It only depends on the amount of money they have and spend to have the most recent ASIC's or develop their own chips. I think that by the time they managed to have a sizeable mine or their own chips, they wouldn't be a threat to the network...

Honestly, so far, none. Doing all I can and having full attention in order not to be scammed. I can only say I've escaped from a scam by inches (exchange closed down with customers funds right after I withdrew). Close call

After that quote from theymos I guess we can reach the conclusion that valid emails are only needed to test the beta, so I guess you're fine

I don't think there's another way to recover the seed if the file is corrupted.
You only see special characters because the file is encrypted.

I don't think it would directly mean a collapse, but it would definitely mean some chaos. People would be all over the place complaining, fees would skyrocket and people would immediately claim we should raise block limits to 999999999999MB. We've seen similar in the past, similar would happen again.

Ask him why fiat is trustworthy and why is it used for illegal activities...

Bitcoin blockchain data 10 September 2016. Size: 68.95GB Uncompressed size: 89.2GB Format: compressed zip contains everything inside bitcoin data directory. Indexed with bitcoin core v0.11.2 on windows platform. torrent magnet link Donation address: 15HmMPLeqzX3Tpfy1xhxqhCpPnCt5axENU A true hero. Can i use that for latest bitcoin-qt in mac ? I think you still can, but according to release notes dating back to 0.10 (I think) you'll find that using a bootstrap is slower than simply syncing.

Yes. Can't Electrum open the file? If not, you're probably out of luck.

it's certainly safer than a normal computer.
Why? There isn't anything special with a Raspberry comparing it to another computer, being it whatever size or architecture. A Raspberry is as safe as any other computer, which means it is as safe as its owner wants it to be.

The mempool is a fine indicator, but we can read the network in order to have the exact number of transaction that there currently are, at any given time... "X transactions on the network" is more humanely understandable than "X MB reserved for mempool" when we want to know the number of transactions that exist.

Time for some champagne and fireworks, I guess, haha What about the number of BTC being lost in the process? Anyone s got any assessment of that number?
Well, there's a thread about that, but it's a loose estimate, of course.

You can even run a node with the disablewallet feature enabled. No worries about that, you could have 0 or 999999 BTC, it would be the same for the network.

Download Bitcoin Core and start it (either bitcoind or bitcoin-qt) with the -testnet flag. An alternative is writing testnet=1 on your bitcoin.conf file. Not sure if there's a guide, but this is pretty much it.

Raspberries can handle pretty much any wallet you can compile to ARM. The wallet you'll use will depend on the usage you're looking for. Either way Electrum and Armory are very good options.

Didn't even knew that there were web wallets for the testnet...
Send them an email, if you weren't credited.

Before which point must it be done ? I wouldn't like to lose my account ... I assume the answer to that is as soon as possible. 2FA is only for people who can't keep their passwords safe. It should be optional. I don't see a plus in requiring a working e-mail address. It reduces privacy.
I fear the new forum will make intensive use of JavaScript, which is a nightmare for any speed / security oriented user.
No, 2FA is for everyone (at least for everyone worried with security). You can have an anonymous email address and only use an address for the forum, many people do that (hence the warning for verifying if the email address is valid. And because many people use a fake one too). You can already see on the beta website how the forum will be (more or less). I've tried it a few times and I don't think it's slow.

My main problem is the fact that I cannot pay my utility bills with Bitcoin directly to those companies and acceptance in stores is still low. Other than that, I don't think I have issues using Bitcoin at the moment. Eventually the lack of space in a block may be a small nuisance, periodically, but we haven't been hit hard with that so far.

Here's something about fees that might be of your interest. Here's a site where you can estimate the fees you need for next block confirmation.

Not much action required to update Bitcoin Core...

Disregarding Bitcoin when I first heard about it. To my defense, it's wasn't nicely presented to me, unfortunately how much was BTC worth the first time you acquired it ? Don't really remember... Around 400$ maybe if I'm not mistaken A bit late. Bought in very low quantities.
