641  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you really earn more money because you went to college? on: September 30, 2014, 07:04:57 AM
I earn less money because I went to college. I had to pay for it for the first go round, but the second time, FAFSA covered it.

Considering you could have make money all this time and save the money you paid for the first round, do you think you are better off because you went to college?
642  Economy / Speculation / Re: Gold collapsing. Bitcoin UP. on: September 29, 2014, 02:33:25 PM

Obviously Bitcoin has more potential than Gold and performed better last few years but Bitcoin is more risky and Gold can benefit of the upcoming fall of the USD and western financial system too so it's a great asset to have for us who know what is coming

In my mind it's most likely that distributed crypto-currencies will benefit from a lose of confidence in fiat systems much more than gold.  The simple reason for this is that they are new and starting from a lower position relative to gold and silver.

I see gold, and to a larger degree, silver, as being something to have should a loss of confidence in fiat systems result in war, famine, totalitarianism, etc.  Such outcomes are not unusual in times of economic collapse and I don't think that any country is immune from them.  It would be much easier for authoritarians to limit realistic normal use of something like Bitcoin which requires a reasonably well-working and free global internet and in times of strife I find it almost inconceivable that such a thing would go unchallenged.  It would still be worth having some private keys with assigned value, but mostly to hold on to for better times and/or to use in operations which are already quite risky anyway.

What you meant is Gold will benefit more because it is more established and known, it's reasonable to think that but Bitcoin has a huge potential no matter what; we could see economic collapse with some countries that fair very well aka Asian countries, free countries like Switzerland; the collapse of the USD will be great in the medium term for the hard working/hard saving countries like China, they will consume what they produce just fine, they don't need the Americans to consume what they produce and pay in fiat

644  Economy / Gambling / Re: What is the best bitcoin casino? on: September 29, 2014, 02:20:09 PM
Which Casino offers the best odds? please respond with facts not opinions.

Peerbet raffles have a 0% house edge, though there are not many people playing it.
I am almost certain that no games offer a negative house edge (positive expected value for players).
No such things exists, why would they then run a casino site? To lose money?

Doesn't make sense, unless of course they got massive revenues from advertisements, to cover up the losses.

They do offer bonuses that bring the house edge in the minus sometimes. But never for always.

Exactly.
IIRC, Luckybit was offering a negative house edge at the very early days to attract new players.

During the happy hours you had a negative house edge as well on LB
645  Economy / Gambling / Re: XBTcontracts.org - Speculate to accumilate. on: September 29, 2014, 01:33:35 PM
the http://xbtcontracts.org server will experience some downtime for maintenance within the next 24 hrs of this post.
Normal operations will resume there after.

0.03 invested in 3months! The site is still up, like a big trap that doesn't need any work for the owners
646  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will bitcoin ever reach $1000 dollars again? on: September 28, 2014, 08:00:16 PM
If you believe in bitcoin why would you put your money on a paper wallet and store it in a vault? If you believe in bitcoin, use it to buy and (maybe?) sell things with. Also, I don't really see bitcoin taking off for real until people are paid wages in bitcoin. I don't mean a few token cases that are synthesized just to show it can be done, I mean as a practical solution, even if it is niche.

People are not paid wages in Gold (they will again soon and we'll have the option to have bank accounts denominated in Gold) but all the Gold in the univers has a value of 7 Trillions that would be half a million per Bitcoin because Gold is a store of value and is useful and apreciated
647  Economy / Speculation / Re: Price manipulation going on right now at the big exchanges on: September 28, 2014, 07:54:19 PM
The typically low levels of trading on the exchanges, followed by massive increases in trading during times of price volatility,  suggests to me that there is very little hft going on during normal times.

This is more likely.. When demand exceeds supply price >UP, Supply exceeds demand price >DOWN.

Price is dropping and levels of trading are low.

Conclusion. The Market has now fallen out of love with bitcoin and sees it as Mickey Mouse and will not be taken seriously by the masses or

The Market is sitting on the sidelines with big bags of cash waiting and waiting until they see the signs of hitting the bottom and the Bounce.

My opinion is that as the volumes are low then the swings are happening through day trading and short term speculation.

