6181  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-09-16] Darkweb criminals launder cash for bitcoin at pennies for dollar on: September 17, 2019, 04:12:27 AM
@1Referee. The darkweb attracts the scummiest entities, however, who said that the banking system is not run by the scummiest entities also hehehe.

The people are not afraid of the men who fund wars that create debt to make the banks richer. The harmless bankers.
6182  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Grin Observer - GRN/BTC - Price Movement and Discussion on: September 17, 2019, 03:28:38 AM
@Febo. 20 years, grin's inflation will be lower than 3%. The price will depend on adoption.

Price always depend on adoption. Adoption is part of a demand and demand pushes price up. Supply are the coins that people want to sell and is pushing price down.  Newly mined coins or emission adds to the supply since a lot miners have to sell to pay their electricity.  Influence of emission of a supply reduce over time.

However, Grin will need adoption more than most of the coins in the cryptospace that depend on deflation, moon math and pumps, I reckon hehehe.
6183  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ❓❓❓ What the heck is Ethereum 2.0 anyway ❓❓❓ on: September 17, 2019, 03:01:15 AM
@lixer. Does Ethereum's reboot to Ethereum 2.0 not make it similar to an admission that 1.0 is an incompetent platform that does not work as promised?

I shake my head on why Vitalik and his team did not use proof of stake from the beginning if that was where Ethereum was going. It would have worked because Ethereum begun as an ICO.
6184  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / [news] Calibra executive: Why Facebook's Libra needs a blockchain on: September 17, 2019, 02:06:54 AM
Can anyone tell me how Facebook's Libra blockchain is not controlled by a single entity without mining? The skeptical me is speculating that Calibra COO Tomer Barel might be adviced by some of the cryptospace's old altcoin scammers hehehe.

Why does Facebook need a new cryptocurrency when it could have used traditional payment networks? asked interviewer Ouriel Ohayon, CEO of ZenGo, a crypto wallet that is building on Libra. Barel said that fiat money is broken and  "that for a currency to be successful, it cannot be controlled by a single entity. This is what blockchain brings us.”

He added that it also needs to be transparent and, crucially, secure—which, he said, are features of a blockchain.

6185  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🏈 Earn 0.005 BTC* on NFL Game of the Week Parlays on Nitrogen Sports 🏈 on: September 16, 2019, 03:01:30 AM

The Emmys Awards 2019 is around the corner.

Are you rooting for your favorite nominated series like Game of Thrones, Killing Eve, and others to win the Outstanding Drama Series award?

Betting lines are open on Nitrogen Sports!

See all Emmys 2019 odds.

I predict that there will be a big disappointment for Game of Thrones fans. It is the big favorite, with very low odds and after the low ratings of season 7, I will never bet for it. I would bet for the 2nd favorite, Killing Eve with odds high on 6.00.
6186  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Grin | PoW Mining | Electronic transactions for all. Community driven. on: September 16, 2019, 02:45:36 AM
@layer1gfx. Grin's monetary policy is also designed to gain wider adoption than bitcoin because of infinite emmission.

Also, I reckon that other characteristics of Grin is correcting the mistakes of other cryptocoins like the mistake of deciding for Asic resistance of Monero, the mistake of nonfungibility in bitcoin and the mistake of a capped supply of most cryptocoins that might limit its distribution and adoption.
6187  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ❓❓❓ What the heck is Ethereum 2.0 anyway ❓❓❓ on: September 16, 2019, 02:22:30 AM
Thank you for this useful news, we are waiting for a small increase in the rate of Ethereum, I wanted to see it in the region of $ 300-500.
It will be able to keep the course in this area, time will tell, but interest in the coin has increased significantly.

You might wait longer than you might expect if you speculate that the increase on the price might be caused by the release of Ethereum 2.0. I predict that Vitalik will do it similar to the SEC's decision on bitcoin's ETF. Many delays and delays of delays hehehe.
6188  Economy / Speculation / Re: Speculating with Tom Lee on: September 16, 2019, 02:09:12 AM
I thought bitcoin was our safe haven for economic depressions. Is Tom Lee's statement also implying that if Trump collapses the American economy, bitcoin will also collapse? I shake my head.

Also, what is a generational buy?

Bitcoin Tends to Follow the S&P500, Says Lee

“The next big catalyst [for Bitcoin] is a decisive breakout in the equity markets,” he told CNBC’s Fast Money on Thursday. “Once equities break to an all-time high, Bitcoin becomes a risk-on asset.” For Lee, it seems clear: as stocks go high, Bitcoin follows.

