5361  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Websites to discuss vaccine damage repair. on: May 15, 2021, 04:23:26 AM
As some of you know, I am a collector of domain names. I'm starting to see posts and discussions on the net that discuss the repair of vaccine damaged immune system and body organs. With so many people being vaccinated in the current panicdemic (sic), this seems to be a massive growth market over the next few years. Do you think I should be investing in these health repair domain names?

Obviously, you can do whatever you want with your money. What I see is that you think there is going to be a growth market in the same way that you think there are a lot of people dying in the short term from the effects of the vaccine.

I see one person posted that the vaccines haven't been around long enough to comment. Well, if someone dies within 5 minutes or a few days, then one case could be a coincidence, but there are too many people dying shortly after vaccination for it not to be a contributing factor.

I don't see either that there is going to be a growth in that market or that a lot of people are dying from the vaccine. Every day I meet more and more people who have had it and have had only mild symptoms or none at all.

You have to think that Israel started vaccinating almost half a year ago now, and we have no evidence that people are dying (in a statistically significant way) from it. Historically, negative side effects from vaccines have appeared up to six months after being vaccinated.
5362  Other / Off-topic / Re: I got vaccinated today on: May 15, 2021, 04:15:10 AM
I  got vaccinated today

Please, right now while you think of it, put me in your will.

Cool

No posts recently - did the vaccine  get him?

No. Actually, his disappearance has nothing to do with the vaccine. He was banned:

A likely case of merit purchased.
5363  Economy / Economics / Re: Enjoy comunism: Venezuela raises monthly minimum wage to $2.40 on: May 15, 2021, 04:06:32 AM
...

Are you from Venezuela @verita1? You seem to at least know well the country.

Thank you Poker Player for giving me 1 Merit. I wanted to make a quote to The Pharmacist and I couldn't.

I must also thank you for the interest in creating a thread about my country.
In relation to the Venezuelan minimum wage, each year on May 1st it is customary to hear about an increase.
I can only tell you that among families we collaborate to cover the expenses of those who need the most.

A look at how the Venezuelan approaches dollarization can be checked here:

https://www.reuters.com/world/americas/maduro-seeks-speed-up-digital-payments-venezuela-runs-out-cash-2021-03-15/

Another thing @The Pharmacist was asking was whether there has been an adoption of cryptos in Venezuela. I remember seeing news that said yes, but I would like to hear about your experience. Also, I guess what you earn from the signature campaign will help quite a bit. I have checked the campaign spreadsheet and I see that you will be earning about $20-25 per week, which is not much but I imagine that in Venezuela it is a blessing.
5364  Economy / Economics / Re: On the future of Cryptocurrencies on: May 14, 2021, 04:56:18 PM
Those collateral loans are highly overrated when it comes to a large purchase...

That's one thing that Saylor is popularizing and I think it can lead to problems because he has become very popular and keeps repeating it over and over again. He gives the example of what the very rich do, which is not to sell and use their first-class assets as collateral. The thing is, and he's said this once, but it's not emphasized nearly as much, they borrow on a very small percentage of their assets.

To give a practical example, what a Rockefeller who has Bitcoin and wants cash would do, assuming he has 1,000 Bitcoin, is to ask for $250k in cash and give 10 Bitcoin as collateral. When the market goes up, he keeps refinancing the 10 Bitcoin and getting more cash. If the market goes down, he can give 10 or 20 more Bitcoin as collateral and not even bat an eyelid.

The problem with popularizing this idea is that it seems to me that we are going to have legions of people only keeping the first part of the idea, and going into excessive debt. That is, someone who has 0.1 or 1 Bitcoin, borrowing and leaving as collateral everything they have. And when there is a market downturn there will be thousands of little fish that will be devoured.
5365  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why the martingale system sucks! (doubling down on losses) on: May 14, 2021, 04:46:22 PM
I have also explained in several posts why martingale sucks. There is always someone who thinks they have found a good system, which after all is a variant of martingale. They are systems that do not work, as no strategy works against the casino, because they are EV-games. If you play casino games, do it to pass the time and knowing that the potential return is negative. If you then get lucky in the short term, that's what you get.

5366  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What's been happening with you since you DIDN'T take the vaccine? on: May 14, 2021, 04:42:19 PM
Even at 50k daily there is a chance that it might be toxic.

I agree. 50k daily over the long them would make an average person, say middle-aged, thin or slightly overweight and with no vitamin D absorption problems, clearly exceed 100 ng/ml. I would never recommend taking those doses without a doctor's supervision. Doctor Coimbra for example, uses high doses like that to treat autoimmune diseases:

Coimbra Protocol

1k-5k IU's is more than enough if you're vitamin D deficient (daily).

