5921  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-11-27] One Reason People Aren’t Paying With Bitcoin: Taxes on: November 28, 2019, 01:11:54 AM
Alongside waiting for a less rainy day, the prime reason no one spends it is because hardly anyone earns in it. If that ever changes then I would expect much more flow. It can be a right grind buying it and no one buys something to buy something else. If you have it arriving in your wallet every week that makes for a rather different mind set.

I disagree. Bitcoin's price volatility, the community's hodl mentality and bitcoin's monetary policy are certainly making many people spend their coins more sparingly. Give people bitcoins for nothing and I reckon they will not spend most of it if they knew what it is hehe.
5922  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: [NEWS] Binance Shanghai Office Reportedly Shut Down after Local Police Raid on: November 27, 2019, 03:17:29 AM
Outsourcing doesn't mean there are already shady actions. What's wrong with the cutting of expenses?

Yes, and i understand your point,

But the whole point here is if Cz lied when he said that Binance had no office in Shangai,
So let say it was not directly Binance, it was an office from an outsource company owned by someone else, but the workers are doing work for Binance.
Example, someone from Binance form a company in China, give a different name, and hire workers, to work for Binance, doing support, social media, marketing, who knows.
We already seen evidence, on Chinese Tv, not only that article from The Block.
And i am sure that China has laws to protect their citizens from exploitation from foreign companies.

I reckon Binance and the Block have bended the truth to serve their own needs. Binance wanted to protect itself from FUD while the Block wanted to publish a clickbait article for more clicks hehehe.

@stompix. Similar to ICO listings. The investors who bought some shares directly from the company before listing day are dumping some of them because it is yielding profit hehe.
5924  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-11-26] China Shuts Over 100 Crypto Exchanges on: November 27, 2019, 02:34:23 AM
I well remember Chinageddon in 2014. What amazed me about that was it was impossible to get any sense of what was actually going on. I don't think it ever arrived. There are however many tens or hundreds of thousands of Chinese users on this very forum and I don't recall any of the selfish pricks telling us a single thing.

I didn't know these 'local exchanges' existed. Or maybe they never did.

There might be nothing to tell hehehe. Also, it would only be fud if despite Chinageddon since 2014 and bitcoin went to $20k on 2017.
5925  Bitcoin / Press / [2019-11-27] One Reason People Aren’t Paying With Bitcoin: Taxes on: November 27, 2019, 01:59:07 AM
The author of this article might think that taxes is one reason, however, it is not the main reason. The main reason is most people only use bitcoin for holding and speculation because of its moon math characteristic. We should not be in denial about this.

However, it is a good article about the absurdity of taxation in the cryptospace.

Today, almost no one is using Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies for everyday payments. There are a few different reasons for this, including Bitcoin’s price volatility, but that’s far from the only problem. While Bitcoin has become a more stable store of value over time, the tax implications of using Bitcoin for payments remain an impediment to widespread use.

While some Bitcoin enthusiasts have no issue with breaking or bending the law to avoid capital gains taxes on cryptocurrency payments, the mainstream consumer does not necessarily want to take that kind of risk. This issue around capital gains taxes on Bitcoin payments was debated by Bitrefill CEO Sergej Kotliar and ShapeShift CEO Erik Voorhees at the Bitcoin 2019 conference over the summer.

But it’s not just about willingness to play by the rules. Even those who are perfectly willing to pay taxes on Bitcoin payments are faced with headaches and complicated accounting just to make sure they aren’t breaking the law.

5926  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The Essential NFL Thread 🏈🏈 - new poll every week on: November 26, 2019, 01:48:43 AM

...

I think he's going to loose the rest of the year. There seems to be no-one giving him the benefit of the doubt for anything like maybe responding to a racial slur or some other mitigating type circumstance....

Called it first.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x-4NtXDhMpY

Quote
Myles Garrett accuses Mason Rudolph of using a racial slur, which Rudolph denies | NFL Live
And now we need to give the benefit of the doubt to Rudolph, we know that many lawyers are not above lying when it comes to represent their clients and playing the race card is a very easy way to try to defend what Garrett did, unless evidence appears corroborating this information then we need to assume Rudolph is innocent, I have my doubts this actually happened because if it was true then Garrett would have revealed this information immediately as a justification for his behaviour after the game and he did not.

BTW your personal text is very fitting. Grin

Rudolph was fined $50k so I think they bought Garrett's accusation of it happening on the field.
Now if he was just mic'd up.

The NFL already declared that they found nothing on Rudolph. There was an article about it. Myles Garret might have only made a desperate move to take Rudolph with him hehehe.

@ralle14. Lamar MVP hehehe. It might be a close one with him and Russ Wilson.
5927  Bitcoin / Press / [2019-11-26] China Shuts Over 100 Crypto Exchanges on: November 26, 2019, 01:34:09 AM
I shake my head. Is this finally real or fud? I have not read any complaints from Chinese users about their coins locked in an exchange because they have abruptly exited from China.

