5381  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is DeFi anything? on: April 20, 2020, 03:34:31 AM
@gentlemand. Also this news. dForce copied Compound's code hehehhe. It is paywalled, however. Does anyone have a theblockcrypto subscription? Kindly share the full article. Thank you.

VC-backed Compound is alleging that a fast-growing DeFi startup stole its code. The dispute raises questions about what 'open-source' actually means

A DeFi startup in China called dForce has seen notable growth in its lending protocol over the past two months.

VC-backed Compound says the company stole its copyrighted code – an assertion that appears to be supported by information on GitHub

The dispute highlights what “open-source” means in practice for technology firms.

@odolvlobo. What more can he do for Purse if the problem is financial? I reckon if the bitcoin economy, the largest in the cryptospace cannot support it, how can bitcoin cash save it?

Also, that video was a promotion for bitcoin cash if no one noticed heheheh.
5383  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-04-13] Coin Mixer’s Record Month Proves Bitcoin Users Want Anonymity on: April 20, 2020, 01:40:13 AM
Why would regular people who use bitcoin as a speculative investment want to mix their coins?
Because privacy is a fundamental right. You don't have to be doing something illegal to want to keep your financial dealings private or to obfuscate how much bitcoin you are holding.

Why do regular people who own fiat not post their bank statements publicly?
Why do regular people who own gold not post their holdings publicly?
Why do regular people who own stocks and shares not post their holdings publicly?
Why should bitcoin users be any different?

Bitcoin is unique in that anyone in the world can see what you are holding if they know your address(es), and so bitcoin is unique in its need for mixing services.

Agreed. Privacy is a fundamental right, however, that was not the argument. I was asking why or how can we assume that regular people who use bitcoin only as a speculative investment, or use it legally, mix their coins? This would put taint on their coins and also put their accounts on exchanges at risk.
5384  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is DeFi only another type of scam? on: April 19, 2020, 05:16:29 AM
The question if some DeFi are scams is not the only question. Another question is are they safe for users?

Why are these DeFi developed in Ethereum insecure? Are the severe bugs there because of flaws in Ethereum's programming language Solidity?

Decentralized finance protocol dForce has lost over 99 percent of its assets in an attack Saturday night, according to DeFi Pulse.

Lending protocol Lendf.me saw some $25 million in ether (ETH) and bitcoin (BTC) exit its wallets late Saturday and early Sunday after its money market pool was attacked. Lendf is one of two protocols supported by the dForce Foundation.

“Lendf.me confirmed it was attacked at 8:45 Beijing time Sunday at block height 9899681,” Lendf.me said to Chinese media outlet Chain News. dForce did not respond to CoinDesk's requests for comment by press time.

It is unclear whether any users were able to withdraw their funds or if the attacker seized all $25 million. Compound CEO Robert Leshner claimed that the attacker seized the full total.

They wouldn't have lasted this long (six years) if that had been the case. They were a legitimate company but they have faced many similar accusations from people unacquainted with their business model.

I was not saying they were working with criminals. I was speculating that much of their volume might be from stolen gift cards. This might have attracted the attention of the government.

@OgNasty. However, it can also be argued that buying worthless altcoins is also a bitcoin use case hehehe.
5386  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-04-13] Coin Mixer’s Record Month Proves Bitcoin Users Want Anonymity on: April 19, 2020, 04:04:46 AM
Is there available data where it graphs for what those legal transactions to bitcoin mixing are? There might be more criminals that have become more sophisticated in their bitcoin laundry methods hehehe.

Actually, technology and sophistication come before the crime. Criminals are simply among those more likely to be early adopters of new/emerging technology. That's a proven enforcement pattern, which is why enforcement have also been known to recruit former criminals -- how else do you get ahead of the curve right?

But yeah. Coming back to the headline, that's all the stats prove. That Bitcoin users want more privacy.

Agreed. For this reason, did criminals find a new method to trick Chainanalysis and make it appear that they are regular people randomly mixing their coins?

