5081  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Instawallet claim process on: December 06, 2013, 06:58:31 AM
I'm probably still on ignore.

I don't use the ignore list. I can ignore you without it just fine.

Either way, if you submitted proper claims (which means visiting your wallet URL and providing a payout address during the claims period), you have exactly one option: e-mail me their IDs, with the corresponding wallet URLs.

Well, for starters, I realized I'm not on your actual ignore list, oppose to Boussac who's on record in starting that I am.

I filled out the forms that was provided on the first day the claim process was available for all three wallets. I have no idea as to what ID you're speaking of, for I never had one emailed to me for any of the wallets.

I do have all three URLs, with only one now showing a corresponding address: https://www.instawallet.org/w/sMceOus2wYrDVAHxA5BssBwB7kgDqC9r4Q

For the one above, there are two other claims against that wallet, neither of which is mine. There are two claim #s, and perhaps that's what you mean by ID. I'm not sure.

The other two URLs are: https://www.instawallet.org/w/rL2DhMWW9tDvs24oFwtiq99zhh7A3ii6bg and https://www.instawallet.org/w/gZh1afVVl5aAtjNwXo0BiYChTxjwln33ab

These two claims look nothing like the one I shown above:

Your wallet maybe missing because it received funds only after April 1st when Instawallet was suspended.

If that is the case, please use the comment field to tell us the transaction that you would to be taken into account for a refund.

Please do not report a missing wallet if it did not receive any transaction.

Report a missing wallet

Email

An email address is required for us to notify you about the status of your missing wallet.

I filled those two pages once again about two weeks ago and have yet to receive a reply.

I don't have any corresponding wallet addresses to go with either of those two URLs due to them just being moved to new addresses on about March 27th (maybe 28th at the latest), 2013.

The one thing I do recall is that all three wallets shown a balance of zero, and the "block chain" shown that the funds were residing in other freshly created wallet addresses, but gave it no concern due to being rest assured by you that that's the way InstaWallet worked. I wasn't even aware of the hack on the first until the 3rd of April when it was mentioned to me via another thread by greyhawk during some mundane conversation I believe (can easily be found). The wallet address wasn't written down because I used Chrome's bookmaking system to log into InstaWallet.

I wanted patiently, albeit was very pissed off at the onset of this fiasco, because I assumed, as promised, that all would be well after 90 days passes, being that two wallets were over the 50 BTC limit that, by the way, some bitcoiners were paid out that amount and over without having to wait for that self-imposed 90 day limit. My hands were tied during the entire process, but now I'm being informed, in no uncertain terms, I need to somehow provide info that I don't have, coupled with not knowing exactly what's required, although I went through the claim process back in April, and again two weeks ago, but for only two the claims, now not being able to do anything on the page for the smallest claim.

Therefore, what ID are you speaking of so that I can email you what you request, or are the URLs the ID? I'm still not sure what's meant by 'key', but I believe it's the last part of the URL. I've asked in the past what's meant by it, but never received an answer to that simple question.

Bruno Kucinskas

EDIT: The following is the post by greyhawk that brought the hack to my attention:

Aaaaaaaaand it's gone. Forever. This is an ex-change, wait, I mean, this ship has banked, wait, I mean, it's bubble has popped.

This ain't good!

Will you disclose if they give you a half-working Terraminer?  j/k.  Thanks for making the trip.

I'll answer this while I'm taking a shit in some Texan McDonald's bathroom using their free Wi-Fi. I will not accept any gifts, half-working or otherwise.

I'm currently on the road heading to Las Vegas

Off Topic a little but you are heading to the Inside Bitcoin conference right?

I'll be there as well and I'd like to buy you a couple drinks Tongue

"Has anybody seen Bargraphics?"

"I think that's him at the bar buying that dude in a pink tutu a drink."

to Mark, me

Dear Mark,

Please meet my friend Dmitry. We met in business school and he now runs a foundation that is looking for worthy nonprofits to donate to. He just donated $1,000 each to my friend Jessie's IBME and my friend Amy's Primate Education Network. He's looking for nonpolitical, nonreligious organizations and I think he might like Washington Improv Theater.

Dmitry's foundation is called BitCoin100. They arose out of the generosity of a few early BitCoin adopters to promote the value of the currency for nonprofits: when donors make their donations in BitCoins, the recipient nonprofit keeps 100% (hence the name). None of the funds are lost to credit card or processing fees.

BitCoin100 donates $1,000 to selected nonprofits who agree to accept the currency on their donation page. It doesn't take much work to get it set up, but I know the money could do a lot of good supporting more of the awesome programs you put on with W.I.T.

