To be fair to Lord Micon I think what he was trying to say (although it was lost in the douchebag=>english translation) is that it appears as though PH is giving very high credit ratings to people who in Lord Micon's opinion are scams.

Perhaps PH can clear up how the credit ratings were assigned for our lord.

You just said that no one said they saw pirate in vegas... I was giving you examples of people who did.  I don't know about Elvis.
583  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Putting your money where Pirate's mouth is. on: September 01, 2012, 06:57:58 PM
So, does this mean that since Pirate was HONEST enough to LOSE the bet, that he will remain an OP in the #bitcoin-otc IRC channel ?

This concession should definitely help boost his OTC ratings as well, as he was completely honest in regards to the bet. He deserves +10 Ratings from EVERYONE.

....it only makes sense, right ?
Well he did pay... (the bet)
No, the escrow that both parties put their money into 56~ days before the bet was ended paid the bet. ;p
Splitting hairs.  Also he did concede to nanotube (rather than throwing up technicalities)

Its the power of Bitcoin network.
Both Bitcoin & forum members helps to nail scammers in head.

Tell us one scammer who has been nailed so far.
Tell one scammer who hasn't nailed so far using Bitcoin.
They get caught before they can run away. That is what important than any other thing.
It makes money can be recovered by all legal & other ways.

Tom Williams.  Andre Jensen.

I'm going to have to refresh my memory about Andre Jesen, because I read something yesterday where that name came up, but I skimmed over it not thinking of its relevance.

Quote
It sounds like Pirate's plan was to take victims' Bitcoin and use it for higher than market-rate payouts at GPUMAX.  In return, he got coins which could not necessarily/easily be traced to him.  He planned to make up the difference by manipulating/playing the currency conversion market.  He planned to be a net seller on highs and then buy up more than he sold for less in USD after he crashed the exchange rate.  Unfortunately for Pirate, the market didn't go his way.  Either it outgrew his influence or people wised up, or he played it poorly and his scheme was up.  He found he wasn't able to swing the market enough to buy back the amount of Bitcoin necessary to pay his returns and has now defaulted.

Possibly, but at some point during all this, a while back I say, he was already planning on making his epic asea run. About a month prior to Defcon, he posted that you can meet him eye-to-eye, but afterwards there's yet to be anybody who claimed to have seen him. Soon after Defcon was over, parrot shit started hitting the fan.

~Bruno~

There were several people who met with him in Vegas: giga, goat, burtw, copumkin, reeses. Just to name a few

He's been away. And distracted. Still, searching for "so long and thanks for all the fish" would have found this thread. Twice, at least.

I just found this thread.  Grin

ahh good. Now that you're here...  Mind sharing some of the deposit addresses and/or addresses you received payments from that bank thing with the high rate of returns?

Not right this second but ask me again in 10 days...

What do you need more time for?

He is on an island away from his wallet.
587  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Welcome Rachel - BitInstant's newest team member on: September 01, 2012, 02:12:54 PM
what does that mean?

By the way here are my votes for 556j's douche bag tag

http://youtu.be/Hw1ncADC9KM
+1... except if it is a tag it should read "I'm a douchebag"
588  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So long and thanks for all the fish. on: September 01, 2012, 01:39:50 PM
Since the decoded message stems from that Hitchhiker book(s), shouldn't we be searching this forum to see who has referenced other aspects of Douglas Adams' novel(s)?

~Bruno~

Why does it matter? I swear you guys often go on these witch hunts for no reason.

We need a reason?

I love you Bruno... you make my forum browsing experience.
589  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: #BTCST Updates. Latest: August 26th 8:11PM EST on: September 01, 2012, 01:36:32 PM
I'm just not sure why he would choose to hold his ill-gotten gains in BTC for any length of time knowing that when he pulled the plug he'd have a large number of coins to liquidate.

Unless he is long bitcoins...  if he didn't want/need the fiat immediately and he believes that their value will increase this makes sense.

Also if he had liquidated them in the past through gox then you can bet you ass they would have some sort of paper trail on him.
590  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blockchain.info - Bitcoin Block explorer & Currency Statistics on: September 01, 2012, 12:54:39 PM
This problem is still being experienced by new users of the iphone app.

I'll fix this in the next update.

