6121  Economy / Economics / Re: Tesla overtake Amazon? on: January 08, 2021, 05:23:30 PM
I have a better question: who the hell cares?  The list of wealthiest people is going to keep changing with time, and so is the list of companies with the highest market cap.

Well. It's funny because I think this is more of a topic for the speculation section, which I seem to remember that you don't like or have it on ignore or something.

Others like me love these kinds of threads about what keeps changing and can't be easily guessed.
6122  Economy / Economics / Re: Tesla overtake Amazon? on: January 08, 2021, 03:27:37 PM
Your title is misleading, OP. Tesla hasn't overtaken Amazon and it's far from it.

https://companiesmarketcap.com/assets-by-market-cap/

Tesla market cap has to double to pass Amazon.

Does anyone know why Musk is richer than Bezos? Maybe it's because he owns a higher percentage of shares and maybe because he also owns SpaceX.

6124  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin fraud on: January 08, 2021, 01:42:55 PM
Well I am sure this is the right forum to ask the question but I am not sure if you meant "board" instead of "forum". Anyway, the thread can be moved.

I am afraid there is not much you can do but please share more details and I am sure there will be experienced members willing to help.
6125  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: what do you think is the main reason for the emergence of bitcoin? on: January 08, 2021, 01:40:05 PM
Bitcoin was created as an alternative to central banks. The idea of Satoshi was to create a P2P electronic cash system but nowadays, although it can be used for P2P payments is seems it is succeeding as an alternative to gold. Or better said as the best of store of value in the world. Note that although this changes the initial idea a little, it doesn't deviate much from it either. Bitcoin succeeds as central banks print more and more money. It's a decentralized, autonomous system based on mathematical security.

As for the other factors behind the recent rise in price, it would be above all the brutal increase in demand by institutional investors, also, the start of the FOMO for small investors and the reduction in supply (halving and withdrawals from exchanges to cold wallets)

This is very nice.

mindrust's sold stash is approaching $0.5M.

Where is r0ach?

6127  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: PETITION to list all BTC on exchanges in mBTC on: January 08, 2021, 06:15:06 AM
I see some sense in what you say but I'm not sure it would work. Besides, why don't listing directly in satoshis? Would that be left for future "splits"?
6128  Economy / Speculation / Re: Play smart, set exit points, take profit, re-enter on: January 08, 2021, 05:56:30 AM
I don't agree with OP, as he is trying to time the market.

The best proven method to make profits with bitcoin is just to buy and hold. Everyone who has bought bitcoin and held it is in profit. On the other hand, many of those who played at doing what the OP says have lost money and regret it. I have seen it said many times, I shouldn't have traded with my holdings. That doesn't mean you can't ever sell, though.
6129  Bitcoin / Legal / How are lightning payments going to be taxed? on: January 07, 2021, 09:46:23 PM
I've just watched this video:

BTC007: Bitcoin Disrupting Payment Clearing Houses w/ Jack Mallers

In the interview, Jack Mallers talks about various aspects of the lighting network but I want to focus on one:

According to him, with the lighting network you will be able to pay in any store either directly with your bitcoin, if the store implements the lightning network, or by converting instantly to cash with a visa if it does not accept it. The problem is that, according to him, because of recent regulations in the US, any store billing more than $3k a day will have to implement KYC as well.

He says that his company has an answer or solution in mind but has not wanted to disclose it yet.

If you pay for a coffee with a visa, having instantly converted your bitcoin to dollars, in theory you could be charged for capital gains. Let's say you bought the bitcoin at $30k and when you pay it's $40k. The IRS could tax you for the capital gain in proportion to the amount. If you pay with bitcoin the same. I understand that, even if you don't actually convert it to fiat, the state will make you pay fees in an equivalent manner.

This can be a big mess if you have to pay capital gains for every small payment.

I have searched if there were any threads opened about this but have not found anything.

If you pay at a small store that sells less than $3k a day you will maintain privacy, at least at first, but it seems that to pay at Starbuck, McDonald's etc. will not be so.

6130  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 07, 2021, 06:15:43 PM
$10k in 5 days, that's a rocketcopter

I wonder how fast we can get to $50k? I don't expect it to be so fast but you never know.