The increased liquidity from a breakout in the equities market could propel Bitcoin to an all-time high, predicts Lee. As of now, the S&P’s all-time high is around 3,025. If it breaks this, Lee argues that it would be “bullish for Bitcoin.” His analysis is based on precedent: the best years for the S&P 500 have also coincided with the best years for Bitcoin.

The recent lull in Bitcoin’s price movements can also be explained in this way. Lee sees this same choppy market in equities also, which leads him to believe that the S&P 500 needs to move upward for Bitcoin to follow.

During this same segment, BKCM founder and CEO Brian Kelly told Fast Money that this is a “massive buying opportunity” for those looking to jump into Bitcoin since there is “too much money coming into this market.” He argues that “for the next six months” there is the opportunity for a ‘generational buy.’

6189  Bitcoin / Press / [2019-09-16] Darkweb criminals launder cash for bitcoin at pennies for dollar on: September 16, 2019, 01:19:46 AM
Scammers scamming other fellow scammers. Let us wait until those criminals selling cash for bitcoin discover that bitcoin is not anonymous hehehe. They might pay for $0.01 on the dollar for Monero or Grin transactions hehe.

The second annual research report by cloud security provider Armor shows that criminals are selling cash for bitcoin on darkweb marketplaces at a substantially reduced rate.

According to the report, Armor researchers examined 12 different hacker marketplaces over the course of five months and determined that cash was being sold for bitcoin at pennies on the dollar. The report states that darkweb markets are thriving despite the continued crackdown on their existence.

More concerning for crypto users was the discovery that criminals were using bitcoin to aid in laundering stolen funds.

The report says,

One of the cleverest services spotted was where a criminal can pay a seller $800 in Bitcoin and have $10,000 transferred to a bank account of their choice or wired to them via Western Union, a seamless turn-key money laundering service.

While 12 cents on the dollar may appear a poor exchange for illicitly obtained funds, the Armor report claims it poses an attractive avenue for less experienced criminals.

Chris Hinkley, head of Armor’s TRU team, explained,

For those scammers who don’t possess the technical skills and a robust money mule network to monetize online bank account or credit card credentials, this is an offer that can be very attractive...this clever service gives them an additional channel for monetizing the large amounts of financial data available on the underground.

@eaLiTy. Cowboy is also weak versus body punches and kicks. I predict that Justin Gaethje will begin the fight with strong leg kicks and punches to the body to weaken Cowboy and might win in the 1st round or in the beginning of the 2nd round by knockout or technical knockout.

Cowboy might be prepared for this, however, and he might try to take the fight to 5 rounds where Justin weakens. But how can he defend Justin's attacks for 3 or 4 rounds? Maybe running hehehehe.

@gentlemand. How would the hackers exploit it? Tether is centralized. It can declare that they will not honor the value of the tokens of any wallet in anytime they want.
6193  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ❓❓❓ What the heck is Ethereum 2.0 anyway ❓❓❓ on: September 14, 2019, 04:49:25 AM
What are the disadvantages of switching from PoW to PoS ?
I'm asking this, so that we can have an objective discussion.

Also, is it an upgrade or a reboot of the platform? It appears Vitalik created a new platform and called it Ethereum 2.0. Is it his acknowledgement that Ethereum 1.0 has failed?

Serenity exists as a wholly new chain alongside the current chain. As we mentioned above, they will use Casper FFG to ease up the transition from Eth1 to Eth2 by overlaying it top of the existing network as an additional layer. You can read more about the technique they use at Ethhub.

Vitalik says that the transition to Eth2 is a way to bring technical improvements. It tends to fix the various problems highlighted by Ethereum 1.0 (Scalabity, Security and Decentralization etc).

Wait. Just try to make it clear. So they just add Casper as an overlay to the existing proof of work system right?

Yes that's true. Casper FFG is a proof of stake-based finality protocol which overlays an existing proof of work blockchain. It's a partial consensus mechanism combining proof of stake algorithm research and Byzantine fault tolerant consensus theory to provide additional protections against block reversions. Basically, Casper FFG is designed to implement POS and mitigate the “Nothing at Stake” problem.

I reckon that using the word overlay is a trick to cover the truth that Ethereum 2.0 is a reboot of the Ethereum 1.0 blockchain. It is a new platform where the users will migrate their coins through a smart contract. It is similar to burning your coins in the old blockchain to receive the new coins in the new blockchain. This is not what you call an overlay.

The developers also make it appear to be interested in a 2way bridge to make it appear like an overlay.

