401  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Youtube starts campaign of mass censorship and demonetization on: June 06, 2019, 09:15:07 AM
Are there any good YouTube alternatives? https://d.tube/ is one which seems vaguely decentralized, though its underlying steem and ipfs platforms are naïve "do the first thing which comes to mind" systems. I have zero confidence in the robustness of these systems, and it's not even a "perfect is the enemy of good" situation, since dtube is also pretty janky. It's disappointing, though I guess there just aren't enough people interested in this stuff to put enough man-hours into it.

Dtube is not really a viable alternative and I say that as a massive fan of the Steem platform in general.
You cannot watch videos that are older than 7 days and the underlying system for uploading and automatically converting videos leaves much to be desired.

I think LBRY is doing a much better job in that regard, even though monetization is still somewhat of a problem.
There you can instantly back up your entire Youtube account and receive LBRY credits for it, depending on how many Youtube subscribers you have.

You can easily watch older videos (contrary to Dtube) & people can tip video creators with the free LBRY credits they receive.

Mind you, LBRY is created as a protocol, any service, app or website can make use of LBRY. It's completely open-source as well.

402  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Crowdfunding for a Job. Lets work together on: June 06, 2019, 08:53:15 AM
I have no idea what you're actually looking for, what do you need crowdfunding for exactly? To build a website?
Also, do you have any examples of your work?
403  Other / Meta / Suspicious thread - Possibly filled with sockpuppet accounts on: June 06, 2019, 08:40:59 AM
I might be completely wrong about this, but i think I might have come across a thread that's filled with sockpuppet accounts that are posting very similar replies.
Replies that are different enough, so they don't count as plagiarism, but the writing style just seems very similar.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5136002.0

Focus on the newbie accounts that only have around 50 posts, all those replies are very similar.

Here's what I found as well, in the OP, the user libercrypto uses a referral link:

Hello everyone.

I recently found out about this new blogging platform, that is looking to take the crown from Steemit.

Instead of having their own native token, you can currently earn two tokens on the platform from tipping articles (upvoting that is free) and writing content. Currently the two tokens that you can earn are :-

1 - Bounty0x tokens (BNTY) - Ranked 812th on CMC - MarketCap - 1,156,582
2 - HYDRO tokens (HYDRO) - Ranked 388th on CMC - MarketCap - 7,251,634

In the last month they have doubled their userbase two months in a row (Currently at over 6,000 registered users).

I am a huge fan of the project so far and I have already made more cash from this platform than Steemit. What do you think about the platform? Is anyone else here a user? What are the downfalls of it?

If you want to read the update you can do by clicking on the link below.

https://www.publish0x.com/publish0x-official-blog/publish0x-april-update-xyvejd?a=GELe3POa69

Thanks and look forward to your responses.

Then I went over his last posts and he replied to another thread, where in the OP someone uses the same referral link as him:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5129066.msg50497943#msg50497943

(can't quote because thread is locked)

Here as well:

Hello everyone,

I have written this article to help anyone who wants to create a MyEtherWallet, if there is any feedback to the article, it would be very much appreciated. Also I would check out the platform I wrote the article on, I see it as the next steemit and you can earn tokens for writing content and upvoting articles.

https://www.publish0x.com/crypto-101/how-to-create-your-first-crypto-wallet-with-myetherwallet-xdqde?a=GELe3POa69

Also if you have any ideas of what I should write about, leave a comment!

The "a=GELe3POa69" seems to be a referral link that you can add to any URL from Bounty0x, just too much coincidence that the same one would be used multiple times by different people.

From the bounty0x website:

Edit:

Btw, I know it's not against the rules to have multiple accounts, but here it's being used to bump topics & spam referral links.
404  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk Charity Fund on: June 05, 2019, 02:22:17 PM
I've thought before about giving forum badges (or maybe even forum BTC credit) for donating x BTC to Bitcoin-accepting charities,

No theymos don't involves badges, I see a situation where forum users will only donate just to be recognized via badges which goes against the whole idea of charity. I'll love it, if every one could donate anonymously e.g I won't what to be judge based on the amount of bitcoin I can afford to donate.

And about the selection of charity organization, to avoid sending funds to fake charity we should only accept registered charitys and if possible only those that accepts bitcoin, this will encourage more charity into accepting bitcoin so they can tap into the blessing coming from Bitcointalk.org as a result we are also contributing to the adoption of bitcoin. Also the charity selection should be distributed across all countries and continents.

I respectfully disagree with that notion. In the end, who cares that people are just donating to get recognition?
The end goal is to support charities that are doing something good in the world, for me that isn't "tainted" by the fact that some people are donating because of some form of personal gain.

Bitcoin could certainly use the positive press & the charities could certainly use the money.
Though I'd make sure every charity is properly vetted & only those that have low amounts of overhead are added, how much is debatable of course. (You have websites that track this)
405  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The most-traded stablecoin - Tether - is now available on CoinDeal on: June 05, 2019, 02:02:13 PM
First of all, this is Bitcoin Discussion and TUSD is an altcoin, you should move this to Altcoin Discussion.
Second, I wouldn't use Tether in a million years, they provide almost no transparency about their backing in USD.

