5761  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price: US-Iran conflict is the answer on: January 09, 2020, 01:02:53 AM
It appears that the Iran conflict pump might be finished. What would be next the storyboard to pump bitcoin to $10k? Trump declares world war 3 hehehe?

Would that be a happy moment for everyone?
5762  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Iran Buying Bitcoin’ Narrative Quashed by LocalBitcoins Data on: January 09, 2020, 12:37:51 AM
@cr1776. Do the storyboards influence the price or does the price create the storyboards? The bitcoin news media would say anything to capture our eyes and get our clicks hehe.

It is entertaintment, however.
5763  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price: US-Iran conflict is the answer on: January 08, 2020, 03:51:21 AM
According to market analysts, escalating tensions between the US and Iran have prompted an increase in Bitcoin price.

General Qasem Soleimani, head of the elite Quds Force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, was murdered by U.S. Troops in Iraq. This pushed Bitcoin price higher than $7,500, and a broke a steady decline on the price that started before Christmas.

The cryptocurrency is pretty volatile, making it hard to connect one factor to significant market fluctuations, but international instability is often cited as a factor contributing to rising Bitcoin price.

Full article: https://unblocked.press/bs-bitcoin/bitcoin-price-us-iran-conflict-is-the-answer/

What do you think about this situation?

So do we need another, events or conflicts like this for another price hike? the data shows it's true but there are good series of events that also lead to the price increase and I'd like the good series of events than a conflict that could escalate to something bad, but we have proven that Bitcoin is a safe haven for this kind of situation, it's easy and all you need is a USB or a paper wallet, neve rimagine you can move a huge funds with just a USB and a piece of paper.

What data are you basing this on? The localbitcoins data show that the news are false. The localbitcoins volume in Iran has been one of the lowest of all time since its beginning.
5764  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-01-06] Mike Novogratz Expects a Bullish Period for Bitcoin and Gold on: January 08, 2020, 03:20:28 AM
We have to look at how his fund performed based on his 'expertise'. Shit. The dude at the very lows of the market looked at a $100 million paper loss.

The only good thing here is that he has skin in the game, unlike Tom Lee who's constantly talking out of his ass without putting money where his mouth is.

That once again shows that despite your wealth, you can't buy success within this space. Mike is just as much speculating/hoping as much as most people here do. Nothing special about it. Same outcomes too; more often wrong than right.

I reckon Tom Lee has more than skin in the game. His reputation hehehe. That should be worth more than any currency for him because Fundstrat depends on it hehe.
5765  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-01-04] New crisis in the Middle East: Good for bitcoin, bad for the world on: January 08, 2020, 02:58:02 AM
I read, you guys argue about whether Bitcoin should be used as a speculative investment or "in a proper way", and this what came to mind. Every valuable object is actually used both ways. Take famous paintings, such as Leonardo da Vinci's, Paul Gauguin's etc., for example. Shouldn't all of them be used "as intended", so that people could look at them and be inspired for doing great things or something? Yet, they are mostly talked about today because some of them cost hundreds of millions USD. Same goes for cars, postage stamps, and even money, coins and paper, if they are collectibles. So, I think there's absolutely nothing wrong with BTC being also used as such.

Interchange by Willem de Kooning. Sold for $300 Million in September 2015.

It is an industry of scam for rich people. The dealers sell them overpriced paintings to hold as an investment to sell to a greater fool on a higher price.

This industry also has its own media news outlets, their own exchanges, its own community. I hope gentlemand is right about the cryptospace that the speculative investment phase is only temporary.
5766  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Iran Buying Bitcoin’ Narrative Quashed by LocalBitcoins Data on: January 08, 2020, 02:42:09 AM
@stompix. Also, many of those people would post and share on social media that the future of bitcoin is no regultions, however, they also shout on many other projects that they are illegal securities hehehe.
5767  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Iran Buying Bitcoin’ Narrative Quashed by LocalBitcoins Data on: January 07, 2020, 04:39:11 AM
I am honestly not certain if the data from localbitcoins.com represents what the article is implying, however, I am also not certain who the hypey news artists are anymore. The bitcoin maximalists creating fake storyboards or the ICO altcoin pumpers who do it also.

If the narrative peddled by those most optimistic for Bitcoin’s adoption as a hedge against political instability was true, you would expect to see a sudden spike in interest on LocalBitcoins, the planet’s largest peer-to-peer Bitcoin exchange. However, with just US$708 worth of the digital currency changing hands over the last week, clearly, the reality isn’t matching up to the expectations of some.

I shake my head. Coindesk has also joined the Iran geopolitical storyboard to gather some clicks hehehe. Do the storyboards influence the price or does the price create the storyboards?

