5641  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-01-16] Chainalysis traced $2.8 billion crime bitcoin sent to Binance Huobi on: February 11, 2020, 02:08:08 AM
It might be inflated numbers, however, we should know that Chainalysis is not to be underestimated. The blockchain data they collect can be given to the government to use against you.

It started with a $9,000 data software contract for the FBI in 2015.

But just five years later, Chainalysis is now the cryptocurrency-tracing equivalent of Palantir, the data analytics company flush with lucrative government software contracts. Chainalysis is, right now, doing millions of dollars worth of business each year with the U.S. government, dwarfing its competitors in the young industry of blockchain surveillance.

The company is by far Uncle Sam’s leading crypto analysis contractor by spending and has become the go-to firm for 10 federal agencies, departments and bureaus.

Terrible judges!
They ruined several matches including main event.
In my account Reyes won or it was atleast a draw.

I reckon Jon Jones now has lost 2 fights in a row hehehe. Also, agreed! This is very embarassing for the sport.
5643  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum 2.0 delays thread on: February 10, 2020, 01:13:10 AM
Does Ethereum 2.0 needs approval too from SEC just like how Bitcoin ETF is?

I still don't understand why this is taking too long.
I thought it was really January of 2020 where they will start it.

There was already a news article where someone from SEC mentioned that coins issued in Ethereum 2.0 might be an illegal security.

Source https://beincrypto.com/ethereum-2-0-proof-of-stake-could-be-classified-as-a-security-says-cftc-chairman/

However, this is not the cause of this delay and the other coming delays. Difficulty of deployment will be the cause.

@Febo @Hueristic. I have forgotten that stoffu already explained about this issue. Miners mine on a higher hashrate in RandomX because it is faster to compute than cryptonight.

5645  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] AEON: Cryptonote privacy, efficiency, decentralization, and stability on: February 10, 2020, 12:34:10 AM
@smooth. Whether ASICs inevitably lead to a cartel is debatable.

However, a cryptocoin that welcomes Asics and a monetary policy with an infinite supply might be more at risk to coin distribution manipulation by miners than cryptocoins that halves issuance.

Finally whether ASIC resistance is futile is also debatable.

Aeon might also have made the wrong decision on changing to K12?
5646  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Ethereum 2.0 delays thread on: February 08, 2020, 03:43:04 AM
Similar to the bitcoin ETF series of delays, I have already speculated that Ethereum 2.0 might have its own series of delays. This news article might be the beginning of one report of many.

‘95% Confidence’: Ethereum Developers Pencil In July 2020 for Eth 2.0 Launch

Ethereum’s next system-wide upgrade, Eth 2.0, won’t launch in Q2 2020 as expected, but researchers remain confident the initial network parameters will deploy in 2020. Anything less would be considered a “failure,” they said

5647  Economy / Speculation / Buy only bitcoin or take chances in altcoin casino? on: February 08, 2020, 02:10:12 AM
A simple poll to know if every person in this speculation subforum has a similar attitude in trading and investment as they had on 2016 and 2017.

The bullish sentiment is back, and traders have been placing their allocations on their favorite blockchain projects. The question on most investor’s minds is which coin will have the biggest payoff? Is it Bitcoin, the largest coin by market cap, or smaller cap Altcoins?

5648  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: FinCen Deputy Director remarks on Cryptocurrency on: February 08, 2020, 01:28:25 AM
Based on what the Deputy Director says, I interpret it that there will be full regulations as far as crypto-currencies goes. It will be implemented and will be sweep. Although each countries has it's own set of regulatory framework, but with this statement, we might see a single governing laws.

Thoughts?

I don't think he's alluding to that. The Deputy Director was just talking tough.

FinCEN already published pretty sweeping guidance on VASPs last year. I believe it was the first time since 2013 that they had done so. Aside from the occasional enforcement action, I don't expect to hear anything new from them anytime soon.

Yep, they just wanted to send the message again and to reiterate their stance and action on cryptocurrency, from exchanges to Bitcoin ATM's. So doesn't surprised me at all, the thing is, as regulations are already set in full motion already.

It might also not be in full motion, however. Exchanges and other services might add more KYC from users because they are ordered by the regulators.

I predict that they will begin asking for income tax statements, proof of employment and other employment information. The cryptospace might not be a place for the unemployed and the unbanked in a few years hehehe.
5649  Bitcoin / Press / [2020-02-08] Police Shuts Down Bitcoin Mine Over Coronavirus on: February 08, 2020, 12:58:22 AM
Where are those who are telling everyone that the corona virus will be good for bitcoin? Any world crisis creating event will never be good for anything. Those people creating those types of storyboards only want a pump.

A huge bitcoin mine has been shut down in China in an attempt to contain the Coronavirus outbreak that has now reached 28,000 confirmed cases in China.

Jiang Zhuoer, founder of bitcoin mining pool BTC.Top, revealed the forced shutdown on Tuesday, stating according to a very rough translation:

“Epidemic prevention in some places is already a mess. I have a mine in a remote suburb. The police came to force all the mining authorities and said that they would not resume work.

As infection numbers increase, however, it seems more and more measures are being taken to the point authorities there are now closing down remote mining farms, like the one pictured above.