Popularity is not a great measurement of a good altcoin.

Tether is still the best stablecoin than other present in the market.

Oh please  Roll Eyes

For rich people, gambling is a joy, and they seek pleasure in it. They use the money to find comfort and fun in gambling. Poor people buy lottery with the hope of changing their lives and the dream of becoming rich with gambling. Two worlds with two different ways of thinking are making things separate.

there not so much difference. most lottery winers  among poor people will get lower  prizes, comparable to what they spend on lotteries, and will be happy even their life is not going to change.  every win, even small is good.

I don't think it matters that much when you play the lottery, the chances of winning are so small, that even a rich person can't possibly buy enough tickets to get much greater odds.
Unless it's a very small scale lottery of course, but even then the person who just buys one ticket can win.

That's the whole point of the lottery really, getting a chance to win a massive amount of money for a very small wager.
407  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: LA TOKEN IS A SCAM EXCHANGE BEWARE OF THEM on: June 05, 2019, 11:10:02 AM
that is bad news.  I think Latoken is a good exchange.  Have you contacted the Latoken Team? for a while, I assume that the Latoken system is maintenance. so your transaction is pending. and that take a long time to solve it.
Not in maintenance but the changes of minimum deposit is really strange, not sure if why its needed to be changes that quick and if they value
a customer they can allow this deposit and let OP to do the trade if he wanted to use the platform,.

Exactly, if this story is true than it does seem pretty scammy to me.
I mean what are the chances of them revising their minimum deposit amounts, just when OP deposited?

The fact that it got changed back is even more weirder.

Mistakes happen, but they should send back the tokens immediately.
408  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Localbitcoins removes face to face cash trades on: June 05, 2019, 10:45:53 AM
Yeah, this is pretty bad news, I did quite a lot of OTC trades on there, but luckily this won't affect me personally.
I got contact details of the people who I did those trades with and can still meet up with them.

Really sucks for other people though.
409  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Looking to partner for coin project on: June 04, 2019, 07:00:50 PM
I won't answer posts that are unrelated to this request either your with me or no.

Lol, nice way to get get someone interested in your project.
How would someone know if they're 'with you', when you add practically no information about what your project is all about?
410  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: STEEM will rise again on: June 04, 2019, 06:04:16 PM
I've been buying Steem every week and it's not for long-term investment purposes, well at least that not why I mainly buy it.
It just gives me more stake on the platform and having more stake increases my daily rewards.

Remember it's POS, so you can also earn with your stake, if you delegate to the right services.
411  Other / Meta / Re: [UNBAN APPEAL] MintDice on: June 04, 2019, 05:46:33 PM
The fact that you've never participated in a signature campaign is definitely in your favor.
Though, that also makes it completely ludicrous that someone plagiarized using your account...

What benefit does it give 'you' to plagiarize when it's not to increase your post count for a signature campaign.
412  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A Casino On Steem Blockchain on: June 04, 2019, 05:04:18 PM

Although magicdice exit scammed, it was most 'stable' gambling dapp on steem. MD dev just killed the golden goose no other current gambling dapp comes near it.

Yeah, how stupid can you be, I mean all they had to do was just wait and they would have profited no matter what...
I've heard rumors that it might have been the guy behind Dmania who ran the website, not sure about that myself though.

I'm glad I pulled my delegation a couple of months ago, but I did have a couple of referrals.
413  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Tron founder Justin Sun announced the auction of buffett’s expensive lunch on: June 04, 2019, 04:55:31 PM
We should really have a bet over at the gambling board about whether Buffet will come out in support of Bitcoin after this lunch.
I personally think it's not very likely, but I do think that this is what Justin Sun intends to do; convince Buffet of the positive aspects of cryptocurrency.
414  Other / Meta / Re: [UNBAN APPEAL] MintDice on: June 04, 2019, 01:32:14 PM
I sent a PM to Hilariousandco a little while ago detailing this exact situation simply asking if I could go on posting and received no response. I'm sure they are busy.

The plagiarist doesn't have any account of their own on BitcoinTalk. I know their real name if they should be doxxed here but I doubt that's what anyone wants. But if that's procedure, I'm happy to provide that information to the proper parties and a screenshot of their stated confession that was written to me earlier. I could provide details/screenshots from messengers that go all the way back to the beginning of time with this particular individual if that was necessary, though I doubt anyone would want to see that.

As I formerly asked, if outside posting is not allowed, is there a general time frame resolutions take?

Thank you

This is just my opinion, but I don't think you should doxx anyone. I know it's too late, but sharing your account with that many people is just a recipe for disaster, as you've just found out.
AFAIK there isn't a time-frame for 'resolutions', seems like a pretty open/shut case to me.

