5301  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bittrex Officially Announces New Features and Benefits for Users on: June 26, 2020, 02:41:08 AM
that is usually the case with all exchanges. they rob their users and then call it a hack. for example Bittrex sold their users personal information including their KYC documents on the darknet and called that a leak and blamed a hacker. or a couple of years ago they mass scammed a large number of their users out of millions of dollars worth of cryptocurrencies overnight!

@pooya87. Can you share the news articles? I found some articles about the data leak, however, the accusuation that Bittrex leaked their own customers' personal information to the darknet were inconclusive.

Was the mass scam an IEO?

@anshulinpc. You can connect to a remote public node if you are having some problems syncing your own node. Read the instructions in this web page.

https://hashvault.pro/help/en/guides/aeon-remote-node-new-wallet-guide/

Also, @everyone, can anyone post an updated list of remote nodes?

Just wanted to give you an update. I am now able to sync the local node.. and it is connected to the network.
Testing it with a receive transaction to see if it completes successfully.
i initiated the transaction 30 mins back but still waiting for the coins to come in my wallet.
is there any way to see the status?

Thanks for your help!

Hello, it is good to know that you have synced your wallet.

In any case, you can refresh your wallet in the command line to see if your transaction has arrived. You should also verify with your exchange that it has sent your coins hehehe.
5303  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: US Presidential Election 2020 on: June 25, 2020, 05:27:00 AM
In any case, the polls, the odds has suddenly made it become 2016 again where the Democrats were so certain that Hillary would win.

not exactly---otherwise i'd be betting. most polls were hovering around 80% in favor of clinton on election day IIRC, with betting odds around 75%. we've still got a ways to go from there. betfair is still pricing biden at 57% to win.

Trump is on a better position today than what the sportsbooks offered on this month on 2016 hehehe. The sportsbooks might have learned from their mistake, however, I speculate the Democrats might be overconfident based on some of the news articles I have read.

@figmentofmyass. I speculate that Paypal might only follow what Neteller has done. They might create a cryptocoin brokerage service that cannot withdraw your funds in cryptocoins.

Roger's forum has never reached the popularity that it needed to compete against bitcointalk.

Rizlarolla went there after discovering the thousands of farmed accounts here that also caused him to speculate that the many hacked account claims during 2016 were also scams.
5306  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bittrex Officially Announces New Features and Benefits for Users on: June 25, 2020, 02:39:16 AM
Finally they do something for users, but I am asking myself why it took so much time? They are loosing the position of the biggest exchange for 2 years and after they lost almost everything they invent new referral progra.?

That means they want to get back on the top. IIRC,Bittrex was one of the top exchange in the past before the arrival of Binance but maybe they got so confident that they will be replace so they didn't see it coming that a new exchange will eventually bring them down.

I still have an account with Bittrex but I'm not anymore actively using it, hopefully time will come that their hype will come back again.
Miss the old Bittrex and Poloniex, those days though. . Grin

Also, I do not remember any news articles written that they were hacked or a victim of theft. I reckon this might show that they have one of the best security teams in the cryptospace or they have one of the most honest teams.

There might be some theft that might be the owners of the exchange themselves stealing from their own customers hehehe.

@figmentofmyass, @STT. Trump is a populist with an inclination towards authoritarianism to run his policies. I reckon Bernie is similar to Trump, however more reasonable.

In any case, the polls, the odds has suddenly made it become 2016 again where the Democrats were so certain that Hillary would win.
5309  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [NEWS] Money Reimagined: Ethereum’s Renaissance Creates an Opportunity on: June 24, 2020, 01:23:11 AM
I mean its pretty much obvious by now that the whole DEFI thingy is the new ICO of 2020. So much hype and people thinks that they can really make a lot of money, irrational investors. But it doesn't change anything on Ethereum and any other platform for that matter. And the article is like a click-bait, there's no rebirth here, no re-invention of the wheel and as much as they project something, it isn't, they just want to fit their narratives.

And I'm sure there are argument that bitcoin BTC is the only "De-Fi", the original.