Zhuoer said this is just one of many of his farms, but he appears concerned other premises might close too, stating:

“If we go on like this, most of the people (especially the laboring people in the front line) will have to die of poverty without suffering from the virus.”

5650  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: FinCen Deputy Director remarks on Cryptocurrency on: February 07, 2020, 01:55:17 AM
@TravelMug. I speculate that there will be more unwanted and stricter KYC demanded on users. Exchanges and other services are the chokepoint from the cryptospace to the fiatspace and vice versa. They will certainly do more choking.
5651  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] AEON: Cryptonote privacy, efficiency, decentralization, and stability on: February 07, 2020, 01:38:59 AM
@smooth. You have been one of the oldest developers of altcoin projects in the cryptospace. What is your view on infinite inflation and the welcoming of Asics for a cryptocoin? Would it not end similar to the diamond market where miners agree to hold supply to create artificial scarcity and manipulate the cryptocoin's price?

I also talked to tromp about this.

~
Indeed, McGregor must climb from bottom to top before facing the camp once again. Well, that's good for him anyway to keep his fire burning Cheesy. The feeling of being an underdog is the best fuel for him to grind more (and I hope not only on striking but now mainly on ground lol). I also don't think beating Cowboy is enough for him to get a title shot.~
He said so himself that he isn't there yet during his octagon interview after he KO'd Cowboy. That statement alone suggests that he is extremely motivated to get back into the top spot. Aside from the record of knocking out guys in three different divisions, I think he is also trying to be a three division champion. All he needs is one or two more fights for WW title contention.

~
Khabib might not be interested in the rematch as he defeated Conor without a shadow of doubt but i am expecting them to rematch next year or the year end card.
Khabib isn't interested but his father is. The old man means business and even talks about getting Mayweather.

I reckon that Conor should make him interested. Fight Justin Gaethje on lightweight or welterweight and then fight Jorge Masvidal on welterweight. A victory on Jorge would light his star brighter and cause Khabib to be very jealous and fight hehehhe.

@tyKiwanuka. What are your best recommendations for books to read to become a better gambler on sportsbetting and other gambling games?

Also, when will you start your own tipster thread hehehe?

@rdbase. Nitrogensports, Cloudbet and sportsbet.io offer odds for the Oscar Awards every year.

In any case, I already created a thread for this. See everyone there hehehee!

@Hueristic. I thought that was a joke. You might be correct, however hehehe. Monero's hashrate has already risen to more than double in 2 months. That might be the first sign that Asics are back again.
5656  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The Essential NFL Thread 🏈🏈 - new poll every week on: February 06, 2020, 03:43:28 AM
..

What would Dana white know that everyone else doesnt know?  He has as good as chance of playing in Las Vegas as he does anywhere else that doesnt have a star qb or young qb.  My guess is that the patriots pay him to stay, who else is patriots gonna get in place of him.  Draft a high pick young qb and have him learn a year under the goat

Yup, that decision was made when they traded Garoppolo to SF.

You are right. From this news article, it is more clear that Tom Brady will stay. However, other articles have speculated that the 49ers will cut Jimmy Garopollo. Would 49'ers want the 42 year old quarterback hehehe?

Tom Brady plans to lead his team to Super Bowl LV, but he’s not saying which team he thinks he’ll lead there.

Brady posted in his Instagram stories that he plans to be at the next Super Bowl, but after wearing a blazer at this year’s Super Bowl where he was honored as one of the Top 100 players in NFL history, he said he’ll be in uniform next year.

I have seen a crazy video on Youtube and that is Saudi Arabia has offered $100 Million Dollar for Khabib Nurmagomedov to fight Connor McGregor or Floyd Mayweather on a fight, I know that this could be a different story but I am shocked that Saudis would want to see a fight and is offering something Million Dollar Money to see this fight, I know that the UFC 249 is on April Versus Nurmagomedov and Ferguson but I really can't wait to see that in action, plus many news on the video about the fight of Jon Jones VS Dominick Reyes, plus Masvidal is getting personal.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UD45aXJ2b6Y

Khabib already answered. He does not want to fight Conor for any price. I reckon Conor should prove his greatness again before he can make Khabib look at him hehehe. I am the most loyal Conor fan, however, the fight versus Cowboy is nothing to make him rematch Khabib.

Well, in a recent interview when asked about the rematch with Conor for 100 million dollars, Khabib laughed and said:

“Why do I need that kind of money. There are so many organizations for example, there is not only football for the blind, there are Sambo and other sports. Let [UFC] give it to them, if they don’t know what to do with the money. But giving me $100 million for me to beat up that idiot again? I don’t think it’s rational.”

5659  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Conor McGregor vs Manny Pacquiao on: February 06, 2020, 02:27:05 AM
@rodskee. The sports media is silent because there might not be new developments in their negotiations. However, it is already known that the 2 teams are talking.

I reckon lock this thread and wait.
5660  Other / Meta / Re: 'Grin' - The first altcoin with accepted from Bitcointalk? on: February 05, 2020, 03:16:14 AM
It's a coin being used as a test-bed for MimbleWimble i.e. for Bitcoin tech. Nothing else nothing more.

It has other features that might benefit itself differently than bitcoin. This is arguable, however, Grin's monetary policy can be viewed as a trial on longterm sustainable mining.
