401  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How often do you transact in the real world with your bitcoin or digital money? on: May 30, 2022, 12:22:59 PM
Funny enough this was when I didn't even know anything about bitcoin and someone might ask how. I remember mentioning in some of my other posts how a friend or colleague actually introduced me to Bitcoin but we were to use it to pay for a service online which we did back in 2016 I guess but since I really came to know Bitcoin, I haven't spent it directly on paying for anything lately and really no shops that accept Bitcoin in my immediate area too.
402  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The first gas station to accept Bitcoin in my region on: May 29, 2022, 07:28:59 AM
I am really happy to see the picture. I'm glad to see Bitcoin being used in any established business. But since it is supposed to be a Nigerian filling station, it would be effective for everyone if it was called Details and if it was actually agreed upon. Because as far as ii know cryptocurrency is still banned in Nigeria.
Well, Cryptocurrency is actually not Banned in Nigeria it is just the financial institutions that are restricted from allowing crypto trading but thousands of Nigerians still trade cryptocurrencies daily and a major crypto exchange like Binance has been sponsoring major TV programs in the country, however, it is a good step seeing a thing like this happening to bring more exposure to Bitcoin in the country.
403  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The World cup 2022 missed a big business opportunity! on: May 29, 2022, 07:13:35 AM
FIFA could sell Tickets as NFT and ticket owners could resell it again , it could be never lasting business! Personally I would like to have one for my collection! What do you think?

Are we forgetting something this is FIFA, the governing body of the world, I don't think FIFA would consider something that isn't well world wide spread, FIFA still maintaining it's old ways is for everyone to feel involved, like there are people who doesn't even understand what NFT is and already see it as an unnecessary complications this might affect the wide sale. So I think FIFA always put lots of things into consideration.
I agree with you. There is still the problem of the global acceptance/adoption of cryptocurrency in general talk less of NFTs and FIFA/Football is a global phenomenon now so we could see limitations with FIFA on NFT tickets in that regard.
404  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: This can make alts loses more value than ever on: May 29, 2022, 06:55:58 AM
Why are you aftaid? If eth goes down you get to buy more. If it goes up you make profits against FIAT. It is a win win strategy. You simply can’t lose by holding eth. Would you be mad if eth was at $10 tomorrow? If yes, then you shouldn’t be holding eth. $10 eth is like a dream came true for me. I would buy the whole fucking thing.
If you have been Hodling ETH from the price of $3k to even $2k and the price drops down to $10 Shocked which was back in 2016-'17 price, of cause people would be worried even though we believe there is a chance of reversal but how long will that be, but, if you are just going to Invest, as you said, of cause I am all in cos there is a better chance of making big profits going forward regardless of the time.
405  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BNB or ETH ? on: May 28, 2022, 01:36:07 PM
What's your ultimate choice? Or both?  Smiley
Both coins are good for me, as I have always had them on my list of coins for investment. Both have contributed to the crypto ecosystem in terms of providing enabling Networks and undoubtedly have great potential for ROI which is what we are really looking at when it comes to your investment.
406  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Habitual Bitcoin Buyer-Not what you think on: May 28, 2022, 11:53:01 AM
ok, I know for a fact that I am not the only one, but Im having an issue with it. I discovered several months ago, that I had a personal liquidity issue. My income is decent, but have little to no liquid savings. If I save a few hundred bucks, by the end of the month, it has gone into bitcoin. The ideal picture is to have an emergency cash savings and to have some dry powder on the sides to buy the dips or DCA into my bags, however, I end up DCA-ing anything I have left over or think that I might have left over after bills and even then, sometimes, I may sacrifice $100 of a $300 bill knowing it does not have to be paid for another week.
I want to stack as many sats as possible especially at its current price range, but it has become almost a destructive behavior or a sickness. I DCA into BTC everyweek on a schedule, but there is alot of extra being bought. You would think I was in a hurry or something like its going to go to 500,000 and never come back. (mental perception)lol. I know I need to instill some discipline and get cash plush especially with our economic outlook right now and be able to weather the storm if it comes without having to sell to cover an emergency or a bill. If I was single with no mortgage and no kids, I wouldnt care but.....