What does not change anything on Ethereum? What did it fix in the world that needed fixing?

Also, the argument was would Ethereum be considered to have more utility than bitcoin if much of the activity on Ethereum is on a speculative ponzi scheme smart contract?
5310  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-06-23] Bitcoin name and logo patented in Spain on: June 24, 2020, 12:58:49 AM
@Aveatrex. This will create a disadvantageous situation for the bitcoin community in Spain. The person will have the legal right to demand a cease and desist order on anyone that uses the brand.
5311  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-06-23] PayPal Rumors Push Bitcoin Higher as On-Chain Transactions Surge on: June 24, 2020, 12:34:55 AM
Morons..
...
The so-called surge is happening weekly, it's the difference between Sundays and Mondays, this is how it looks for 30 days, notice that 31May, 7th, 14th and 21st of June are all Sundays:

...

lol.  Those pics are worth 1000 words.

PayPal getting involved in BTC at this point seems pretty unlikely given the KYC requirements.  While they no doubt do know their customers, the difference between PayPal and, say, Coinbase in the KYC requirements seems huge.  (I haven't had to register for either in quite some time so perhaps that has changed).

How huge was the difference during the time when you have registered? Also, how many users does Paypal presently have that has done KYC already?

Yesterdays rally in Tulsa didn't help Trump, Bidens odds have even gone further down to around 1.80 now. The upper decks in BOK Center were mostly empty and an outdoor speech was cancelled.

Source: https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/world/2020/06/trump-s-tulsa-rally-empty-seats-outdoor-speeches-cancelled-after-poor-turnout.html

While I think it's understandable that a lot of seats remained empty - who wants to be indoors with 19k other people during these times - I am surprised by the cancellation of the outdoor speech due to underwhelming crowd, since being in a crowd outdoors is not that risky and you can distance yourself better. Republicans say it was due to protestors, fake news etc., but the betting markets reacted nonetheless.

I didn't watch it all yet, just some parts, but Trump said, that he asked for the Corona testing to be slowed down, to not have that many cases. Now a lot of countries have their own methods to make the numbers look good/better - China is only counting symptomatic cases - which is just part of politics I guess, but publicly stating such things, is just stupid Cheesy

Trump's online stream and tv viewers reached 11 million according to Neilsen ratings, however. The Democrats should not commit a similar mistake of overconfidence that they have done on 2016 with Hillary.

I speculate that the silent majority and some moderate democrats might vote for Trump because they do not want violence, book burning and the destruction of their culture. This is an issue many Democrats are ignoring and some are supporting.

This speech was funny hehehe.

5313  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / [NEWS] Money Reimagined: Ethereum’s Renaissance Creates an Opportunity on: June 23, 2020, 03:35:17 AM
This article is making it appear that Ethereum is better and more utilized than bitcoin for real utility while making it appear that bitcoin's activity is done only for speculation.

However, what the writer of the article did not mention is the leading smart contract in Ethereum that gives it utility is a ponzi scheme hehehehe.

As Ethereum prepares to celebrate the five-year anniversary of its mainnet launch on July 31, billions of dollars in value rest on that question. Specifically, on whether the all-important Ethereum 2.0 scaling project can be successfully launched and integrated into its existing architecture.

By most measures, the Ethereum ecosystem is undergoing an impressive growth spurt. Record-breaking “gas” usage for smart contract and payment executions has now put Ethereum’s daily transaction fees totals above those of bitcoin. A strong rally in the price of ether (ETH) means Ethereum’s native token is among just a few leading cryptocurrencies, including bitcoin, Cardano’s ADA and Stellar’s XLM, to have more or less shaken off the sharp crypto selloff seen in March. And the amount of second-tier value locked into Ethereum smart contracts is ballooning, with total daily value transfers on Ethereum reaching that of Bitcoin in April.

According to analysis by Glassnode, the majority of ether transactions are now used to pay for a variety of smart contact commands rather than simple monetary exchanges between so-called externally owned accounts. That, along with a reduction in large-scale “whale” ether accounts, suggests transactions on Ethereum are now more connected to utility than to speculative activity.

