Kraken getting sued.
CZ steps down, pleads guilty.
Funds safu, I hope...

Bitcoin is down a couple of hundred correction is coming the ASHWSB said to keep buying more and more Just buy more and more guys and keep the hodl. All time high is on the way.

Everyone's an expert when it's going up.  I get it - hopium - but that guy doesn't have any more of a clue than any other Bitcoinist(a) and he might have even less of a clue pushing shitcoins as he does!  He's still in the red from late 2021 (specifically Nov. 29th 2021) when he was predicting 100K BTC by year end... I guess he technically didn't say which year end but hopefully nobody was holding their breath.  FFS, my own mother was begging me to help her to buy some bitcoin at that time and I said, "No! Don't be silly." and I had to explain FOMO to her for the second time - first time being the Dec. 2017 mooning.  I remember trying to get her and dad to just by a couple when they were ~$100 each to no avail.  My dad was like, "...but what is it?!", "...can I hold on in my hand?!", "if you can't f*ck it or eat it; piss on it!"  or something like that.

nice looking too.  they are a great commercial. I didn't know Australia was that fucked up.

Considering Australia began modern-day life as a penal colony for wayward Irish folks (mostly thieves) they're not doing too badly; it could have gone Mad Max Smiley

yeah i spent two weeks there back in 1980 Sydney was very nice.

Despite all odds that are said about Australia, its true that they have grown up nicely. Except the fact that Decembers are hot and June is Cold there.

yeah but if you live in New Jersey you can go there Nov 1 and stay til April 1 thus never having to deal with the cold and dark of winter.

It was dark by 5pm last night  (NJ)  which sucks.

Don't forget to supplement with vitamin D

ECB’s Christine Lagarde Says Her Son Lost Big Time In Crypto

The anti-crypto President successfully turned her son against digital assets after he lost 60% of his crypto investment.

Christine Lagarde – president of the European Central Bank (ECB) said her son lost “almost all” of his investment in crypto despite her repeated warnings not to touch the asset class.

Due to the losses, she claims her son has now “reluctantly accepted” that she was right.

The Lagarde Family’s Crypto Investments

Lagarde discussed her son’s poor crypto journey at a town hall with students in Frankfurt on Friday.

Quote
“He ignored me royally, which is his privilege,” she said, according to Reuters. “And he lost almost all the money that he had invested.”

The president has long railed against cryptocurrencies, insisting that Bitcoin is not money, but rather a “highly speculative asset” that is popular among criminals for money laundering.

While open to letting investors buy what they like, she advocates for strong regulations encouraging consumer protection in crypto while mitigating its use in terrorist financing. When it comes to central banks possibly owning Bitcoin, she’s called it “out of the question.”

Yet in May 2022, Lagarde revealed that one of her two sons was diversified into crypto, while still maintaining that crypto assets were “worth nothing” and “based on nothing.” Bitcoin traded for $29,100 at the time, shortly following the collapse of algorithmic stablecoin protocol Terra which tanked crypto markets across the board.

The president has two sons, both of whom are in their mid-30s, though she didn’t reveal which one was the crypto investor.

Quote
“It wasn’t a lot but he lost it all, he lost about 60% of it,” she said. “So when I then had another talk with him about it, he reluctantly accepted that I was right.”

Sounds like a self-fulfilling prophecy or a made up story.  I wonder what she told him to invest in 2022 instead... Shopify? lol
 Hey, Christine Lagarde's son!  Look!

 It's never too late Smiley

Thanksgiving day $16k #Bitcoin in 2022 vs $37k Bitcoin in 2023 https://t.co/jNquwux9yl

Thats more than 200% rise!!

Hoping to see btc go 70k + in 2024!!

Not hugely invested in btc right now but i think if it hits the 40k mark this year thats a good entry point for me

So, ah...  200% rise starting at $16k on any other day would give you $48k but I get it, you're full of turkey and stuffing so it's Thanksgiving math.  Amen.

SAFU ≠ safe

SAFU - Secure Asset Fund for Users (an "emergency" fund)

It's a mix of Bitcoin, Binance tokens, some USD Tether and some TrueUSD tokens

Current value is ~$1billion (60% of which is denominated in Bitcoin)

Supposedly created in 2018 though (from what I see) the bulk of the transfers seemed to have happened about a year ago.

I'm going to wish an early Happy Thanksgiving to all you American, Wall Observer types.  I was going to save it for Thursday but then I figured it might serve as an instructional video; at least you'll know what not to do with the turkey.  Have fun and stay safe!

Binance in Talks to Pay More Than $4B to End U.S. Criminal Case; CZ Could Still Face Charges: Bloomberg

A resolution could come as soon as the end of this month, Bloomberg reports.

By Aoyon Ashraf, Jesse Hamilton

Binance Holding Ltd. would be asked to pay $4 billion to settle U.S. Department of Justice accusations of multiple criminal violations, according to a report from Bloomberg News on negotiations between the DOJ and the company, which are also leaving open the possibility that its founder Changpeng "CZ" Zhao would also face U.S. criminal charges.
Binance has been under a lengthy investigation by U.S. authorities for money laundering, bank fraud and violating U.S. sanctions laws, and the talks could reportedly conclude in the coming weeks.
A spokesperson with the DOJ declined to comment to CoinDesk. Binance didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.
Binance and CZ have faced investigations and accusations on multiple fronts in the U.S., including related enforcement actions earlier this year from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. If the company agrees to be fined by the U.S. for more than $4 billion, that would represent one of the largest settlements in crypto history, but it's uncertain what other conditions or business requirements may come along with that penalty, according to Bloomberg.
Were U.S. authorities to charge CZ, a resident of the United Arab Emirates, with crimes, he would have to be extradited from a country with a U.S. extradition treaty or set foot in U.S. territory in order to face those charges.

Hahahahaha.. "Little weasel".. that is a good one for Homer.  I can imagine that Canada has a good number of weasels.  Can you imagine a weasel eating his daily McMuffin and trying to sip at the overly hot coffee... So cccccuuuuuttttttteee!!!!!  #nohomophobo

OMG!  That's literally what everyone, except Antisthenes' mom, calls me!

In other news, I'm having two per day at these prices but I give one of the coffees to a homeless guy who solicits alms every day at the traffic light standard near the entrance to McD's.  Actually, he isn't calling me "Little weasel" either but I imagine once the breakfast deal is over and I pass by without giving him a coffee, it wont take long for him to start.

What's the difference?  mid-December or so, prior to the Christmas Holidays or prior to January 10 and after New Year's..   There seems to be a bit of a crunch in time between new year's and January 10.. but getting it out of the way prior to various holidays might allow for some resolution of the matter.. ..

but then I suppose if they were to wait until after the holidays, then they don't have the holidays getting in the way... but I don't see much of any difference.. unless there is a bit of desire to continue to delay a wee bit.. to make sure that they are not missing anything and prepared once the ETFs go on line.. which could be a bit of a "nothing burger" even though I am anticipating that probably we would end up getting more pump rather than a dump, once they do actually go live.. a pump just seems more likely .. but who knows?

I don't know the US tax code (and from what I understand, nobody does) but up north, capital gains taxes are paid in the year they are realized.  There could be advantages to waiting until the new year.

The Bitcoin monthly and weekly charts are still looking incredibly bullish. I just see higher and higher lows. Someone is snatching up all the BTC… I think we gap back up to test $38K in the next couple of days. Must resist the urge to take profits…

Maybe I should cash it all and be done.
