many people often say "It's safer to be Muslim in a Christian country than be Christian in a Muslim country".

People say a lot of things... most of them are not true

I've heard about more Muslims being assaulted/murdered in America than Christians being murdered in all of the middle east... and this is coming from American news, which I assume would be biased towards Christians

Muslims don't go out attacking Christians... this is a common misconception that Christians have...

Muslims are murdering other Muslims... imagine if the Catholics and Protestants were at war with each other... would either of them care about Muslims, or would they care more about the other Christians who are trying to kill them?

Do Bloods and Crips care about Muslims, or do they care about other Bloods and Crips killing them?

The problem with Christians is they have a victim complex, and want to feel like they are being attacked, so they can go on the offensive and preemptively nuke another country
Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Lybia, Pakistan, Somalia, Yemen... to name a few countries that America has recently attacked without justification... and don't forget to be afraid of Iran, North Korea and Russia too... but Saudi Arabia is our ally (actually Saudi Arabia has sponsored 80%+ of the terrorist attacks on US soil including 9/11... and we just sold them over $500 BILLION worth of weapons)

I am a Filipino and I have some relatives living there. Since high school i have heard of rumors that America has a lot of secrets. I even read an article that says America will lead the 666, it said that the CIA manipulated some countries to make their dollar stable and strong, so on and so forth. I don't know if this is all true, what do you think?

The CIA, lol... where to begin... yes, its true, and much much much much much more

The CIA is the single most dangerous organization on the planet... by far the biggest threat to world peace

The CIA is directly responsible for misinformation about weapons of mass destruction which lead to the Iraq war (and presumably other wars)
The CIA is directly responsible for ISIS, Al Qaeda, and all the radicalized Muslim groups... the CIA are the ones who radicalized them in the first place! (to fight the godless communists)
The CIA is directly responsible for destroying the economies of multiple countries around the globe, causing hyperinflation, etc
The CIA is directly responsible for overthrowing the democratically elected leader of Iran (August 1953), and many other countries
The CIA is directly responsible for trafficking drugs around the globe (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allegations_of_CIA_drug_trafficking)
503  Other / Off-topic / Re: Should I Go To College ??? on: July 07, 2017, 07:19:47 PM
Hi everyone,

What advice would you give a HS senior in US about to decide on and/or enter college ?

yes you should go to college. There are more opportunities when you are a degree holder.

Yeah i know that but Americans gaining a loan in college is big problem Sad Sad

I'm not lucky

I would advise against taking student loans given the current situation... if that means you don't go to college so be it... employers are more impressed with a good interview than a piece of paper anyway (personal experience)

Betsy Devos just erased 2 HUGE rules that Obama administration put in place to protect students

One of the things she removed was student loan forgiveness... There "was" a law stating if a person spent 10 years in a public service job, like a teacher, and paid their loans the entire 10 years... the rest would be forgiven (not much left after 10 years paying anyway)... but this is now gone... some people already spent the whole 10 years as a teacher and now get fucked

And, she's only been there for 2 months... more pro-bank anti-student legislation is coming

Do NOT get student loans... trust me on this, I have student loans from 10+ years ago... and they have been charging me more than twice the interest rate I agreed to... the government does not give a single fuck about you... do not trust them... they will change the rules AFTER you take the loans... and buttfuck you because there is NO WAY to get rid of student loan debt

If you want a good job, and save yourself 4 years of school... find a place you want to work, find a manager, talk to him/her... act like you REALLY want to work HERE... make them think this is your dream job... ask them what training you would need to prepare... spend a few months taking free online courses, then go back and get your job

Priests are famous for shoving both penis and religion down children's throats (hence the double entendre, making the meme funny)

Not really funny... the numbers make me sick!
.....

But only because you KNOW the numbers.

By contrast, anyone suggesting impropriety by clerics in a Muslim nation would be quickly shut up.

Or like the writer Salmon Rushbie, who did just that, he'd get a worldwide Fatwa, a death sentence.

Why assume Muslims are child molesters simply because catholics are?

You realize the catholic priests molesting children is directly caused by their prohibition against priests being married... right?

Do Muslim imams have a prohibition against marriage?  No... hence, false equivalence

Atheism to Defeat Religion By 2038
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/nigel-barber/atheism-to-defeat-religion-by-2038_b_1565108.html

In other news...
The numbers are disturbing but not surprising.

In the past several decades, we’ve seen the rise of militant secularism in America. This belief system says that if you are a Christian who believes in the authority of Scripture and in absolute morals, you are intolerant, and your beliefs are not acceptable in society. We’ve seen this secularism take hold in our schools, our entertainment, our culture, our politics and even our churches. And one of the results has been a steep increase in the number of young people who reject God.

I always find it funny to read about the rise of atheism from the perspective of a christian... "militant secularism" lol... rofl... militant?!? LMFAO

"We've seen this secularism take hold in our schools..."  Seriously?  You realize America was founded as a SECULAR nation... right?  Separation of church and state ring any bells?

