piuk,

Found very minor bug at http://blockchain.info/api/json_rpc_api

Under the wrapper libraries the second Ruby link should actually be labeled PHP

445  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blockchain.info wallet on iOS - install it now! on: October 09, 2012, 04:20:13 PM
Just want to say that the blockchain.info services kick ass. Definitely the best bitcoin related services out there (imho).

Yep, blockchain.info is hands down THE most secure and functional online wallet. I trust my coins with it entirely.
Agreed.  Infact I just switched back as my main storage as it is the easiest option with the greatest security for my needs.

thank you for answering.

I think your bets are bringing legitimacy to the market and I am glad for them.

Have you tried the setting as described in the mountain lion link a couple of posts up ? That would decide it one way or the other.

Setting GateKeeper to ANYWHERE does indeed solve the problem.  This means that despite Apple's own words:

Control+Clicking to allow the package is not the equivalent to saying 'let it run, no matter what'

Doing some further research (as I don't really want to turn off gatekeeper) it turns out that it has to do with the quarantine flag as described here: http://apple.stackexchange.com/a/58089/30611

I first tried lowering the setting and running MultiBit, then moving it back (damaged error).
Removing the quarantine flag (xattr -d com.apple.quarantine /Applications/MultiBit.app) fixed the broken error.

You might want to document this on the gatekeeper page Jim as I was under the belief that Ctrl+Clicking would do the same thing.

I was talking to someone who know about the laws around here (not US) and guess what: Setting up a bazaar (market) to trade some virtual  tokens (BTC is not a currency) is completely OK until legal currency is kept out of the equation.
You say BTC has value in fiat? So do all the stupid game cards that kids collect and trade in some countries. They do not call their collections Co's and themselves CEO and are not selling you a "share of ownership or debt (big bad words) in a INC, LLE, LTD etc".

American based SEC has NOTHING to do with BTC. BTC is not a security. Only reason they can get upset is if  you keep calling your imaginary "what ever" a real company an keep telling to people,  how you are running a business blaa blaa blaa, dividends, IPO etc.  Then it can be considered as a scam and they (SEC, IRS, FSA, police etc) will get curious.

If you sell tokens for a imaginary team that operates under guidelines X and rewards it's members in those same game tokens (btc) no one cares wtf you do. Start using big words and you are in deep shit. As simple as that.

So. Nefario. Use some SQL magic, rename those moronic contracts to what they really are and open up your token bazaar.
You are running a online shop for trading game tokens to "teams" of imaginary teams of miners and cosmonauts.

IANAL; however I am pretty sure that won't work and will add on racketeering charges as well.

Often in US law/cases it is the intent that plays a deciding role. AIOTS (Any Idiot Off The Street) would agree that Jimmy was not attempting to operate an illegal exchange.  However would that Same Idiot agree about nefario?  Or would it be painfully obvious that he (nefario) was attempting to game the system and run an illegal exchange?

Also you will not attract 'real' investors or 'real' companies by doing that.  I would like to label this idea the SCAM MULTIPLIER.
449  Other / MultiBit / Re: MultiBit on: October 09, 2012, 12:59:55 PM
The "damaged and can't be opened" error is from Gatekeeper. MacOS is crying because Jim isn't signing the app. He needs to get a Mac developer ID and sign MultiBit with that to make the error go away. Alternatively, disable Gatekeeper and the issue should also resolve itself.
I dont think it is gatekeeper, as you get a different error for that.

450  Economy / Gambling / Re: [BITLOTTO] Oct draw over! Next draw Nov 2! on: October 09, 2012, 12:40:33 PM
20 BTC sent, jackpot for Nov including pools is 22.5 BTC atm > $270 Smiley
I have to ask, and you can ignore me or tell me it isn't my business.  But how do you afford to gamble so much?

452  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum - Bitcoin client for the common users (friendly and instant) on: October 08, 2012, 08:31:01 PM
Any chance someone could take a look this pull request https://github.com/spesmilo/electrum-server/pull/5

I would like to add an electrum fallback to blockchain.info but cannot currently due to CORS.
This would be fantastic
453  Other / MultiBit / Re: MultiBit on: October 08, 2012, 08:22:08 PM
Is anyone else getting a damaged Warning under OSX?

I just downloaded 0.4.11; however it happened with 0.4.10 also and never got back around to troubleshooting it (until today, so I just downloaded the newest ver).
454  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] NASTY - No Operator Costs, Free Electricity, Free ASIC Upgrade! on: October 08, 2012, 12:42:36 PM
Really hope we have a new way to trade shares and receive dividends before the first ASICs arrive.

You will.

Are you located in the US?  I am just wondering about the possibility of the SEC coming to get you for trading an unregistered security?

That would be most sad as this is the one bitcoin investment that has promise.
455  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Countdown til October 12th on: October 08, 2012, 12:40:28 PM
I hope something happens for everyone who has a large portion in pirate.

457  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] NASTY - No Operator Costs, Free Electricity, Free ASIC Upgrade! on: October 06, 2012, 03:19:22 AM
I find it very concerning, as I am sure most people do, that he would request 'identifying info' to payback.  Why couldn't he just put up the website and allow us to claim our vouchers?
458  Economy / Securities / Re: GLBSE is offline We will update our users on Saturday. on: October 06, 2012, 12:01:56 AM
When a thread like this gets to be 14 pages long (or more), does anyone actually read EVERY post or do people just read the last few and feel the need to chime in?

Not on here they don't.  A few hundred posts is apparently too many to read to become informed.  Given the relatively short life-span of most things Bitcoin, I guess there's no need to develop a long attention span.
The problem is that out of a couple hundred about 75% of them are crap.
459  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Got off the phone with the Guy from the S.E.C on: October 04, 2012, 02:10:53 PM
Theres a few things I would like glbse to do.

Get a  domain name without ICE jurisdiction to take down.
Move the servers to a country with less stringent securities law.
Register as an offshore company somewhere like Belize.
Retain an anonymous operator similar to silk road.

This would greatly reduce the chance the site will disappear overnight but Nefario might need to build a brand new site to create a regulated bitcoin stock exchange. Dont think you can with the existing site without delisting all securities.
All of this would also increase the chance of the site operator running off with all funds.
460  Economy / Services / Re: [ANNOUNCE] TORwallet - anonymous mixing wallet service on: September 19, 2012, 07:32:29 PM
Assuming it was not a scam:  anyone consider that they got picked up by the FBI?  Wouldn't they be really interested on the clientele of a TOR based mixing service?