Bittrex is preparing for the bull market. Similar to 2017, the next bull market might witness an all time high of cryptocoin purchases through credit card debt and cash advances hehehehe.

As of today, Bittrex Global will accept Mastercard transactions by users looking to fund their exchange accounts.

Credit and debit cards are the most common payment method globally.

Accepting them is, in this modern day and age, virtually necessary to play any role of significance.

For the time being, Bittrex Global will accept this payment method from users in 36 countries

@Harlot. Also, bitcoin can also be considered a software message passing system similar to whatsapp, facebook messenger and also the bank's SWIFT is a message passing system.

The government must be careful on how they regulate bitcoin because it might create dangerous precedents.

5316  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Cryptospace services news and updates on: June 22, 2020, 02:45:38 AM
This is not news from a service in the cryptospace, however, this scandal is very similar to the scandals we have witnessed on exchanges.

I reckon that Wirecard AG should create a partnership with Bitfinex and ask them to print $2 billion USDT for them hehehehe.

Also, crypto.com CRO token is pumping. Wirecard is their payment card issuer. I shake my head.

Mark Tolentino, Trustee 2 of Wirecard

A financial scandal has rocked Germany as its fintech darling comes crashing following revelations some $2.1 billion, about a quarter of its assets, has gone missing.

Fingers are now being pointed towards Mark Kristopher G. Tolentino (pictured), the so called “Trustee 2” who managed this money and apparently is not responding.

According to a mainstream German daily, after being appointed as trustee in late 2019 Tolentino is said to have opened six accounts for Wirecard with the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) and BDO Unibank.

When KPMG auditors went to talk to these banks however, BPI told them there are no business relationships with Wirecard, while BDO said Wirecard is not a customer.

Wirecard is a financial company founded in 1999 that through a subsidiary was also an issuer for crypto payment card providers Crypto.com and TenX.

FT alleged in January 2019 that a senior executive was suspected of “falsification of accounts” and “money laundering,” with Wirecard launching a lawsuit in response for “unethical reporting” and market manipulation.

5317  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [AEON] Aeon Speculation on: June 22, 2020, 02:07:14 AM
I assume the percentage of block bloat might grow exponentially while transaction volume grows? It might be the best decision to leave RingCT inactivated, I reckon hehehe.

Lightweightedness for cryptonote is very undervalued and a very underestimated feature needed for adoption.
5318  Economy / Speculation / Here’s the Case for Bitcoin (BTC) Rise to $180,000, According to Weiss Ratings on: June 22, 2020, 01:21:12 AM
Where is Tom Lee? Similar to him, the people in the cryptospace has not heard of the name Paul Tudor Jones before hehehe.

In any case, institutions are the most dangerous types of investors. They were the cause of the financial crisis of 2007 - 2008.

Paul Tudor Jones, hedge fund manager

Weiss Ratings, a US-based investment data firm, is laying out what it will take for Bitcoin to hit $180,000.

In a new review of the top cryptocurrency, the firm says the financial world is beginning to wake up to the true potential of BTC as a safe-haven asset. Weiss points to growing demand for shares of the Grayscale Bitcoin Trust as a sign of rising institutional interest.

Weiss believes the entry of billionaire hedge fund manager Paul Tudor Jones into the Bitcoin futures market shows institutions are paying increasing levels of attention to the crypto markets. The firm calls BTC the “one safe-haven asset with the most profit potential” in an environment where central banks print money at will.

@figmentofmyass. Agreed! However, I reckon that the whole gray market might never be bigger than the legal market. It might become only big enough to be good alternative.

I have been encouraging smooth and others in the Aeon community to apply for listings on exchanges that do not ask for KYC hehehe.
5320  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [AEON] Aeon Speculation on: June 21, 2020, 03:18:32 AM
@smooth. Syncing a Monero node becomes slow beginning on the height when RingCT was activated. A sacrifice done for privacy. However, it improved with bulletproof.

How much bigger would blocks become in Aeon with RingCT and bulletproof?
