6301  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Adoption: Universities now Accepting Bitcoin for Tuition Payment? on: December 02, 2020, 05:08:26 PM
Although I see the list of those universities as positive, I'm sorry to say that I think the adoption of those kinds of payments in the rest of them is going to be very slow.

I understand that the ones that have accepted these types of payments are private institutions at least in their majority and have very open-minded people among the governing board.

In public universities, the acceptance of this type of payment is not going to happen soon and much less in mass, because they can not make their payments in bitcoin, and accepting that currency is like investing in a high-risk asset, with high volatility especially in the short term.
6302  Other / Meta / Re: Stake your Bitcoin address here on: December 01, 2020, 06:35:33 PM
I was about to sign a message to post it here but it seems that it's not possible to do it with ledger live
Ledger Live has a terribly limited interface. Something as simple as creating a new receiving address isn't even possible. But it can be linked to Electrum. That puts Electrum in read-only mode, and you'll need to sign transactions on the Ledger. Try it if you haven't used it yet, you should be able to sign a message from Electrum. It also gives you back coin control.

Thanks a lot for the info but I'll do something better. I'm going to buy a Trezor. I'll keep the Ledger as a secondary wallet but I'm pissed off with them.
6303  Other / Meta / Re: Stake your Bitcoin address here on: December 01, 2020, 05:24:37 PM
I was about to sign a message to post it here but it seems that it's not possible to do it with ledger live whereas it was possible with the old APP.

Really? Are they so dumb? First they were hacked and since then I keep getting phishing scam emails and now this?
6304  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC technicals are against ATH. Liquidate on: November 30, 2020, 06:09:30 PM
BTC technicals are against $20,000. I don't think holding now is a good idea.
Maybe a good idea is to move the money from BTC to altcoins.

If BTC breaks $21,000 confirming a breakout, media will write about BTC and move retail investors will flow in. Then get in.
I think for now, the best idea is to liquidate BTC. And move to alts.

What's your take and why?

Happy to discuss!

LOL. I'm going to swap my bitcoin for some shitcoins ASAP just because you say technicals are against it.

Not a chance.
6305  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin retirement account on: November 30, 2020, 04:42:20 PM
I simply think there is no point in saving bitcoin for retirement if you don't hold your private keys. You can have a 401k o similar retiring instruments but if you want to have some bitcoin of part of you retirement plan you'd better have them in your private wallet. However, I am sure it will become common in the future years as there are a lot of people who don't care about their private keys and just want an institution to complain to if something goes wrong.
6306  Other / Off-topic / Re: Income from Bitcoin investment on: November 30, 2020, 04:35:28 PM
You can lend BTC on exchanges for margin trading. As you say, it's "safe", AKA not 100%, but not too bad. Anything involving an altcoin or DEFI is much riskier IMHO.

But to be honest to me the only way (aside from signatures campaigns here) is to have a regular fiat paying job, buying some BTC every month, and hodling that, until one day your stash is worth enough to retire on.

As OP is asking about income, I think another two options would be to deposit bitcoin in freebitco.in, which pays a 4% annual fee, but paying the proportional part daily, or invest in the bankrolls of crypto casinos.

But neither option is "safe".

It is much better to hold bitcoin and wait for the return by capital appreciation.
6307  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin hitting ATH right now? on: November 30, 2020, 04:19:04 PM
Yes but it has bounced back a bit. There is a resistance between $19,5-20k as there are many sell orders in that range. Above 20k there aren't nearly as many so I think once we pass that mark we will get easily to 25k or so.
6308  Other / Off-topic / Re: i trust more bankers and banks then bitcoin on: November 29, 2020, 06:16:11 PM
so what we do about this?

and im still in bitcoin forum Cheesy  if something is going on with my money i can call to bank 24/7 and asking whats going on they always pick up the phone Smiley
if bitcoin goes down i cant call to nowhere...

so banks and bankers are the best and winners in this case agaisnt the bitcoin and crypto:)

So, what?

I don't know what you are doing in this forum then.

By asking that question you are showing that you don't understand anything.

6309  Other / Off-topic / Re: Are there any proof of covid are real? on: November 29, 2020, 05:00:46 AM

The easy beginning of the answers to some of your questions, is to ask the real question that the thread title should ask. "Is there any proof that Covid is Covid?" Think about it.

