So will we see a big give away with the coins that are left? Tongue Tongue

Wow, how can you even expect that?
Anyways, I am sure he has no plans to give it away. dooglus when do you plan to make the decision on reopening JD?

So if no one can claim coins in 5years, what happens to the coins? He keeps them?

I don't get it why he doesn't see facebook as an opportunity. Facebook will not get much further or higher than its current state but its certainly not dropping as well. As for gold can't say much as it is on downward pressure mainly due to hints by the feds that interest rate hike is in store pretty soon. For bitcoin, regardless of what others said I still hanging on to it.

I will be hanging on to bitcoin as well.
Gold has its ups and downs, but the volatility (and possible return) on bitcoin is much more.

Gold will return nicely and has less downside than Bitcoin but Bitcoin has definitely more potential, you could do x100 in a few years with Bitcoin when Gold will do x5
583  Economy / Economics / Re: Solution to poverty - Socialism or Capitalism? on: October 13, 2014, 11:29:41 AM
I love communism. It was paradise. The best economic system all time. Everybody was satisfied.
From what planet do you come from?
I guess from ex-USSR or some ally. In fact, many people here regret that communist regimes collapsed.

Who told you that communism collapsed? Communism betrayed by the secret agent of the Americans, Mikhail Gorbachev. Communism was perfect system. Capitalism is sick system.

You haven't lived in USSR or forgot how it was! It was horrible, communist is a failed system where humans pray on other humans

Pictures, diseases, what else?

Would it interest you to learn that starting today Google has allowed teens 16 years of age and older to upload nude videos of ONLY themselves (not of other people) on YouTube? <check this hot chick out with already 8M+ views in ONLY 5 hours> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ

lol get rick rolled!

Why didn't you answer the question above with a question?

He failed, didn't he?

When it has happened in the past it generally wipes out most life on Earth. No reason to think it will be different this time. Silly humans, always thinking the rules do not apply to them. Time to get schooled by mother nature.

Silly humans that think humans are bad for Earth and that they can predict the future
"…most life on Earth." (Emphasis mine.)

That poster was speaking to the organic lifeforms of earth, not the planet itself.

OK but higher levels of CO2 is not proved to wipe out most life on Earth quite the contrary since plants need CO2
586  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin or Gold? What would you pick? on: October 13, 2014, 11:27:48 AM
Gold is no better than BTC in terms of its value is based on what people will pay for it. Warrent Buffet refuses to invest in gold for that reason

There is no direct revenue from your holdings but buying Gold or Bitcoin are a great bet when you know the USD will collapse and the US and European State intervene too much in their respective economies which will have dire consequences for them
587  Other / Archival / Re: Updated Overview of Bitcointalk Signature-Ad Campaigns on: October 13, 2014, 11:25:40 AM
Signature campaign thread for Indonesia - For those of you that follow this thread closely, you may want to check out the above thread. As the title implies it is a cross post of this thread but for Indonesia. You may find out about a campaign prior to it being posted here. It does however appear to be somewhat out of date.

Lol, did they get permission to copy it from op here? I don't really see why they even need their own one as you don't need to understand English to work out the table and payments.

Is there any opening for a Junior Member?

There's spaces on that Greencoin one I believe but they don't seem to pay much.

0.12/month for 50posts is the highest paid signature or close to it!?
588  Other / Off-topic / Re: Your time machine is here...what year would you like? on: October 13, 2014, 11:23:58 AM

BitDice.me (Thread)
Minimum posts: You must post at least 20 posts every two weeks.
Miscellaneous: All spots are full as per the OP and you are holding funds in escrow so I don't think PNYC is appropriate  as you will pay from escrow if they don't. They retroactively changed the min number of posts after many people signed up.

I think he has already added them , it is under Coinpiler in the "Payment not yet confirmed" section .

I am saying it is in the incorrect section. The payment should be confirmed as he is holding escrow for the payments. The campaign is full so it should be listed under CFNP (closed for new participants)

0.2/month for 40posts as a Hero or Legendary is well paid! Prices may be going up a little bit

Smart idea, you will get some members to advertise your signature Smiley
592  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin or Gold? What would you pick? on: October 12, 2014, 06:04:09 AM
gold and bitcoin
whats ur choice?
bitcoin the best for shoping
gold the best for investment.  Cool

The problem with gold investment is that the price of gold is being manipulated. the big players have been FUDding up gold price, sold gold to the noobs and now are pulling levers to get gold down again, so they can buy back.

On one hand you are right but on the other hand the fact that the price is manipulated to be low is an opportunity to buy low before they can't hold the price anymore

Peter Schiff is a great economist? .....

OP pls dont make me laugh.

Dude, a pic of old men, accustomed to the 60s, is hardly convince anyone here. Wink

The establishment and people beneficing from a Big State or QE don't like Schiff, hardly a prove he's wrong

A lot of what he says about Bitcoin is 100% true
Schiff is the typical North American, all kinds of stuff keeps pooring out of he's mouth. Bits and pieces is guaranteed to appear "right" when seen in hinesight

Not at all because he has been consistant, each time he spoke during the Dotcom Bubble he was saying it was going to pop soon and the same with the Real Estate Bubble before Greenspan started raising interest rates 25 basis point at a time and he is consistently saying the USD bubble will pop, the FED has no exit strategy and we are still in a recession
595  Other / Politics & Society / Re: An eye opening about Climate change that need to be shared with you. It's FUN on: October 11, 2014, 09:45:54 PM
So you think a higher sea level is ok? Like 200 meters higher?
Wow....200 meters?

Hate to break this bad news, but 200 meters higher would ruin the best surf zones.