I,for one, have a shed load of cash sitting on my exchange waiting and will look to get it on around $350 however will try and hold for $320 BUT if take off then I hope i dont miss the boat because it may be a very fast escalation.

Good Luck all

Not falling out of love because there are new players that pour new money everyday and a lot of money is waiting on the side lines to buy some BTC when it goes up again

A lot of miners need to sell and early adopters have many ways to spend their bitcoins online now and the websites where they spend it mostly sell the BTC they receive

when will Stunna provide fixed campaign ?

With fixed campaign, it just spent fixed expense (rather than pay per post )

When he's ready. Asking about it wont make it come any faster. Micro said it wont be at least for two weeks though, but that's not a gurantee. Maybe it will never come back, but if it does it'll probably only be open to Snrs and above again, but I'd just wait. As soon as theres news either Micro or Stunna will post about it.

A lot of members ran to advertise pocketdice but if PD re-opens his advertisement with a fixed price it will be very popular; something like 0.2/m for Sr and 0.24 for Hero 150posts mini

Well quite a few people aren't getting payouts.
Edit - didnt realise an asterisk means experiencing problems. Only add one next week if they dont pay everyone.

Yes of course , it is not a real problem the " * ; if you are still in the "pending status" maybe the campaign has reached the 100 participants . Try to contati

650  Economy / Speculation / Re: Price manipulation going on right now at the big exchanges on: September 28, 2014, 07:45:05 AM
Some chinese billionare use bitcoin to convert their yuan to usd without any limit, so btc price could go under the mining cost ( + 10-20 % ) in short term ( ask yourself how many billionare live in china and how many of them want to convert their yuan to usd and how many of them enough to keep the price down by dumping btc on usd exchanges) (+ otc buying and exchange selling)

Where is the buying on Chinese exchanges to support this theory?

The theory is that they bought mining equipment.  Wink

China is very active in Bitcoin but saying Billionaires use bitcoins to change their Yuan in USD is false because they don't; it would be a hassle and there are easier way to change it + They prefer buying businesses, other currencies or Gold than USD and they are correct

It is crazy that people buy the USD against the Yuan
651  Economy / Gambling / Re: Listing Betting Sites Total # Of Bets ++Dice INVEST Sites Daily Repot Here+ on: September 28, 2014, 07:40:18 AM
are there anyone gambling at dicenow? coz when i visit the site its like a ghost site cant see anyone gambling there

some days the stats are flat, no action, then for 2-3 days they have a surge. their BTC profit has gone up to its highest its ever been

It is like that for all Bitcoin casino because they are very dependant on whales

PocketDice will probably appear int the list in a few weeks because they are advertising on bitcointalk with a huge and great signature campaign
652  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin or Gold? What would you pick? on: September 28, 2014, 07:35:12 AM
both, plus a few kg bars of silver, cause why the fuck not. Gold and silver are essentially oil plays, in that it cost a shit load of energy to mine and refine each ounce.... as oil continues to get more expensive, and ore grades continue to decline, the cost has to keep going up. BTC because decentralization is my political philosophy

You are not the only one feeling like that

Bitcoin can stop wars : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YDk62HApDa8

Gold is very safe because it is hard to mine, has many applications and has been a store of value and medium of exchange for thousands of years
653  Other / Archival / Re: Updated Overview of Bitcointalk Signature-Ad Campaigns on: September 28, 2014, 07:30:52 AM
Campaign Name: Cointel.tk (Thread)
Payment period: Fortnightly
Minimum posts: 30 posts/week
Payments: Members — 0.0004BTC/post; Full members — 0.0007BTC/post; Senior members — 0.0011BTC/post; Hero members — 0.0013BTC/post;
Miscellaneous: No Escrow
Other Misc: 80 users max, created thread in self moderated thread, no other text allowed, 30 post min per week, 15 post max per day, ads? do not count, payments every 15 days.

I personally would not recommend joining the campaign.

