to do address verification. Keep in mind that in most custodial exchanges, an ID + selfie alone unlocks far more limits.

Source: https://support.paxful.com/support/solutions/articles/150000104290-limits-and-verification

Second, a lot of full fledged custodial exchanges offers the same kind of hybrid "p2p" along with many more products such as spot, derivatives, etc. which who knows could come in handy for you in the future.

To sum it up, there are better choices for you so why not take a jump lol.
390  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BINANCE AS HOLDER on: January 25, 2024, 02:17:28 PM
OP. I've read your replies and will try to answer as much as I can!  Cheesy

For starters, I highly recommend reading bitcoin basics

1. bitcoiner.guide
2. bitcoin.org
3. learnmeabitcoin.com - it's currently down but this is too good not to mention, try to access the archived pages through web.archive.org in the meantime

2nd, about taxes, well, it differs per country but most places don't tax people for merely holding their coins. Try to see if your country is included in koinly's guides, see: https://koinly.io/guides/ or if you don't mind mentioning your place, I'll try to find one or two guides for you -- if there is, that is.

3rd, exchange1 to exchange2 transfers are generally okay but I'd draw the line at gambling to exchange transfers since exchanges can be hostile with gambling platforms. Binance did not mention gambling on their terms of service which may be a good sign but I'd play it safe and not deposit directly.

It's worth mentioning that custodial exchanges such as binance should not be used as a storage. You are right that exchanges such as binance could withold your funds if they deemed so, hence long term storage should be in a wallet you fully control.

We typically suggest hardware wallets for long term storage as it has a nice balance of security and convenience. For this, see some sources below:

1. Open Source Hardware Wallets
2. https://bitcoiner.guide/wallet/hardware/

As for mobile wallets, if it is a hot wallet (connected to the internet) and something I carry around everyday. I'd treat it as a secondary wallet at best -- for day to day transactions for instance.

Bitcoiner.guide also has a good list of mobile wallets, see: https://bitcoiner.guide/wallet/mobile/
391  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Hidden Portals on: January 25, 2024, 12:42:24 PM
I believe it's the kind of scam where they build trust by letting him make esmall withdraws to make him invest a huge amount of money, and then they disappear.

I discussed all this with him yesterday, but he really wants to believe that it's not a scam. Let's see how it turns out.

P.S.: I'm not my friend xD

RIP.

Well, you did your part as their friend, it's out of your hands if they don't wanna listen, sadly.

BTW, could we get the domain name now that it is more or less confirmed it's a scam? all the more reason to reveal it for awareness and possible reporting e.g. some registars takes action on blatant scam domains.

I suggest wrapping the domain name with code tags, example:
Code:

392  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [WARNING] Scammers use Patreon to send SPAM emails on: January 24, 2024, 09:39:28 PM
Just got off r/patreon and found out you don't need to confirm your email (when you make an account) to follow a creator and receive updates on your email! ofc, scammers would take advantage of this once they find out.

PSA: If you have received a confirmation email from patreon indicating an account was made under your email address, it is likely real and you may wanna take control of this account otherwise, scammers will abuse it to death until patreon.com fix this.

What's Happening:

Scammers have figured out how to get Patreon to send spam for them. It works like this:

1. Scammer goes to patreon.com, and creates an account with your email address
2. Patreon sends a confirmation email to you. The scammer never gets this, but they don't care.
3. The scammer uses the new account to follow their crypto Patreon campaign.
4. The crypto patreon campaign then posts an update on Patreon.
5. Patreon sends the update as an email to all of the (unwitting) followers of the crypto campaign.

All of the emails come from Patreon, so they seem legitimate.

What you can do

Complain to Patreon that they allow spammers to use their services.
1. Take to social media, and tag '@patreon' or '@patreonsupport'
2. Point them to this post, or tell them that they should stop sending notifications to unconfirmed accounts.

Take control of the new Patreon account (if you ever want to use Patreon)
1. Confirm the Patreon account email (make sure it's an email from patreon.com)
2. Change the password (never reuse passwords between web sites)
3. Unfollow the crypto spammers <-- this will stop the spam emails coming

OR, in your email settings, block all email from patreon.com (if you don't care)

@OP, could you mention the reddit post as well on the first post? I think it deserves the extra exposure.
393  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BINANCE AS HOLDER on: January 24, 2024, 08:13:34 PM
Please guys, i didnt find any topic about it. When i was updating my profile, it has a field to add our btc adress. So, i took my deposit adress from binance and added there. But i know this is not the right thing.

So, for a totally newbie, what app, website, source code, anything. What should i do to have an adress that will not be violated?

You mean in our bitcointalk profile? technically, there is no rule that you can't add your deposit address from exchanges but I personally like adding address that I fully control and not directly associated with my personal information -- since identity verification is mandatory in binance.

If you wanna follow the same thing I do, you would need a non-custodial wallet like electrum.org

394  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: lucky check club lottery on: January 24, 2024, 07:53:37 PM
I'm a bit confused.

