No idea if any of you guys follow twitter but apartently FirtsSquawk which is an individual that most people follow in the financial sector because they deliver important market events in real time. Its great to have them on your feed because you get up to the minute market events.

Earlier today they tweeted that "CME futures is going to launch Doge futures". And because of this Doge started to rally, or at least didnt tank like everything else. Now people are thinking they might be hacked because I don't think there is going to be a Doge futures on the CME. ETH I understand, maybe LTC or XRP. But I just don't see Doge making the cut.

the doge is out of the bag..it broke its all time high in (satoshi value) cryptsy LOL, anything can happen. maybe 1$ is not impossible anymore.

--snip--
they can crash this market 50%
--snip--

this can be played in a 6 month trap.

if we peak July to August, maybe the trap can be played at the end of 2021 - early 2022 --- imagine putting your money back at the end of the year thinking it recovered from July-august and the bull run is continuing to 2023? LOL @ future REKTards

6 months is a psychological shift--> it can convince you the market is still "okay"...happened in the 10k to 6k BTC drop, i think it is around a 6 month area before a flash crash, no matter how good of a trader you are, that can catch you  Grin

bull or bear....always watch out for a flash crash...another one bites the dust! REKT

how many had a psychological shift the past 6 months who got REKT'd?
543  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Until when? on: April 17, 2021, 01:30:41 PM
The bulls that have bought are the bears tomorrow, so at anytime, they can crash this market 50% in few minutes, people will not have even a chance to sell hehe, if you think this bullrun is crazy, you will see how the bearrun wil be as crazy or maybe even more crazy ehhe
Now I feel like digging into your past 😁, what happened? Have you lost some insane amount of money to crypto because your judgement is always different, you always talk about how crypto market will crash and many will cry or how miners are wasting their time buying GPUs, what's up really?

nobody here is unscathed LOL

metroid refuses to enter the "frenzy/crazy/illogical/stupid/less than 50 IQ" area of the market LOL ..anyway this is where you allocate a "moonbag" ..money is to be made or lost hehe

that red statement is now in play (ex. doge)...it is scary..sometimes you are too smart for your own good hehe keeping a moon bag and not succumbing to greed and cashing out is the golden rule at this time frame  Wink

gonna advise again on hardware wallets like trezor imagine hodling doge or btc on a mobile or desktop wallet for all those years? most probably you'll lost them on a hardware failure, malware/hack, or a 20% increase in price and you sold them..keeping those in a hardware wallet and putting it in a safe location might have saved you a fortune..

this is the part where you lose a significant amount of sleep, can't think straight sometimes hahaha

you all get rich  Grin and listen to metroid about greed.

The standard voltages on the power supply for the computer are 12, 5 and 3.3 V.
Yellow 12V
Black 0V
What is the voltage on the blue wire?
If 5 or 3.3 V then you can make an adapter.
Or use 2 power supplies. A special power supply for this motherboard, the other power supply for graphics cards.
So it's possible to use two power supplies on such motherboard like that? I have one that's close to OP description in my store, I don't bother to use since I believe it can never work for mining, such a shame the motherboard have 4 pice slots for gpu

it will work..

the other PSU should power only the risers and the GPUs
Are you sure that the gpu voltage and watt draw can be read by software when using second powersupply on such PC motherboard? I'm surprised you said this will work, I hope it won't damage any components most especially the GPUS

Yes, very sure..i have a rig config that way.

And for ddr2 c2d motherboard. I have the ones with molex power connector in them, no need to use that.

Corsair ax1500i is not compatible to that old motherboard so i used an old psu to power the system and an ax1500i for the gpus/risers

Mining is turning into a business for large companies. The heshrate is growing very much, so miners with a small number of video cards will soon not be profitable to mine.
Even now, so that the profit does not decrease, you need to buy new video cards every 2 weeks.
And also, many manufacturers produce special video cards for mining, so the Ethereum hash rate will grow rapidly.

in the not so distant past, small miners got rekt...now in the not so distant future large companies which are "into mining" will get rekt LOL  Grin
Home miners suffered losses in 2015 and 2018, when the profit from mining was very small. This situation may repeat itself and then large companies will also suffer losses. I read the news of large investors in mining, but they do not invest most of their funds and they do not plan to sell cryptocurrency at current prices.
Companies can afford a small loss for several years, and a home miner does not always have this opportunity.

it is the same, only the numbers are bigger with the "large investors".

the only exception is if they are like tesla or microstrategy that decided to mine instead of buying, more like a HODL strategy.
I think that you will agree that large investment companies have more opportunities, they have a lot of information and professionally assess their risks.
There are rumors about new miners for Ethereum from Bitmain, if this is true, then the payback period of video cards will greatly increase.

Yeah, anyone can asses risk. Look at phil, he got the risk well managed and will still be mining after a lot of miners here quit hehe

Gpus by the way are going for 200mhs, so the profit of 3090 now can be x2.

The eth hash algo does not put asic advantage to gpu by x10 so far..we will see.
547  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ROI minning on: April 16, 2021, 06:45:53 AM
Mining is a science related to the study of the amount of energy and effort in producing a currency and the return from that currency.
Electricity is one of the main parts of this investing but it is not the only one.
There is the cost of purchasing mining tools, maintenance, cooling, mining location, noise control, customs and legal restrictions and the rate of depreciation. If you do not manage all these risks, free electricity will not make you profit from mining.