He wanted the world to use it.

The world can't use it until it's gargantuan and deeply liquid.

Speculation is the quickest way to get the ball rolling if a little alarming and crude at times and only the first step.

Agreed. However not exclusively as a speculative investment for us to hype and pump. My criticism is towards some of the people behind the bitcoin news media who treat speculation as if it is the only function for bitcoin.
5770  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The Essential NFL Thread 🏈🏈 - new poll every week on: January 07, 2020, 01:27:31 AM
@DireWolfM14. Hehehe it is ok. I saw it while I was typing.

In any case, I reckon the Patriots lost the game because 2 situations. On the last 2 minutes of the 2nd quarter when they did not stop Derrick Hill's drives and during the 3rd quarter when Julian Edelman dropped the ball.
5771  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Grin Observer - GRN/BTC - Price Movement and Discussion on: January 06, 2020, 04:03:07 AM
What utility does the coin have to make it do otherwise?

However, in the cryptospace, when did the price depend exclusively on a cryptocoin's utility? I reckon all the time if their use as a speculative investment was accepted as a utility hehehehe.

5772  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The Essential NFL Thread 🏈🏈 - new poll every week on: January 06, 2020, 03:20:14 AM
I did not read the lastest posts to avoid the spoilers, however, after the Patriots' loss, I reckon that not betting on +8 might be a mistake. This is the playoffs. Teams will try harder, games will be scored closer.

In any case, I got spoilered by DireWolfM14's post heheheeh. Vikings were also +8?
5773  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-01-04] New crisis in the Middle East: Good for bitcoin, bad for the world on: January 06, 2020, 02:45:09 AM
Is the tension in Iran proven to be the cause of this small pump? What would the bitcoin news media tell us if bitcoin dumps again below $7000?

Could be a coincidence, but it's plausible to believe that this small price was at least partially caused by the Iran news - the timing is there.

Also, how was it good for bitcoin? The price was higher? Do they only care of bitcoin as a speculative investment?

Are you saying that no one should look at Bitcoin as a speculative investment? Maybe that exchanges should be shut down and everyone should do only p2p trades?

Satoshi wanted Bitcoin users to have full freedom, without anyone telling them what to do with their coins.

I am not saying that. However, it appears that many of the people in the cryptospace are very focused only on the price as a measurement for adoption. Did Satoshi want to create a speculative investment to pump?
5774  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] AEON: Cryptonote privacy, efficiency, decentralization, and stability on: January 06, 2020, 01:51:19 AM
Would Aeon used with Tor be untraceable enough to be also a dead end similar to monero if Europol tried every available tool they have?

“Since the suspect used a combination of Tor and [Monero], we could not trace the funds. We could not trace the IP-addresses. Which means, we hit the end of the road,” Jakubcek told audiences.

@TomoV. You should complete the download of the blockchain locally. Are you also certain that you used a remote node?

In any case, open an issue on github and open a thread on /r/aeon on reddit.
5777  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Grin | PoW Mining | Electronic transactions for all. Community driven. on: January 05, 2020, 03:08:17 AM
After reading through am interested to see what comes out of this project. Hoping it succeeds.

It will succeed and I reckon might be more sustainable far longer than most of the proof of work coins in the cryptospace. This has something to do with grin's monetary policy hehehe.
5778  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XRP] Ripple Speculation on: January 04, 2020, 02:03:05 AM
Poor guy 'mich' is the only one left holding the bag of shit and posting here.

RIP hero

I shake my head, what happened? Did you dump hehehe? Did we not argue in this thread about Ripple's validators being centralized by the company and you defended it or was it someone else?
5779  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: January 04, 2020, 01:46:07 AM
Looking at this shoulders and muscles for McGregor I cant think of anything else but him using some kind of steroids.
I do hope they will be testing them before the match.

Or he could have focused more on shoulder and biceps/triceps during his training with metal  Cheesy Or this was achieved due to lots of wrestle training Smiley

From I cannot see the transformation to I can see the use of steroids hehehe.

In any case, @TopTort777, agreed that this new bulked Conor might be from wrestling. I speculate that we might see a different fighting style from him with more wrestling included similar to GSP style?
5780  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple is less decentralized than BTC and ETH, but that’s not necessarily bad on: January 04, 2020, 01:27:34 AM
I do not see the biggest problem in a centralization, thanks to centralization they can provide much faster transactions (high TPS). But the problem is in a big supply and in a big inflation rate - team continously unlocking new and new coins.

However, centralization is not the problem. The problem is in Ripple promoting their platform as decentralized but it is not. Would this not make it appear like a scam?