Do you mean, you own the casino hence the no sales through cryptocurrency? then I suggest to market yourself more on places with crypto-focused audience and/or just in general like SEO. I searched this on google and there's barely any presence Cry

BTW, if you wanna boost your presence here, you could look into some services some members offer: Overview of Bitcointalk Services from Bitcointalk Members

For instance, graphic designers can make a nice ANN thread for you. Campaign managers are kind of an all in one package as they can launch lots of stuff for you depending on your budget and goals like signature campaign, contests, review campaign.
395  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Hidden Portals on: January 24, 2024, 05:40:43 PM
Hello! I've heard about a very mysterious cryptocurrency buying/selling portal. I haven't found its name indexed on any search engine, social media platform, or internet forum. Registration is exclusively by invitation, and as far as I know, they are buying Tether at 10% above its value.

If the platform is too obscure with little to no reputation, it's a hard pass for me.

In any custodial platforms, a good reputation is a must since they hold our coins, not to mention that there has been huge amount of never heard before fake exchanges that scammed people which is basically why the community has been telling people to stick with reputable services to play it safe.

Adding "they're buying above value" doesn't help either... as it could be said too good to be true.

Where did you get this info btw? from a random PM perhaps?

EDIT:

Serious question, do they call themselves "hidden portal" too lol?

We sent a message to the moderators, but have not received a reply (most probably because our account is new). If there are some reliable and recognized members in this forum, that are willing to work with us, please let us know.

No need for mods, just reach out to a reputable escrow from here: Few Trusted Escrow Providers

As for selecting a winner, I suggest bitmover's tool, see: [ANN] Bitcointalk Giveaway Manager

Also, if you wanna remain on bitcoin boards, I suggest changing the reward to BTC otherwise mods will likely move this to altcoin boards

Lol I had gotten the same error when I registered since I used the link on the op + ublock origin.

Nice to see them fixing this issue especially considering how it is one of the most recommended ad blockers here so I'd say it holds a pretty good weight on here.

and as far as prominent members are concerned, I'd say it is the most recommened by them! I personally have gotten mine after reading Leo's post about it (🥹). This is what I feel as well after looking up posts with "ublock origin" on ninjastic, see: https://ninjastic.space/search?content=ublock%20origin
398  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [Searching] No KYC Trading Plattform like Kucoin on: January 24, 2024, 12:06:08 PM
I mean if i send USDT and get BTC i pay 0,5 - 1% fees to fixedfloat + the fees for BTC network that i got the BTC.
If i send BTC to get USDT in ETH Network i pay the ETH Fees and the regular 0,5 - 1% fees but i pay more to fixedfloat, i pay also fees for BTC but why? i mean if i send i already pay fees for the sending of btc.

Because every on chain transaction requires a miner fee which as you may have guessed with the name, goes to the miners. Some exchanges though inflates their withdrawal fee, I'm just not sure with fixedfloat since it's an instant exchange and how much in percentage. In any case, most exchanges will ask you to pay for it.

If you're looking for instant exchanges, try exch.cx as they're pretty transparent with the network/miner fee.

I check Trustpilot for BitMart and MEXC it have really bad reviews in last time? how can i find out if i can trust a plattform? is here any topic for BitMart where i can read about it?

To be fair, all, if not most reputable custodial exchanges have poor reviews on trustpilot.

To name a few:
Bybit - 1.9 overall score
Binance - no overall score but 66% is made up of 1 stars
Coinbase - 1.5 overall score
Kraken - 2.0 overall score
Kucoin - no overall score but 76% is made up of 1 stars

For starters, ignore trustpilot, it's not as reliable as you think.

We recently had a discussion about mexc, check it out: Opinions on Mexc GLobal

Internal Server Error!  I am not sure why I got this message, but I have been getting this message since you opened this thread. Is it because of my location? Looks like others can access your site, but it's not available for all! I am confused, usually, it's different, I can either access the site or not, but this time it shows some error...

I got on a country IP that is typically banned in casinos because of regulations and it went like this:

so maybe your error wasn't because of a country restriction?

It's not about offering the highest rewards, but about the terms and conditions. When registering for the first time, does Moonclub immediately ask the user to complete KYC or when registering an account the user does not need to complete KYC and the user simply fills in personal information as stated in Moonclub's Privacy Policy.

You must have missed this:

hi! no, we don't have a mandatory KYC. The only mandatory verification is email addresses.

The other stuff on privacy policy must be when an account has been flagged by their kyc/aml policies.
400  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buying houses with BTC on: January 22, 2024, 10:43:54 PM
I have recently watched a video where the guy says that it is safer to buy a house with BTC (and other cryptocurrencies) than buying through one real estate agent. If I remember correctly, he says that it can be proven through a NFT.

I know there are already countries that are "crypto-friendly", but it seems to be interesting to prove your house purchase through an NFT.

It's a gimmick lol. I don't think there is a country out there that legally recognizes NFTs as a proof you own a property. What matters are legal documents such as house title/property deed.

That sounds cool, but what about all the regulations and laws of the government? I mean, won't they charge their share? Won't it be possible to get a fine for using crypto instead of FIAT?

Well... laws differs per country. You may wanna read Buying a house with 100% Bitcoin is possible in Portugal for instance.