Choosing the currency and studying it will help you choose the correct mining device and how to modify it to mine another currency if you did not succeed in taking advantage of the first.

Haha free electricity...and still risky  Grin

You can add "neighbors" too hehe

554  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum Difficulty on: April 12, 2021, 09:31:50 PM
Most likely given this huge hashrate, there is some mega efficient and fast ETH ASIC out there that is being put into production. This is similar to what happened back in 2018 when the hashrate went up so fast that they weren't producing GPUs fast enough to account for the increase. Then 3 months later we learn't of Bitmains ETH ASIC.

Given how there is a chip shortage and given how most GPUs on the planet are mining ETH there is no other explanation for this huge increase in hashrate. Another explanation can be that maybe there is some exploit similar to ASICboost for BTC. Maybe some farm found a way to get more hashrate out of their current GPUs so instead of mining at 30MH/s they maybe mine at 40MH/s with some GPUBoost for ETH. This is purely speculation however there is definately some farm out there which is at a huge advantage because this hashrate increase is unbelievable.
I have read somewhere the ETH developers were getting their hands on ASIC miners. Not sure if this is reliable or not. They have the money to do that if they wanted to. All this talk of a 51% attack probably made them concerned. So they are probably willing to pay to get enough hash rate to make sure this could not happen after they implement EIP 1559.

The guy who first suggested EIP 1559 has an agreement for asics that I think I heard was in place shortly before he suggested it.

I also think that the concerns you stated may be why linzhi never actually publicly sold their miners.  They had tapout I think in late 2018 and ordered 38 wafers for that run of machines and never publicly stating how much more they ordered or having talked about new development in their chips.

If a company spends $30m USD they can get around 1,600gh/s likely on ETH of the new Nvidia mining gpu's.  This is probably the lower end ones as delivery is fairly quick.

https://www.coindesk.com/hut8-nvidia-mining-gpu-purchase

Supposedly the GPU that runs Nvidia's A100 can do 210 mhs at around 250w.  Maybe all the University's and data centers that have these are also mining but still the difficulty has been going up significantly and consistently.  With the difficulty the average person has getting a new gpu it's likely most of this now has to be industrial mining.

https://www.pcgamer.com/nvidia-may-be-about-to-launch-a-dollar3000-gpu-that-puts-the-rtx-3090-in-the-shade/

This card at $3,000 might be intriguing and begs the question what else does Nvidia have in the pipeline at the $10k range?

so my prediction of 200mhs per card for hbm2e for amd will be competed by nvidia a100 hbm card with 200mhs too hehe.

amd should optimize the hbm2e card for ethash to outclass these a100's  Wink

Does it make any sense to wait for bear market to start building mining rigs instead? I know profits will be very very low but I'm running on free electricity which is green energy so I don't pay for electricity bill and another advantage that I think I would get here is getting the cards for cheap price

it is good to start now because you have free electricity, but gpu prices is fucked up right now...you do the math since prices are different around the world, you might get some good deals.

557  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 🌐 Filecoin Mining l Discussion on: April 11, 2021, 12:38:22 PM
ddr5 is coming that can do 512gb per module. at x4 slots that's 2TB of ram vs 128gb for x4 slot ddr4 max capacity (32gb per module).

that's at least an x10 more...mining VMs with quad lan cards.

ddr5 is a major leap that can outclass current miners by a magnitude...helps with competition, eth gpu mining is x2 over the previous generation, ddr4 is x2 capacity over ddr3. it is like an algo that got asic'd or fpga'd by the next generation.

gpu miners are always shunned when time comes specially when a coin gets a big enough, or fpga'd or asic'd. now..how can you asic and fpga mining that is basically 1PC = 1miner? or in the near future 1VM = 1 miner?

i really hope filecoin do really well.
558  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Number 9! Ninth altcoin thread. Back to the moon Baby! on: April 10, 2021, 12:46:24 AM
I have 2x 3090's and purchased warranty extensions from 3 to 5 years. cost 60 bucks 30+30

I consider it money well spent.

Those warranty extensions can smooth sail those 3090's to the next market cycle, unless something like hbm2e out perform the gddr6x's by a huge margin, but history shows top of the line cards like 3090 will hold mining value for quite a while..

Anyway ddr5 ram for servers can have up to 512gb per module(maybe desktop can have them too), if filecoin shows promise in bear market times, these ddr5 will surely outclass the ddr4' s mining right now, imagine around 4 to 8 VMs inside a rig mining filecoin hehe
559  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Number 9! Ninth altcoin thread. Back to the moon Baby! on: April 09, 2021, 11:07:18 PM
I have both nvidia and amd.

the amd 5000 series had very good value. the 6000 amd not much value but the 6700xt's are kind of okay.

The nvidia 3000 series is better.

3080ti is 12gb vram?? 1080ti 4 years ago is 11gb vram...something in nvidia is fucked up LOL, the lineage of the "...80ti's" is done for.

if someone plans to own a gaming gpu for the next ~3 years it is 3090...performance wise, you get what you pay for.
560  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: price of this on: April 06, 2021, 12:11:38 PM
3070 for 900eur is way too much for me, this is why I'm waiting for bear market to start buying better GPUs for mining, I'm running on solar power 24/7 and can't wait to build rigs at cheaper price in bear market, there is nothing better than buying at MSRP

keep an eye on those hbm2e's from amd then.