Why would regular people who use bitcoin as a speculative investment want to mix their coins?
5387  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] AEON: Cryptonote privacy, efficiency, decentralization, and stability on: April 18, 2020, 03:13:26 AM
@smooth. Zergpool has more than 51% of the hashrate. Consider that and this more than 3x pump, the skeptical me is suspecting that we might be under attack. Is this possible? Should we tell Bittrex and Tradeogre to stop deposits?
5388  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / [NEWS] Data shows Ripple's community is dissolving fast on: April 18, 2020, 02:55:01 AM
I speculate that much of the XRP Army on social media were fake and from farmed accounts created in an office hehehe.

Account farming was also done here in the forum before the merit system.

According to new data, however, this is changing, with multiple reports indicating that the Ripple community is shrinking at a rapid clip despite positive fundamental developments.

According to “The State of Digital Assets, Q1 2020” — a report outlining the state of the crypto industry penned by multi-asset trading platform eToro and The TIE, a crypto analytics upstart — the XRP Army has begun to shrink at a notable pace.

5389  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Purse.io is shutting down on: April 18, 2020, 02:23:02 AM
How big is the possibility that much of purse.io's volume is for money laundering through hacked or stolen gift cards? Their team might have discovered that their success is based on criminal activities.
5390  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-04-13] Coin Mixer’s Record Month Proves Bitcoin Users Want Anonymity on: April 18, 2020, 01:48:56 AM
The stats/news shown by ETFBitcoin and oeleo show that only a minority of transactions (2% is only 1 in 50!) related to Bitcoin mixing are for illicit purposes. And we already saw this drop even as early as 2016/17 -- post-Silk Road, people already understood Bitcoin wasn't good for deep dark bad things. Those who didn't get the lessons learnt it during the Alphabay takedown in 2017.

Users are wisening up and asking for anonymity, cause for celebration, and vindication of Bitcoin's own development direction towards privacy.

Is there available data where it graphs for what those legal transactions to bitcoin mixing are? There might be more criminals that have become more sophisticated in their bitcoin laundry methods hehehe.
5391  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Grin Observer - GRN/BTC - Price Movement and Discussion on: April 17, 2020, 04:49:52 AM

50c GRIN.... now?  Huh

I reckon that it might be better to wait for the inflation to lessen relative to the the total supply distributed. There are also other cryptocoins more ready to pump.
5392  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Is DeFi only another type of scam? on: April 17, 2020, 04:23:20 AM
Also, if it is really decentralized finance, there should not be anyone suable, I reckon. The liability should be on the community as holders of Dai.

This DeFi is CeFi hehehehe.

Read the article.

According to the complaint, collateralized debt position holders lost $8.325 million when the value of the Ethereum (ETH) that Maker held in collateral plummeted relative to the dollar-pegged stablecoin DAI in which those loans were held.

The risk of such a scenario was not clear to these investors, the complaint alleges, further criticizing Maker’s advertised decentralization:

“While misrepresenting to CDP Holders the actual risks they faced, The Maker Foundation neglected its responsibilities to its investors by either fostering or, at the very least, allowing the conditions that led to Black Thursday, all after actively soliciting millions of dollars of investment into its ecosystem.”

The complaint asks for a minimum of $8.325 million in compensation and $20 million in punitive damages.

Gaethje would have taken this fight even if he hadn’t trained for 6 months. It’s a pay day & if he wins, a shot at Khabib. Gaethje won’t be scared but I expect Ferguson will win.
Justin Gaethje is not known to take fights on short notice and even during this short notice replacement he was in shape and was in gym all day and after consulting with his coaches and the money involved and the intern title on the line might have given him the motivation to accept this fight but the problem is that Justin Gaethje lost against tough competition and anyone who fought Ferguson looked entirely different because they are not able to recognize because of the damage Grin.

The coronavirus is similar to the flu virus.
Covid is not similar to flu simply because the scientist are still not clear about the new virus, with flu we have an understanding about the mortality rate and other essential data but with COVID new data is coming out and hopefully within a few months i expect them to come up with solutions and have a complete understanding about the virus.

Flu vaccinations are given to people, however, why are some of those people again infected by the flu? There might be more strains mutating.
Virus keeps on mutating faster than we expect, if we find a vaccine for a particular strain then they will mutate and find a way to infect us  Undecided. It is a long battle and it will go on as long as humans exist.

