Look at that transaction data:

We will finally go above Mays numbers. I still dont understand why May was so special. Nothing unusual beside  last weeks of lock downs in Europe and USA.  Last few months had few good weeks and few bad. October had only good weeks beside the protocol upgrade two days. With a pace like this we might not see less then 20k transaction a day in 2021.

Which most propably implies that we will have a new ATH by July 2021  Cheesy Wink

July seems a long time for ATH.  However, since I'm usually ahead of myself, and you are usually correct, I will take your word for it Cheesy

March 2021
That's where I would put it, With my usual enthusiasm.  I also figured for a BTC ATH by the end of November.  We shall see.  Worth the wait in any case, knowing it is inevitable.

Kinda surreal being substantially $ above dash and LTC, with Bcash in the crosshairs.  The Amazing Monero will displace them all.  Look at that transaction data:

Honestly, I hate graphs like that tell people there will be a period where it's "too late" to buy bitcoin.

It never has been, nor ever will be in the future, too late to buy bitcoin. If it is ever "too late" to buy it, then it ceases to be a store of value, or even worthy of being transactional.

Too Late For Free Zeroes Every 4 Years.  Quite possibly they will be using BTC without even knowing it by then.

Am assortment of coins which I find interesting for various reasons to follow... Only two of which I have a meaningful... Well nevermind that. In fact I almost posted a shot of the third column.. teehee.  Anyway what do you think of that?

I am starting to wonder if White House Market is influencing Monroes price somewhat. I mean something has to be driving this. It's been sustained for a little too long now.

Seems reasonable to me.

Transactions stabilizing at a higher rate (only 5 days of October remaining, on track for 20-30% increase over ATH monthly transactions despite the fork wobble, and already well into a new record) hash rate seems to have found a lower equilibrium around the pre-spike area of +1.5Gh/s.  $price doesn't seem interested in going much lower.  All in all,  barring a huge BTC spike, I'm losing confidence in the downside, short term.  The ham fisted buys on binance from time to time keep pumping.  My interest in clearing a little spending money @ $200CAD is waning as we work the 170-180 range  Tongue  Might just wait for $ATH.  Or $2kCAD #johnalan   Grin Grin

Consider the possibility (probability?) of major grid disruptions or destruction before 2030 due to rapidly changing geo-solar-galactic conditions.  Shit doesn't go straight up forever.  Tech and human population are coming due for a masssive bear market.  Unpopular, I know.

Yeah... sure.... lets all build bunkers and then call it quits. Tongue

Quitting is for losers, but removing some eggs from the basket toward the end of next year would be advisable, IMO.  Hard assets to balance the load a little...

Who missed the bull move to 13k ?

Who sold at the bottom?? Cheesy Cheesy

I have not often sold my Bitcoin in the last 7 years...but when I do "I always' manage to have sold at the bottom. Sad

(hey, it's a gift!) Do this enough, and like 'magic', you will find yourself a Bitcoin Hodl'er before you know it! Smiley

The 'dumbest' move was selling 13 BTC at $3,900.00 then watching it go to like $3,400 and feeling pretty proud of myself

then it goes back up to $13k like now ..then down again..and now back around $13k..so baring health issues....not gonna happen.

I did manage to get 5 BTC back by 'buying' back in much higher than the BTC was worth when I sold it.....so it goes. Sad

Brad

edit: Those 8 BTC I'm still down look kinda 'daunting' to get back now, don't ya know. Sad

I don't understand why people don't understand that with 0.001 BTc in 10 years u could own work force slaves, FOR THEIR ENTIRE LIFE ! Smiley Cheesy Cheesy

Edit: Imagine you having 13000 slaves hand carving in stone to build your own personal pyramid. Smiley

impossibru:
1. 0.001 btc is worth just $10K when btc is at 10mil. each earth inhabitant can have ~0.00278 btc (on average).
2. see #1

U'r a bit thick ... Tongue ... Imagine inflation plz. Smiley a person for the future lives like 100 years on average (lets assume). But 0.001 will not be payment for the year lets say 2031 or 2032... etc... U will actually pay a fraction of that 0.001... They will get 0.00000250 monthly wage or some nonsense like that, depending on what country they live in. But there will be plenty of robots competing for work force in 2030+. And as the years advance deflation kicks in and instead of 0.00000250 corn... they will get even less. Also... the business you will create from their work productivity, you will get most of the corn back from selling their precious "hand crafted-carved stones". Smiley Cheesy Cheesy

or, it turns out that you are wrong and 2030 would be mostly the same as 2019.
inflation, robots...oh, my! are robots inflationary?