Cool

Well, it's funny because I've seen the same argument about AIDS. As I said, I don't know much about viruses or medicine but I've seen people denying that AIDS is a result of a virus.

there have been thousands upon thousands of scientific procedures and all prove its real.
please stop getting your stupidity from conspiracy sites. - Except for one major thing. franky1 has been unable or unwilling to show us the part of even one scientific procedure that isolates the virus according to accepted standards, where there can be no contamination, and where the isolated virus was injected (as accepted standards require) into a bunch of test subjects, and they got sick from it, and the virus was re-isolated from each of them, and was found to be the same virus. Anybody can talk. Let's see the researchers doing the full process.

My question then is: how come most doctors don't speak out publicly against this deception? Are they all paid by Big Pharma? I find that hard to believe. There are only a few who contradict the official version.
6310  Other / Off-topic / Re: Are there any proof of covid are real? on: November 28, 2020, 08:43:06 AM
-snip

Without going to the extremes that you go to, this whole thing smells bad to me. Nor do I have the knowledge that you seem to have.

But there are several things that are suspicious: the detected cases of flu have dropped drastically this year. Some people say it's because of hygiene measures, such as washing your hands and wearing masks but why are the cases of coronavirus still on the rise? The symptoms are similar.

It smells bad.

On the other hand: I know of several cases of people living with people with coronavirus and they don't catch it. They continue to be negative after several tests, but isn't it so contagious that we have to wear masks?

And finally: how quickly the vaccines will be marketed, which will give juicy profits to the pharmaceutical companies and the exemption of responsibility to the latter if there are harmful effects in the long term.

6311  Other / Off-topic / Re: Are there any proof of covid are real? on: November 27, 2020, 05:27:41 PM

Yes, I agree with that. What I believe is that is has been exaggerated though.

Btw franky1: I replied to you precisely on this subject here and you haven't said anything. I don't know if you didn't see it. Anyway I'd be interested in what you think. We may not agree but you give good arguments to defend what you say.
6312  Economy / Speculation / Bitcoin is going to go to 0 on: November 27, 2020, 05:10:43 PM

C'mon, sell everything.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i8vf9zHV3S0

LOL

P.S. Following philipma1957's discovery that I'm a jinx, I open this post to make the price go up.
6313  Economy / Speculation / Re: Congrats to everyone for reaching $20k again. on: November 26, 2020, 04:55:55 PM
^Did this post jynxed the price Cheesy lol.

Yes Smiley I am tempted to open another one saying: "Bitcoin it's going to go to 0" so the price goes up very fast.

Looking at the price, it was almost breaking the ATH barrier before this post was created but we have stabilized over 19k and still failed to break over, we are sooooo close and we are still yet to break over it. I know this topic had nothing to do with it and it can't impact the market that much, I just wanted to show the coincidence of the moments between starting this topic and bitcoin failing.

There is no worry though, while we are THIS close, I doubt we won't be seeing higher levels, I am confident enough to see 30k after we break over 20k, it is going to be a psychological barrier where people didn't really believe we will see it ever again, after we break it the Pandora's box will be opened and we will go to 30k non-stop.

Yes, I think exactly the same. There might be another approach to 20k and another bounce back though. I've watched this video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WorKn4nmfWs

He analyzes the market between 2014 and 2017 and shows there were two approaches to the old ATH and two bounces back before the ATH was clearly broken and the price went parabolic. This time there might be three, who knows. There are many sell orders in between $19,500 and $20,000. Once we pass the $20 barrier there are nearly as many so that's why I agree with you that when we clearly break that resistance we can go to 25k or 30k easily.
6314  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Argentina raises Gambling tax on: November 25, 2020, 11:10:06 AM

What are your thoughts on this ??

I support regulation but the higher the taxes the worse for the business.

Argentina is in a desperate situation with a high inflation currency. The government is desperate to try get more money while it keeps spending way more than it can raise in taxes.

Due the regulation casinos will earn less, people will lose more and the government will get some money but at a expense of a declining business as a result.
6315  Economy / Speculation / Re: Congrats to everyone for reaching $20k again. on: November 25, 2020, 10:50:57 AM
Finally bitcoin could drop eventually, we are aware of that and everyone knows that there is no way that bitcoin could continue to go up without interruption forever. However we are also aware that it may not be right now, I understand that there are tons of people who are afraid of the fact that bitcoin could drop tomorrow and could worth something very tiny, like maybe half of right now, and I am not saying it is impossible.

Well, it is obvious that it's going to drop at some point. However, this trend seems to me healthier than the one three years ago (jinx Smiley).