Max 80 participants is not a problem, the pay is great and max 400posts a month means you can ean 0.52 as a Hero Member but refuses to sign an address with BTC (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;u=327051), refuses escrow or to pay in advance and only pays every 15days so it's quite a risk

Some registered so we will see if he pays, he may pay the first period but not the second, it's always the same problem
654  Economy / Speculation / Re: URGENT, Bitcoin is on the verge of collapse !!! on: September 28, 2014, 07:27:45 AM

People say Bitcoin collapsed but the price is still 4times higher than a year ago! 400$ a coin is not a collapse

If the BTC price does not rise, it will not be 4 times higher in December.

No but it will be 4times higher than 14months before  Wink

My point is the price is still relatively very high

Not for the ones who invested in 2014. Smiley

Thus the "relatively" high

The average price in 2014 must be 450-480$ so we are not too far away from this price; a bit more people may have bought higher than 480$ than lower than 450$ but still; there is still more winners than losers; let's be a bit patient, give it a few years!
655  Other / Off-topic / Re: IF YOU HAD 1,000,000 DOLLARS WHAT WOULD YOU BUY??? on: September 27, 2014, 11:59:35 PM
Easy.. Buy something that will generate income for another 50 years or more.

Which is? safe investment or risky one?

Maybe a mix of both and investments in different asset classes, industries and countries
656  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin or Gold? What would you pick? on: September 27, 2014, 11:58:52 PM
Gold because it's more solid, but Bitcoin wins when it comes to hidding it. Owning gold is a pain in the ass. It could be all stolen unless you have it on sight permanently and it could be a big problem trying to cross borders with it.

You can have your Gold in a Bank safe which is kind of safe of you can have it in a bank oversea or in Australia which is super safe

The time is coming...

We are only 3-6 months away from the next massive spike... and it will exceed all of your wildest dreams.

tell us more Roll Eyes

What is there to tell? Obviously you should be working on stocking up as many BTC as possible.

Either you believe or you don't Smiley

That is exactly what I have been telling everyone who will listen.   If you believe at all in the future of BTC, then you should be stockpiling as much BTC as you can afford right now.

If you are into gambling, it would also be a good time to gamble with BTC, because you can buy it so cheaply, and try to exponentially increase your holdings.

Each time you gamble you are expected to lose money so it is not a very good investment is it? Grin

The time is coming...

We are only 3-6 months away from the next massive spike... and it will exceed all of your wildest dreams.

Lots of us are feeling a new massive spike in price soon because it has always go like that, it usually happen a bit by surprise but past results cannot predict future results
Adoption, mining, traders, expectations and the state of the economy dictates the Demand/Offer of Bitcoin that is the cause of the price

This thread should be locked now I reckon. It serves no purpose really. It can be re-opened when and if Stunna decides to restart the campaign. If he does I'd open a new self-modded thread and delete any crap that gets posted in there.

It is still open for STAFF so don't know about locking the thread, we can discuss of the sig campaigns here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=615953.1600;topicseen

Members post here to say it's too bad the campaign stop and it should re-open or talk about sig campaign in general, discussion that fit better in the post quoted above
660  Economy / Speculation / Re: Crossed 500 USD - Bull Market returns ? on: September 27, 2014, 11:50:41 PM
Cant wait till we hit 2000 and fallling leaves the forum  Roll Eyes

that will take some time in order to achieve $2000 trade of bitcoin should be in billion.
I think this will take too much time or if we are lucky then just one big jump and all is done we have both options open right now for this

We saw 1000% in 2months already including last year which would give us a price of 4000$; it will happen when the market will understand that the western financial fiat system will go to the toilets : the USD will plunge, the FED will do more of what has not been working : more QE, more liquidity in the system and low interests rate; they will say it is the fault of russia, the war, ebola, banks ect. when it is actually the fault of central banks, governments and people that want free stuff from the government and more "security"

The more traders get into Bitcoin, the more this fluctuation increase, because all these traders will try to make some money using "Buy Low, Sell High". On the contrary, the more merchants get into Bitcoin, the more price will lead towards stabilization. These 2 facts are contrary to each other.

Right now, a lot of merchants are coming in and hence traders are taking down the price as they know the price have to go up. They are collecting coins at low price. By normal economics price will go up with grwoing usage and then these traders will make HUGE profit.

If you have more traders and more people shorting you should find the correct price more rapidly thus having going faster to a price stability