@squatter. However, Tether is centralized and backed with assets in their vaults. USDT and CNHT might not need the security that the bitcoin and the Ethereum blockchains offer, I reckon.
6195  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Price Could Surpass $15,000 This Week: Max Keiser on: September 14, 2019, 03:27:00 AM
~
Agreed. Tom Lee is the funniest because he appears to be the most desperate. He might have more than $100 million of investors' money on bitcoin that went in late. What if his $14,000 fair value for bitcoin is the breakeven of the investment hehehe?

that is what the "brokers" have been traditionally doing for years. they always tell their investors not to pull out of the market because them keeping their money in will give these "brokers" who have nothing at risk a lot of commissions. that is why Lee has been assuring his newbie investors that price is going to a new ATH all through 2018 during the drops, basically every day!

Tom Lee the bagholder hehehe? Listening to him is similar to listening to the altcoin and ICO token bagholders who hype in the altcoin subforum. Similar patterns and similar ways of speaking.

It is also very amusing how the people react to him hehe.

Which character does the forum consider more of a joker? Tom Lee or Max Keiser?

Definitely Tom Lee is the most funny, in the last months he has been avoiding make many predictions. did he finally realize that he's failing a lot?

However, Max Keiser is very annoying for me. What does he want to be? A bitcoin influencer?

they are called: " bitcoin bull "

Max Keiser Sets $28,000 Bitcoin Price Target as Market Falters

This time he has not set a specific date for the price to reach this value, so no one will charge him anything

Agreed. Tom Lee is the funniest because he appears to be the most desperate. He might have more than $100 million of investors' money on bitcoin that went in late. What if his $14,000 fair value for bitcoin is the breakeven of the investment hehehe?

Glover still fighting huh? He still hungry for that belt.

Khabib will meet his match. Maybe his is the king in his division for now, but there will be a time that someone will dethrone him in the 155 division.
He will if he does not retire early or if he does not choose/avoid his opponent later on.

Discipline, Respect and Skills, put them all together and you have an undefeated fighter.
You can also add tough chin (at the moment) in there. He has been hit hard a few times but his chin held up. There will come a time where he will lose it and will be knocked out.

Khabib's chin was never tested by Dustin. He tried on the 2nd round, but he did not have a strong convincing punch on Khabib's head.

Also, Dustin appeared to be weaker than his fights before this. It might be the heat.
6198  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [2019-09-10] CNBC’s Ran NeuNer Nails One of Crypto’s Biggest Flaws on: September 13, 2019, 02:55:06 AM
It all boils down to this:

How much knowledge do you need?

If you can explain to someone how to send and receive a Bitcoin transaction, then they already know as much as they do about fiat.  That gets us about halfway there.  Then you have to explain security, backups and personal responsibility, which might take a bit longer.  Emphasise the part about how there's no one who can intervene to cancel or refund a transaction for them and you're pretty much done.

How is any of that difficult to explain?

Agreed. It is similar to saying that people should be careful on taking loans from banks because the fractional banking system takes more than 1 hour to explain.

However, people should be careful taking loans from banks because of the fractional banking system heheheeh.
6199  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-05-21] Bitfinex Argues Why Judge Should Dismiss NYAG Case in Latest Case on: September 13, 2019, 02:39:27 AM
@gentlemand. Only 2 days after I mentioned it, some worries about Tether's congestion of the Ethereum blockchain has begun.

I predict that Tether might transfer to another blockchain or Vitalik might rush Ethereum 2.0 and create a broken platform. This might be good news for Ethereum Classic hehe.

Tether transactions are currently clogging up the Ethereum Network reigniting the debate over gas limits. The issue might become further exacerbated with Tether’s latest stablecoin launch — a Chinese yuan-pegged ERC-20 token which will run on Ethereum’s blockchain.

There are complaints on Reddit from Ethereum users about delays in their transactions. According to reports, Tether transactions are the reason for the buildup of unconfirmed transactions on the network.
Trustnodes reports that Tether is using up close to half of the computing potential on the network. Data from CoinMarketCap shows daily ETH trading at about $6.5 billion but Tether’s USDT stablecoin transfers top $16 billion per day.

There is however, no clear reason for the sudden strain being put on the network by Tether transactions. Back in 2018, the network could handle more 1.4 million on-chain transactions per day but now is becoming congested with 50 percent of the transaction load.

In July 2019, Binance did state that they would drop Omni-based USDT in favor of the ERC20 USDT counterpart. Tether accounts for a significant portion of the global cryptocurrency trade, providing liquidity for exchanges who otherwise cannot transact in U.S. dollars.

Data from Ethereum network monitoring platform Etherscan shows Tether pushing through more than 100,000 on-chain transactions in a little under an eight-hour period.

With the launch of a new yuan-pegged Tether stablecoin running on Ethereum, the network may become even more clogged. Tether in recent months has proven to be a useful conduit for trade between Russia and China.
