You're totally incomprehensible.

LOL. Although I wouldn't say totally, as you and others have answered what I was asking.

What exactly are you worrying about? Whether or not you are identifiable if you make transactions from the address you received your sig campaign BTC on?

Whether I am identifiable if I make any transactions, not only from that address

But this sounds more like a topic for Beginners & Help.

I agree and I have moved the topic. Before opening it I was wondering whether to do it there.

You should be. Once a link is made, it can never be undone. Let's say you make a transaction now that could identify you, for example from your the address linked somewhere on the forum to an exchange such as Coinbase, and it'll forever annoy you.

Let's say that no transactions I have done are linked with my real identity, with my real name. I think they could still be traced via IP address right?

That's a good privacy precaution, that is, if I'm understanding you correctly, but it practically does nothing to hide the source of your funds.

You've understood correctly. No, I'm not worried about the source. Actually the sending address of those funds start like this "bitvestxxxxx..." so it's pretty clear where those funds come from.

If you're concerned about privacy, just use the mixing service or a wallet that generates a new address after having a transaction.  Many of us here prefer to use Electrum since it is free and easy to use, this wallet has a feature of generating a new address for you after sending or receiving Bitcoin and the older deposit address will still work or any that has generated will reuse if you want.

Yes but that's not infallible either, is it? First because the Electrum node(s) I connect to knows my IP and the addresses I own.

Also, if I have an address with 0.01 BTC that's linked to my real identity and I only want to make transactions of 0.02 BTC or higher, at some point I'll have to use that addres mixed with others to send funds so the others will be linked to me also.
My question is, why you worried about your Bitcoin transaction?
It will not directly link to your real identity unless if you are using a custodial wallet which is there are alternatives that possibly will help you not connect with that wallet, mixing service is the best for you.

Not too worried really, as I said, I don't hold a lot of funds. It's just that I have been reading about it and I guess too many questions have arised while I was reading the info.

Thanks
6203  Other / Beginners & Help / A couple of questions about privacy on: December 29, 2020, 09:13:22 PM
I have been reading about transactions, privacy, coin control etc. The truth is that until now I haven't worried much, but a couple of doubts have arisen.

The first one: if you don't have much bitcoin and you haven't done many transactions, you should be very worried about it?

The second one: would it be a good idea for example that what I earn with the signature campaigns goes to the same address and I use that address to send bitcoin without mixing with other of my addresses?

In other cases I think it will be unavoidable to use different addresses for sending bitcoin if you have little money in the addresses and want to send more.

6204  Other / Off-topic / Re: Are you budgeting? What tool are you using? on: December 29, 2020, 06:45:39 PM
I do it manually I don't use any tools to do it,
I make plans and divide all my salary on a piece of paper and try to go along with it.
Of course there are times when I would be force to overspend my money because of some emergencies.

Similarly, I do budget but I'm not a freak. I just use an excel to keep record of my expenses so I can plan properly. When I started budgeting I kept record of all my expenses but now I know more or less what I spend. I only revise and write down expenses on certain categories if my spending habits change or when I believe prices have gone up more than 10% in that category, as I always budget a 10% extra of what I usually spend.

OP, you say you are budgeting because your personal finance is not that good but you would be surprised about how many people keep budgeting even after year of being in a comfortable position.
6205  Economy / Speculation / Re: When will bitcoin price start Falling? on: December 29, 2020, 06:33:12 PM
For me, there is no point in trying to guess when bitcoin price will fall if you want to buy, because I hold long-term. If you are trying to trade you should know more about the subject than you seem to by asking that question. Otherwise you are trying to play a crystal-ball game.
6206  Other / Meta / Re: Posting/reporting limits on: December 28, 2020, 06:04:09 AM
But are you talking about reporting posts of the same user? If I see they are bots/spammers and their post history is crap I just report one and tell moderator to look at their post history. Whenever I've checked afterwards, they've nuked them.
6207  Other / Meta / Re: Spam all over the forum on: December 28, 2020, 05:59:32 AM
I don't know if the attack speed of the bots has accelerated but there have been three commenting in a short period of time in the WO thread (already reported and dealt with). Then if we see the threads opened in meta I would say so because people are busy reporting:

Posting/reporting limits

Spam and plagiarism

Please block the user @taatacycsa.

I can only understand OP because his nickname is @Lmaooo so he is joking. Or maybe he opened the post in advance to today, which is fool's day in certain countries. Anyway, as it has been pointed out, it is quite laughable to talk about a bear market just because a very small short-term correction.
6209  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 28, 2020, 05:17:42 AM

crazy newbie posting above   ...some kinda code lurking in there folks...do be careful...no clicky clicky

hmmmm

They are bots. That one is the same as the one after, who I'm not even going to bother quoting. Just keep reporting them, as I've already done. There is a thread in meta about it.
6210  Other / Meta / Re: Spam all over the forum on: December 27, 2020, 06:27:37 PM
I'm pretty new here myself, but already getting fed up with the amount of spam.

