6141  Economy / Speculation / Re: $80k within 6 weeks, new ATH October 2021 on: January 07, 2021, 05:11:26 AM
This is no man's land. In my book, hardly anyone has credibility.

The momentum is incredible, indeed. I've been considering the possibility of an April 2013-like run up (and subsequent consolidation) too. The best candidates based on the growth so far are March-April 2013 and April-May 2017. Both powerful, but the former went further, faster, in a much more spectacular blow-off top.

Does this mean we get another 83% crash after the first peak? Imagine running up to $140K then dropping back to $25K. That's the magnitude of April 2013. What a roller coaster that would be! Cheesy

Yes, the truth is that with the bull run, one does not stop seeing threads like this and it seems that people forget that at some point the price will have to come down. Usually if the price goes very high very fast, the crash will be worse also. The fundamentals are good, the current situation with institutional investors, shortage of supply, etc. too, but there may be something we are not considering now that will drive the price down.
6142  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 06, 2021, 09:00:12 PM
Another ATH? I've lost count of how many during this year already.

I may be wrong, but this looks like, unless a large asteroid impacts the earth, or something like that, we are going to go very high without drastic corrections (40/50%) during this year.
6143  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I miss the good old days on: January 06, 2021, 08:32:36 PM
I am sorry to hear your story, OP.

Any chance you can be more active in the forum and making a few bucks as well? Like joining or managing signature campaigns or escrowing again. That way you would be thinking about bitcoin in the present instead of missing it and also earning some.
He can do much better then these signature campaigns stuff because bitpop is PHP developer and very good in past I check his post history but sadly right now physically and mentally he is not good enough to do things for himself its really sucks feeling sad for him and more we cannot do any thing for this great bitcoiner.

Well, whatever. It doesn't have to be signature campaings, whatever he can do that makes him become involved with the community again and also earn some bitcoin. The problem is if he is not in the mood but it sometimes helps to have your mind occupied with something you like.
6144  Economy / Speculation / Re: WTF? Do you think a major Central Bank will close soon? on: January 06, 2021, 08:24:38 PM
I have just seen another video on the same channel and he has nuanced what he said that at first sight seemed crazy. He says that the central bank that has more numbers to close would be the ECB but to become another institution after bailing out. I don't believe what he says either,as he's playing the role of a media star giving great headlines but it makes more sense and is better understood. Just as he said the previous time, it seemed that the central bank was going to just close down and start being replaced by bitcoin.

His prediction of the maximum for this year: $230,000. It seems that he was right in his prediction for 2020.

By the way, I quite like the presenter.
6145  Economy / Speculation / Re: Can Bitcoin go below $20k? on: January 06, 2021, 05:14:09 PM
I think it is highly unlikely that it will go below $20k. First because what's happened in the previous cycles. Once the bitcoin broke the ATH after halving, it did not go back down below that ATH.

Second because I believe that institutional investors will not let it fall below that price. These investors are buying for hold for years, but even if we imagine that we will get to $100k very quickly, some might consider selling for profit. If you buy at $20k and it goes up to $100k you can sell and you have made a 5x. But to the extent that the price went down they would buy back, in my opinion

6146  Economy / Economics / Re: Market Cap Crypto VS Biggest Companies on: January 06, 2021, 05:08:27 PM
Well, if most predictions come true, and we surpass 100k in this cycle the market cap for bitcoin would be $ 2,000 B, surpassing Google, Facebook, Amazon etc. It is a huge deal.

The total MC is really around that amount on the infographic, but it should be noted that 2/3 of that amount is what it refers to Bitcoin, and that another $150 billion belongs to the first two followers on the list. Although people like to play with numbers, most altcoins is actually pretty worthless, and it is very easy to manipulate with all those numbers. If a coin (and I won’t name it) has a circulating supply of over 100 million and a vague max supply, then it’s no different from fiat - virtual printing of new coins and pumping values lead to total market cap pumping.

I totally agree.

Even Bitcoin MC is not something we can take as a precise number, because if only 1 million BTC is lost forever, the value of MC would be lower for around $34 billion.

I'm not so sure about that. I agree that MC is somewhat vague but scarcity pushes the price up, so I think the lost bitcoins are somehow reflected in the price. I believe that institutional investors who are buying bitcoins take into account that there is a limit of 21 million to the creation that there are already some lost, plus those that can be lost along the way.

6148  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The gambler who manages to beat the casino through cheating on: January 06, 2021, 08:14:42 AM
Well, I'm not surprised that most of them are cheaters. If everything is correct, the casino has a positive mathematical expentacy with every play, while the player has a negative one. Only counting cards in the past and those imperfections found by the Pelayos brothers could beat the casino but I think it's nearly impossible nowadays, unless someone finds a way to somewhat hack the online casinos software.
6149  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gamblers - How do you use your signature campaign earnings? on: January 06, 2021, 08:10:26 AM
I don't gamble. I just play poker in fiat sites because the crypto sites don't have nearly as much traffic, good software etc. For the moment, I save my signature campaign earnings because they are just pennies but if the future I may spend some. I just don't treat my sig campaign earnings differently from my bitcoin holdings. I plan to sell as price increases when some milestones are reached.
6150  Other / Off-topic / Re: How to overcame high blood pressure? on: January 05, 2021, 08:12:57 PM
I agree with 1, lose weight.