Yeah, well, it's more than enough if your target level is at least 30 ng/ml, which is too low in my opinion. If your target level is something like 60-80 ng/ml, a level not considered toxic by any standards, something like 5k-10k would be better for the average person.
5367  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin decline is not related ONLY to Elon Musk! Binance is also related to it! on: May 14, 2021, 07:16:12 AM
It is clear that correlation does not imply causation. It had some influence, but it need not have been the only influence. I also believe that the threat of hyperinflation that brought down the stock market also had some influence on the price of Bitcoin. In the medium and long term, inflation should drive the price up, but in the short term there are people who invest in Bitcoin as just another financial asset and when faced with news like this, they sell. Simply because they believe the price is going to go down.

5368  Economy / Speculation / Re: Musk only wanted to transfer attention to his BTC mining bussiness - don't FUD on: May 14, 2021, 07:07:32 AM
That makes sense to me. That instead of being due only to the excuse of environmentalism, which I understand that it matters to a certain extent, it also has an economic component. He has already been fined for market manipulation], as I mentioned in another post, although I don't think anything will happen to him now.

5369  Economy / Economics / Re: Enjoy comunism: Venezuela raises monthly minimum wage to $2.40 on: May 14, 2021, 07:02:39 AM
I would like to reply to The Pharmacist.
Venezuelans buy US dollars in order to alleviate inflation. Most Venezuelans do not have the ability to save, their bank accounts will surely be empty as well as mine.
The adoption of crypto in Venezuela has one of its most important representatives as it is.

https://cryptobuyer.io/es/merchants/

But unfortunately its CEO Jorge Farias died as a result of covid19 last month. Probably the development of his project is slower because of his absence or maybe not. How everyone knows how to adopt cryptocurrencies in any of the scenarios is a long journey.

Venezuelans buy and sell cryptocurrencies on P2P Binance, there are also other platforms such as Cryptoway and Cryptobuyer. I have used all these platforms to sell bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies to make use of my local currency and meet my daily needs every week.

The adoption of the cryptocurrencies that you can see in the videos has been thanks to the efforts of Cryptobuyer and other personalities but it is a small and important part to continue moving forward.

I think it would have been better if you had quoted him, but I gave you merit anyway. This is what the Pharmacist said:

Yeah well, what do you think has been happening in slow motion in the US and other countries over the past century or more?  Prices rise, wages rise in step (sometimes).  Workers in 1906 could buy a meal at a restaurant for $0.25 but some made about $1/day.  And look at today's prices and wages in the average American city.  Anyway, it's sad to see Venezuela getting hit this hard.  The thing I'm wondering is whether Venezuelans are actually using that shitty currency or are using something more stable (like the USD or some other relatively local currency).  I can't imagine anyone there would want to save money in the form of a currency that's hyperinflating.  They'd either spend it as soon as they get it or trade it for dollars (or crypto even).

Any Venezuelans here who could shed some light as to what the reality is there?  I've asked that before in a couple of other threads about Venezuela, but I don't think I ever got any replies.  Has there been an increase in crypto adoption as has been claimed on a bunch of Youtube videos or is that just BS?

Are you from Venezuela @verita1? You seem to at least know well the country.
5370  Economy / Economics / Re: Vitalik Buterin donated billions to India to fight Covid-19 crisis on: May 14, 2021, 06:53:30 AM
I hope the money will be put to good use. Thank goodness that many people who become multimillionaires, think of others and help them as in this case. I make some donations too, on a small scale and as I increase my net worth, I will donate more.
5371  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can someone please help me understand why it's like this? on: May 14, 2021, 06:43:51 AM
In second case since the top value is changed, so it has to change the steps and the range to match that. Due to rounding it ends up using a different minimum.

This is a very strange rounding method if that's the case. Usually rounding to a very different number like this means you're going to round to the nearest 10, or 100. My bets are on that particular price being registered outside of exchanges' training hours for BTC (post above yours says it was at 02:33) so they included the lowest price in the window. Bitstamp has such hours for example.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Pooya87 has made a detailed explanation that has left me a bit perplexed. Perhaps it is that the rounding of the Bitcoin price is different from the way it is done in classical arithmetic.
5372  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What's been happening with you since you DIDN'T take the vaccine? on: May 14, 2021, 05:25:13 AM
40,000 or 50,000 units of vitamin D

Who in the world told you to take 40k IU's of vitamin D? 5k a day is enough.

Isn't vitamin D toxic at these levels? I know babies can overdose on it, not sure about adults.

Yes it can be toxic. With vitamin D supplements, everyone can potentially overdose, unlike what happens when we sunbathe.