In the long run, though, we have an ice age coming.  We know it; we know the cycles; we know the percent of time the Earth has been in ice ages versus the percent of time it is temperate.

So this is the Big Problem.  And as you are aware, ice will make the sea level irrelevant.

But maybe we are lucky and we have a few thousand years before this cyclical event returns the planet to ice.  So what are you asserting, that during that time period we may see a 200 meter sea level rise, and have societies severely impacted by it?

How many degrees do you need for the ocean level to go up 200m? Not 2!! And it is very speculative to say it will go up 200m because you would need all the ice of the North and South Pole to melt and stay in the oceans

But maybe we are lucky and we have a few thousand years before this cyclical event returns the planet to ice.  So what are you asserting, that during that time period we may see a 200 meter sea level rise, and have societies severely impacted by it?
No, probably not 200 meters. That would require burning all the coal and oil.
If it will be a problem depends on the speed of the change. It's not easy to relocate billions of people.

No need to relocate billions of people and we are still in the Ice Age

When it has happened in the past it generally wipes out most life on Earth. No reason to think it will be different this time. Silly humans, always thinking the rules do not apply to them. Time to get schooled by mother nature.

Silly humans that think humans are bad for Earth and that they can predict the future
596  Economy / Economics / Re: Global Financial Crisis scenarios on: October 11, 2014, 09:42:32 PM
Hard to say which way bitcoin will go.

Remember, during the last crisis, even gold and oil went down quite a bit.

Gold has been going up during the years leading to the house crisis, what was a bit surprising to some was to see the USD going up as well

What do you mean by the USD going up - the USD index, i.e. dollar going up against other major currencies?

Yes

So, as long as USDX is not going down, treasuries are ok (i.e. the debt can keep on growing) as well as the U.S. economy, right?
Hypothetically. This could mean everyone is killing their currency faster than the USA.

However, countries with the exchange rate being lowered are now at an advantage. As they export goods, they can pay their employees more, and 80% of the time the purchasing power of the currency stays the same, unless something REALLY goes to crap.

If they start paying their employees more, that would cause inflation, and the purchasing power of the currency will not stay the same, especially if this process takes on (future expectations on inflation would invariably kick in).

If your currency is depreciating, you may export more nominally but what about in value?
If your currency is depreciating, the inputs you use to produce your product are going to increase in price (nominally) so you will have to increase your price
Your employees are going to need increased wages since the prices are going to go up in the country, if they don't, the fact that the currency depreciated is bad for the employees thus for most people
The prices of foreign goods will have gone up while, all else being equal, the price of domestically produced goods will stay the same. The result is that domestic goods will have an advantage over foreign goods

Prices of foreign goods will have gone up so it is bad for the consumers and for companies that need to buy a lot of foreign goods to produce their goods

The price of foreign goods will go up as well and even if they have an advantage over foreign goods domestic companies may sell more but will only get more nominally not in value or very marginally; they will need to increase their salaries to upset the higher cost of living and they will pay more taxes

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geologic_temperature_record

As you can see in the graphs above and in the wiki article this man-made global warming stuff seems to be BS. During the most thriving periods of life the global average temperature and the CO2 levels were much higher than today. We are at the end of a cold period, and now Earth warming up. Period.

That is the point of a lot of scientists including the Greenpeace ex-chief in the video forwarded in this thread, maybe human activity is warming the Earth a little bit faster but maybe it's good and nobody really knows what will happen; the so called climatologists that alarm people to the warming occurring have wrong for decades about their short term predictions

no need for a bump
skip the video to 1:26:15

and thats where you see where his true reason for his speech, which is:

Quote
i'm trying to help as many people as i can, go to my gold company schiff gold, if you got enough bitcoins left to buy gold and do it while you can still afford it

Quote
right now if you got 10-20 bitcoins you can buy some gold

gold is also at a low, so why sell gold at a low to then receive bitcoin. the reason is that he doesnt want gold, he wants bitcoin. why else accept bitcoin if he has lost faith in it and think its gonna fall?

remember folks, rich guys dont tell poor guys how to get rich as you are their competitor.
when they say gold is great, they want to sell. when they say stay away, they want to buy.

read between the lines.. schiff is trying to grab a hoard of bitcoin and offload his gold.

He wants to sell Gold but he says he is automatically selling all bitcoins he gets, who knows if it's not true and he keeps some. You understand merchants that accept bitcoins are actually selling in USD and usually don't keep much bitcoins if any?

Most if not all rich guys say Gold is bad except Schiff so if you are right, Gold is buy, and actually Gold is a buy because it is inflation protected and when the western countries fiat financial system goes down it will benefit like any other assets except maybe Bitcoin

Too many Bitcoin is sitting on cold storage for my liking. He is right. More Bitcoin needs to be on the open for its survival. People needs to sell.

And to use.. We dont need hoarders.

Think hoarders are find, they will end up selling or using their bitcoins and if only half or a quarter of the bitcoins are moving around, it is fine!

Dow futures -91

Pull out now. Feels like when I liquidated my portfolio in 08 to watch the markets crash shortly after

 Roll Eyes

I have been saying that for months now with no fucking real sell off yet, Fuckers come on make it happen!

Big thing right now to watch is the oil fight, some say if Oil crosses $75 a barrel (now at $85) the Shale Natural Gas industry is going to get ass raped and this is what held up the US imo over the last 4-7 years.

http://www.marketwatch.com/investing/stock/chk

85$ a barrel is so low compared to the 200$ a barrel in 2017 Grin

Am very bullish for most energy companies and countries which have a lot of natural ressources
