5681  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-01-30] Bitcoin Has Lost Steam. But Criminals Still Love It. on: January 31, 2020, 01:24:23 AM
bbc.reporter, why do you post such stupid news? "Bitcoin Has Lost Steam" is an incredibly stupid title given that it has increased its price by almost $3000 in the last month and a half (around $6500 in December 2019), and all this with some alleged research based on first three months of 2019?

The journalist who wrote the article is clearly on a mission to portray Bitocin as something only criminals use, so are we all criminals in this forum because of the fact that we use BTC? It's really amazing that they portray us as criminals, and as environmental destroyers when it is so far from the truth.

Agreed on the price. He should say last 2 years, however that is not the main story.

I disagree that he was on a mission to portray bitcoin as a criminal's coin. He based his article on data from Chainalysis.

https://blog.chainalysis.com/reports/darknet-markets-cryptocurrency-2019

Also, I reckon that it should be embraced no matter how they portray it. Unregulated transactions is where bitcoin gets part of its value.

Khabib is also a huge superstar in the Middle East and Russia and it will be the biggest fight in history if they rematched and asking for 100 million is not a big deal.
Yeah! Asking for a 100 million is not that huge compare to Dana's possible profit in this upcoming rematch if will be granted Grin. And besides, Khabib is the current reigning champ so we can say that he is on the right position of doing so. I just hope that he will beat El Cucuy on his upcoming match to retain his pride hahaha because if not then Tony will definitely outshine him and talks about Tony vs McGregor might be included on Dana's plan Cheesy.

However, Khabib is not a big superstar similar to Conor. I reckon if Khabib's next fight was not versus El Cucuy, it might not be as big as Conor's comeback fight versus Cowboy.

Also $100m only for Khabib? That is too much. He is not a personality like Floyd Money Mayweather hehehe.

@smooth @stoffu. I reckon Aeon cannot follow and copy this recent development from Monero anymore.

I reckon that more public nodes might be needed to meet the demand if we are lucky enough to have more investors, adopters in the next bull market.
5684  Bitcoin / Press / [2020-01-30] Bitcoin Has Lost Steam. But Criminals Still Love It. on: January 30, 2020, 02:21:55 AM
I was disappointed when some people were annoyed when I said that we should embrace bitcoin's importance as a tool that we can use for transactions that the regulators do not want us to do. Ignoring this is also ignoring one of its most important applications and value gaining properties.

Good news. No one can stop this.

The last few months have not been good for Bitcoin. The value of the digital tokens has steadily dropped. Bitcoin trading on cryptocurrency exchanges has slowed. And using Bitcoin to buy legal items? That has also dropped.

But one corner of the Bitcoin economy is still going strong: the sale of illegal drugs and other types of lawbreaking.

The amount of cryptocurrency spent on so-called dark net markets, where stolen credit card information and a wide array of illegal drugs can be purchased with Bitcoin, rose 60 percent to reach a new high of $601 million in the last three months of 2019, according to data released Tuesday by Chainalysis, a firm that tracks every Bitcoin transaction and serves as an adviser to an array of government authorities.

It appears that there is a legal team that an influential bitcoiner has approval for hehe. Was Liebowitz really good in the Kleiman case? Should Bitfinex be worried? I did not follow the Kleiman v. Wright case very closely.

Antonopoulos Writes to Judge Vouching for Law Team Suing Bitfinex for BTC Manipulation

One of the biggest names in crypto has joined in an ongoing argument about who will lead the class-action suit against Bitfinex and its affiliates over alleged market manipulation leading to Bitcoin’s 2017 bull run.

Amid a flurry of filings seeking to lead the class, Andreas Antonopoulos has come out in support of the legal team of Liebowitz, filing an affidavit on Jan. 27 vouching for the expertise of the team — which Antonopoulos has seen in action on the Kleiman v. Wright case.

Liebowitz’s representation includes a laundry list of attorneys from three separate firms, but Antonopoulos specifically commended Kyle Roche of Roche Cyrulnik Freedman as the reason the firm should lead the proceedings. Before calling the firm “uniquely qualified to represent members of the class,” Antonopoulos wrote:

“In the Kleiman matter, Mr. Roche has repeatedly demonstrated an understanding of the technical and functional properties of bitcoin, cryptocurrencies, blockchain, and their underlying cryptographic principles superior to many other attorneys.”

@tyKiwanuka. Nice promo. The first touchdown scorer jersey no. might be fun for everyone in this thread hehehe. Make the guesses exact jersey no., however. Similar to micgoosens bitcoin price guessing contest.

The lawsuit is isolated to the 2017 incident, however. If they wanted to implicate people from another incident, I reckon the Mtgox bot pump should be the best incident to look. Many of today's famous bitcoin pumper maximalists were buying on 2013 - 2014 hehehe.
5688  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-01-16] Chainalysis traced $2.8 billion crime bitcoin sent to Binance Huobi on: January 29, 2020, 03:10:12 AM
Yes, you are making a similar argument as me that we should acknowledge and embrace bitcoin's use by criminals. It is a part of what gives its value. Good on us hehehe.