How have some of you stopped doing this over leveraging. Crypto rich but cash poor. Tips and advice appreciated.
I believe there should be a balance here. from what you earn know what percentage is there that will go into Bitcoin investment and reserve for daily spending considering that most of our spending is still very much dependent on fiat currency since there are not many readily Bitcoin-accepting stores around. I believe every Business/investment is a gradual thing and build it up slowly over time so you don't have to go all-in every time.
407  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Smart decision I made toward the end of the bull run on: May 27, 2022, 07:43:13 AM
How do you make a profit if the price of btc keeps falling continue? btc bull market will not come very soon and i do not see any possibility of it. But a good way for me is that you can sell altcoins if you want by converting to usdt then trading by choosing the best token from binance or kucoin.

OP cannot profit if the market keeps falling but holding bitcoin will give OP peace of mind and bitcoin is a long term hold, in the long run bitcoin will go up, not down. It's a wiser decision to keep holding altcoins that could die if the bear market lasts.

During a bear market, you have no guarantee that you will make a profit from tokens on binance, while bitcoin is constantly falling in price.
True. If you are not a good trader then, converting most Alts to Bitcoin, Ethereum, and BNB for me is the best cos those you can have more assurance of not going under even with the bear market pressure however, I believe some good traders do still make profits scalping the bear market but you have to know what you are doing for that to happen.
408  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: HODL on: May 27, 2022, 05:23:59 AM
My portfolio is a wide net. 50% BTC & ETH. It's fascinating watching altcoin behavior in this downward spiral. Some unexpected surprises... Braintrust 😉. I haven't invested more than I'm willing to lose. Though down about 55% I'm in for the long term. HODL !!!
Same guys telling you btc going was to 100k, 200k, 300k, 500k are the same guys telling you 20k, 12k, 8k 3k. Everyone is on their own, even the big corporations and large investors. No telling where this thing is going. they want u to sell when they buy and vice versa, use influencers as a counter trade, when they say to buy its probably the time to sell and vice versa.
I'm just going to hold and dca
I keep saying this, If you believe or invest in the right crypto projects and not some shitcoins might not have the chance to recover from this or further dip that may happen, then you are good, just HPDL. We have witnessed this type of dip in the market before but only if you are able to HODL through that you will be good but this does not mean if you have sold earlier and Hodl on to your stablecoins and were able to buy back around the bottom wouldn't have been better but at this moment, HODL and DCA too as you said.
409  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The bitcoin price drop is an excellent time to buy bitcoins on: May 26, 2022, 05:44:58 AM
While Bitcoin price drop is an opportunity to buy Bitcoins, it is important to do that with caution. Robert Kiyosaki, the author of the book, Rich Dad, Poor Dad, have speculated that Bitcoin might fall to $24000.00 (https://news.bitcoin.com/rich-dad-poor-dads-robert-kiyosaki-biggest-crash-in-world-history-24k-bitcoin-price/)   Kiyosaki is a renowned entrepreneur and business man and I think he is worth listening to. Kiyosaki is a bitcoin enthusiast. He believes that the U.S. dollar is dying as the government continues to give people free money. "Do not save. Buy gold, silver, bitcoin. Dollar is dying,” he said in April last year. What is important is to invest only what you can afford to loose. We note that what he made was just a prediction, the market may not fall to that level, or may even fall lower.
I am not really worried about whether the market will fall some more according to what some might be predicting but the thing is, will it recover at some point regardless of whether it falls below here or it is going to be from this point? and like we all know, even when the market is falling, you shouldn't just buy all at a go DCA is a good way to go as long as the market is not confirmed as DEAD Smiley investing in all the dips if you have the means is ok.
410  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Great Bitcoin Secret Revealed on: May 26, 2022, 05:27:41 AM
Where is your bitcoin if after paying $40,000 only the swap of symbols happened in your electronic address? This: "0", changed into this: "1". What exactly is "meaningful"?
It's meaningful if we both agree it is. It's as simple as that.

After that, mathematical symbol "0" was swapped for this symbol: "1". And that means you are "free".
If they later find others who're willing to give their goods & services for a currency that is controlled by no financial institutions, it is called freedom. Monetary authorities are run by people who may abuse their position, against the rest, for their own benefit. They're central points of failure.

Humans do mistakes, whether those happen on purpose or not, and those mistakes have consequences. However, if a financial institution (such as a central bank) does a mistake, its impact is potentially on the entire economy. And it is highly likely that people will, sooner or later, abuse their power.