@Dmitry, Mark is a friend of mine who has been Washington Improv Theater's executive director for years. He works tirelessly to organize classes for folks in DC to build confidence and have fun learning the art of improv comedy and put on shows. Like most arts programs, their efforts rarely break even, so they rely heavily on the generosity of the community and private funders. A $1,000 donation would make a big difference for their work.

Good luck!

I'm a bit more ambivalent about this one. Pros/cons/ideas?
EDIT: Actually I'm ok with this one too. Still, feedback would be appreciated.

Phinn is being busy, no one else is willing to comment, and these guys moved FAST!

So, hopefully my judgement is good enough, and $1,000 sent

I'm a couple behind now, but the vetting process is quite simple. I check to make sure that the domain has been registered for a decent amount of time, then check the Wayback Machine to make sure their site has been live for close to the same amount of time.

I also check to make sure none of the principles are bitcoiners looking for a freebie, of which has been attempted, but not necessarily on purpose. Also, I check to make sure they are not religious- or politically-based.

Bonus points awarded if there's a goat on their home page.  Grin

Time to shower, then off to see edd. Having dinner tonight with him at probably Ruth's Christ Steak House.

Looks like The Tutu Project is right up our alley, and looks like a fine candidate to receive a $1K USD endowment via bitcoins from Bitcoin 100. Send them an email, and get the ball a rollin'!

Dear Dmitry,

Thank you for your kind offer and I'll discuss it with our business manager.

Warm regards,
Linda

Guess we either wait, or chuck this one off to "we'll get back to you later" which means never?

Care to guess again! While in Las Vegas, I'll be donning a pink tutu--for two days--in spirit of their fine organization, The Tutu Project.

Hi,
I know of an NPO called Life Line Association that resides in Israel.
They are working on improving the quality of life and saving lives in Israel, mostly for people with rare diseases or complications looking for help to afford costly medical treatments.
A couple of friends of mine have a son with Canavan's disease, a genetic disease affecting the brain similarly to multiple sclerosis but starts in the womb and progressing much more quickly.
I'd like to help them and the NPO they're getting donations from to accept bitcoins.
I'm a developer so I can help them technically and I would like to donate about 0.5 BTC from my own wallet.
Thanks,
David K.

We're going to need a link to a website from David for this one, Rassah. I'm at a lost as to which site it is.

Just got it in e-mail http://www.kavlachayim.co.il/?categoryId=76602
Sounds fine to me. Anyone have objections?

EDIT: By the way, I noticed we got moved into "Services." *shakes fist at mods*

And, once again, my posts and claims go completely ignored because...wait for it...I'm probably still on ignore.

We all know that InstaWallet was not a money producing entity. I'm not sure what Paymium was able to pull in as revenue prior to the hack or now, but there's a handful of principles on the payroll, all of which aren't working for free.

Surely, my three claims totally 1,123+ BTC isn't what's going to be used to pay for said services, are they? If that's their intent, then there's a word for that--thief! Since I was one of the first people to file claims, and have yet heard a word as to what's the latest, I currently have no choice but to think otherwise.

I still have options available to me to get this matter resolve, one of which consists of having ALL the books of ALL the entities and their principles related to InstaWallet opened.

This has gone on long enough.

Good morning, fellow bitcoiners. <Atlas, get the fuck outta my head!>  Grin

As some of you may know, I'm currently on the road heading to Las Vegas, now in Beaumont, TX, and having dinner with edd this evening in his hometown not far from Austin. Tomorrow, I will be at CoinTerra's office, taking advantage of their open-to-all-at-any-time-lab-visit.

Post all your questions, and what pics you desire me to take while on-site in this thread. I will ask every question that is posted in this thread via my laptop. (Note to self: wipe stains off laptop prior to having it viewed by somebody apt to get the wrong idea.)

I will answer them in order, live, for there's probably no way for me to remember all the answers sans a recorder.

I am doing this on my dime and WILL NOT accept any compensation for this service(s) provided to/for my fellow bitcoiners.

That said, ask away.

You might want to move your post to the correct forum.

What forum would that be? This is a Bitcoin thread about bears. What is wrong with it being here? And maybe in addition to complaining you can contribute.  Grin

I wasn't complaining, I enjoyed your post. I simply think it will lead to more discussion if you place it in the correct forum.

A mod moved it, but I disagree with the new location as well. I'll give you a hint: What do bears (as you've used it in this thread) do?

My apologies then. Bears eat a lot?
Not in the Speculation thread as this is more than just a money topic. Hmmmm....

Question - How does one contact a mod? I mean this is a Bitcoin thread and it is in the off topic forum? That sort of kills things.