I think the mods should consider stopping creation of new accounts for a while.

That would temporarily stop new spam-bot accounts being created and then what? When new accounts were allowed again we would have the same problem. Even more if they are bots. I reported a bunch of them, in some cases I'm not sure if they are stupid people or bots.
6211  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC 340k USD Q1 2022 on: December 27, 2020, 06:19:04 PM
I think this will be the top. Whats your speculation?

I haven't reported the thread because this is the speculation section but it would be good in the future if you give some reason, even 1, why you think that will be the case.

As I said in another thread, one can clearly see that we are in a bull market, not only because of the price but also because these kind of threads.

I hope you are right OP, even if that prediction came out of inside your ass.
6212  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The 4 steps of the bitcoin boom. on: December 27, 2020, 06:10:20 PM
I think the average joe buys Bitcoin at all price points directly or indirectly. Let's not forget that pension funds are managed by institutions. So the contributions employees make on a monthly basis could go into buying BTC as well. I think I have heard of one company that does that, but I don't remember which one was it.

Once Bitcoin reaches some of those higher numbers (6-7 figures) only big pockets could drive the price up fast. Otherwise we will have a steady growth. Smiley

Which will be good because it will make the price more stable.

As for OP's idea, not bad for having just his mind as the source of it but I'm sure reality will be more complicated than that. Phases will be more mixed I suppose, not a straight line.
6213  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will institutional investors kill the four year boom/bust cycle? on: December 27, 2020, 10:18:39 AM

I just read his twitter where he talks about it and I quoted him in the WO thread, but anyway, we should not forget that it is normal to see these theories in a bull market.

In a bear market these theories are either not said or go unnoticed. Having said that, I hope he is right.

If I have understood you well, you are saying that these parabolic moves up won't happen because institutional investors will help stabilize the market. So you are not so bullish as him

6215  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It is pointless if the BTC fees increases along with rise in BTC price! on: December 27, 2020, 09:03:43 AM
It is not pointless if bitcoin is the best store of value in the world. To be a p2p electronic cash system it is a problem indeed but even if this problem weren't solved by lightning network I wouldn't worry much. Bitcoin may differ from the original idea Satoshi had.
6216  Economy / Speculation / Re: Oh BTC crossed 25k on: December 27, 2020, 07:28:52 AM
So, bitcoin already crossed $26k, and it's the new ATH now.

Actually, current price is around $27,6k on bitstamp right now. Yes, going up very fast, it feels like too fast.

Now I'm just hoping this price level will hold for a while.  No doubt this market has sucked in a lot of speculators who get in and out of the market quickly and don't intend to hold bitcoin for the long term.  All it would take for bitcoin to crash would be for a chain reaction of selling orders to happen in sufficient volume--and I'd really like 2021 to not be a repeat of 2017.  Keeping my fingers crossed on that.

At some point  we are going to have dips but I'm positive and think that we are not going to have a bear market soon. I think we will reach much higher prices before that. Most analysis predict we are in a similar situation to 2016, not 2017. I believe, and hope, they are right.
6217  Other / Meta / Re: Ledger database leak --> Phishing on: December 27, 2020, 06:05:53 AM
I received no response from them regarding my request to have my data deleted. I just put them on junk mail list. All ledger emails no matter if they are legit or not and I have uninstalled Ledger Live. I don't know if this is too paranoid but I don't want them knowing how much I have (which is not a lot btw). I just don't want to have to deal with them any more.

6218  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 27, 2020, 06:03:57 AM
It seems we are going to $27k non-stop. At this pace $30k doesn't seem so crazy before 2021. It's just an 11% increase.

Next time I check the price we've reached $27,220 on bitstamp. Let's see how far this goes. At some time it will have to correct, for sure. Let's hope it's something like from $40k to $28k, a 30% retreat.
6219  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin mixers on: December 27, 2020, 05:51:58 AM
Mixers are really not needed anymore. If you want to mix your coins, simply register with any exchange, send your coins to them, create a new wallet, and withdraw your coins from the exchange to that wallet. Bam! Your coins are now untraceable.

Unless your exchange knows who you are. Then authorities could pressure the exchange into giving them records of your transactions.

1. There are plenty of exchanges where all you need to register is a username, email and password.  Use an anonymous email account & password, and there is no way to trace who you really are.

2. Even if you register your real name, address, phone number, etc. with an exchange, why can't you send them overseas to a foreign exchange, where your local "authorities" have no jurisdiction?

I really don't think it's as hard as people think to anonymize your coins.

Wouldn't it be better to do it using a crypto casino instead of an exchange? I've always thought that the moment you deposit your coins get mixed so it would do a similar function to mixers. Most crypto casinos are non-kyc.
