521  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: IS IT SCAM ? OR IS THIS REAL ANY IDEAS on: October 02, 2019, 08:07:42 PM
The number of people in a Telegram channel or a Discord channel or wherever you might find other schemes doesn't really matter at the end of the day, either- the number of users in a channel can pretty easily be faked or the owner of a channel could be making accounts to boost the user count.

Don't ever risk any money on an HYIP. There's a significant chance you might lose all of your funds through a HYIP, and you're honestly better off just gambling that money. HYIPs are generally extremely easy to spot, as most of them offer unrealistically high rates of return. Always remember- if something's too good to be true, it definitely is.
522  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Want to learn trading on: October 02, 2019, 01:07:24 PM
There's a ton of great articles on Medium about certain indicators on Medium as well, if you're trying to learn about that. There's also plenty of articles about risk management and many of the other things you need to understand to have a basic understanding of what it takes to trade too; don't shy away from articles that aren't explicitly targeted at crypto trading either. Many of those other things still apply to crypto markets, though you might need to alter certain parts of those strategies or customize a number in the indicators for best results.
523  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What the heck happened to the prices? on: October 01, 2019, 10:47:27 PM
Bitmex was actually a few hundred dollars below their fair market pricing (gathered using spot exchanges) during and after the initial drop due to (mostly) long liquidations, though the gap between Bitmex's XBTUSD pricing and the market pricing eventually closed a few hours after the bulk of the dumping stopped. Liquidations definitely do amplify market moves in crypto now, especially as more people are trading using leverage than ever, but it's not the sole reason why the drop happened either. The breakdown of the bottom trendline of the huge descending triangle people were watching for weeks also made people short and sell coins, which accelerated the dumping.
524  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto at Risk Due to Malware on: October 01, 2019, 09:02:12 PM
If you're using common sense and you're not downloading suspicious applications and making sure you're getting software from the original source or a trusted source (VERY important), you'll be at minimal risk for malware getting into your computer. Some Chrome extensions occasionally get hijacked through various methods as well (or are outright scams), so for security's sake, make sure you're using as few extensions as possible if you like using Chrome. It might be more convenient to use tons of extensions, but you're also increasing the number of vectors in which your computer could be compromised through.

Might be a good idea to turn off running Javascript in Chrome or whatever browser(s) you choose to use as well.
525  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Purpose/ Value in everyday life on: October 01, 2019, 08:55:58 PM
I use Bitcoin every once in a while to buy products, mostly electronics such as computer parts and whole computers, from sites like Newegg, and it works just as well as if I were to be paying with a debit or credit card. The main difference is just waiting for my funds to confirm, which usually doesn't take very long. Steam also used to accept Bitcoin, though they no longer do and I have to buy Steam gift cards from sites like Bitrefill (click for direct link) which do the job just fine, and processing is very quick besides waiting for confirms just like with Newegg. I still hold the majority of my stash in cold storage, but I still do spend some of it from time to time with ease.
526  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Invest in bitcoin casino bankroll on: October 01, 2019, 08:50:30 PM
Some sites also allow you to leverage your investment into their bankrolls, though do note that with higher leverage it's possible you could lose it all if someone happens to win big and cashes out. Just like with trading, if you're leveraging your investment, you're increasing the potential rewards you could be earning from your investment but also the potential risks. Keep it realistic if you choose to use leverage, and always be aware of what you're going into when you choose to leverage your investment.
527  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Suspension of Latoken account. on: October 01, 2019, 01:17:07 AM
Contact the exchange's support to see if it's possible to get your coins and whatever you've got stored on the site back if you've got a significant amount of crypto on there, and don't use the site again. Always use larger and more well-known exchanges such as Binance in the future; you'll likely find less problems there and you'll generally get effective and sometimes fast support on them. Doesn't look like a great exchange to me considering the latest posts on the exchange's official thread (click for link), and the account representing the exchange (click for link) is also tagged with red trust. I hope you'll get your crypto and your account back if you were indeed trading normally as you said.
528  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: May Altcoin have chance to rally even if Bitcoin dominance is below 70%? on: September 30, 2019, 02:10:41 PM
Even though I'm extremely heavily invested in BTC, I don't think it's going to hold it's extremely high market dominance for ever either. In the event that BTC starts another major rally again, people are going to start looking into alts for investment in addition to or as an alternative to investing into BTC, and that could cause alts to gain market dominance once more. No matter what happens, though, I find it extremely unlikely that anything's going to take Bitcoin's spot as the #1 cryptocurrency anytime soon. It's the cryptocurrency the most people recognise and know, and there's reputability with Bitcoin for how long it's existed.
529  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Tools to improve your trading on: September 30, 2019, 01:53:20 PM
I use Bitmex quite often, and the tool I use most often would have to be antiliquidation.com- it's a great calculator that allows you to figure out your position size, leverage and return/risk based on your capital and the amount of Bitcoin you're willing to risk. Really helps you keep things exact and helps you keep risk to an amount that you specify, and There's a checklist that is listed on the right side to help you out as well. If you're correctly using this tool, you'll likely never be liquidated again (you should be using stops anyways on a leveraged trading site anyways).
530  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which betting type gives you the most payout? on: September 30, 2019, 01:40:23 PM
I've always usually just used the simple betting method and I don't have any plans of switching over to any other method of betting in the future, though I will say I've had good luck with parlay betting in the past with esports. I'd say the method that gives you the most payout would be the one that you understand the best and the one that you are personally most comfortable with. Try out all of these methods sometime, and use the one you like the most.
531  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are Alt-coins success attached to the Platform they are on? on: September 29, 2019, 09:00:20 PM
I also agree with the poster above- the quality of the actual project itself is more important than whatever other blockchain you're using as a base for your own token or whatever you're trying to create. There certainly are successful tokens and alts out there built on top of other blockchains, but their success can't solely be attributed to the underlying platform.