In reality, we should not be talking so much about the amount to be taken, as the blood levels that are reached. In general, it is considered a safe level to have up to 100 ng/ml in the blood, but severe and widespread cases of hypercalcemia start at levels well above that, although there are some cases of people with a level slightly above 100 ng/ml who had several other health conditions and developed hypercalcemia. I have read a lot during the subject for several years, and accordingly I would say:

1) If you take 10,000 IU daily or less, you don't need to get blood work done.
2) If you take between 10,000 and 20,000 IU, I would go once or twice a year for a vitamin D and calcium test. Normally nothing happens with these doses but it is better to be safe.
3) If you take more than 20,000 IU daily, get in the hands of a medical professional.

There are other things that reduce the risk of developing hypercalcemia if you take doses that are considered high according to current guidelines:

1) Take your vitamin D3 with K2. Many supplements have them combined.
2) Drink enough water. 1.5 to 2 liters should be fine.
3) Don't take to much of calcium-rich products, like cheese etc.

Another thing you can do is what I do. In the winter months I take doses of 20,000 IU or sometimes more, in the spring and fall it would be between 10,000 and 20,000 and in the summer I don't usually take vitamin D supplements.

I always take it with K2 and I don't test myself anymore but in the past I did and I know that with this pattern I don't develop any health problems.
5373  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC in the $xxx, xxx price zone on: May 13, 2021, 09:10:33 AM
This is unlikely to happen this year. In addition, it is almost impossible to predict. Look at the price now. It's too early to draw any conclusions.

I, on the contrary, this it's likely. A little bump on the road will not prevent us from reaching our destination. Fundamentals are good, and I don't think the many companies that are buying bitcoin and offering it as a payment method are going to follow Musk for supposedly ecological reasons.
5374  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Elom Musk is farting, the whole crypto suffocates! Is Elon working with SEC? on: May 13, 2021, 08:27:28 AM
The thing is, Musk was already fined for market manipulation. But I think he will not be charged with anything now because his statements affect the crypto world.
5375  Other / Meta / Re: Post your your experience of being moderated here on: May 13, 2021, 07:56:09 AM
Well, that's the way things work here. That post wouldn't have been deleted in other forums, but usually too short posts that don't add anything meaningful are at risk of being reported and deleted.

In my case, I had some posts deleted after someone considered one of my posts low value and went through my post history on a reporting spree.

It has not happened again, I guess it is clear that I am a decent poster. Although I suppose I might get some post deleted in the future but I know 99%+ of my posts won't.
5376  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What's been happening with you since you DIDN'T take the vaccine? on: May 13, 2021, 07:46:48 AM
Nothing in my case, although I am not in a risk group. I also take vitamin D but not everything can be cured or prevented naturally and through exercise.

I don't mind going to the doctor and I would listen to him if I suspected I had something serious, although I would consult more than one.

5377  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Musk and Tesla's BTC conspiracy on: May 13, 2021, 06:49:12 AM
People are getting tired of Elon Musk. He is a sneaky manipulator and enough is enough.

BTC will be fine but Musk and his Tesla's will see less sales, that's guaranteed, I wouldn't buy from such a narc even if he sold me his cars at half price!

Do you really think he will see a significant reduction in sales? I don't think there are that many people who were going to buy Tesla with bitcoin or are upset about this (even if they were going to buy it in fiat) and are no longer going to do so because of this.

5378  Economy / Economics / Re: Inflation speeds up in April as consumer prices leap 4.2%, fastest since 2008 on: May 13, 2021, 06:42:28 AM
I did see it because I follow the stock market and it has had a negative effect on it.

There has also been a price drop in Bitcoin, but I'm not clear how much is due to this and how much is due to Elon Musk, but in theory, in the medium to long term, this should drive the price up. As bitmover ironically says, I don't know what the massive money printers expected. History teaches us that this inevitably ends badly, and we are starting to see the first signs of it.
5379  Other / Meta / Re: A likely case of merit purchased on: May 12, 2021, 03:13:06 PM
Also disagree. Based on your theory, why reward anyone with merit at all, if you can, as you say, sell them?

I think exactly the same.

In general, it's time to close the topic. The user is banned.

I'll leave it open a little bit more, in case someone else wants to reply/add something to the selling merits issue.

If the thread doesn't die by itself, and I see that the replies (if any) don't add much to what has already been said, I'll lock the thread, as I have done other times.
5380  Other / Meta / Re: A likely case of merit purchased on: May 12, 2021, 11:37:20 AM
Selling sMerits is not a problem unless who selling those sMerits is a merit source.

I don't agree with that at all. Theymos explicitly prohibited merit sources from selling merit. That does not mean that he allows others to sell them. I saw this discussed on the forum in some thread in the past, but I can't find it now.
