621  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Who among you here is gambling at work? on: December 24, 2023, 12:36:14 PM
I'd like to share my experience with you all. Even though I'm not currently employed, I went through a phase of gambling while I was working in the past, and the outcome wasn't positive. It affected my job performance because, as you may know, when you lose, you tend to dwell on your losses and constantly think about strategies to win. When we talk about work, it usually means we're not particularly wealthy, and imagine what happens when we gamble money we can't afford to lose, especially when we're not earning much.

Let me tell you, the feeling is far from pleasant. It leads to a decline in your work performance, which can have significant consequences since that's your primary source of income. It might be manageable if you're winning, but the harsh reality is often quite the opposite. Even when we do win, we tend to spend most of our winnings, so we don't treat it as business money. This leaves us in a precarious situation when we lose because the money we initially budgeted for our families gets diverted to cover unexpected gambling-related expenses.

I'd like to hear from those of you who have experienced this or are still dealing with it. Please share your testimonies.

Those are the reasons i am not playing while working. In fact i rather not play if i haven't mentally prepared for it. For the losses and wins. Because those are very distracting and i have already hard time focusing on things i should prioritize in my life. My life is one constant look for distraction, so i need less of it, not more. Especially when it's so rewarding it's hard for me to think anythnig else.

So, while working, i often keep noise cancelling headphones. Block my changes to login to any social media. My friends know i can't be disturbed while on the flow of work, because i get so much done when i am not disturbed and on the "flow". But all it takes is one distraction and it can take hours to get back into it. And even if i would bet on the lunch, i would probably wonder how that match is going that i bet on, or what my next steps are going to be for the money i lost or won.
622  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Ever heard about financing a gambler? on: December 24, 2023, 12:27:19 PM
-cut-
Someone explained this to me, and I believe he is already a victim because to me it doesn't make sense, I believe he is been used because he lacks knowledge about gambling, do you think my judgment is wrong?
It can happen in some situations. I have people who tried to give me money to invest, as they saw me making money. I declined as it would probably make me a bad investor, as i would change my methods when i would be responsible of someone elses money. Also i wouldn't want to provide info about every trade and tx fee for tax reports. It seems like a lot's of work. Combined with the burden of responsibility.

These people approached me because they didn't know anything about crypto or trading. They wanted someone else to do the work. Same happens when you don't know anything about sports or sports betting. But you see someone getting rich by it. They want in for the profits. This makes more sense to me as i understand trading and crypto but i don't understand sports betting as a deep level as crypto scene. If i saw someone making bucks with gambling, i would definitely want to fund it. Especially in Finland as gambling winnins when playing on "veikkaus" are tax free income.
623  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Features of the worldview of a gambler on: December 24, 2023, 12:17:57 PM
I watched videos about gambling addicts, in which the channel’s hosts interviewed them. I was amazed at how many of them were pathological optimists. More precisely, it’s hard for me to use the word optimism in conjunction with the word pathological, but still. Any loss for them is just a short-term nuisance. Optimism takes over and they play again and again, not paying attention to loans and debts.

I have studied the subject for a while as a hobby, as it overlaps my special interest of evolutionary psychology and cognitive biases. And correct me if i am wrong, but i don't think pathological optimism is the scientifically recognized term for it, but more like optimism bias said in layman's terms. Or more specifically pathological gambling caused by excessive optimism.

At the same time, many openly admit that they are gambling addicts. But they talk about it as a minor detail of their lives. They admit that they are gambling addicts, but this does not make them stop. They, as usual, strive to continue the game.
I have repeatedly encountered the fact that the very concept of risk management is either unfamiliar to them or they do not attach enough serious importance to it.
I would highlight the following features:
1. Pathological optimism.
2. Lack of risk management.
3. The desire to understand some fundamental issues of the game (they talked about this themselves in interviews)
4. Love for the game process itself.
What do you think are the features of the worldview of a gambler?
Animals like people are wired to be addicted, they like to respond to supernormal stimulus way more then things that are actually essential for their well-being, and if you combine for example ADHD to the mix, it adds to lack of risk management. But risk managament itself is already modified by the neurochemistry of addicts, probability is subjective thing to them and they see it via magical thinking. I am currently writing an article about this to here, but it gets delayed as i have a busy schedule during winter. But in short: It's not because lack of understanding. Addicts understand what they are doing. They are just unable to control it. It's a neurochemical issue, and sometimes overlaps with adhd symptoms.
624  Economy / Gambling / Re: Joya.Casino| Rewarding Casino| Huge Welcome and VIP Bonus| 20% Weekly CashBack on: December 23, 2023, 11:16:10 PM
I’m browsing the casino right now via mobile device but I don’t find it not user friendly at all. I admit that they have odd aspect ration when their menu is being use but that doesn’t affect the overall performance of the casino once playing a game. Being laggy or the game slow to load are my basis for not being a user friendly in mobile because there’s a lot of casino worst than this in terms of gaming experience using mobile.
I just tried it and yeah, it definitely isn't designed for mobile. I mean it has a mobile version, but gui is horrible to use, with a honor90 i know it's not an old phone issue.
And it's not only a mobile thing. I tried to read their ToS and found it very confusing and horribly formatted. Help desk wasn't that helpful either, but at least they answered pretty fast.

