Sp0tter:
I am not showing photo/video of my prototype for the same reason BFL has not announced they have a prototype. If it is any consolation to you, such video could be easily faked. When I have a finalized production model I will display photos on this forum and on my web site just like I did with the MMQ.
AmDD:
we will continue to support the ModMiner quad as long as people still use them. We are ready to bring the TLM bitstream to the MMQ but are waiting on a response from eldentyrel to move forward with it.

wow, the response for this is bigger than I thought it would be, plus I have been dropping hints around the forum for months and talking to a lot of people about this so I did not realize it would be that big of a surprise
lets just drop the thing with giga - but believe me if you have been through what I have been through with him - you would react the exact same way.
I will get to Pm's and email inquiries as soon as I can, getting a lot of questions.

the TRUTH is this.
Gigavps and I have been arguing since spring of last year, he has gone out of his way to make me look bad time and time again - he can say whatever he wants but he knows the truth. He does not like me and he knows it.
The other truth is there are several people on this forum that have known I have been working on an ASIC Bitcoin mining device as far back as May or June...
I have to go get dinner for the kids, the situation is pretty straight forward.
I manufacture and sell Bitcoin Mining devices, we believe we have a prototype that will compete with BFL, we are taking pre-orders on what will become our new production model and flag ship product, if for whatever reason you think I am making this up please just don't buy it.
Thank you,
bbl -Tom

I am sorry for the controversy.
anyways here are some more specific details for those who are interested on how BTCFPGA produced our first 4th gen prototype
Like the ModMiner quad I leased the design from someone else. Also like the ModMiner quad this project is being partially funded by lenders in the Bitcointalk lending syndicate. We contracted a well known overseas company to provide us with a SHA256 hashing core that could be applied to Bitcoin mining, this company is one of the top design firms in the world when it comes to SHA256 IP cores. We leased what is called an RTL design which allows us to use any target ASIC process technology of our choice, once we had the core design we spent some money to have some made (this took some time) and turned those over to the hardware development team. We have two guys which I have no problem admitting are much smarter than I am who have come up with a working development board using multiple instances of the hashing core I indicated above. They have a very very (did I mention very?) primitive hacked together mining program that is being used to test, testing has been going on for about 2 weeks now with positive enough results that encouraged me to go public with our next generation of Bitcoin mining product. The hardware guys are still working on finalizing the pcb board design and there is a lot of firmware and software work that needs to be completed.
A lot of people are asking about specific details about the chips and also about power usage, and the only reason I am at all reluctant to answer these questions is because I dont want to say something now and be wrong about or have it change.
I will ask my hardware guys to make a detailed spec sheet of the chip and of estimated power draw from the production board and I will post it as soon as possible.
Again please note I am taking pre-orders on a prototype that is slated to become the production model for the bASIC mining device. At this time it is only a prototype, I will not be showing any video/photo proof until we have a finalized production model if this makes you feel uncomfortable at all please do not make a pre-order purchase until the production model is complete and posted as so on our web site.
Thank you for your interest in the ModMiner Quad / bASIC High Efficiency Bitcoin Mining Units.

I hope they arent gonna be that crappy white color like your fpgas lol
we can have the pcb boards silk screened to be any color pretty much have not gotten that far yet to pick out a color i just hate that standard green pcb look The white was actually my idea, lol is it really that ugly?

it is absolutely ridiculous and asinine to try and bully someone into revealing photos and video of a prototype in a market such as this. I am sure BFL does have a prototype, if they do not have a prototype there is no way in hell they will be shipping anything in November.
I do not know for what reason I would make this up, I have never scammed or done wrong to anyone on this forum ever, I delivered on the ModMiner quad and I will deliver on this, if for whatever reason you think I am making this up please by all means do not buy it. I will not be bullied into doing something I do not feel comfortable doing.
Hi Tom, I have simply asked for a video since YOU have stated that you have a prototype. Please tell me, how I am being a bully by asking for proof? Your reaction to my request makes me believe that you probably do not have a prototype and probably only have a software simulation. Please prove me wrong. Best, gigavps C'mon James enough with the show already man you know damn well you are only doing this because of the past we have He hates me and I hate him, we have never gotten along If this were someone else you would not be doing this. You have my official statement on the matter, and its not going to change. You posted your question and I gave you a response, if you continue to harass me I will report this to the staff thank you.

Please clarify the prices on your site yes this is the final price, sorry

James:
Why not tell them the real reason your doing this? You hate me and I hate you. Be honest about it man,
You and I have never gotten along and this is the reason you are trying to cause a problem for me.

Please Read:
We are selling pre-orders on a production unit that only exists in prototype form, if you do not feel comfortable with this in any way please do not order from us until the production units are ready.

When will you have the details about the modminer upgrade program? I'm sure I am not the only one who recently purchased a Modminer (and am still waiting for it) and would like to make a decision regarding waiting or taking delivery asap.
Sorry I was not more clear on this, if you have ordered up until 09/01 your modminer quad will be shipped on the next production run which I will have by the end of this week. If you have not received the unit yet - you can swap your MMQ order for a bASIC order directly. If you already have a MMQ and wish to trade it in closer to the ship date we can do that as well, I am thinking of issuing a rebate - but I still have not nailed down how much I can afford to give on a trade-in just yet. I am looking into ways to sell refurbished fpga chips at the moment and will get back to you on that.

wow that must of been hard to find considering I am only running 5 dedicated Bitcointalk forum advertising slots which links to that same page! How on earth did you find it? Hi Tom, Thanks for you sarcasm. As for your ad link, it goes to http://www.bitcoinasic.com/ and this page does not redirect to btcfpga.com You're welcome for the technical help. Best, gigavps yes it does, obviously you have been watching my 24 hour countdown and need to refresh your cache the redirect has been working since about 2pm EST for help refreshing your cache I would check youtube for an instructional video btw: your welcome for my technical help

The truth is it just takes time to have these kind of chips made, and then you still have to have the boards assembled. its a lengthy process. I am just happy we finally have a prototype that works that we can move forward with this is something that has been in the works for awhile.
I guess if you have a prototype working you wouldn't mind throwing a quick video up showing it running on a pool. I will when BFL does the same.

I just wish some hardware would already arrive, with all these bloody preorders >_<

its from cheech and chong sorry you must be too young for that or much less obsessed. lol not obsessed at all if you grew up in the 70's or 80's you would know what I was talking about stupid joke anyways - I just like to troll silk road threads as a habit they really don't belong here anyways, Bitcointalk has tried very hard to distance itself from SR and for good reason The less associated Bitcoin is with SR the better.

@cablepair: - do you have an expected power figure ?
- Will the hardware be p2pool-friendly ?
the prototype board we are testing on is only for development purposes and is not going to be an accurate representation of the power usage of the production device, I can tell you that it will be very energy efficient and certainly more efficient than the ModMiner Quad. I can also tell you that the 27Gh/s we are currently quoting is the minimum to be expected, it is likely to increase with software optimizations. about p2pool, our software developer (Luke-JR) has not even begun to work on the mining software yet but I will make sure we make this a priority to allow for p2pool compatibility. Do you already have asic samples in your hand or are you estimating hash output as well? If you are estimating what is this based on? 27Gh/s is not an estimate its based on real testing of a real prototype and again we are using very basic software at this point, the speed is likely to increase once my software guys get to work on the firmware and mining software

Is the ASIC an FPGA hardcopy ?
there are certain details that I am not going to release just yet, at least until we are done prototyping. All the specific details you could want (and more) will be available in the near future, and don't worry this is going to be an open source project just like the ModMiner Quad, I just need a little more time before we really commit everything to public record.
