I was just thinking...
Nice seeing lots of new faces migrating to the wob.
OG'S  be on your best behaviour. (yeah, that's a memo to myself too.)
I do believe in the coming months/years  this thread is going to become the main goto
for all the new folks piling in as Bitcoin and this thread continues its epic journey.

Actually I think this is the best thread on the forum, as it combines news, predictions, fun and even aspects of personal life.

I was reading it for a long time before commenting for the first time.  But, yes, if the price explodes, I think there may be an explosion of new commentators here. I suppose it was harder to be here during the bear market these past years.
6322  Other / Off-topic / Re: Healthy Peoples Don't Die on COVID-19 on: November 24, 2020, 05:23:30 AM
Ofcourse. I actually prefer natural treatments to diseases. Herbs, fruits, vegetables etc for treating many diseases exist. The important thing is where to find them and how to take them safely(without abuse).

Working hard (or exercising) is also very important. From my experience, herbs, fruits, vegetables and other foods tend to work better, taste better, feel satisfying after I have worked really hard (esp after working hard for people)

It is best not to work too hard as it can put stress on your immune system and weaken it. Just do moderate exercise. As for the rest, it would be good also to get some sun but I understand it is difficult as Winter is coming in the Northern Hemisphere.

"CEO says early next year they will allow Crypto (currently: BTC, ETH, BCH, LTC) to be used as a funding source for any of their 28 million merchants. This addresses the “no utility” objection many retailers have about Crypto."
6324  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Divisible by 1 billion on: November 23, 2020, 09:45:04 AM
LOL.

It is divisible by any amount (apart from 0, which isn't exactly an amount). So, it isn't going to run out because an smaller unit can always be created.

Great post OP! Did you come up with it while you were taking a shit or something?
6325  Economy / Speculation / Re: Congrats to everyone for reaching $20k again. on: November 23, 2020, 06:27:51 AM
I opened this post out of pure enthusiasm and realized that I had not yet returned here. When I saw 4 pages I expected it full of shitposts but I see that there are some very interesting comments.

I hope this is the week of the 20k. Everything points to us going up: upward revision of predictions, institutional investors buying more and more...

Have a happy week everyone!
6326  Other / Off-topic / Re: Healthy Peoples Don't Die on COVID-19 on: November 23, 2020, 05:26:50 AM
healthy people with no underlying conditions do die from covid.
its about viral load.
if your gathering near a sick person for long periods to inhale large amounts of the virus. more then even a healthy persons immune system can battle. you will die from it.

No.

I know of some cases of people who have been quarantined and locked up at home with a COVID positive person and have not even caught the virus.

The last one was my cousin, who I saw on Saturday. He caught the virus and had symptoms, but neither the wife nor the three children caught it. When he tested positive for COVID, he was locked in a room, but before that he spent a couple of days sharing the same space with them, kissing and hugging them and they didn't even test positive.

The same happened to a co-worker.

the UK done a study earlier in the year
heres the summary
Of the 33,841 deaths that occurred in March and April 2020 involving COVID-19 in England and Wales, 30,577 (90.4%) had at least one pre-existing condition, while 3,264 (9.6%) had none.

9.6%
ill emphasise this 9.6% had no underlying condition

yep 3k died thinking that covid cant hurt them because they have no conditions.
3k out of 33k

the number is not 0%. its 9%
just take a few moments to realise this fact and realise the risk is not zero

Yeah, well, I agree that the risk is not zero but I don't think it is much higher than with the flu.

I knew a guy who got the flu about 5 years ago. Mid-thirties, aparently healthy, got pneumonia, didn't respond to medication and died.

Apart from that, what were the ages of those 9.6%? I bet all of them weren't healthy 20-year-olds.

I tend to believe that among all those 9.6% some of them were older than 60, some of them had an undetected underlying condition and, yes, some of them were young and healthy and just won the (wrong) lottery but I'm not going to get scared by that 9% figure when I know that the death rate for those younger than 60 is below 1%.
6327  Economy / Economics / Paypal bought up to 70% of all the newly mined bitcoin recently on: November 22, 2020, 09:08:53 PM
We knew that institutional investors were behind the latest price increases but it seems that Paypal is monopolizing most of it:

"Paypal bought up to 70% of all the newly mined bitcoin since the payments giant started offering cryptocurrency services four weeks ago.

Now that’s according to estimates by hedge fund manager Pantera Capital, as revealed in its latest monthly blockchain letter. Together with Square’s Cash App, the two companies are buying more than 100% of all newly issued virgin bitcoin (BTC), it says....

"Pantera Capital says the shortage of bitcoin resulting from high corporate demand means that the likes of Cash App, which recently reported a record $1.6 billion bitcoin revenue, will have to pay more for each coin.

“When other, larger financial institutions follow their (Cash App) lead, the supply scarcity will become even more imbalanced. The only way supply and demand equilibrates is at a higher price,” it explained.

Source: Paypal Bought 70% of All Newly Mined Bitcoin Last Month as Demand Rockets.

I think we are going to hit 20k pretty soon. News like this are non-stop these days. I don't want to even think what will happen when the general public FOMO starts.
6328  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 22, 2020, 06:05:20 PM
Call me an optimist if you like, but I think we'll break ATH before December. All the news I see is positive, it's all upward price prediction reviews.

Only a catastrophe can stop this.
6329  Economy / Economics / Re: Here is why btc will die as a crypto on: November 22, 2020, 06:17:57 AM
If you think the reason why bitcoin exist is to make fast and cheap transactions, you don't understand what cryptocurrency is about.

Bitcoin is not about sending money fast or cheap, but about sending it freely: Immutability, censorship-resistance, and permissionless.