I might put some money in if someone confirms that wagering requirements are worth it, and they actually are keeping their words on cashBack etc..
625  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sympathetic gamblers looses itself on: December 23, 2023, 11:04:35 PM
Yup, because if you know the limit of your gambling capacity and you don't give in to your emotions, then there is a greater possibility that you will be more successful in your gambling. I mean you are more likely to win some people control their emotions in order not to be greedy and avoid chasing losses.

I agree that It is also important that you have more experience in gambling and know some skills, but if you don't have any ability to know this field then it is better to try first and test if gambling is really for you. Some people are only influenced by their friends or colleagues and there are also other people who are just imitating other gamblers knowing that they don't have much experience and in the end, they will be sad because they lose more than winning.

That's why as a concerned citizen, who knows the status of their lifestyle is also unhappy to think that the money that should be spent on their daily life is just lost through irresponsible gambling.
Giving into emotions can be dangerous, but successful is very subjective term. I would take it as being successful when we don't lose everything by playing everything we got, or even more then we budgeted. That's a win in my book. I don't necessary wait for huge profits in order to be successful. Just minimized losses. As long i am losing what i am affording to lose, i consider myself a successful gambler. That might be a low bar for someone but it keeps me straight and far from the trouble and deep end. And i consider myself greedy, not so desperately greedy i would play with a loan or anything like that. But i gamble with winnings sometimes, maybe with too greedy attitude, but that what gives me big wins sometimes. But only sometimes.
626  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does casino streamers have influence in your gambling life? on: December 23, 2023, 10:11:32 PM
I came across on YouTube where a gambling casino social influencer was streaming about a casinos platform.
He literally brought out his phone and was illustrating to the audiences that it is just few steps to take the winning on your games which is making choice of your predictions, choose amount to bet and also indicate his hashtag referral code and click on confirm.
Immediately you get credited directly to your account that just you won.
I just smiled but I want to ask, how many of you guys develops interests on a particular casino platform due to the influence of the casinos streamers?
I have to admit that sometimes when i watch someone playing rounds in recorded youtube videos, not in live sets, and when they win incredible jackpots. It makes me greedy and want to try that as well, and even when i totally understand that i ignore him being insanely lucky, and i probably won't be as lucky. I want to try it.

But honestly, i don't watch anyone playing slots live with my free time. I would find that insanely boring. And i have a theory that these influencers might not have such a big following. But that they have paid followers to interact with them. This is because i used to be in several weird bounty groups doing different kinds of activities. And one of them was to watch comment one slot playing influencer while he was playing in crashout.io (which everyone should avoid by the way). That made me think that i am guessing very few, if any of them have real followers. And they are just being paid to play too.
627  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Solana just reached $80!!! on: December 23, 2023, 09:58:16 PM
I’ve been thinking to buy SOL again but I think it is already over price and anytime from now it can enter corrections and that could be a big one if the hype is over. Well, SOL is a good platform and there’s a big chance for this project to pump more, the risk is there and you have to decide if you are going to invest and just miss the opportunity because of being afraid about the trend. Let’s see how far SOL can be as many claims already that SOL will replace ETH soon.
If i had a dollar every time i hear people saying that they think something is overpriced and it kept on going 100x from there. I am not saying this would have even room to do that, but saynig something is overpriced seems to be very subjective point of view.

