@bigslimvdub. I am very surprised.

In any case, I read an article that Poloniex was purchased by a group of Chinese investors from Circle and the exchange is leaving the American market.

@morvillz7z. Agreed! Also, I am certain that Baltimore do not want to lose their final game of the regular season in front of their own fans hehehe.

What would be the difference on using bitcoin coinjoin after withdrawal and withdrawing by using Monero coins from Binance? Monero can be more dangerous, I reckon.

I reckon that everyone is very busy on Conor versus Cowboy. We are missing discussion on another battle of 2 sex kittens Claudia Gadelha versus Alexa Grasso hehehe.

@mich. Post the pictures hehehehe.

@freedomgo. I saw the handicap was +13.5 for the Atlanta Hawks before the news. What was the handicap after the news?
5806  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] AEON: Cryptonote privacy, efficiency, decentralization, and stability on: December 27, 2019, 03:55:27 AM
@bitpotter. Aeon is as good or better than some of the top projects in the cryptospace. It is stable, private enough and has 2 of the most experienced cryptocoin developers in the world.

There might be nothing to talk about, however, Aeon is ready.
5807  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [NEWS] YouTube Is Censoring Crypto Content, Channel Owners Say on: December 27, 2019, 03:41:14 AM
However, to everyone who is reading, will this massive censorship on cryptonews and cryptoshills on youtube not have a negative impact on bitcoin after the halving?

“There is a very real possibility the price of Bitcoin does not go up after halving. For the first time, there is a robust derivatives (futures, options) market for Bitcoin. Most firms looking to speculate on Bitcoin will trade a derivative, not the underlying.

A topic that’s been studied in other commodities markets is how pricing is set. Bitcoin is, arguably, a digital commodity. Normally, producers set the price of a commodity (classic S = D = P from Econ 101) when derivatives take off, producers lose the right to set prices…

Bloomberg Markets editor Joe Weisenthal is also skeptical of stock-to-flow predictions. In a recent newsletter, he argues that Bitcoin’s fixed supply is well-known and already priced in.

the contrarian in me is thrilled to see these bearish opinions. it seems like lots of people are beginning to doubt the halving narrative. this is a good thing: bull markets are built on skepticism and pessimism. i'd be a lot more worried right now if everyone was bullish and hopeful.

let the bears keep shorting bitcoin 5 months from the halving. see what happens. Wink

However, what would be your argument for her prediction that investors', assuming she is talking about the institutional investors, preference towards bitcoin derivatived instead of bitcoin?

Her argument is that no pump will occur because all money will be in cryptoderivatives.
5809  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-06-15] IRS turning its attention to recreational bitcoin investors on: December 27, 2019, 02:00:07 AM
@figmentofmyass. It is not a hard fork. It is a new blockchain where you need to make a one time swap migration from ETH1 to ETH2.

Is the swap as taxable event?
5810  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / [NEWS] YouTube Is Censoring Crypto Content, Channel Owners Say on: December 26, 2019, 04:02:30 AM
I reckon that 2020 might be the beginning of the bear market for cryptoshills hehehe. Youtube might be correct in banning some of those videos because many of them show lack of intelligence. Those scammers do not give a good representation of the cryptospace.

It might be the season to shill the decentralized uncensorable video platforms hehehehe.

YouTube has not publicly stated that crypto videos are against its rules, meaning that users must read between the lines to deduce what is being targeted. Chris Dunn has noted that his own videos were removed on the grounds that they were responsible for the “sale of regulated goods” and contained “harmful and dangerous content.”

The wording of these notices has led some commentators to argue that YouTube is deliberately cracking down ICOs, referral links, and other marketing activity that is related to cryptocurrency. Others believe that the crackdown is simply the result of an overactive algorithm, and that YouTube might reverse its decisions in the future

Many YouTube hosts are considering moving to decentralized and uncensorable video platforms, such as PeerTube, LBRY, BitChute, and DTube. Incidentally, Twitter is also planning to create a decentralized media platform. Though it is not explicitly aimed at video hosting, it is an attempt to challenge heavy-handed content policies.

5812  Economy / Speculation / Can Bitcoin Really Hit $1 Million? Demirors Warns Halving May Have Zero Impact on: December 26, 2019, 03:14:30 AM
I reckon the more qualified people in the forum like Carlton should share their arguments on this. Do you agree or disagree?