I could certainly see a lot of Ethereum-based tokens going away in the near future, though. We could indeed be entering some sort of crypto bear market as much as I'd like to hope we aren't, and that could mean alt prices will continue dropping against BTC and perhaps also against fiat as well. Though there's not as many this time as with 2017-2018, there's still some projects that don't really have any good uses and might disappear if we do enter a bear market soon.
532  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Coinmarketexpert:Do you trade, HODL or both? on: September 29, 2019, 08:46:04 PM
I hold far more than I trade. Most of my success with crypto comes from just slowly accumulating and holding my coins, and there's a ton of risk involved with trading (especially leveraged trading) that makes it pretty difficult to profit from at times. Holding's also extremely easy to do (for most people) and all you really is just patience at the end of the day. It's also typically a successful strategy for most people, whereas the majority of traders won't ever make any meaningful amount of profit overall.
533  Other / Meta / Re: Should a post be deleted from poor grammar? on: September 29, 2019, 03:22:24 PM
The formatting of a post can be more important than the grammar as well. I often see people quoting long strings of other quotes that makes a page of a thread and a post extremely long and difficult to read, though the solution to this is relatively simple. Just delete any of the other quotes that you're not directly responding to or aren't as important to what you're talking about. Makes things much easier to read on here, and it makes you look like a better poster too.
534  Economy / Speculation / Re: Down below $9k! Buy the dip now? on: September 29, 2019, 01:47:50 PM
I've bought a bit more on this dip in the upper $7ks mostly because I noticed that the weekly candle neatly bounced off the 50 Weekly SMA, and we've since stopped making lower lows on the 4H, but rather higher lows. I'm not completely betting that this is the bottom, because there's definitely potential that we could continue downwards deeper into the $7ks, but I'll be waiting for my bids to be filled if that does happen.
535  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tricks and tips for esports betting on: September 29, 2019, 01:43:01 PM

How has that turned out to be so far? I think on average only 2 of 10 situations that underdogs in any fixture wins. I haven't tried betting that that kinda risk before. It's more like throwing money away without the slightest hope of getting it back.

For me, I just like toying with lower risk. I even double chance of the top dogs to win just to be on the safer side. Well, My success rate has improved significantly even if the rewards aren't much.

Betting on the underdog only really works out if there's a legitimate chance that the underdog could win based on extremely recent performance or one or more of the players on the overdog team are sick and replaced by a coach or something of the sort. I've won plenty of times betting on the underdog of a Counter-Strike match based on coaches subbing in for players on a roster that can't play, though I also mostly bet on the overdog because most of the time it just makes sense to do so. It's indeed relatively high risk, but one win can net you extremely high rewards as well.
536  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: stick to the same option or switch to another option? on: September 28, 2019, 05:30:46 PM
Most of the people that have made money through crypto got that money through long to mid-term holding or long to mid-term trading for large movements, not from some magical pump that comes from nowhere. People get burned from treating cryptocurrency as something you can milk money out of quickly, and it's pretty apparent even just from the dump we had several days ago. That's not to say that people who trade shorter timeframes or hold for shorter periods of time can't make money, but it's certainly more simple and often times more successful to be playing for longer timeframes with crypto.
537  Other / Meta / Re: Suggestions to Improve the India forum on: September 28, 2019, 04:58:35 PM
I was almost going to comment about not merging the Indian Off-Topic board over to the main one, but on second inspection it does seem somewhat appropriate considering all of the (relatively few) threads in there seem to be in English. Merging the Indian Off-Topic board to the main one shouldn't cause too many issues with making things too messy and hard to navigate in this case. Shouldn't cause too many problems because there just seems to be so little activity in that particular board as well.
538  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bitmex charts -vs- other exchanges' charts? on: September 28, 2019, 04:52:13 PM
I honestly do not really trust Bitmex. They manipulate the price. I have not used it for a long time. Almost no difference what to choose, the main thing that it was something reliable

Why do you say that? Many trust Bitmex. https://revain.org/exchanges/bitmex. As you can see, there is a reason to trust this exchange - 4,7 / 5. 4,7 stars -this is a good indicator.

That really doesn't mean much at the end of the day, and from skimming through a few of these reviews people don't mention very many flaws that Bitmex has, such as the site overloading when the price of a contract starts swinging fast in one direction (which means it's extremely difficult to submit orders during overloads), even though there's now a revamped order queue system that's somewhat eliminated the overloads. While it's true that there's plenty of people that trust the site, it's definitely not a 4.7/5 exchange in my eyes even though I trade very often on it.
539  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How many gambling sites are you playing and do you use the same strategy on: September 28, 2019, 04:44:58 PM
I play on a large variety of sites including but not limited to Fortunejack, Primedice, Bustabit (and other crash gambling sites) and occasionally Crypto-Games as well. I've never been one for strategies with most games and I usually just end up gambling randomly because house edge means you're eventually going to lose over time no matter what you do, and I enjoy action more than just running a strategy. That's just not as fun for me. The only times I usually end up using some sort of strategy would be with esports betting and sometimes crash gambling.
540  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Price Dropping - Are You Scared? on: September 26, 2019, 10:25:35 PM
Not very much. I was trading with a little bit of my stack that was leveraged that ended up getting stopped out in the large, red daily candle we had a few days ago, but I've still got a good portion of my Bitcoin holdings still in cold storage and my averaged entry cost is still below our current price. I'm also continually dollar cost averaging every week or so, so these prices are a decent time to be adding to your stash IMO. There's certainly plenty of bearish FUD out there at this time, even a bit in this subsection of this forum, so be aware of what you're reading around here and on the internet.
