461  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: iPhone IOS Bitcoin wallet is here! (From Blockchain.info) on: September 19, 2012, 07:30:51 PM
I have a problem with this wallet too. It worked fine for a few days but now it doesn't show my balance or addresses. Everything seems fine in the settings tab though. The logout icon is red.

I have tried everything. Reinstall, reinstall again, logout, forget and repair.. but can't get it to work :/

My iPhone is 3GS, 5.1.1
Odd... mine seems to be fine... although I have a JB 4S

Another feature request (as if you didn't have enough to do right?)  Add Boxcar (http://boxcar.io) as a notification option?

It is free and it rocks.  I use it on several of my projects and love it.

The app has a lot of one star reviews which puts me off a but. I think rather than using a 3rd party for push notifications it would be better to support push notifications within the iphone app itself.
I understand that initial reaction; however I have several points for you to consider:

1. The reason the app has so many low ratings are because people download it not understanding what it is.
2. I have two wallets making the 'integrate into iPhone app' route improbable.

The service is actually pretty good, and I encourage you to at least take a deeper look.  It took me about 15 mins to integrate it the first time I did.  Start here http://boxcar.io/help/api/providers

I have an Iphone 4 and I have unlocked it and put it on a walmart 50 bucks a month plan. My gf lives about 30 minutes away with her dying elderly mother. Like I said I am well aware that I am making excuses. I could put more effort into walking around and filling out apps. I could even give them my moms number and have her take messages for me. However I just can't. I know that probably does not make a whole lot of sense to you but I need to see a psychiatrist. I have been self medicating for years and I am sick of it. My back ground is very complicated and is not something I would like to get into great details about on a open forum =/ Never the less things will get better or I will die. At this point I do not really care which happens first.

Not to be a dick but two questions I honestly thought:  how can you afford a computer + interwebz and an iphone if you are in such dire straights?

"Those looking to file a suit against me or BTCST will not be eligible for repayment."

So is is stalling and trying to stop legal action. oh lulz...

Source of that quote?

EDIT:  The post above, sorry.
465  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are Bitcoins Martial Law Proof? on: September 17, 2012, 02:05:30 PM
What if rarity and notme are both right?

What if the USA and China were allies in a global war?  Feeding off of each other, using their best strengths?  Could any other county hope to even stand against that?

It seems plausible, bearing in mind the USA have been handing over its manufacturing and technical knowledge to China for decades. I find it hard to believe that this would be just a free market accident. However, China and Russia seem ideologically more closely aligned with their Communist-flavoured authoritarianism.

Also, I'm extremely concerned about China stepping up its rhetoric against Japan (regarding small disputed islands or something like that). I suspect that this is an excuse to deploy strategic defenses against the US' recent moves. Japan could even be in on the act.
<tinfoilhat>
Well... one could argue that they will build an east/west sort of thing.  That would actually be a very useful tool for the US to use.... "you need us... look at what happens over there!"  while China is left to it's own devises and continues to be the industrial backbone of the new world.

Provide this "proof" I will try to make something of it.  If they are moving the coins to another address and storing them the same way we should soon see an address pop up in the top 10 richest addresses.  I feel that whoever's address it was didn't like getting so much attention and they split it up among many different addresses.
Not necessarily, if they've learned a lesson, they may be using multiple smaller addresses.
Obviously you didn't bother reading the rest of my post that you quoted.  Roll Eyes
Quite right.   Damn I feel like a jackass.
468  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [ANNOUNCE] Abe 0.6: Open Source Block Explorer Knockoff on: September 15, 2012, 01:22:10 AM
I see that Abe is still under development, when can we expect 0.7?
At the moment the holdup is writing a change log.  Then I'll try to find all the pieces I need to build the Windows installer and update pypi.  Anything particular you need?

As a matter of fact there are a few things. Currently ABE doesn't gracefully handle Ctr+C and so I have to execute the queries you gave a couple of pages back AND reset the blkoffset number to either 0 or a value which I've stored for emergencies.
And though it happened a long time ago, I had a very nasty problem where the bitcoin days destroyed value was 0 every few transactions/blocks and since I could not arbitrarily delete any blocks manually I was forced to reimport the blockchain all over again and this usually takes 2 weeks for me.

And not sure if there was a workaround, but while Abe is importing blocks, the webserver is off and there is no way for me to view the chain imported thus far.

I have a query that will give you import status.  PM me if you want it.

Its a shame that an ignored user will make your 'last updated' link light up.  IMO, those posts should be ignored when considering if you're caught up with a thread.
+1

I guess that is coming in the new software: Soon(tm)

Payb.tc, I for one, wouldn't mind throwing a few BTC your way to put something together where only the people who elect to give Pirate their information gets passed on.  It would have to be contingent on a few things though.  If Pirate paid only those accounts, only those accounts would be paid out and the people that chose to not give information would have to wait until further action is taken and their BTC are refunded.  There would also need other people to throw BTC in.

The other thing we could do is put together a list and have you sign off on it as accurate and we can forward it on to Pirate.  I know this was done before but I'm not sure it was ever verified by you before it was forwarded.

Also, given the fact that BitcoinMax's userbase is so large, I would imagine if everyone threw in a little there would surely be enough to get a lawyer involved and pay for payb.tc's time.

I can state with 100% acuracy that it was not signed off by payb.tc.

I highly doubt it would help but if paybtc wants access to the list I will give it to him, as stated in my orig thread.

I obliged by adding the MD5 hash it's looking for, just as static text to the page when served to the offending IP, so now they will probably get thousands of false positives.
This has so much win it isn't even funny.

476  Economy / Collectibles / Re: How would you like to design a bitcoin banknote? on: September 12, 2012, 03:20:51 PM
Practically speaking, even if the QR code is demolished beyond cooperation with a reader, if you can still read the human-readable private key with your own eyes, you're going to be able to recover the coins.
However the argument could be made that if the QR code is that damaged then the human readable key may be as well.

However these are not intended for long term carry around storage.

That being said I have been carrying some around in my wallet since early on... I will pull them and see how damaged they are.
477  Economy / Marketplace / Re: $1,000 bounty for Blockchain.COM (not .info) (Updated to $1,500) on: September 11, 2012, 10:35:39 PM
It should be trivially easy to prove that you own a domain, so if someone refuses to do so I would consider them a scammer.
Also not wanting to use escrow... I can't think of a single (valid) reason to not use escrow.

Just got mine today. Friends and family are slightly agog that there's a physical object that can be attached to the "computer money" (as one of the kids call bitcoins). Mike is an asset to this community.