Everybody is saying that the demand is much higher than the offer. This must be the same reason.
6131  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC crossed $34K. $40K this week? on: January 07, 2021, 06:03:37 PM
LOL.

I've just realized that this thread was created yesterday and bitcon is about to break $40k. Currently $39,800-ish.

Edit (at 06:10:16 PM): it's just crossed $40k now.
6132  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 07, 2021, 05:58:00 PM
No i dont remember that , i was enjoying and jokking around this thread when bitcoin pumps nothing more , i guess this is the main idea of this topic .
my posts do not get deleted in use thats why forget it about that one.

That might have been a mistake, then. Didn't you receive a PM? If so, you can quote it and show here the message that was deleted so people can check if it was a mistake. Anyway, don't worry much about it.

In my opinion, it will be more convenient if the payments are paid in dollars instead of BTC in this period. By doing this, Lightlord won't need to update the payments anymore too.

I respect your opinion but I don't agree with it and I don't mind Lightlord changing the amount as many times as he wants. I am in a bitcoin forum and I'd like to get paid in bitcoin, which I think it's logical. Paying/getting paid in bitcoin is also a way to promote bitcoin, to promote its adoption, to help spread it.

Also, I think to get paid in dollars we would need to go through some KYC procedure and I doubt that's on the table.
6134  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 07, 2021, 04:09:29 PM
39K

How long until 40k? We can be there like in hours.

I feel like a junkie watching the price.

At this rate it could be minutes.

I was trying not to be too optimistic but it's $39,480 already. Yes, we could be there within this hour but something tells me that there will be a small resistance near $40k. That's what usually happens when the price gets close to round numbers.

I want $40k, gimme $40k. C'mon!
6135  Other / Off-topic / Re: CBD Oil Kills Cancer Cells on: January 07, 2021, 04:06:17 PM
Unfortunately, we have no panacea to cure cancer. There are some things that help prevent some or improve the evolution but are not promoted by Big Pharma, although, as I say, none of the following are a panacea: high levels of vitamin D, periodic fasting, low sugar diet, garlic etc. In my opinion you have to try to live a healthy life and you can take supplements such as CBD, vitamin D or whatever you consider, but if necessary you have to put yourself in the hands of doctors

Just checked CMC to see what Bitcoin's market cap is and we're over $900bCAD.

Gotta try to find that chart with the top 10. We must have left Tesla in the dust by now.

Watch out Apple and Amazon. Here we come.

Edit: oops I was looking at CAD.

Not yet but it won't be long.

You can check it here:

Btw, about to cross $39k.
6138  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: red trust on: January 07, 2021, 02:34:31 PM
Yes, expanding a little what DdmrDdmr says, the only important thing in this forum is that someone in DT gives you negative trust. In the signature campaigns they don't let you participate if this happens to you (I don't know if in all of them but at least in most of them). Also, if you want to trade with someone on the forum, you won't be able to, unless the person trading with you is a newbie and hasn't noticed. The same as for promoting a website of business or yours, people won't trust you, etc.
6139  Economy / Speculation / Re: Crypto just hit $1 trillion market cap! on: January 07, 2021, 12:54:37 PM
It's funny how everyone is choo-choo now, no limit, trillions, etc etc, while just a few months ago it was like "will we ever see $10k again". Moderate your expectations and you will not be disappointed. Those who bought at $19k in 2017 were crying for 3 years and blaming everyone else and probably sold at $4k all bitter and angry... don't be that person.

I totally agree. But let us enjoy these moments after a few boring years. It is very pleasing to see how the bitcoin beats ATH after ATH. When we enter a bear market I'll just yawn a lot again and I'll keep holding.
6140  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 07, 2021, 12:48:54 PM
We almost hit $38k

Ok... this is quite a feat. But realistically, it can't just go up forever. What do you guys watch out for when trying to predict trends? Any good insight sites?

I'm my case, as my crystall-ball is broken and I'm not going to buy a new one, I just hold. Buy and hold is the only thing I recommend. You can cash out some profits when some milestones are reached, of course, but trying to time the market is like playing roulette. I know that some won't agree and that there are some people who make profits trading but that's not for me.

Edit: just crossed $38k.
