6061  Economy / Economics / Re: Trading Bitcoin in Africa Is a Way for Some to Escape Poverty on: January 25, 2021, 04:33:22 AM
That article is bull crap actually. As many of those articles in crypto news sites.

Considering than 80% of traders lose money and that in markets like forex numbers go up to 90% or more losers, we can guess that for people trading Bitcoin numbers are pretty much the same.

In other words, the article presents the pretty face of someone who is poor and has been able to make a living trading Bitcoin but does not present the bad side of all those who, on top of being poor, got into Bitcoin trading and lost money.
6062  Other / Politics & Society / Re: ... Vitamin-D Rollout following 82% reduction in COVID-19 deaths in Spain on: January 24, 2021, 03:55:48 PM
Yes, I've talked about that in other posts but no, you won't see the authorities implementing vitamin D-boosting plans.

Vitamin D boost your inmune system. People with high vitamin D levels very rarely get colds or the flu and, if they do, they have few symptoms and of short duration. This can also be applied to Covid: you can find dozens of studies in Pubmed showing that people with high vitamin D levels either don't get COVID or they have few symptoms. On the contrary, people most of those who die from COVID have low to very low vitamin D levels.

You can find many scientiphic articles on: https://vitamindwiki.com/

Big pharma isn't interested in this because vitamin D is free if you get it from the sun and supplements can be bought in herbal stores.
6063  Economy / Economics / Re: What's going to be impact of this tragic event in India's economy? on: January 23, 2021, 10:54:48 AM
Well, as unfortunate as it is that these people died, as the article says, it's not going to affect production, so I think the impact on the Indian economy is going to be minimal. It was just a new facility they were building that is has been burnt but the company has said that they can use other available facilities.

Congratz to the US for officially being a communist country now. I think we can call it USASR.

6065  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Anyone else still regret not buying Bitcoin in 2011? on: January 23, 2021, 10:23:00 AM
In my case, I didn't know about Bitcoin in 2011. I learned of its existence back in 2016 and bought some. If you look back you may think that if you had bought more, you would have more profit now. But I have no regrets.
6066  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is down a lot on: January 22, 2021, 08:31:49 AM
It's go down a lot. So, what?

Not long ago the price surpassed the previous ATH and we had a shor period of breaking ATH after ATH. It's not gonna keep going up without drawbacks. If you are a Hodler you shouldn't be worried.

As for the main reason of the recent dump, I agree with mk4:

As for why it dropped, the consensus of why it dropped is because of the recent double-spend FUD.
6067  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Investing in BTC or ETH or other? on: January 22, 2021, 07:55:24 AM
In my case, I'm 100% invested in Bitcoin. I don't hold any shitcoin but if I had to choose one it would be Ethereum not not so much for its characteristics as a currency as for its characteristics as a smart contrats platform.

OP: you don't need to choose one or the other, if you are undecided just split your investment.
6068  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How long before Greyscale start dumping? on: January 21, 2021, 05:13:59 PM
It's the other way around, it's very good for the ecosystem. If those institutions weren't buying we wouldn't have crossed $20k and without those institutions we won't reach $100k or $500k.

Those swings you are referring to are quite normal in terms of percentage as fas as Bitcoin is concerned but as the price is higher it's more shocking because you see more money moving up and down.

As for Grayscale and others I don't think they are going to sell before the price is much higher. They are going to hold a long time.
6069  Economy / Economics / Re: Will proposals to tax unrealized capital gains kill Bitcoin and other Cryptos? on: January 21, 2021, 08:45:06 AM
I have to agree with you, no matter the political party that you are in, it is all a shitshow because they all want to stay in power. Hopefully that this regulation does not come back to get reconsidered because it will only struck the medium range income earners and those below them, it will not affect the rich people as they say it on paper, rich people can always pay 0 dollars in taxes if they want to, I think the best course of action for this kind of farce is to specifically target the high income earners with a higher taxation without any possibility of writing it off or any other way.

That's always the case. A tax is announced for "the rich" and in the end it is paid by the middle class, when it doesn't end up being paid by the whole population. People who have many millions have great ease in moving around and moving their capital. If in the end this law is approved, it will not affect them.
6070  Economy / Speculation / Re: #Bitcoin is seeing the largest depletion of liquidity since years on: January 21, 2021, 08:33:49 AM

The most important point is the increase in demand, or at least the continuation of the current demand, so that there is an increase in the price, which seems to be growing.

I totally agree. I've just also merited a post about this in the WO thread. This is the key factor to the increase in price: depletion of liquidity+same demand or increasing demand can only make the price go higher and higher. Let's see how far this goes because at some point when the price is higher liquidity will increse. Let's hope it will be when the price is much much higher.
6071  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk Hall of Shame on: January 21, 2021, 08:27:07 AM
If I am allowed a second nomination, it would be for franky1, specifically for meeting all of the above criteria to a degree shared by few others, at least several thousand times.
Agree about this and his walls of text. I tried to discuss with hom several times, but soon I realized it's pointless thing and I just waste my time.