"Tragically, many churches have neglected their call to uphold biblical truth in the face of secularist aggression, instead diluting their messages in response to cultural pressures."... Oh... so tragic... christians aren't allowed to own slaves or kill gays anymore... boo fucking hoo... cry me a goddamned river about how your religion is being repressed
508  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why do people pray? on: July 07, 2017, 08:45:58 AM
1) Prayer is selfish
2) You couldn't change a god's divine plan no matter how hard you pray (can you pray harder?)
3) Telepathic gods don't exist
6) Stop bothering/annoying the non-existent gods with your selfish prayers

Instead of praying, and asking god to fix your problems... spend that time fixing your own damn problems

Okay if you do not have one, that's your business.
Okay if you're proud of it, that's your business.
But please do not have to spread hatred.
We take care of ourselves. And do good to everyone.

LOL

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Settlements_and_bankruptcies_in_Catholic_sex_abuse_cases

Quote
Settlements and bankruptcies in Catholic sex abuse cases have affected several American dioceses, whose compensation payments have totaled in the billions of dollars.

You heard that right... the catholic church spent BILLIONS of dollars defending over 1800 child molesting priests (1994-2009)
That's so disgusting...
People/sponsors boycotted Bill O'Reilly for spending only(?) $13 million defending sexual assault claims
I don't understand how anyone could be catholic anymore

Religion is the root of all evil . You can fight me on this but you know that it's true?

And Humanity is all we have. The only thing we know for sure is that this planet, the only planet known to sustain human life, is inhabited by the only humans known to exist in this universe. There is proof that humans exist, there is proof that science has merit. Investing and growing our species is the only chance we have for survival-- and it starts with the only thing we truly know how to do: be human.

Then use this deep knowledge and learn how to behave like a decent human being. Six billion people around the world are religious. As the religous are far more productive at starting families and raising children, that number is according to United Nations going to rise to nine billion by the end of the century. Meanwhile the number of atheists like you will at best level off.

Want to make world better place? Learn how to deal with people whose children will inherit it without insulting them. Dont be so bigoted.

Your argument is flawed

Atheists are objectively smarter than religious people (feel free to argue, but google it first)

If there was a population problem, atheists would have more children... that's not fucking rocket science dude

The issue is not the number of children, but the quality of life... secular countries/people have a higher quality of life and happiness index than religious countries/people (google it)... secular children are smarter than religious children (google it)

513  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Evolution is a hoax on: July 05, 2017, 04:52:07 PM
Also the bible itself is testable. It is supposed to be the word of god but has so many mistakes and contradictions that it debunks itself. Creationism does not have any more evidence than the bible. Which they never proved to be accurate or relevant in the first place. It's fine that people want to question evolution but don't bring creationism into it.
If you are talking about the book of Genesis then you could have a view about the existence but scientist cannot completely prove that how the world came into existence and how humans came other than just evolution which i do not believe it to be the truth, evolution can happen but that does not mean that my first ancestors are apes. Cheesy

Actually science has a pretty clear understanding on how the planets are formed. The bible doesn't prove anything, it just states things, there is no explanation for any of it. Apes and humans share a common ancestor, it doesn't matter whether you believe it or not. It's not a matter of belief. Go study and you will understand.

Actually, science doesn't have a clue as to how planets are formed. They have a lot of theoretical guesses. And they have patterned their guesses into a standard format. But they don't really know at all.

The Bible isn't meant top prove these things. The bible is simply eye-witness record. It is written at God's direction in ways that average people can understand. It is way more accurate than scientific guesses.

The choice is yours. And it is really a choice of what you are going to believe. Eiterh believe the scientists and their guesses. Or believe the eye-witness accounts of people who were there, or received the message from God.

Cool

Of course badecker. You think all science is wrong and that we don't know anything. Instead you think eye-witness which isn't even eye-witness, it's just a book is far more accurate than everything scientists study. There is the biggest problem with your thinking. You clearly cannot critically think.

Even worse, he thinks the bible has science in it... lol

Modern science wasn't invented until 1500 years after the bible was written... the bible has zero science in it... it's just a collection of myths and fables (many of which are provably false)

The sad thing is... if all known facts and evidence supporting Evolution was written down in a single book... it would be much bigger than the bible, yet full of nothing but facts and evidence proving Evolution

The guy will claim it's all wrong, without providing a single counterexample or a single shred of evidence to support his claim that "Evolution is a hoax"
514  Other / Politics & Society / Re: When will Religions die? on: July 05, 2017, 04:42:41 PM
Religions are already dying. Among young people, most of the atheists who do not plan to support the religious process and will not force their children to believe in religion.

False.

blah, blah, China(Huh), blah

Wrong!

Here's an example of religion dying on the vine:

http://www.patheos.com/blogs/friendlyatheist/2017/07/05/iowa-bible-reading-marathon-cancelled-due-to-lack-of-interest/

The 2 women in the photo appear to be the ONLY volunteers from all of Iowa!  Only 2 Christians bothered to help out! ROFL

Last year, the Iowa 99 County Bible Reading Marathon was endorsed by Governor Terry Branstad, who bizarrely encouraged all Iowans to “read through the Bible on a daily basis each year until the Lord comes.” (It was a controversial proclamation.)