The absolute best you can hope for is a temp ban and a 2 year signature ban. Only if you brought value to the forum, which I don't think is the case since you only had little over 400 posts.
415  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: How important is the right .com Crypto domain name to you for your project? on: June 04, 2019, 01:10:30 PM
I'd be prepared to spend at least a couple thousand dollars on it, depending what the domain is of course.
I definitely wouldn't go 5 figures just on the domain name, that kind of money can be spent better than that.

While it's true that a .com has a bit of an advantage with regards to SEO, I think the difference with other domains is negligible.
I personally wouldn't mind too much opting for a .io
416  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Steemit.com: Blogging is the new Mining on: June 03, 2019, 09:19:21 AM
What services which allow to multiply our STEEM (Steem Power/ by leasing etc) are the most attractive now?
What are the ways to earn additional STEEM at all? I heard about services which allow to delegate votes or so - I am looking for the best way to allow my SPs to not lay useless when I am not using steem Wink

Delegate to a bid bot such as smartsteem or upmewhale and they will send your share of the bids daily.

That may not be the highest return possible (and probably isn't) but it is definitely the easiest by far.

You can find a list of operating bid bots here: https://steembottracker.com/

Isn't there a more ethical way to earn rewards on our stake?
Not that I'm completely against bid bots, but I'd rather invest in something that benefits Steem overall.

Also, surprised to see you here, didn't know you were an active Bitcointalk user Tongue

Sure, you can curate yourself or delegate to a curator and agree to split the rewards somehow. However, earnings will be a lot less than a bid bot. Alternately you can try to find a paid lease deal (eg. via dlease) where the lessee isn't just looking to self-vote or beef up their bid bot. Not necessarily easy, but perhaps possible.

Unfortunately, the incentives on the Steem blockchain are pretty broken, so when someone asks what is the best way to earn a return and someone asks how to benefit Steem the answers are a lot more different than I would like. I'd like to think that the incentives can be reworked and and better aligned, and that this can happen relatively soon, but there is no way to know for sure whether or when that will actually happen.

Finding a lease through Dlease is a pretty good idea, I've secured leases myself through Dlease under those exact conditions.
The one problem with that is actually finding people who are seeking a lease, without them wanting to profit of off it.

Not sure if there are a lot of people left who manually curate content, I reckon those are the kinds of people who would be looking for a lease like that, without wanting to use it to self-vote or sell their votes.

Yeah indeed, I've been following the news regarding the possible adjustment of the rewards curve (linear to convergent linear). I guess we'll have to see what kind of effect it has in practice, if it works as intended, we might see an increase in manual curation again, if I understand the concept correctly that is.
417  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitblender shutting down? on: May 30, 2019, 09:54:28 PM
Is an unfortunate information coming in to the forum, I'm just reading this thread now. I hope people got their coin back?. I think chipmixer is the one currently available for anonymous services.
I hope Chipmixer will not stop their operation so we can still have enjoy mixing our coins and will retain our anonymity in the space.
Chipmixer is one of the trusted mixer here and I can vouch this based on my experience.

2 mixers are down so far, but I'm not expecting there will be new big mixer that will or be shut down.
We know the reason for bestmixer's shut down, but bitblender is just the decision of the owner to stop and until now we are only seeing speculation on the reasons why they shut down.

Is there any word at all from Chipmixer regarding all of this?
I wouldn't even know what jurisdiction they are in, so I hope they don't have their servers in any European countries.

Might be the end of public Bitcoin mixers...
418  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Game of Thrones - Who will rule? Odds and betting discussion [Odds updated!] on: May 30, 2019, 08:42:37 PM
I'm probably the only who who doesn't think season 8 was that bad, I really enjoyed it Tongue
Well, except episode 3, that was way too dark to see anything.

I mean everyone wanted to see that epic battle and in the end all the scenes were just way too dark.
419  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What are you buying? on: May 30, 2019, 03:09:26 PM
The only coin I'm actually buying these days is Steem. I'm not saying it's a good investment, but that's not the reason why I'm buying it.
Purely buying it for its utility, I have a pretty high-ranking, popular blog on Steemit and if I want to grow even further, I kinda have to increase my own stake on the platform.

I mainly use my Steem for upvoting other people's posts & to get a little bit of passive income by delegating.
420  Economy / Economics / Re: Cryptonites - A ONCE IN A LIFETIME OPPORTUNITY for Women, em. markets and Africa on: May 30, 2019, 01:24:00 PM
I don't see why people are so amaze when women are earning in crypto?
Why would they be amazed about it ? crypto is for everyone to use it is not just for a man there is no gender require for crypto right ,
So why is it so big of a deal when women enters crypto?
It is true it would help a lot specially for those who have child and only at their house it could give them extra money .

It's probably because there are significantly less women interested in cryptocurrencies, I mean it's the same in the finance sector in general.
Don't ask me for the reasons why that is, I'm just stating simple facts that are based on different research statistics.