All I am saying is, maybe we will continue to grow until $25k or even $30k? We can still drop, but why think that drop will be right away instead of thinking drop could be after we reach $25k? We could go to $25k from here and drop to 10k after that, which I think is quite possible. This is why I suggest people to put like 20% drop stop loss and keep buying.

That depends a lot everyone's personal situation but I think it is better to just buy and hold or keep holding and sell a small percentage when milestones are reached as I commented before. If you think that bitcoin is going to keep going up in the long term (jinx, lol) it's better not to worry about the drops.

6316  Economy / Speculation / Re: Congrats to everyone for reaching $20k again. on: November 25, 2020, 05:50:33 AM
In this case, the OP had previously opened a thread where he planned to sell near $20K. Now he's celebrating $20K before the fact and not planning to sell anything. Let's see what happens. Tongue

NO.

Read again.

I read it again:

"Congrats to everyone for reaching $20k again."

"Not selling a dime."

Still getting the same impression. Just calling it like I see it. Tongue

Anyway, no need to take offense. It was just a comment on sentiment. I often like to take note of my own sentiment during strong trends. I find that when I'm feeling greedy and scared to sell deep into a rally, a harsh correction is usually close.

I meant that it was worth not selling during all this time. As a result of the other thread you were mentioning I decided I will sell just a small percentage of my holdings when the price reaches a certain amount in equivalent fiat. If it keeps going up, I will keep selling when some milestones are reached, but always a small percentage, while keeping invested.

I never planned to sell everything btw.

I would say this thread marks a long correction to under 15k and we don't ever hit the 20k.

I will say it again: LOL. Do you think I am so powerful?

The vibe created in assuming 20k was destiny is okay but to print it on the internet was terrible terrible karma  very disappointed to see it. To make things worse it is now feeding into a second chicken counting thread.

This thread link is to an older thread started on Nov 5th

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5286880.0

Our only hope is for the threads to be locked and tossed into archive section.

Well it was a nice run.

Now that it is over when do you all decide to sell at 16k or let it drop more to 14k.

Shame shame on all you chicken counters. Wink

I want some of that weed you are smoking. I'd laugh even more.

And for both of you: the thread was started no matter when we reach 20k. A similar one could be opened today congratulating people for reaching 100k but I'm not going to open it so philipma1957 doesn't get paranoid while he smokes pot thinking we will never reach 100k because I opened that thread.

LOL.
6317  Economy / Speculation / Re: Congrats to everyone for reaching $20k again. on: November 24, 2020, 04:39:43 PM
Jinx

My thoughts exactly! Cheesy

This is often how it goes. You plan on buying into a crash, but then you chicken out when it actually happens out of fear. As it turns out, that was probably the bottom. Or you plan on selling into strength, but chicken out at the last minute out of greed, thinking the price can't possibly fall. But then it does.

In this case, the OP had previously opened a thread where he planned to sell near $20K. Now he's celebrating $20K before the fact and not planning to sell anything. Let's see what happens. Tongue

NO.

Read again.

I will say it again jinx.

LOL.

6318  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 24, 2020, 08:43:04 AM
OK, it's Altcoin season again.

That's why Bitcoin is a bit stale in the last few days.

Shouldn't take too long before Altcoins get dumped again and the money flows back into Bitcoin ;-)

I think it's the other way about. Alts are going up because bitcoin is a bit stale.
6319  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 24, 2020, 05:37:13 AM
I was just thinking...
Nice seeing lots of new faces migrating to the wob.
OG'S  be on your best behaviour. (yeah, that's a memo to myself too.)
I do believe in the coming months/years  this thread is going to become the main goto
for all the new folks piling in as Bitcoin and this thread continues its epic journey.

Actually I think this is the best thread on the forum, as it combines news, predictions, fun and even aspects of personal life.

I was reading it for a long time before commenting for the first time.  But, yes, if the price explodes, I think there may be an explosion of new commentators here. I suppose it was harder to be here during the bear market these past years.
6320  Other / Off-topic / Re: Healthy Peoples Don't Die on COVID-19 on: November 24, 2020, 05:23:30 AM
Ofcourse. I actually prefer natural treatments to diseases. Herbs, fruits, vegetables etc for treating many diseases exist. The important thing is where to find them and how to take them safely(without abuse).

Working hard (or exercising) is also very important. From my experience, herbs, fruits, vegetables and other foods tend to work better, taste better, feel satisfying after I have worked really hard (esp after working hard for people)

It is best not to work too hard as it can put stress on your immune system and weaken it. Just do moderate exercise. As for the rest, it would be good also to get some sun but I understand it is difficult as Winter is coming in the Northern Hemisphere.