In any case, Meltem is pretty hehehe.

Meltem Demirors, the chief strategy officer at the digital asset manager CoinShares, is the latest to tackle the notion that Bitcoin will behave as it has in the past and rise dramatically after its next halving, which is set to happen in May of 2020.

She says the emergence of Bitcoin and crypto derivatives could change the trajectory of the leading cryptocurrency and make the impact of this next halving significantly different.

The more Bitcoin becomes an investable asset, the more its price becomes decoupled from its value and its supply and demand. It becomes yet another backwater in the great game of global speculation. It becomes ‘financialized.’ It becomes correlated to macro markets.

Today, the Bitcoin derivatives market is still small. But the market will grow quickly. will be interesting to watch. Derivatives on Bitcoin are an oxymoron. But they’re the fastest growing part of the market.”

Bloomberg Markets editor Joe Weisenthal is also skeptical of stock-to-flow predictions. In a recent newsletter, he argues that Bitcoin’s fixed supply is well-known and already priced in.

What gains? There are no gains until you sell any cryptocoin for fiat later. Does the American government tax people for paper gains from holding stocks.
The IRS says that trading a cryptocurrency for another cryptocurrency is a taxable event, even if the trade never touched fiat in any way. If you are using BTC to day trade an altcoin, or using a stable coin like USDT to day trade BTC, every single buy/sell/trade needs to be declared and have tax paid on it based on the market value in USD at the time of the trade.

If overall you lost money in a financial year from trading crypto, you can file those losses to offset taxes you will pay on other income.

I remembered this discussion when I was reading about Ethereum 2.0 and their plan on swapping ETH1 for their new ETH2 tokens. Does the taxable event also apply on Ethereum's swap?

5815  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-12-19] Heard of bitcoin's 'halving'? It's set to shake crypto markets ... on: December 25, 2019, 03:57:49 AM
However, it also shows that the halving is not an immediate solution to end a bear market.

I don't think anyone thinks it will have an immediate change in price.  The November 2012 halving and then the July 2016 halving didn't cause an immediate huge spike.  I remember watching for the first post-halving block.  It was like watching grass grow.  But anyway, it took time for the price to increase.  It wasn't until spring 2013 when it started to go up a lot (5-6 months), and then it wasn't until maybe spring 2017 after the July 2016 (6-8 months) halving that things started to look up in fiat price.

I think it went something like this:  People were anticipating the halving, had bought some bitcoin beforehand hoping to make a quick buck.  When it didn't spike that day, week or in the next month, people started selling think it wasn't going to happen.  It took months to clear out the bitcoin people had purchased prior to the halving.  Once that supply was cleared out, the impact of the limited new supply became apparent and the price ended up reflecting that over time.

So I wouldn't expect a spike in the middle of May 2020.  There will likely be some increased demand between now and May because people want to get in prior to the halving so the fiat price may go up but I wouldn't expect a big spike in price on May 14th (or whenever it ends up actually occurring) for the same reasons it hasn't happened in the past.

Will the next halving result in a similar price spike as the previous ones?  No one knows, but if new demand for bitcoin remains the same while the new supply is cut in half yes.

However, you do not think that there is a first time for everything? That it might be the first time that bitcoin might stay on a bear market after a halving because all demand is exhausted?

Merry christmas and a happy new year to all! The thread should not be stuck on the 3rd page hehehe. Where did all the holders go?

Also, looking at how small Aeon is in community, in market capitalization, in development team, anyone can see that we do not have the funds to pay exchanges hehehe. The project also has zero promotion except for what the community contributes.

Welcome to the financial world. The most (over) regulated sector across the planet.

Scale the original transparent Bitcoin industrial way or get regulated into nowhere

Told ya

What does it mean to scale the original transparent bitcoin industrial way? How would it make bitcoin avoid the regulations?
5820  Economy / Gambling / Re: Cloudbet | Bitcoin Casino & Sportsbook | The No.1 Bitcoin Gambling Site on: December 24, 2019, 02:05:10 AM
@Ronnie. Will Cloudbet offer the odds for the coming Oscar awards on 2020?

Also, I reckon that we should have more movies betting similar to the + or - Rottentomatoes rating for Starwars hehehe.