Consider the possibility (probability?) of major grid disruptions or destruction before 2030 due to rapidly changing geo-solar-galactic conditions.  Shit doesn't go straight up forever.  Tech and human population are coming due for a masssive bear market.  Unpopular, I know.

Hello everyone!
Can you please tell me if there is a way to change transaction priority (transaction fee) in the new version of GUI Wallet 17.1.0?
If there's no way, how quickly will the transaction be proceed with a fixed fee?

I don't have an answer for the first question. but the TxPool has been pretty consistently held to single and double digit numbers - very high probability of being included in the next block.

I am not alone in expecting BTC to attach a couple more zeroes in the next 5 years (say 10 for the skeptical).  This can't happen one cornhodler at a time.  There needs to be an easier onramp.  There needs to be many more onramps, with larger audiences.  This is a pretty good starting point.  I'm betting that they are working toward full integration.  With fees.  Big ones.  But that will inspire the competition that in turn brings fees into line.  PP's operation is of no interest to me, and I'd advise anyone I know against it, but I am positive that they will have millions more people talking about bitcoin and taking part even if in a thrice removed derivative for now.  Its a big deal. The table is tilted, and the balls are rolling, regardless of what tipped the table.

It's such a "big deal" to PayPal, that they don't even bother to advertise it on their homepage somewhere. The Bitcoin logo is no where to be found.

They don't even bother to tell their 350M users that they've integrated crypto, right on their homepage.

Riddle me that one.
i expect they are attempting a soft start, gauging interest, and looking for kinks.

417  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: October 25, 2020, 03:26:18 AM
*sigh*

Don't use PayPal.  Hate them.  Boycott them.  Whatever.  You  can use Bitcoin and have nothing to do with them.

But to expect them to be anything other than what they are is foolish.  Trusted third parties are security holes etc.  I personally barely use PayPal.  I have an account because of eBay.

But if you think we live in a world where they are just going to blow away like a dry leaf because they see that Bitcoin is the future of peer to peer finance... well I have a bridge to sell you.

And like it or not Bitcoin does not scale on the base layer and stay a distributed consensus.  So if you want to see trustless scaling then maybe you should start working on lnd.  And if you don't like lnd then maybe invent another trustless layer 2.  Grumping about PatPal is not adding anything.  And until there is something better for the masses to use they will use what is available.

sooner or later some payment settlement company would of done it. so it was palpal this time. ive heard the horror stories. but personally ive had zero problems with paypal in like a decade with them. hate me if you want but ill buy some paper corn from paypal. just like i did from robinhood. small amounts of course but gotta try it.

realistically though, how would you have preferred this to go down. as you pointed out, corn doesnt scale. layer two is still a mess. and clearinghouses seem the natural answer. a trustless clearinghouse, if such a thing can exist.

I have used paypal for 17 years. I had a decent ebay business. I would purchase new apple mac minis

and mod them to be sold on ebay. I estimate I did over 1000 sales using ebay and paypal.

No major issues.

So I have been here since 2012

coins were under 10 bucks.

I have read we have to have adoption to mainstream.

Well here is the first true mainstream player in on btc lets get more major players....maybe we see 100k

Have not we have had a world wide market reset due to covid-19?

So why not a world wide adaptation of btc by the major players.

Now is the time for them to do it as it is still cheap.

240billion is not that much to  wrap into the payment /investment market.

Hex officially passed moneros marketcap: https://nomics.com/  I mention it on here because this shit was free to claim if you owned bitcoin back nn december 2nd and over $3billion worth of bitcoin signed a message with their address to freeclaim.

Don't get me wrong i still think monero is solid but hex has gained me so fucking much this year instead of the measly monero gains.

Enjoy your gaynz.

I'll continue to enjoy my sound money.

Both Monero and Bitcoin are destined to go up this and most likely whole next year. Swings down as Monero had last two days will for sure happen but general trend will be up. I dont see any other way. Number of transactions will be by far highest in October, no matter the protocol upgrade bad two days. Emission inflation is at 1.58%. That is just like Gold. Everything under $200 for all year high does not sound nice.

I agree, though I think there are too many weak hands to ever see Monero > 1KUSD.

Though I think we will probably see XMR/BTC at 0.008 with BTC at 50K some day, so say 400usd for XMR.

FWIW I've held from 7usd to 480usd and back.

So it's all over.  The ATH is well above any chance of a new ATH.  Ever.  Might as well shut down development.  A lot of people putting a LOT of effort into something that will never succeed.  Too bad, things were looking good.  Clearly we are all better off trading for BTC here and now for ~0.01 BTC/XMR.   Oh.  You first.  Roll Eyes
