601  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Blowing the lid off the CryptoNote/Bytecoin scam (with the exception of Monero) on: August 23, 2014, 11:51:10 PM
Monero is currently under attack with a spam attack, while no other CN coin seems to be.  The attacker is spamming tx with random, large mixins (initially only mixin 101 was used, until I called them out on it in the official thread).

Example tx mempool:
Code:
Timestamp (UTC)	Hash	Total Amount (XMR)	Fee (XMR)	Mixin count	Size (bytes)
2014-08-23 18:25:15 (55 seconds ago) f38dbb7c635a6c31472d5a63ca79f16358aa39bd1ce7a02d02aad8407aadd161 1.240000000000 0.010000000000 1 939
....
https://minergate.com/blockchain/mro/transpool

Compare to:
https://minergate.com/blockchain/fcn/transpool
https://minergate.com/blockchain/bcn/transpool
https://minergate.com/blockchain/qcn/transpool
https://minergate.com/blockchain/duck/transpool
https://minergate.com/blockchain/mcn/transpool
https://minergate.com/blockchain/aeon/transpool
https://minergate.com/blockchain/bbr/transpool

This is an act of aggression on someone's part.

same thing literary happened with doge, history is repeating itself, they did the same kind of attack because the tx fees were too low, the fix has use a higher tx fees, this is to prove monero is here to win big time against all other CN coins, and unlike doge its unique and deflationary enough to keep going up, whoever is doing this, I have my suspicions but I cant prove so imo you should act fast implementing tx fees for high mixins so the attackers runs out of his xmr. this was bound to happen, if there is any way to attack a crypto it will be done because the cowards can.

Its not bad to attack a coin. It strengthens it. Its a good thing actually. I wonder what will happen if other coins get attacked this way especially if there are like 100 times cheaper...

I am against censorship. I want to hear the opposite voice and see if it has a point or is a troll.

However someone who opens 3 threads fuding Monero in half an hour and posting on other threads the same thing with large red fonts without actually stating anything needs to be banned for spamming...

Its a no-brainer in every world not just an ideal one...
608  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What coin are you mining with your CPU? on: August 22, 2014, 11:01:16 AM
I am mining Monero with my CPUs

Not profitable anymore, there is GPU mining for Monero already..

GPUs for cryptonotes arent optimized enough. It is actually as profitable. Well it depends on your CPU of course. Last time i checked high end CPUs were better than GPUs especially when you take into account electricity.
609  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What coin are you mining with your CPU? on: August 22, 2014, 10:58:59 AM
I am mining Monero with my CPUs

Everyone will tell you the coin they support to mine. Do your research. Cryptonote coins are good for CPU mining anyway.
610  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: MONERO XMR DROPPING LIKE A STONE GET OUT WHILE YOU CAN! on: August 22, 2014, 10:57:28 AM
Dont blame the "monero shills". They were pretty much stating the obvious...

So you support a quick and dirty fork of a scam coin then, do you?

you see those " " ? They have a purpose there.

Here is what i support: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=721045.msg8477489#msg8477489
611  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: MONERO XMR DROPPING LIKE A STONE GET OUT WHILE YOU CAN! on: August 22, 2014, 01:01:14 AM
      good how it is.

BCN scammed, someone noticed that, its your own fault, don´t blame others for your dishonest behaviour.

      This right there. Nothing more...

And jimbo in case you are not just another bytecoin shill and you got burned with bytecoin its your fault investing in something so premined (stealthmined if you prefer) as bytecoin. Dont blame the "monero shills". They were pretty much stating the obvious...

^ Agreed that Bitcoin is the way out. But again, this is another in a long train of technologies that have made everyone's lives better. It's just that now we're getting into the really huge ones. Bitcoin, prediction markets, decentralized everything...then in a short while the pace of new tech becomes impossible to comprehend, let alone predict.

      aka Technological Singularity?

If you come to Malla, you will have the opportuntity to speak with a board member of the French Transhumanist Association and the International Longevity Alliance. I anticipate great discussions!

Damn, i am very interested on those things!

I would like to buy some Monero coins, but have not any idea how to do it. Did some googling, but didn't find any good help. If anyone could help! Thanks for any help!

Poloniex.com has the biggest volume. There are other exchanges on the OP of monero main thread.

Thank you! But how can I make Monero wallet?

Try this http://monero.cc/getting-started/ and if something doesnt work then ask about the errors you get if you get any. But please this is a Speculation Thread. Ask here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=652305.60  or try IRC  #monero  Wink

soo....we continue ?  Roll Eyes Grin

risto was right, 394 was yesterdays peak, we did not manage to climb higher. Retreat to about 350/345 now with a lot of support at 350.
anyway, a lot of action also happening outside xmr markets, maybe this will keep bigger players distracted for some time.

the walls are still playing and moving as soon it gets serious

There was a big ask wall also @ 0.0036 if I recall correctly, which is completely bought up now. So we can resume the uptrend  Grin

i think part of it was eaten (4k by risto as he said). after that, the wall was removed.  Roll Eyes

Looking at the 1 minute chart, there was 1 buy of 9632 monero @ 02:01 and 1 buy of 5000 monero @ 08:53 (both @ 0.0036). You can look it up yourself. I am in timezone GMT +1 (Amsterdam), so you have to adjust for you own timezone.

Yep, i saw those. Someone is buying large..

Which of the unofficial GUIs are you guys using to transfer your XMR?

I am using the the command line. Its not really difficult and you learn a few basic things.

I havent yet tested the GUIs...