You are correct, I was wrong. The influenza virus is not a coronavirus, however, a common cold is a type of corona virus which does not have a vaccine because of quickly mutating strains. Covid19 might become similar to common cold virus, Sars or Mers. It might become always a threat.

Coronaviruses are a group of related viruses that cause diseases in mammals and birds. In humans, coronaviruses cause respiratory tract infections that can range from mild to lethal. Mild illnesses include some cases of the common cold (which has other possible causes, predominantly rhinoviruses), while more lethal varieties can cause SARS, MERS, and COVID-19.

Also, this comparison to the influenza virus on the nature of a virus.

However, flu viruses tend to mutate during flu season, which may alter the effectiveness of the current flu vaccine. Unfortunately, manufacturers are not able to reissue flu vaccines when this happens because of the way flu vaccines are created and produced for human use.

5394  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: April 16, 2020, 02:31:00 AM
If vaccine is created, ufc fighter probably wont be the first to get them Smiley
I’d prefer to wait than to be first to receive vaccine, just to be sure it 100% it works Smiley

I reckon it might not work similar to smallpox vaccines. The coronavirus is similar to the flu virus. Flu vaccinations are given to people, however, why are some of those people again infected by the flu? There might be more strains mutating.
5395  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [NEWS] Cryptocoin Operators In China To Team Up As Regulations Tighten, CZ says on: April 16, 2020, 01:55:07 AM
@Darker45. Aggressiveness comes from the confidence on their deep pockets. However, where is the money coming from? Changpeng Zhao and Justin Sun appear to have business people supporting their cryptospace spending orgy hehehehe.
5396  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [AEON] Aeon Speculation on: April 16, 2020, 01:07:42 AM
@bigslimvdub. Pumpers that leave all their coins on the exchange might be a signal for a pump and dump hehe. The pump might end within 10% of Monero's price, however hehehehehee.
5397  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] AEON: Cryptonote privacy, efficiency, decentralization, and stability on: April 16, 2020, 12:34:32 AM
@bigslimvdub. However, no.5 might be Aeon's only chance for longterm survival similar to what occured on bitcoin. Also, without the mining industry that supports a cryptocoin, I reckon mass adoption would be impossible. There has to be assurance on longterm security.
5398  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [AEON] Aeon Speculation on: April 15, 2020, 05:00:15 AM
@bigslimvdub. Are they dumping or pumping? I shake my head. I reckon they should be dumping, however, nothing has occured. I also speculated that the dump might occur after Bittrex's wallet returns. It has returned but there is also no dumping.

Did anybody watch Trumps task force briefing yesterday ? That was some fun Grin
It was 10/10 lol

What caught me off guard was that CNN didn't care about showing just how impartial they are towards the Trump administration and how hostile they are towards Trump...I mean, they always have been, but look at these images, look at the news ticker: https://ibb.co/rF7jgH7
I think that video (did it really cost as much as to say "at taxpayers expense"? looked like 10yo made it haha) really pissed some people off in this news network and last night they went completely bananas

He then used some propaganda video to prove how he managed everything perfectly, but it was missing the whole February, where he took no actions and played golf, travelled to India etc
But rather than recommending a shutdown Dr Fauci said in February that there was no need to change your daily activities. It's worth mentioning that 2 days earlier, Trump said that this virus "was going to dissapearHuh

It was a meltdown from both Trump and CNN, but i'm not surprised to see such stuff from Trump, tho...
When a CNN reporter asked him about how he has authority to decide on opening the country all at once again, while this is against the consitution, he just shut her up. I mean this is hilarious: https://youtu.be/HNaCSwezJHo?t=4557
"ENOUGH" wow! did you see her face? That's the face of someone who literally can't comprehend what the hell just happened  Cheesy Oh, and let me guess, she's from CNN?

However, is Trump wrong? He was called a racist because he ordered to ban flights from China. It certainly appears to be the correct decision.

He has also ordered for the American government to stop giving money to World Health Organization because it is controlled by China.

@malevolent. Exchanges can also declare a hack then issue a token to sell to their users to help the exchange raise the funds required to replace the stolen funds. This money carousel scheme was created by Bitfinex before hehehehe.