The fact that no one is able to change a symbol in your address, making it censorship resistant
It is clear that you haven't understood the basics. Censorship resistance comes from the lack of feasibility to reverse a transaction, not to change symbols on addresses.
What is meaningful? Where are the transactions in the bitcoin system?

A transaction is a completed agreement between a buyer and a seller to exchange goods, services, or financial assets in return for money.

Where's good, where's service, money, asset... if is the only thing that's going on is the change of numbers next to addresses?

I really don't get all this your hatred for Bitcoin but what I don't understand is how do you understand Fiat currency and not Bitcoin? So back in the years when there was no paper money and people would do trade by bather and later cowries and eventually paper money, how did all this method got accepted? because the people accepted them. So some ink can be printed on paper and because the government told you that is it's worth you accepted it and if that same value is transmitted digitally for transactions you still accept it even without the physical nature and Bitcoin is difficult for you to understand?

411  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What approach do you expect from the Government if your Country adopt bitcoin? on: May 24, 2022, 06:44:47 AM
I really don't see adoption as a thing if you are referring to Adoption in terms of being a Government legal tender. Let them just allow for trading/investment like it has always been and those that want to accept it for payments can do so because the Government of my Country as I know them, will be the worst with laws and regulations if they were to adopt Bitcoin.
412  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: At what age did you start learning about bitcoin? on: May 24, 2022, 06:31:12 AM
I was first introduced to Bitcoin actually by a friend and I believe that was back around 2015-16 I guess but I didn't really take seriousness to it or maybe because he too didn't really educate me on investing in it other than we can buy it to pay for a service we wanted to do at that time but a couple of years down the line, my sister was the one that made me start investing properly in Bitcoin and am still here now.
413  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will "hyperbitcoinization" become a reality? on: May 23, 2022, 11:13:51 AM
For those unaware, "hyperbitcoinization" means the adoption of Bitcoin at a large scale worldwide making it the standard (global) unit of account.
Just call it mass adoption so that there is no need to also give definition Smiley

Quote
In a "hyperbitcoinized" world, you would pay for anything using Bitcoin instead of Fiat.
Why "instead" of fiat and not "alongside" fiat? I don't think bitcoin will ever replace fiat, it also wasn't meant to replace it either. In mass adoption you will see almost every place accepting bitcoin payments just as they accept fiat payments, credit cards, etc.

Quote
And what better way than ditching Fiat in favor of Bitcoin?
I don't think it is possible to ditch fiat in the foreseeable future. We live in a centralized world and worst of all people are used to certain things that won't change that easily.
Although I agree that with the increasing inflation people will have another incentive to convert their fiat (part of it at least) to bitcoin to have a chance of surviving the increasing prices.
I agree with you and I believe some similar topics have been discussed before and quite frankly, I too don't see Fiat being replaced by Bitcoin because of some factors we already know. I wouldn't want to accept Bitcoin if I was a retailer or service provider during the bear market except I have to increase the amount of BTC/goods/service than previously charged since the cost of BTC has gone down and buyers might not want to pay cos of the increase.
As you said, they can coexist and people have their choices on whether to spend directly or save as an investment.

414  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A time people have been waiting for bitcoin to drop on: May 23, 2022, 10:59:29 AM
Hello 👋
Okay, presently I want to ask why the sudden panicking around the media and forum here.
I could ones remembered when bitcoin was +$69k and everyone seems to be panicking for the price to get 32k or below. Today we have another chance to buy very low yet people still waiting for the price to drop even more lower.
I want to know when is the best time to buy or waiting more dip to buy and what if the price turns back to bull?
What do we do?
What does this tells you, today we have more talkers than doers that's why even when people complain about the price of Bitcoin being too high and how they wish the market will drop so that they can buy, and when the price drops we still have people complaining that the price is dropping instead of buying. So at the end of the day, it rests on the investor, if you can take advantage of the price drop believing that there will be a recovery after that, and even if it dips more and there are extra funds, you buy some more.
415  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So my portfolio is down %70...too late to pull back now I guess on: May 22, 2022, 02:30:50 PM
This downtrend has been detrimental to my health (mental health). Exactly %70 just now. No lunch money type of money either.