Now solana has grown in value so well, probably even better than some other shitcoins. Now they say that this project is the future ethereum. Maybe the price will be above $100. But it seems to me that as soon as the hype is over, solana will be forgotten again.
It's over $100 already. And Solana was never forgotten, so it won't be forgotten again. It has flipped BNB's marketcap by almost 4 billion now, which i am betting almost no one saw coming. So if you think that BNB is going to be also forgotten, maybe then sol too.

I find this hate and disbelief even more weird then people who are claiming it to be next eth.

You tried to summarize him to few sentences in your site and it doesn't cover much, there are lots of interviews in the net about the guy ,like this one and he is actually quite smart fellow. Sad to see summaries like this about him. If you want to write articles, always set your standards high in everywhere you can. This includes putting sources to your text. Because now people will either have to trust your text blindly or google it by themselves. That's not a good way to attract new readers. And i am guessing you want those.
629  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoin portfolio on: December 22, 2023, 11:50:38 PM
Don't miss out Ethereum and BNB, Paul. But I have the eye on the two that you're also looking at, Kaspa and ICP. They seem to have not yet moved a lot and I think that because I've missed the SOL move, then I'd might take a shot with those but only with little amounts.
Because no matter what opportunities are missed with these altcoins, I've got my biggest bet still with Bitcoin so that's not making me miss out all of those runs.
BNB is a centralized to Binance. It has mostly value because of it. And now binance needs to pay for huge fines. Do you really think that they won't dump any BNB to cover it? I am guessing they have liquidity on other assets as well, but why would they sell less risky assets to be left to sit with their highly risky asset. I don't think them selling their own coin would dump the market as they will sell it slowly. But it might hurt the growth. And it's not like they would admit that, like when CZ said he will dump their FTT. Because we all know how that went

Tips for extraordinary investment growth
There is a simple strategy we use to achieve a fast altcoin growth. We make it simple. We chose LOW ranked coins whit a high rank number. Those coins whit less circulating supply have a much greater chance to reach multple thousand percent growth.

Good luck whit following my investment advice!!

    Meny, meny Thanks!!

I am so confused about everything in your post.
You are not giving an advice. It's more like an ambiguous and confusing statement. Let's start by decrypting this:

"LOW ranked coins whit a high rank number."

What does that even mean? They are ranked somehow low and high at the same time? In where and with what metrics?

-cut-
The Total circulating supplys are not so high yet. So we can reach high profit returns.

Circulating supply being just at the start doesn't mean any of the things you said. If it indicated anything, it's most likely that you wouldn't know where is it going. It depends on the holders, tokenomics and how is it distributed. More tokens in the future means more tokens for everyone staking or mining it. So value of them will most likely dilute with the growth.

I am not trying to be mean, but it seems like you don't know what you are talking about and it's a very good decision is for everyone to ignore your advices.
631  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Poverty change people on: December 22, 2023, 02:16:56 PM
Poverty change people, I never thought as much until i came back from abroad.
I visited my old neighborhood while growing up to see some of my guys in the past, I observe that most of them have changed to something else, from their behavior to how they sees life, and to how bittered they are. Though we still get along well base on the kind of person I am, I don't even sees myself like the rich guy they take me for,  but I also feel their pain because life haven't been fair to them,  a caring and loving guy before is now always bittered, the best I can do, which I did was to introduce them to Bitcoin and cryptocurrency.
Poverty is a disease that changes people.
Well obviously it changes you, as it can physically change your brains as you don''t have access to healthy nutrition, you might not get enough sleep, too much work with a crap pay without decent worker rights. Or even worse you could lose your house.

You end up doing things that suck your self-respect. So no wonder you'll get bitter. And thing is, it might not even be your fault at all. You just need to to have born in a wrong place, wrong family, with wrong disabilities. Several third party things can go wrong that can wipe your safety net. People say that you can be rich no matter what your disabilities are. Yeah, sure, but that's not how getting rich work. You have to be part of right circumstances, and not everyone just can be rich. Capitalism needs poor people to work for the rich people in order to have rich people.