In any case, part of my criticism is to those people who shout for no regulation and freedom, however, shout for the SEC to catch ICOs because they are unregulated and illegal securities.
5689  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Grin Observer - GRN/BTC - Price Movement and Discussion on: January 28, 2020, 01:57:06 AM
@Cryptotourist. Agreed. It is a manipulation game which Grin's monetary policy is pursuing to end. The development team has created it this way to reduce the treatment of the currency as a speculative investment and also to reduce the early adopter advantage.

I had to rub my eyes and read the highlighted sentences 3 times, I shook my head and rubbed my eyes again before reading it for another time.

In any case, support Bitfinex. We do not have a choice hehehehe.

The four class-action suits against Bitfinex, Tether and parent company iFinex over alleged market manipulation leading to Bitcoin’s (BTC) 2017 bull market have been consolidated — with implications for every BTC buyer since April 2017.

Per an order dated Jan. 24 and filed Jan. 27 from Judge Failla of the court of the Southern District of New York (SDNY), four complaints have been consolidated. Plaintiffs Leibowitz, Young, Faubus and Ebanks — as well as assorted sub-listed parties in each of those cases — will now have their cases heard jointly.

The class-action suits against iFinex and its daughter companies crypto exchange Bitfinex and stablecoin operator Tether allege that those companies worked together to create Bitcoin’s infamous price bubble at the end of 2017. These complaints followed similar research that appeared this summer.

The potential class pool for these cases is massive, potentially including anyone who has bought Bitcoin since April.

5691  Bitcoin / Press / [2020-01-28] Your Bitcoin Should Be Seized to Pay for Climate Reparations on: January 28, 2020, 12:40:30 AM
Agreed if she campaigns for seizure of the oil companies and car companies profits also. They have been responsible for the destruction of the environment for years before the first coin in the cryptospace.

Bitcoin uses a gargantuan amount of electric power, which rubs climate activists the wrong way. Some of them want to go to extreme lengths and confiscate your coins to pay for the alleged damage that has been done to the environment.

During a heated Twitter debate, security researcher Eleanor Saitta came up with a wild idea to seize the holdings of everyone who works with Bitcoin in 2020. In fact, she is convinced that all your assets, including historical earnings, should be confiscated to pay for "climate reparations."

@Thekool1s. The fiat supporters do not care because they do not treat their currency similar to a religion. Elon Musk was correct by telling us that we should acknowledge cryptocoin technology for illegal purposes. I reckon that we should embrace it.

However, we might have lost our motivation for disruption and replaced it with want of legitimization and regulation because it might pump the price.
5693  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Grin Observer - GRN/BTC - Price Movement and Discussion on: January 27, 2020, 04:11:33 AM
I'd love to hear more about stable coin Grin.

When unstable? Grin

You might jump from a cliff again hehe. Its monetary policy will be the reason why Grin's price will be more stable and less volatile.

If you wanted unstable, hold the coins with limited supply.

If Conor McGregor Wants His Rematch With Khabib Nurmagomedov, It’ll Cost the UFC $100 Million

Khabib’s father, who holds huge influence over the Dagestani UFC champion, discussed a potential match this week. Speaking to Russian news outlet RIA Novosti Nurmagomedov Snr named his son’s price to entertain the Irishman once more.

$100 million.

https://www.ccn.com/conor-mcgregor-rematch-with-khabib-nurmagomedov-cost-ufc-100-million/

Other than the father's absurd demands on money, he also demands something more absurd from Floyd. 12th round of boxing metch should be in MMA. I reckon that boxing metch should be made versus Conor!

Speaking to TASS.ru, Khabib’s father, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, said a bout between his son and Mayweather could come to fruition under one condition (transcription via Google Translate).

“Mayweather has statistics on fights of 50 wins and zero losses, he is the greatest in boxing and he wants to fight with the same champion who did not lose a single fight, with Khabib, everything is fine, but now we have Tony Ferguson on the line. We said a long time ago: let us finish with Tony, after that we will work with [the team of Ukrainian boxer Vasily] Lomachenko for six months, then there will be a boxing fight. We offer any day anywhere, with only one condition: 11 rounds in boxing and one in mixed martial arts (MMA).

5695  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Oscar Awards 2020 betting on: January 27, 2020, 03:04:55 AM
Leo already got his oscar after so long and he has one, hell academy maybe just gave him one so people would shut up because I honestly think that he played in much better movies that he didn't won any.