Have we ever experienced this kind of downtrend before?? What's the latest on how long this might last, or if it's even going to recover.
I wouldn't worry much because the market has witnessed this before and as far as you have invested in good projects and not shitcoins, I believe you should be good even if it will take years. Just stop looking at your wallet every time so that you don't give yourself a heart attack.
416  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Don't trade your Bitcoin like Laszlo Hanyecz on: May 22, 2022, 02:27:07 PM
I hate people spending their bitcoin sort of being 'demonized', as there's definitely nothing wrong with what the dude did. He publicly showed that bitcoin can actually be used as a currency. Big achievement, if anything.
Exactly! Used Bitcoin as a currency, spend it, earn it, save it. Adoption is what can make Bitcoin grow.
Laszlo didn't spend all his Bitcoin on pizza, he had enough left. Bitcoin wouldn't be worth much if only a few guys would have kept all of it for themselves.
True that but I think people are more concerned now about that spending because of what Bitcoin is today and its worth but not really the spending. Looking at the worth of those Bitcoin today and the number of pizzas they were spent on is imbalanced if I may say it like that but people have to understand that we cannot compare then and now and people can actually spend because thats part of its essence too, I believe.
417  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could inheriting Bitcoin from love ones be that difficult? on: May 22, 2022, 02:12:28 PM
I don't think there's an alternative to just leaving access to your keys; at least right now. Don't just leave the keys though, probably have a simple written instructions if your brother/mother/wife/etc doesn't know how to import keys into a new device and things like that.

A certain ethereum wallet called Argent has this "social backup" feature that is quite interesting (it's pretty much something like a multisig, but idk how it works at the back-end), but I'm not too much of a fan of.

That’s interesting they already started working on something like this. Though it feels like they have not made this so called Argent feature out of family to family pass on feature. I still think that writing up the private keys and having back  ups with your close blood relation that is mother father or bro-sis has got no harm at all. Obviously that entirely depends on how your relationships have been. If no trust then just write up the codes with your lawyer in a will and stay safe. With the crypto currency’s gaining value everyone these  days started to posses one so this would be easier in the near future to circulate around the family.
Just like the OP has mentioned, I too noticed this has been discussed several times in this forum, and investors are actually worried about this but some of us might not want to go too technical in this regard as @BlackHatCoiner explained and I think a simple sealed instruction with your wallet private keys with your lawyer for the family to be opened after that incident would be easier for some but somehow, this is something to be highly considered.
418  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NFT and photographers on: May 20, 2022, 02:48:12 PM
For some reason, NFTs still haven't sat well with me in terms of Investment also considering the few comments I have also read here too but this is not to put your interest down but it is just that unlike cryptocurrencies even if those can be argued about too but I too will hopefully need some rigorous convictions about NFTs investment.
419  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to grow my wallet? on: May 19, 2022, 11:09:19 AM
You've made a good question. The common mistake in the crypto space is falling down in greediness. There are many new investors who get good return after entering the crypto space but they can not control their emotion and hold it for getting more and finally get loss. So my advice is if you have made a good profit from any trade then you can sell it as early as possible and withdraw your investment money.

This is a common mistake with newbies they cannot control their greed leading to losses, we should not be too greedy and set goals that are too far away to be achieved. Crypto is volatile, so if you have made a substantial profit or have reached your goal then it is best to cash out.  We can reinvest or continue to invest in other projects later but don't be too hasty, do your research before investing.
Well, that might continue to happen until newbies understand that that notion they have coming into crypto investment about quick gains is not so and begin to see investment as a long term thing which will further boost their need to properly research projects before investment and can also lead to being able to grow their (Portfolio) wallet. It's all about Research, patience, and taking the right decision.
420  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you own 1 Bitcoin? (2022 edition) on: May 19, 2022, 10:46:59 AM
With the price in 2022 VS the price back then I think a lot more people are going to be a lot more hesitant to answer.

Too much risk of bad actors and everything else. Telling people on a public forum you have $800 is a lot less of a risk then telling them you have $30500  $30000 $29250 $29000
Fine, if this keeps up people will tell you  Wink

-Dave

Right. Voted also but do these types of pull actually show a true representation of the reality of the question? and as @mk4 said here,

So the authorities finally breached Bitcointalk huh? Freakin IRS and their taxes mate. Leave me alone smh. /s

won't some people just feel this is some way to find and track people's investments in Bitcoin by giving out such info Huh