Bitcoin's goal is not to end poverty. It's just freedom to send value without permission from anyone. It isn't ending world hunger or guaranteed to make anyone wealthy.
632  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Nowhere is safe part 2 on: December 21, 2023, 09:47:49 PM
Life’s a risk, businesses are risky, investing in Bitcoin is a risk, but it doesn’t mean one shouldn’t make calculated risks. Now, I can tell you that it is riskier to have your money on a CEX than a DEX. In fact, you can’t even have money in DEX because you only connect your wallet to make a transaction but it isn’t as if you are storing your crypto with them. Many people are conscious to disconnect their wallet afterwards to further reduce the risk (we should try to do so too). But CEX? Your funds are with them before you can even transact. Not only does your fund depend on their security, even the platform can lock you out and you lose your money (not often though). I believe it’s reduced risk to just have your wallet to yourself… that’s the best one can do.
Well i don't know about that. It's definitely closer to crypto ethos to be decentralized as possible, but when it comes to being risky, many of the CEXes get hacked but still keep enough funds to have money for their customers. Unlike hacks in decentralized finances. <- (on which you might want to take a look that link).

I understand why people argue that we should head for decentralization, but using DeFi, isn't risk free. Far from it. In fact i wouldn't say it's riskier in any legit CEX.
633  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Solana just reached $80!!! on: December 21, 2023, 09:32:13 PM
Its connection with FTX and Alameda gives it such a bad reputation that its price dropped to below 20$. That time, I hesitate to buy sol but i think that was a mistake. I should have taken the risk to add some sol to my portfolio. It doesn't matter right now but crossing 1000$ will make it overvalued. The current sol rally came from its airdrop hype and smart phone release, and as long as airdrop farmers get new projects to speculate about, they will leave sol. It can cause a correction but i don't think sol will go below 40$ any more.
Your hesitation was completely understandable. Markets were scary and in desperate times we often would like to see them as hopeless, so we wouldn't need ponder the risk of investing.

But i didn't see this coming this fast. It's $92 now and growing. Avalanche looks explosive too, in fact, so does the whole market. It looks like the perfect storm is coming. Correction might feel bad for some people here. Especially if they are coming in with leverage.

Altcoin season has truly started. Next this will flow into midcaps and then small caps.

634  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: About Altcoins Investment Experience on: December 21, 2023, 09:13:47 PM
It's important to avoid generalizing all memecoins as shitcoins since they differ in quality. Many people, including myself, don't consider Dogecoin as a shitcoin and share this sentiment. It's natural for some projects to fail as not all of them follow the necessary steps or adhere to a well-defined roadmap. While Btc, Eth, and BNB enjoy a solid reputation, it's worth noting that there are other reputable cryptocurrencies available. Additionally, we can anticipate the creation of new cryptocurrencies in the future.
You have a good point. And let's not forget that even if they all were same crap, people have every right to invest to anything they want. It's the beauty of crypto. Best one might not even win. Markets don't always reward for hard work, or care, or are fair in any way.

Even if someone thinks all meme coins or altcoins were just total crap and wouldn't vary in quality enough, some people will invest them. Some will lose money, some will make money. And some people will laugh at the investors, saying they are crazy, and i see it as a paraller to people getting laughed at when they are buying nfts, or altcoins with "better" fundamentals. Or even when they bought bitcoin in early days.

People will always judge others when they don't understand where the money comes. They are angry because what they considered as smart investment isn't making that much profits. But that's because markets aren't representing smart people. They are representing greed and fear. Doubly so in crypto markets.
635  Economy / Gambling / Re: Stake.com - The Leading Crypto Casino - Drake, UFC, Everton, Alfa Romeo F1 Team on: December 21, 2023, 09:00:23 PM
You guys might not believe me, but I did manage to turn a $100 bankroll into a $100K+ wager. It's all pure luck and decision-making when you're in profit and decide to continue gambling. I think Plinko with lower risk is the best strategy to increase your wager.
Well of course just like you guys, that $100 bankroll ended up losing and didn't make any profit.
Congratz no matter if it's true or not. Because it doesn't really matter if i believe your specific case, as it of course is possible with enough luck. That's why it's called luck.

But your plinko argument doesn't make sense. As lower risk comes lower changes for profit. Using plinko for the. Plinko makes more sense if you are slowly grinding for higher levels, as you are less likely to lose everything so fast, but that doesn't mean you are more likely to win 100x.

If it would be, people would just play plinko instead of anything else.

How many of you remember $dcr #DECRED HuhHuh Smiley

Well that's a blast from the past. I am not the only one who forgot this existed and there's a good reason for that. Decred is outdated and boring, it's like a computer that's running with steam still pretending to be relevant.  I personally don't understand why this dinosaur exists and i don't get the community or excitement. It has

It has a small marketcap so it has growth potential, and what i see is it does react to bullruns and might break $1k if BTC breaks $200K. But i can't see it being exciting enough to break trough top top 10 or anything like that. It's just a generic boring altcoin that makes money like lots of altcoins just because thet make money during an altcoin season.