I agree also and I've put franky1 on ignore but I don't think he is the worst one.

What about this Laudanum who has even posted on this thread?

He argues his answers/threads a lot but I'm starting to get pretty tired of his walls of text and it seems he is alt of a troll (cryptohunter?).
6072  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Toronto women win jackpot lottery on: January 21, 2021, 08:20:00 AM
I would never choose the same numbers to play all the time because I have heard cases of people who did those and just the week they didn't play for whatever reason, those same numbers came out that week.

Besides, as the lottery is EV-, I hardly play.

Our giveaway thread even still on first page while it was created on 2013 back then, with more than 3700 posts, how can it be lack of promotion?

Yes but that's just because it keeps being bumped by bots, as there is no giveaway any more. That was commented on this same thread some comments back.
6074  Economy / Economics / Re: Does Bitcoin Help The Poor on: January 21, 2021, 08:09:43 AM
I agree with the views expressed above that it does not seem to help the poor much. One of the reasons I have not seen mentioned is the cost of fees. Bitcoin is very cheap if you want to move billions, but for small amounts, especially if you want to move them fast, it's expensive in percentage terms. In theory, Lighting Network will solve this, and there are some interesting projects like Strike, but we'll see.

6075  Economy / Services / Re: [Open] ▄■▀■▄ 🌟Bitvest.io🌟 - Plinko Sign Camp (Member-Hero Accepted)(New2) on: January 20, 2021, 07:02:55 PM

...
This is not the first time he post something like that. I warned him a couple of times but he continue to use Google translate and posting unrelated content in my threads. Moderators deleted some of his posts after my reports.
...

I don't think that's true at all. I PM'd campaign manager but he didn't bother about this problem. In fact this campaign has a lot of spammers.

Then I am sure Brainboss will act. I have see him kicking people out of the campaign for spamming, he puts it on the spreadsheet.

Another issue is that maybe he doesn't have the same idea of what quality/spamming is as you do. Maybe me neither.
6076  Economy / Services / Re: [Open] ▄■▀■▄ 🌟Bitvest.io🌟 - Plinko Sign Camp (Member-Hero Accepted)(New2) on: January 20, 2021, 06:02:55 PM
The user Lewan writes that he doesn’t like the football team, and five days later the opposite. Is not it shitposting? I think he’s setting a bad example for your campaign.

In my opinion, the teams that will pass the tour will be Galatasaray, Beşiktaş, Başakşehir and Sivasspor, respectively. Sivas sports achieves significant success in cup matches every year. Frankly, I do not trust Fenerbahçe. Galatasaray is the team of cups anyway.

Quarter-final qualifiers will start in February. I think the matches were good. I think the favorite teams will push it to the finals. My favorite is Fenerbahçe Cup, but time will tell what will happen.

As you have posted this here instead of sending a PM to the campaign manager I'll give my opinion.

If that's the only time he's kind of contradicted himself, that's not shitposting. He can change his mind in a matter of days.

Another thing is that it may sound like trying to comment on something no matter what because in the Gambling section posts are paid more. I very rarely post in the Gambling Section because of that. There are more people just trying to cover their post quota than there are trying to engage in actual discussion.

But campaign manager @Brainboss actively looks for spammers and kicks them out so he may act on this member.

I think there is another one worth putting on the list: Pizzalover420

Similar behavior to others quoted in the OP. I've seen him a couple of times before but now I've just decided to put him on ignore.

This happen today :
https://taxnews.ey.com/news/2021-0119-yellen-hearing-held-at-finance-committee-1-21-floor-vote-eyed
Quote
The Senate Finance Committee January 19 held a hearing on the nomination of Janet Yellen to be Treasury Secretary

And she is in favor of taxing annually on unrealized gains.

FYI:
This is just a heads up, so no one gets caught unaware at a future tax time.
Personally, I hope it never happens as it harms all sorts of people, but people need to be aware that some are planning it.

Source for that?

That idea is too communist, even for Biden. I don't think people in the USA are ready for that...yet. Maybe in 4 years' time.
6079  Economy / Speculation / Re: Best way to sell in 2021 — to buy more on the bear on: January 20, 2021, 03:52:54 AM
I agree with previous replies, just wait until the price is much higher and sell then. You don't need to sell everything though. Holding is the most profitable strategy. It is boring also, compared to buying and selling short-term but the changes you will be in profit are much higher.
6080  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Michael Saylor CEO of Microstrategy wants Elon Musk to talk about bitcoin on: January 20, 2021, 03:35:01 AM
Obviously what Sailor is looking for is to create institutional FOMO. He would like Musk to talk well about Bitcoin, even to say that he has Bitcoin or that he is considering buying, both for him and for his company. He said so explicitly in an earlier video. If Musk comes out and says he is considering buying Bitcoin for his companies, there would be a cascade effect of other companies rushing to buy.