I made a fork/addition to bitaddress.org that allows easy printing of blockchain.info wallet exports.  If this is interesting/useful to you then you can read more here:

Awesome, thanks. Do you mind if I add a link to it in the documentation?

Not exactly,  I more or less put the live version up for people too lazy to use github.  Right now it is just hosted off of my drop box, which isn't really the most secure.  Also I don't really want an unbranded fork of bit address.org, I would prefer my changes get merged into master.  Assuming that can not happen I will arrange for a more permenant hosting solution. obviously feel free to link to my github page.

All that being said if your paper export printed the keys in sipa/wif then it would really make this un-needed, unless you like the format of bit address.

Man... I CAN'T WAIT for the Swimsuit Competition.....there will be a Swimsuit Competition, won't there ?

It isn't much of a competition if there's only a single competitor..

SShh ! Don't ruin it for everyone else. PROOF of a REAL GIRL on this forum will be GROUNDBREAKING.

This truly is a 'Red Letter' day for Bitcointalk.org Wink
Isn't mousepotato a girl?

How to make VPN more secure?
1.Choose L2TP/OpenVPN rather than PPTP
2.Download software to help block traffic when VPN drops accidentally.
3.Disable IPV6
4.Change default DNS to opendns/Google public DNS with or without VPN to avoid packet leaking.

Do you support OpenVPN then?  TCP or UDP?
No. Only L2TP. If you install some software to block non-vpn traffic, L2TP is as secure as openvpn. And it's much easier to configure for customer if they're not technical savvy or don't want to jailbreak their iPhone[Why not?].
Hrm....  Do you have plans to support OpenVPN?  I am familiar with it.  Also I thought L2TP was not secure without IPSec and that IPSec didn't work well in NAT scenarios.
593  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Choose: Walk The Plank or Keelhaul on: September 01, 2012, 03:36:49 AM
Since Vandroiy is currently traveling, we have agreed via private communication to set up the 10k BTC disbursement of escrowed funds sometime in September, when he is back.

Weird.  Vandroiy can't just make an offline wallet, have nanotube send the funds there and verify it via third party tools.  His coins not mine but seems strange given the nature of Bitcoin that closing the bet would require waiting.
It's about 10kɃ, which is a significant sum. For all I know Vandroiy is in a tent in the rain somewhere. Personally I'd wait until I was back at home as well.
No reason not to, unless he thinks nanotube is going to run with it.
594  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Freenode channel ##btcst-open available for _ALL_ discussion.... on: September 01, 2012, 03:35:56 AM

Not a guilty conscience.....but if Phin is on the case, there's always a chance that I (or anyone here) could be implicated in the Watergate Scandal, 9/11, the Regan Shooting or named as one of the conspirators responsible for Global Warming or a price increase @ McDonald's on BigMacs....LoL

I just need to remain on his good side Wink

You're just throwing out red herrings to cover up your responsibility for the Great Depression and the Hindenburg disaster.

I'm somewhat amused that Phin hasn't found something nefarious in the fact that both Tihan and pirate like to play poker.

AND MICON!
595  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Building Armory on OSX on: September 01, 2012, 03:35:28 AM
So I made this super simple for people.  I'm sure etotheipi will eventually do this himself, but if you want Armory up and running fast and right now.

Code:
brew tap WyseNynja/bitcoin
brew install wysenynja/bitcoin/bitcoind
brew install --HEAD wysenynja/bitcoin/armory-qt

You don't need to install bitcoind, but I like to. I might eventually add a startup service for bitcoind.
Just tried to get an updated version of bitcoind from your forumula and got this error:
Code:
$ brew install bitcoind
Error: No available formula for berkeley-db4 (dependency of bitcoind)

Did you do a keg for that from somewhere?

Btw, I finally removed bsddb, so that dependency should be gone...

Though, in the future, I might add it back if the devs don't move on this new wallet format.  Luckily, I am pretty sure they won't be using BSDDB for the new wallet format, but if they procrastinate much longer past when I get compressed public keys, I might have to do this.
But this is for bitcoind.... doesn't that still depend on BDB?

It would be interesting to see what Bruno came up with though Wink

Great. Who is Bruno ? ....and is this supposed to reveal that I am a sockpuppet for someone else ? or that I am responsible for the downfall of Bitcoin ?

HAHA  no...   Guilty conscious?

Bruno == Phinn Gauge
