Any psu will work, EVGA's are popular As for the avalon, the ROI on those is even harder to get then that of the S9...

I am waiting on finsky to get in more stock, will he have these new 4k boards soon as well? I'm looking to put up a 8k setup, so the newer boards are very interesting Love your product, always a treat not having to solder my own cables and boards, saves me a lot of time and cursing. Although I trust my skills, when dealing with these kinds of draws, properly built boards always make me feel better than homemade setups. Yes, of course. I don't think Finksy has any of my boards, I have been selling them here and on my website. I have 50 boards assembled, but am missing some connectors. They are due on 1/7/2017. I should have all 50 of the 4ks ready by then. Cheers, -Optim Oh I thought Finsky was reselling your boards, hmm guess not. Thanks

As for the heat, counteracting the heat is not the answer, ventilation is key, so having cool air go into the room is fine, but you need to expel air as well, or you're going to double your electricity cost's by running a heater and air conditioner at the same time.
Also I agree, start with the S7, the use the same power, so once they are running and you have it figured out, upgrading to an S9 isn't a big deal. And initial startup cost's are not to big.
Be sure you have access to dedicated circuits, and preferably 208+Volts, not just 120.
As for the horror stories, I've yet to see a company that hasn't had SOME form of complaints posted, as far as bitmain goes, they are one of the most reliable.

Fun discussions. As an electrician I know all the sneaky ways to find 220 in a home, lol And have helped people setup for such things in the past.
Please note, that even the EVGA etc. PSU's that run at 120, WILL all run at 208+ and are actually slightly more efficient, and draw less amps over the wiring so is safer. I always recommend 208 if it's even remotely possible. Regardless of PSU.
You CAN... wire a standard 20amp 120v plug to output 208, which saves money as you can than use the stock high quality PSU power cable that comes witht he EVGA.
Just note that that isn't code, and if you forget and plug other items into said plug, they may go poof.
Although a surprisingly large amount of stuff can run on both 120 and 208.
Pixel I'm also in Manitoba, feel free to give me a shout if you need anything.

That's what I am gathering. I like the fact that they stick with the same form factor, but feel they are getting thing's a little tight. Who knows maybe having it that tight is best for cooling? Maybe a new gen with a bit less power, less noise, but not as pricey as their latest home miner. Hmm With the av7 launch, thing's are starting to get interesting

Has anyone had luck making the S9 a bit more silent? under powering them seem to help at all? And does the antminer software have the ability to change it's hash rate based on time of day? ramp up during day when I'm away, be a bit better when I'm home etc.?

Thanks for another great guide.
Has anyone had luck with knocking the noise level down on these beasts? I just ordered the latest 14th batch. and will be running it in an apartment with free power, so noise is somewhat a concern. Additional quitter fans is possible, spreading the boards on in a bigger case maybe with more fans etc.
been searching around, having a heck of a time though.
Thank you

Bah just bit the bullet and ordered the latest. Have access to free power for 6 months. So may as well go with the highest output model