In the spirit of the thread:

Thanks to this post, I became a fan of http://www.jonmcnaughton.com/the-empowered-man-1/.

You might want to move your post to the correct forum.

do we have a humor section?

It was once considered, but theymos nixed the idea due to the cost it would take to maintain it, coupled with he then would have to hire a mod with a sense of humour (see what I did there, my Aussie friend?).

Arrived in Biloxi, MS about 8 PM. On the way there, I keep thinking about a certain female poker room manager that used to work at the Grand Casino, prior to Katrina, named Cecere (misspelled, I think). I opted to only visit the Beau Rivage, and guess who was the first person I ran into? Atlas! Seriously, it was Cecere, for she's now the second shift manager in the poker room at the Beau. Even though I now have a long white beard, she said she knew who I was by my eyes.

She then informed me that a 1-3 NL seat was available, so I figured I might as well get a reduced room rate by logging in a couple hours. The normal rate is $79/night. The poker rate is $79/night. Too bad I didn't do my homework prior to putting in the session. I did happen to squeak out a $78 win, having been down $122 and up $143. Not too bad of a swing for not playing live poker for several years.

Somebody at the table mentioned buying drugs, so I plugged Silk Road to see where that would lead. Sure enough, I was soon holding court, discussing Bitcoin with a table full of drunks. Ironically, all but the dealer was aware of Bitcoin.

Left Biloxi late, and just got to Beaumont, TX. edd called, so I'm having dinner with him Thursday night, probably at Ruth's Chris Steak House. Friday, I'm heading to CoinTerra's office/lab in Austin, TX.

You're not going to believe this, but all the micro-pizzas were eaten by a horde of homeless locusts.  Cry

We're going to have to settle on a conventional meal. I'm leaving Pensacola, FL, later in the afternoon, spending the night it Biloxi, MS. After that, I'm heading to Austin, TX, to visit CoinTerra's Lab. It's after that I wish to meet up you. Give me a call at [redacted] so that I'll have your number and to make arrangements, edd.

Bruno Kucinskas

Will do, Bruno. I'm usually available in the evenings and would prefer to meet closer to San Antonio if it's not too inconvenient. Traffic from here to Austin is brutal after 4 PM, turning it into a 2 hour trip each way for me.

I can just imagine the conversation between my wife and I:

Me: "Hon, I'm headed out to meet Bruno/Phinnaeus for dinner. I'll be back in five hours or so."

Her: "Is that the one with the coffee table?"

Me: "No, someone else has the table, he just has an unhealthy obsession with it."

Her: "Wasn't he posting pictures of she-males, too?"

Me: "You saw those?"

Her: "And now you're going out to dinner with him and you'll be gone for five hours."

Me: "..."

Her: "Have fun!"

Her: "So, how was dinner with Bruno?"

edd: "Great! He's such a... a... a... Anything happened while I was gone?"

Her: "So, what did you two talk about?"

edd: "Bitcoins and pink tutus. Night, honey! It's been a long day."

Her: "But you promised that tonight... PINK TUTU!?"

edd: "And goats. Long story."

Her: "Hey, sis! Do you know a good divorce lawyer?"

You strike me as one hell of a guy Phinn.

Something about your post made me think about doing the following: Getting a dog leash, and pretending to be Josh's poodle.  Grin

Wouldn't that be hilarious, somebody walking up to Josh from behind and handing him the leash, then somebody snapping a pic of the look on his face when he sees me at the other end?

Come to think of it, I was planning on wearing a black tie or bow (think Jeffrey Tucker) affixed to an orange dress shirt, but a dog collar (since my real name is Bruno--see the connection?) and leash would work out just fine.

Since I can't don the tutu like a kilt (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R2ouuPyYVDw), a pair of white long underwear with a pair of swimming trunks over them underneath the pink tutu should suffice. Pink socks and a pair of slippers would balance out the get-up, don't you think? Almost forgot: I'll need to wear that same straw hat I wore in Atlanta. It still has the price tag on it.

If you want tulips, one only has to hold US Dollars.  Being printed to the tune of an additional $85 billion per month.  Hundreds of Trillions of dollars in debt and unfunded liabilities.

I'll take my chances with bitcoin.

Most US Dollars = Virtual Tulips

Thanks. Thought that link looked suspicious.

Then the link should be broken up via a "..." maybe so that it's not accidental clicked.

Let me see if I have this correct. The same person that is comparing bitcoins to tulip, is one we're trying to save all future transaction fees for him and his family and friends, yet, instead of embracing change, of which he advocates, he opts to throw it under the bus.