China has been making very significant headlines for over a month now, with the government making several moves and pronouncements regarding cryptocurrency and blockchain technology in general. A very interesting one is, however, China’s decision to close down all digital currency exchanges in the country.

It is not news that while China is very much in support of blockchain technology, the country is quite averse to cryptocurrencies specifically, and has spent some time cracking down on the sector.

Now, it would seem like authorities have taken this crackdown a notch higher according to a recent tweet from a Chinese blockchain firm, CnLedger, which quoted a report from the People’s Bank of China (PBoC). The tweet said:

“Just in: ‘The 173 Chinese virtual-currency trading and token issuing platforms have all exited without risk”, from PBoC’s newly released China Financial Stability Report (2019).”

5928  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Deontay Wilder Vs. Luis Ortiz II on: November 25, 2019, 04:27:07 AM
@btc_angela. A verbal agreement is not as good anymore. It will take many more months of negotiations before they can honor their verbal agreement to fight as early as 2021 hehehe.

In any case, the skeptical me thinks that Deontay Wilder bet on the over 6.5 and waited for the 7th round to knock out Ortiz hehehehehe.
5929  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price drop but institutional investors on Bakkt are buying like crazy! on: November 25, 2019, 04:03:45 AM
However, some hedge funds are shorting CME bitcoin futures to hedge out risk from their exposure on bitcoins. This is the game they play similar to the punters of sportsbetting on getting tips and news from each other and use it.

They do not care about the cryptospace.

Some hedge funders out there appear to have made a stronger bet on the short side of the CME bitcoin futures market over the past week, data from the Commodities Futures Trading Commission shows.

As per a research report by The Block's Ryan Todd, hedge funds were overwhelmingly short during the week of November 12th compared to the sell-side, asset managers, and other groups. Specifically, net short positioning (Short OI - Long OI) among hedge funds that trade the CME bitcoin product was at an all time high over the last two weeks of COT report prints.

To be sure, the data only shows net positioning of CME bitcoin futures; funds could still be exposed to the underlying spot on the long side and using bitcoin futures to hedge out risk.

@Globb0. That was not the issue. Was something broken in Grin similar to what the Dragonfly researcher was telling everyone? It was clickbait.
5931  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: [NEWS] Binance Shanghai Office Reportedly Shut Down after Local Police Raid on: November 25, 2019, 03:11:11 AM
@estenity. It might be connected to Chinese regulators' visits to Binance's offices. Binance might have decided to leave and chosen to continue listing any cryptocoin they want than stay under the control of China.

If not fud, I reckon any exchange left in China will die because of regulatory strangulation.
5932  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [NEWS] Gatehub was hacked again on: November 24, 2019, 01:42:27 AM
@Furryball. DEX are good for small buyers and sellers, however, for big traders, no. The prices they get are very bad compared to centralized exchanges.
5933  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: [NEWS] Binance Shanghai Office Reportedly Shut Down after Local Police Raid on: November 24, 2019, 01:25:57 AM
After reading at the cointelegraph Binance denied the news and so did a large Korean exchange Bithumb

bithumb quashes shanghai office closure rumors after binance denial.

I think why Bithumb spoke up on this rumors because they thought rumors like this could have an impact on their service.
Of course, any rumors would have significant impact into their service.I thought this news was true about the raid up and thanks for sharing up yet i wasnt expecting that it turns out to be a false news instead. It did really affect he market as we all know that even how simple it is but if it do connects on big exchange or players of this market would really have high chances of negative effects.

It not too obvious that they do really try make the price down. Cheesy
Erff, I'm about to believe about this news and thinking this could be the reason of sudden dump but it seems many got alarmed more than those who hold.

Okay, so what's up with this fake news? Why they spread this to think people could still find out that it's just a fake. They just messing their selves, really.

It was not fake news. It was another example of bitcoin journalists creating clickbait titles and sensationalized  stories to attract more readers. The Block have retracted the word raid from the title and have updated their article.

Also, Block was not wrong about Binance and their offices in Shanghai that were visited by the authorities. Yes they had 2 offices. However, the damage is done.

waiting for $0.50 hehehe.

Waiting for $0.50, that might never really happen.  Maybe better take few prices and buy part of it then. Like 1/3 at $1, 1/3 at $0.5 and 1/3 at $0.25.

I did not try to argue with this because the pump made it appear that you might be right. We always forget the certain dump, however. $0.50 is back on the schedule for December hehehe.
5935  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2019-2020 betting on: November 23, 2019, 03:27:49 AM
@Viscore. Save your bets for the good games tomorrow hehehe. Playoff teams, Rockets versus the Clippers and the Nuggets versus the Celtics.
Good idea since celtics lost in ot to the clippers so they will be seeking revenge and the rockets will be needing to upset with only scoring 95 against the nuggets.
The games last night were predictable anyone having bucks with the over and pelicans mopping up with the fading suns. Cool

Celtics also lost versus the Clippers on overtime and on the road. They might be tired and lose their next game versus another strong team.