This year, they couldn’t even find participants.

The reading was started June 26, and the plan was to continue until volunteers finished the Bible — probably sometime on Sunday or Monday — but instead the marathon was cut short, [Kellie] Evens said. There simply weren’t enough volunteers, and her co-captain couldn’t work the long hours needed for the two of them to do it alone.

When you can’t find enough Christians in Iowa to take part in a Bible-promoting publicity stunt, you know the religious demographics are shifting…

When you can't find enough Christians... from 99 counties in Iowa... to participate in a bible reading marathon... you have lost

Creationism is testable...
You can test whether the universe is older than 6,000 years... turns out, it is
You can test whether god could create light before creating the sun and stars... or creating plants before the sun (bad idea; god didn't really think this creation plan through)
We have artifacts from civilizations older than 6,000 years!
We have artifacts from Egypt dating across the entire period where a "global flood" is claimed to have killed everyone (i.e. the flood didn't happen either)
We have fossils that are millions of years old!
You can test many aspects of the creation hypothesis, and it fails every test

I disagree that creationism is testable, though I do agree with everything else you say. Perhaps it is splitting hairs but since we are trying to be precise in our language I would argue that yes the *arguments* that creationists often use some are testable but the actual one and only hypothesis of creationism, that God created everything, is absolutely untestable. We can debunk every strawman or logical fallacy that creationists throw up but they will just move the bar, because it's not reasoned discovery of the truth that they are interested in, it's confirmation of already held beliefs only. Their arguments are shields, not real scientific discourse. That's the point, creationism is in no way shape or form science.

Really picking at hairs here... everyone knows you can't prove a negative, right?

I was simply pointing out that creationism, as described in the bible... is testable... it definitely did not happen the way the bible claims it happened... same goes for any religious text...
Every creation story has testable elements, and every creation story is invariably flawed

Creationism (from any religion) would not even rank as a Scientific Theory as Evolution does... Creationism would not even rank as a hypothesis... creationism is pure fail city
516  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Evolution is a hoax on: July 03, 2017, 07:52:27 PM
Human evolution is a theory there's no proof that we really came from monkeys. either our source of water, how water came up in our planet
if the planet was made base on big bang theory explaining.

Words and phrases must have precise operational definitions. All hypotheses must be testable. Evolution is testable. Creationism is not. If you have a "theory" as you say (what you really mean is "hypothesis" NOT "scientific theory") then it must be testable by others independently.

Creationism is testable...

A Record 58% of People in Scotland Have No Religious Affiliation

Scotland has reached a new high when it comes to the percentage of the population with no religious faith.

Just last year, the number was at 52%. But a new survey released by ScotCen Social Research finds that the “Nones” now make up a whopping 58% of the country.

Quote
The new findings from Scotland’s most authoritative survey of public attitudes show that nearly six in ten (58%) now say that they have no religion, up 18 points on 1999 when the figure stood at four in ten (40%).

Young people are least likely to be religious; three quarters of young people (74% of 18-34s) say they have no religion compared with 34% of those over 65.

    …

Most of the decline in religious affiliation over this 17 year period has been felt by the Church of Scotland. Around half as many people (18%) now say they belong to the Church of Scotland as did in 1999 (35%).

The proportion of Roman Catholics (10%), other Christian affiliations (11%) and non-Christian religious people (2%) in the Scottish population has remained relatively stable over the same period.

If you're straight, you're straight. If you're gay, you're gay. And so on.

As for what you said about this being some men's fetish, well some do get a kick out off ( Wink) being abused. That don't automatically mean they'll become trans as in tranny (sorry to those who got triggered Tongue). There is such a thing as role-play, you know. I've heard about women strapping fake penises (some actually inserted into the vagina) and using that to plow their men.

Before we say these videos are turning men (both gay and straight) into actual trans, maybe we should find out how many of those who watch those actually do become trans.

I concur

This quote from the OP pretty much says it all, "and I found I kind of liked it"

If you find you like gay porn... chances are, you're already gay!

I'm straight... I don't like gay porn... I've seen it, don't like it... that's how I know I'm not gay... (not that there is anything wrong with being gay)
520  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Are you in favor of same sex marriage? on: July 02, 2017, 05:16:42 PM
Who really cares, let them marry if they want it wont change my day.
It's only bullshit religious groups that's stopping them because some imaginary god has told them it's wrong.

Dont you find it interesting, that ALL religions abhor upon the idea of two men starting famly together? Perhaps you are the one running wild with your imaginations, since those religions obviously reflect laws of nature far better, than your little ape brain does.

Marriage is legally binding process for the purpose of starting family, not assurance of mutual masturbation for the years to come.

If the only purpose of marriage is starting a family... then you must believe people who are sterile shouldn't be allowed to marry anyone?

If a man or woman can't have children... they shouldn't be allowed to get married?

When/where has there ever been a fertility test before getting married?

Marriage is not about children, it's about love... it's about wanting to spend the rest of your life with that person... children or no children... for better or worse... til death do you part
