Ill consider investing in a few if the price goes down till then im on the sidelines.  Is there an option to have the boards not be the tacky white? or is that something your gonna stick with?

DIRTYCAT

Dont like the white?

NO PROBLEM

We have hired Color Consultants from the LA modeling Industry to help us offer colors more appealing to customers like you who like to nit pick and bitch about insignificant things.

Now the most important thing when picking the color of your FPGA miner is to make sure it not only matches your eyes, but also your shoes and if possible, your handbag.

Please use the color pallet below to pick the color of your mining unit and send an email with this information to covergirl@btcfpga.com and we will RUSH this information to the PCB Board fabricators in China to make sure we have a perfect color match for you.

The last thing we want is miners whos hardware clashes with their wordrobe.

And no matter how many weeks this delays shipment - this is our NUMBER 1 concern and we will do anything possible to make sure this does not happen.

Thank you SO MUCH dirty cat for bringing this to my attention, youve done a service not just to me but to the Bitcoin community in general

Code for the modminer has been pulled into the master tree for cgminer. The next cgminer version will have full support for this hardware.

THANK YOU CON MAN! YOU HAVE MY COMPLETE AND TOTAL GRATITUDE!

Sorry I haven't had a chance to post these sooner, many of you will see these in your mail boxes very soon!

This is the final RETAIL version of the ModMiner Quad Rev.04 - the unit we are currently shipping:

for specific queries like that I would suggest contacting contact@btcfgpa.com

but likely a couple of weeks for delivery and no more than 4

thanks!

Just wanted to show off the ModMiner Quad hashing away in cgminer today! We are playing around with clock speeds but it seems to run pretty stable at 210 which gives us 840mhash

right now its at 200mhz and giving out a steady 800mhash

we also incorporated auto downclocking in overload situation, if overload / overheat is detected it will automatically lower the clock speed by 2 mhz every 180 seconds to prevent damage to the unit (in case a fan dies or extreme temps etc)

What firmware are you running on this?

 fpgaminer_top_fixed7_197MHz.ncd

Cool, so any new firmware for the X6500 will be compatible with the ModMiner, and vice versa. Good to see that!

ii dont see any increase in wattage from 800 to 840 on the killawatt

if there is any increase its inconsequential

There should definitely be an increase. Probably extending the line from my measurements. Theoretically, it could be even more than linear. Are you set up to do any more careful tests than a kill-a-watt?

What is your VCCINT?

Here in my office the best I have is a killawatt, however at the location where these are being built and tested is a lot more high tech Tongue, Ill ask my engineer about our VCCINT and get back to you Smiley

CGMINER Will Support the ModMiner Quad from this point on!

I just received confirmation! CGMINER 2.4.3 WILL include ModMiner Quad Support along with the 210 Mhz clock which means your ModMiner Quad now does a STABLE 840 Mhash !

Is that cgminer code being submitted to Con so we don't have to run a 'custom' cgminer?

no guarantees but yes I am going to do the best I can to see it gets added to 2.4.3

SOFTWARE ANNOUNCEMENT!

I have just received a completed windows cgminer binary compatible with the ModMiner Quad!

This is awesome stuff and I know you will all love to be able to mine your MMQ along with your other FPGAs and GPUS in one of the worlds best Mining Software!

656  Other / Off-topic / Re: FPGA Shipping on: June 10, 2012, 04:23:04 PM
Just keep in mind FPGA will be dead once ASIC is released 500Ghash.

Yeah well there is still people buying new GPU's to mine with.  The new ModMiner with the new bitsream can do ~1GH/s@~50W.  Even after the block reward half's in December/January the difficulty would have to be extremely high to make 1GH/s@50W unprofitable.  The OpenASIC project is looking at ~8GH/s@~100W@~$3,000 and won't be out until next year probably.  Yes BFL have an announcement on June 15th but with an ASIC any change at all in the bitcoin protocol will make them obsolete.  So unless BFL's ASIC is very cheap I'm going to be waiting for the OpenASIC as that ASIC stands the chance of being the cheapest and most widely used.  Therefore reducing the chance of them being made obsolete.

And the fact that BFL is accepting FULL trade in value for the BitForce Singles tells you loud and clear that they WILL NOT BE INEXPENSIVE

Any realistic ASIC market penetration is far far off. Even if asic is the success everyone says it will be (I am not convinced) that is far away giving many months of FPGA profitability.

I encourage anyone to do your research before you make a large financial decision and check out all of the many great Bitcoin community's home grown FPGA products available.

657  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: FPGA Rig Photos on: June 10, 2012, 01:44:20 AM
there are many options where you can start out with little money for instance:

You can get started with a back plane $99.99 and a single Spartan 6 plugin card (200mhash) for only $349.99

http://www.btcfpga.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=54

and you can add 1-3 additional Spartan 6 plugin cards when you are ready to upgrade

Thanks for turning this thread into your official marketing thread.  Roll Eyes

Thanks for turning every single FPGA thread into the official BFL ass kissing thread,

I cant believe you actually said that to me, wow coming from anyone else I would not mind one bit and even agree , you are way to used to people kissing your own ass and not calling you out on shit

Every chance you have , any time someone remotely talks about FPGA or BFL its a mini-infomercial starting GigaVPS the Bitcoin worlds old Richie Rich singing the praises about BFL

I could find MULTIPLE occurrences of you doing the same exact thing, way more than I have about my own company

please giga I know its hard for you to lower your self and mingle with us lower life forms, but please your majesty : dont be a hypocrite and expect me not to call you out on it, I care nothing for popularity at all. I am about the truth.

658  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Devcoin on: June 10, 2012, 01:06:43 AM
Devcoin is an ethical currency where 90% of the generation goes to open source developers and 10% to the miners:

So there is a 90% tax on mining these.

Where does this 90% go? And how do they decide where to distribute it to?

Unless I'm missing something here this sounds crazy and I can't see why anyone would get involved.

See http://devtome.org/wiki/index.php?title=Devcoin and proably other pages also of the Devtome wiki, which itself pays devcoins from that 90% to people who write articles for the wiki. See front page of the wiki, and page about getting paid for writing articles, etc etc etc.

-MarkM-

Devcoin pays for projects to get developed, its an excellent way to put money in the hands of the developers - the innovators...

Before you pass judgement please read the wiki

also You or anyone else can get involved and get some of that money yourselves

I read that. I still don't get it. What devcoin appears to have done is create an ecosystem where 90% of the wealth is controlled by a very small group, maybe just 1 person. Corruption is inevitable in this model. You are going to be gamed by bounty hunters, gamed by everyone else who thinks they can blag a free handout, and gamed by the 90% wealth holders who will want to do everything to ensure their wealth steadily increases. And the 90% person or group will see it as their wealth over time.

This project appears to be idealistic but good intentions get corrupted by messy reality.

Speaking for the ModMiner Quad I can tell you the how and why of our shipping times

We have an excellent relationship with our parts distributors and PCB board fabricators and right now we have a decent stock of PCB boards

PCB Boards take a minimum of 8 days to be fabricated and a few more days for shipping

the other parts we can get here right away

As long as we have PCB boards in stock shipping times are very quick, and we are working very hard to streamline our process

However we guarantee with a 9% discount (almost $100 off the MMQ) that your unit will arrive by the fourth week of your order.

As we are in a big build cycle now this is a great time to order.