My bets are on all -4.5 on the Heat, the Nuggets, the Lakers and the Clippers hehe.
5936  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2019-11-21 CNBC - Why Bitcoin Fund’s SEC filing may be a big crypto breakthrough on: November 23, 2019, 12:48:28 AM
Ugh.  It's going to be rejected.  Calling it now.

and what it means for investors wanting to get involved in digital assets.

It means nothing other than more baseless hype.  It's not "needed", but some people like to think it is, because they believe it will raise prices.  Institutional investors have enough markets to fraudulently manipulate, they don't need another one.

Agreed. I am also skeptical. Also, anything out of CNBC appears to be more for promotional purposes than for anything else. I remember Brian Kelly teaching everyone how to buy XRP on Poloniex for more than $1.00 each before it was dumped hehehe.
5937  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / [NEWS] Ripple Co-founder Chris Larsen responds to scathing report on: November 23, 2019, 12:18:39 AM
There might be inaccuracies in Messari's report, however, that does not remove the real agenda behind setting up a foundation. Tax savings on estate, income tax savings, capital gains tax savings. Also, the assets in the foundation are under Chris Larsen's control.

Wealthy people have been doing this scheme to avoid taxes for many years. Chris Larsen should keep quiet.

A recent report published by Messari claimed that Ripple is using its affiliated charity foundations as a shelter for corporate and executive taxes. The report itself cited an Elliptic report which tied XRP to illicit activity worth $400 million. Messari added that Ripple is obfuscating the fact that the 2.2 billion XRP it counts as circulating supply are currently locked in long-term restricted selling agreements. It said,

“According to the Foundation’s (public) Form 990, during its fiscal year 2018 (year ended April 30, 2018), the Ripple Foundation for Financial Innovation (nee RippleWorks), the entity affiliated with Ripple and its co-founder Chris Larsen, granted exactly $0 to other charities out of a staggering $1.2 billion AUM.”

Chris Larsen, Co-founder and Executive Chairman at Ripple, was quick to respond to the report, with Larsen claiming that the Messari report contained inaccuracies, adding that RippleWorks had donated over $25 million to support incredible social ventures. Alongside a link to RippleWorks’ portfolio, Larsen said,

“Doug Galen and I first set up RippleWorks to be an operating foundation, meaning we supported charitable work with our projects program vs. giving money.”

5939  Economy / Speculation / Re: Peter Schiff speculation, bitcoin will never hit $50k on: November 22, 2019, 03:57:05 AM
Peter Schiff is feasting on bitcoin's dump down to $7600 similar to a forum cave troll hehe. In any case, it is fine to be a bitcoin bear, however, Peter Schiff should try to be credible about it. Dumping to $1000 might be the death dump for miners. This is impossible, I reckon.

GOLD BUG SCHIFF CLINGS TO $2,000-$1,000 PREDICTION

Peter Schiff, gold bug and traditional investor advisor, sees an ominous picture in the current slide. Without a relief rally closer to $9,000, bitcoin may continue downward to as low as $1,000, based on Schiff’s most pessimistic prediction.

@PeterSchiff
#Bitcoin is nearing the neckline of the head-and-shoulders top I pointed out before the Oct 25th 40% pump. The right shoulder is now shrugged and the neckline slanted and parallel to the shoulders. If it breaks the price objective for the dump is $1,000 to complete the pattern.

5940  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / [NEWS] Binance Shanghai Office Reportedly Shut Down after Local Police Raid on: November 22, 2019, 02:20:35 AM
How many other exchanges are presently trading cryptocoins in China? Withdraw your coins to your wallets. I speculate that if this is true, Binance's raid might be the real beginning of China's inquisition on the cryptospace.

image from newlogical.com

Recent reports currently suggest that one of the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchanges, Binance, has had its Shanghai office shutdown causing its many staff members to either work remotely or even completely abandon China and move to Singapore. According to sources familiar with the matter as cited by The Block, there is currently no fully functioning Binance Shanghai anymore.

The cited sources have also added that the office was recently raided by police in the area, for unknown reasons. As such, the office which used to have some of Binance’s most senior management staff, no longer houses them. Today, more than 100 employees who used to work out of Shanghai have now been scattered. It is also said that Binance CEO Changpeng “CZ” Zhao as well as Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) Yi He, have both moved to Singapore already.

The Block has noted that a Binance spokesperson rebuffed news about the raid, stating there is really no China office:

“We don’t have entities in China, most of us work remotely in China.”

Regardless, the spokesperson’s comments seem to run against the existence of certain pictures of a Chinese office that has been seen by The Block, with staff members actually working.
If the incident is true, an interesting tweet from CZ about a month ago may have suggested something like this might happen. CZ tweeted that offices are “old concepts”, probably meaning that Binance might also fall in line.