I partially agree with 2, as we don't have the same concept of eating healthily. For me it would be to eat three times a day maximum but with no whole grains, better if it's high in natural healthy fats, but as long as it's unprocessed food, I'm OK.

3 OK.

4 I disagree. I've read what the American Heart Association says and what dr Jason Fung (and others) say and I believe the latter.

5 I agree.

6 I agree.
6151  Economy / Speculation / WTF? Do you think a major Central Bank will close soon? on: January 05, 2021, 08:02:35 PM
Max Kaiser says that "one of the major Central Banks will close in 2021-2022, utterly and completely".

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_VcOjre9h60

Is this guy high? Is he an idiot or what? If he turns out to be right I'll admit it and I will take him into great consideration but I think he is just nuts.

I don't know much about him, apart from the fact that he is well known in the cryptocurrency space. I've googled about him and found that there is no middle term: some people love him and some people hate him.

Here we have an old bitcointalk thread about his credibility:

Why does Max Keiser still have any credibility?

Anyway, in that video he says that one of the major Central Banks will close in 2021-2022 and that will start a transition post-central banks.

The idea sounds good to me but I don't expect it so soon.

He sounds to me like quack.

Nice but it's old. Bitcoin marketcap surpassed BH one like 5 days ago:

‘Rat poison squared’ Bitcoin passes Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway by market cap.

Current BTC market cap is $602,229,921,514, about to eat Tesla.
6153  Economy / Speculation / Re: Yes, you who are waiting, what is your excuse now? on: January 05, 2021, 03:48:53 AM
The people you are addressing probably won't read the post. They are also more likely to buy expensive and sell when it goes down because they get scared, as extasie says, which is the opposite of what you should do. The excuse for not buying this dip is the same as for not buying at $4-5k in March: for them it looks like the world is going to end.

LOL

Are we dead already?

I think I was lucky. I sold some bitcoin when we passed the 20k mark and then I sold some more at around 34k. Not selling anything else until we get to $50k. No matter if we stay in a bear market for years. If that is the case, I'll keep accumulating.

 Grin Grin Grin

Not that I'm saying this is going to happen. It's just what I would do in the worst-case scenario. I think it will take a year at least to enter a bear market.

And, according to your previous post, we're not going to reach $50k before going into bear? Pfff.....  Grin

No. Read again. Or stop smoking pot, lol.

Maybe it's just me or bad wording but I got it like that. Or maybe you can explain what you were trying to say?  Cool

Maybe a bit of both. First I was laughing because the weak hands are going to think that we are going to die. So in a day like this they will sell. O the contrary, I will only sell when certain milestones are reached, like I have already done. Next one is $50k.

So, I believe this is a small, natural, healthy correction, but even if this turned into a nightmare and we went into a bear market, which I don't believe it is likely, I would keep my strategy and I wouldn't sell a dime until we reached $50k.

Maybe I tried to be sarcastic but it didn't work.

Well this is all rather special isn’t it.

Just remember, only sell when it really works for you. This bull run has only just started, we have so much more scope for price discovery.

Quick reminder -

The mindrust indicator

10BTC he sold for $40,000 combined in March/April would now be worth $330,000.

Be smart, don’t mindrust!

I keep harping on about that:

Don't sell according to the price. Sell only when necessary.

It can be necessary to have sold at a "high" price to survive the depressing times of low prices, even if you don't need to (still have a job paying the bills, for example). And use that fiat to buy back during these lows. Of course it's still a gamble so only to do with a small part of one's stash.

What I have done and will continue to do is only sell part of it when it reaches certain milestones. So I will always be invested in bitcoin.

That way you enjoy part of the profit while keeping the buying power in bitcoin, or you increase it even if the price keeps going up despite selling.

Although it is obvious that if you don't sell anything at all it will be more profitable

6160  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Buy or hold beginner - not only Bitcoin on: January 04, 2021, 08:38:27 AM
My recommendation is that you buy and hold for the long term and don't try to time the market in the short term. You can mark a few milestones to sell partially, though.

You talk about Ethereum. Have you studied it? Do you think it will be more valuable in 5, 10 years? If the answer is yes, Hold.

Yesterday I bought ETH worth of 160$ when it was worth 800$. Now it is over 1000$ and I know it's going to rise even more by the end of the month. Is it better to sell it now for 1000$ and buy back as much as or hold it by the end of the month? Which will make more profit? Thanks a lot!

With such a small sum, I would, as I said, hold, and I would try to add moremoney regularly. Trying to buy and sell with that small capital and the lack of knowledge you show,  it will lead you in 99% of the cases to lose money.

I understand that you are maybe from a poor country or don't have much money, but if you've invested $160 that should be because you don't need them. Try to invest some more money you don't need until you gather a decent stash.

Buying and holding is more boring that trading short-term but it is more profitable in the vast majority of cases. Especially in your case.