All "fast" blockchains are just centralized and slower than visa. If you don't care about decentralization and just want to make fast transfers, you should use Visa.

Edit:
I just checked the mempool, it is completely empty. You should have used 1 sat/byte and paid less than 0.01 usd.
Next time, check the mempool before sending
You can do it here

Although what you say is true, I think he's got a point: bitcoin was coinceived as P2P electronic cash system.

However, I think that its greatest success comes from being a P2P store of value system. The best store of value actually. This was not Satoshi's original idea but a creation often goes beyond the original idea of its creator.
6330  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Another invesment bank plans to invest on Bitcoin on: November 22, 2020, 06:11:50 AM
Yes, we've seen a few news items of this kind lately, and I don't think they'll be the last. We are clearly in the institutional investment phase. We'll have to see what happens when the mass FOMO is added. The price can go to the moon.
6331  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Poker network now gives '95% of payouts’ in Bitcoin on: November 21, 2020, 09:46:36 AM
I've said, "about" which means that it could be in the process and it includes other industries and businesses.

We will never know if PS will adopt it soon. But as I've said with the condition of a demand being done by their customers, it is possible. Unforeseen things like this with WPN could also happen for them.

Yes, well. I've been playing poker for quite a few years now, mainly at Pokerstars and Pacific, although I've also played poker in other fiat rooms and I can tell you that there's no real demand to play with bitcoin in the major rooms these days. I don't just play poker, I also follow the news, forums etc.

The crypto-rooms that allow you to play poker are not even fit to tie the main fiat sites' shoelaces. Nor in software, traffic or anything else.

That's why I say that I dream of the day when Pokerstars will implement bitcoin deposit/withdrawal, because on that day many things will have changed, and we'll be very close to mass adoption.

Pokestars accepting bitcoin for poker is like Amazon accepting direct bitcoin payments in retail.

6332  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Poker network now gives '95% of payouts’ in Bitcoin on: November 21, 2020, 07:22:45 AM
It is about to be accepted anywhere. I just hope that this bullish trend for bitcoin won't end that fast as it's also gathering attention for most businesses and makes them interested to see where it goes and why people are getting crazy about it.

And for other providers, they're likely to do the same if there are demands of accepting bitcoin.

What?

Do you wanna bet?

What would constitute a breakthrough is for Pokerstars to accept bitcoin but that's not going to happen any time soon. I dream of that day.
6333  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Deutsche Bank: Investors Increasingly Choose Bitcoin Over Gold on: November 21, 2020, 07:05:12 AM
I am not surprised by this kind of news, it is in line with many others we are seeing lately. I am even less surprised by this coming from the Deutsche Bank, since Germany has quite favorable legislation for cryptocurrencies, at least compared to other European countries. Especially interesting is the fact that the idea that bitcoin is better than gold/is going to replace gold, is appearing a lot lately in the media.
6334  Economy / Economics / Re: BlackRock’s CIO Says Bitcoin Could Replace Gold on: November 21, 2020, 04:36:22 AM
Lately we haven't stopped hearing news like this, instead of hearing that bitcoin is a fraud as Jamie Dimon from JP Morgan did, and ended up buying bitcoin.

I wonder if we are in a capitulation phase in which the representatives of the centralized powers have already realized that they are not going to be able to defeat bitcoin and all they can do is join the cult.
6335  Economy / Economics / Re: Is corona virus crisis changing economical equations around the world? on: November 21, 2020, 04:30:06 AM
I find what you ask a silly question.

Of course the biggest pandemic in 100 years has changed the economy around the world. Also, it is evident that some countries have managed their finances better than others during this pandemic, like they do as usual.
6336  Economy / Speculation / Re: When do you think it will be a good moment to sell some of my bitcoin? on: November 20, 2020, 05:09:30 AM
I've seen some interesting replies here. Sorry that I don't have any more merits because if I had, I would have given some to other replies.

Among all the replies, I think I'm going to go for this one:

Forget timing the market. Time yourself.

Set an amount in fiat that will fulfill all of your requirements along with the proportion of your BTC you're willing to give up to get it. When it reaches those figures then sell it regardless of what the market is looking like.

If you are in any way hesitant then you have clearly not settled on the amounts you're comfortable with.
6337  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Poker Probability on: November 20, 2020, 05:04:45 AM
I take it that table is talking about getting those hands at the flop if you play Texas Holdem or before discarding if you play 5-card draw.

One thing I've learned over the years is that unlikely events occur.

The likelihood of those hands is not as important as how strong is your hand compared to your rival's.

According to the table, a straight has 0.3925% chance to occur and a flopped flush 0.1965%. I see flopped straights or flushes almost every day.

If you play a couple of thousand hands a day on average you are going to see a lot of those unlikely events to occur.
6338  Other / Off-topic / Re: How many hours you sleep in this Pandemic Situation? on: November 19, 2020, 04:19:48 AM
It hasn't changed my sleeping habits at all.

I usually sleep between 6 and 7 hours. Sometimes a little less but if I sleep less than 6 hours I don't feel rested. The pandemic has not affected me in this way at all.
6339  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Pfizer plans to include microchips in vaccine?? on: November 19, 2020, 04:15:32 AM
I haven't heard of that (Pfizer plans to include microchips in vaccine).

If it's so easy to include them in vitamin B shots, insulin etc. we shouldn't worry about this vaccine, as far as microchips are concerned.

Although if such microchips were injected, it would be discovered at some point and would be a major public health scandal
6340  Economy / Speculation / Congrats to everyone for reaching $20k again. on: November 18, 2020, 04:56:45 AM
I'm just opening the post in advance.

It's been a long time HODLing, not selling a dime.

It's been worth it.

Cheers guys!