Do you see this as addiction or just catching of fun?
-cut-
That's a good example of addiction. When someone is saying you literally can't lose, and even has a typo in lose, you can assume that you are not communicating with the smartest of them all. And definitely with someone who is in denial. Also suggesting a loan for gambling more isn't just irresponsible. It's unempathic and sadistic approach. My words may sound harsh, but that kind of advice is dangerous and only good for ruining lives. If someone i knew would give me that advice. I would take even more advices and do opposite of those too.

I don't have anything against people who advocate gambling as harmless fun and a good past time. But when someone talks about taking loans to gamble more because they say you can't lose. That i consider a very dangerous advice. Also i would ask why did they lose before that, and what makes this magical next bet better?

638  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Tether: We've onboarded FBI, Secret Service to our platform on: December 20, 2023, 09:43:09 PM
This is a tricky situation wherein Tether is playing safe to stay away from the radar of regulators and it has a valid reason since these wallets were on the sanction list of Office of foreign assets and control but involving FBI and secret services is bit alarming and not because it makes it clear that in future government of US will be patronizing USDT, started with USDT but in future they can do the same to target any cohort of customer let's say if they make ban trading or even set some limit then once USDT has Bowes sown to them and they will do the same once again. I foresee downfall of Tether soon if this continues.
Playing safe is kinda understatement. They are complying because if they wouldn't be, they would be out of business and probably fined, if not jailed for not complying with AML laws.
So they don't want to get to CZ treatment, which is something that any sensible team that wants to stay out of jail will choose.

And it's not only US that's pressuring them. They are just one branch of the many. FATF hq isn't even in United states.
639  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can we reduce the energy consumption of POW? And whether it is necessary on: December 20, 2023, 09:39:12 PM
Crypto mining is the least energy consumption people need to worry about, there are a lot of other stuff that consume massive energy. Food processing, transportation, .etc. According to this article, https://bitcoinmagazine.com/business/bitcoin-energy-use-compare-industry Bitcoin only consumes 0.28% of energy of total energy consumption by Transportation.

https://www.techopedia.com/bitcoin-mining-and-energy-statistics#:~:text=According%20to%20the%20New%20York,cooling%20throughout%20the%20US%20annually.

In here, Bitcoin mining consumes roughly 0.5% of all energy produced worldwide.

That number is insignificant, even if all the miners stop, energy crisis will still happening.
Sure, but it's a tough sell to justify it for something people see less important then transportation and foode. Nocoiners don't generally see bitcoin as a net positive or even as a solution to anything. And it's hard to argue back when most of the crypto people seem to want centralization and synthetic bitcoins if it brings us more money. And when that centralization part is being attacked by officials, it immediately affects to bitcoin's price. Even though bitcoin should have nothing to do with it.

And when it comes to question of OP, so far i haven't heard any proof of work that would mean less work/power consumption. The answer is literally in the acronym.

Just trying to get the communities opinion based on their experience about the topic.
Personally, a a bettor, I find it very stressful when watching the game you are betting especially if it will end up a losing bet.
If we have the same experience, how do you cope up with that problem, after all, gambling should be fun but why we have this kind of feeling that we feel disappointed when our bet loses?

Same here, i find it very stressful watching a game when you have a bet on either team. Most of the time, i won't watch it live, i will just watch the replay so i can see how the players were doing on that particular game as a reference for my next bet on them.

I bet to win, not for fun lol, but if my bet loses, i don't have regrets because that's my choice and i just put it in my mind that we will not always win in gambling, we win some we lose some.
Vaculin, of course we are disappointed, because there are stakes on it. That's part of the fun, without it we might as well play with monopoly money. And even with that people get disappointed when their home team loses. Well some of us do anyway. I don't care that much. Having fun gambling doesn't mean you have to have peak happiness all the time, but that it's a rollercoast of emotions. Like a good movie that you are excited to watch.

disappointedlink, i understand that it can be stressfull especially with big stakes. But i would imagine that bigger the stakes are, the more you would like to watch the game. That is if you don't have heart condition or something that should prevent you getting too excited. I personally don't often watch because there are just too many games to track and it would took ages to spend that time next to tv screen. But if i would have bet one huge bet, i would totally want to keep my eye on that closely.