It's not just about whether he played in better movies when he didn't win Oscar (tbh for me Revenant is better than Aviator, Wolf of the Wall Street and Blood Diamond), what it matters is competition too. In 2004, Jamie Foxx was simply better in the "Ray". In 2007, Forrest Whitaker won, but it was kinda weak year, and wouldn't have been mistake if Leo won, or any other actor for that matter. In 2014 McConaughey kicked ass, no one else had any chance.
Imho, in 2015 that Oscar he won was well deserved, and not a compenstaion, despite what some people were talking. He did a good job there, and competition wasn't too tough either (i liked Fassbender in Steve Jobs , i think he also did a good job there.
And this  year, it will be between Phoenix and Driver,  and as long as Academy chooses one of those two, they won't miss.

This man is a certified couch potato. He knows his movies hehehe!

What would be your bets on the best costume design, best visual effects and best original score?
5696  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [2020-01-25] Coinbase's Bitcoin Holdings Could Surpass 1 Million BTC Next Month on: January 27, 2020, 02:28:48 AM
Hey,at least it's voluntary. For now.

Interested to know how much is institutional money and how much is minnows.

Maybe some day soon Brian coinbase will actually admit that bitcoin isn't shit since he is responsible for 5% of all of it. He's even managed to write the word a couple of times recently.

I am certain he knows that it is not shit. However, similar to the rest of us bagholders, he must pump the altcoins that he and his people have bought and sometimes involved in as part of the board of advisors hehehe.
5697  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-01-23] Exchange hacks on the rise on: January 27, 2020, 01:55:56 AM
to be fair part of the increase in the amount stolen is because of bitcoin price rise. for example if 1 bitcoin was stolen in 2014 it would have been ~$300 but if it is stolen today it is worth ~$8000k.
additionally part of it is because of the large number of shitcoins that were  created in 2017 and were dumping in 2017 and 2018. people had to go to exchanges to dump their shitty tokens so they transferred a lot of funds to exchanges and when the exchange is hacked (or scams its users and runs away) a larger amount of money is lost.

Agreed. Also, the increase of the no. of attacks and hacks should clearly be more concerning than total amount stolen and it should be approached more as a computer security problem, I reckon.
5698  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Conor McGregor vs Manny Pacquiao on: January 26, 2020, 02:26:48 AM
I reckon that this might have more chance and possibility to become real than Conor versus Pacman or Conor versus Floyd rematch. Does Bob Arum not always gets what he wants hehehe?

Arum Wants Crawford-McGregor In Octagon & Boxing Ring

Bob Arum has turned to mixed martial arts in his quest to find an appealing opponent for Terence Crawford.

Arum told ESPN.com on Wednesday that he would like to make a two-fight deal for Crawford to fight UFC superstar Conor McGregor. According to Arum, one of those fights would be a boxing match and the other would be an MMA match.

Source https://www.boxingscene.com/arum-wants-crawford-mcgregor-octagon-boxing-ring--146126

Arum is now absorbed by this new trend of just making money regardless of how the fight would actually turn out. If he pursues this crazy fight, he is also kind of crazy.

And I think Conor will look more terrible against Crawford than against Mayweather.

Conor already will look terrible wearing the big boxing shorts and the boots hehehehe. However, Conor will also have the chance to make Terrence Crawford look terrible in the octagon hehehe.
5699  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Oscar Awards 2020 betting on: January 26, 2020, 01:49:48 AM
Leo already got his oscar after so long and he has one, hell academy maybe just gave him one so people would shut up because I honestly think that he played in much better movies that he didn't won any. Joaquin Phoneix (dude has the coolest name ever) is the favorites in all sportsbooks for a reason, dude played in basically the most oscar movie ever oscared in oscars history, he will 100% get it for sure without a doubt. I have literally seen 1.01 for his win as odds, the worst I have seen was 1.20, that literally means he will get it without a doubt.

However, if we had to really pick anything else, I would still pick Adam Driver over Leo, leo was good and all but Adam Driver literally played his role out of park so good, for a dude who was a Marine while others worked on their theatre, he sure is better than most of the competition.

Sometimes it becomes which nominee was more popular among his peers for that given year, not how good his or her performance was in the film. In the best actor category, I reckon the winner is chosen by members of the academy who are also actors.
5700  Economy / Speculation / Re: Speculating with Tom Lee on: January 25, 2020, 01:47:35 AM

Has Tom Lee every speculated what would happen if Craig Wright actually was part of the Tulip Trust and get the private keys to the 'supposed' billions in BTC development coins?

No, however, I am certain that he will be very bullish hhehehhee.

In any case, why do I have a feeling that he and his clients are selling again? He makes bullish predictions on CNBC, bitcoin is red.

Bitcoin bull Thomas Lee, head of research at Fundstrat Global Advisors, is predicting another good year for the world’s most dominant cryptocurrency.

Lee argues,

“This is bullish for Bitcoin. And then with geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, that’s good for crypto. So, there should be a lot of tailwinds. We’re getting a lot more interest in it as well from our clients.”
