641  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: December 27, 2017, 10:31:48 AM
Do you think it is still feasible to invest in Monero for the long run or should I wait for another dip below $300?

Dollar Cost Average if you plan on holding.

If you are trying to time the market, get a lucky rabbit's foot and pray to what ever deity seems most generous.

Automod deleted my guess for $777. Hopefully it doesn't delete it again.

Actually, why even people are comparing those coins, I cant understand about it. Both coins build with different mission and features. There is no real value to compare, both coins created on its own and with various of use.

Agree, IOT and a settlement layer for banking are different markets and have different requirements for success.

Verge is a shitcoin. They bolted TOR onto a clearnet and said, "Look Privacy!" You are better off use Bitcoin over TOR, at least there is more transactional noise to cover the sound of the feds going, "I see you."

Though they are making the most of the McCaffe pump.

Same bullshit, different day. The DCI article is complete BS. How many noob accounts are the fudsters going to create to repeat the narrative?

New wallet, project Q, industry adoption. Crazy times ahead. Ethereum watch your back.

U guys think IOTA can replace ether ? .. Just asking for opinions.

AFAIK Peaq will offer cheaper tokenization and works on Iota's network. I wrote "afaik" because I can't find data on what they will charge, if anything. Since Iota's network is free to use, I assume it will be cheaper.

656  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The paradox of alt coin currencies on: December 23, 2017, 01:59:57 PM
Because Bitcoin has the name and was growing fastest. The others were insignificant and likely to be fizzle out. But now they are starting to affect the price of Bitcoin. It is this increasing competition that brings into play the paradox making all crypto curriencies an unsafe investment driving people to pull their wealth out. Their growth is a threat to their growth.

We are already seeing what? Bitcoin didn't drop from 90% of the total market value until POS and ETH arrived, which are innovations, not clones.

I'll believe your paradox is valid when I see it--my hunch is that Bitcoin will be replaced atop the leaderboard by disruptive innovation.
657  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: IOTA is the next big thing on: December 23, 2017, 01:51:35 PM
already exists a wallet that works without problems. ? one without problems when viewing the iota?
Or do you still have to update the wallet often and then look for your iota again?
4 months ago, many people had problems with the wallet and moved the iota back to bitfinex

The UCL wallet is scheduled for first quarter of 2018. It's being tested now and should increase ease of use for all users, plus many of the wallet functions will be performed automatically, so reattaching, creating new addresses and things like that will be automated.
658  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: IOTA and WAVES Very Undervalued right now on: December 23, 2017, 01:36:22 PM
Why should the MIT participate in a FUD-campaign against IOTA? They just mentioned facts in the article...
I also think that the marketcap and price have risen too fast...it allready did the moon run imo.

You're confusing DCI with MIT. In fact that article (Joi's) was written in response to a positive article written by the MIT Review--seen here: https://www.technologyreview.com/s/609771/a-cryptocurrency-without-a-blockchain-has-been-built-to-outperform-bitcoin/

Does anyone fact check anymore?

Also, ComeFromBeyond's response stands on its own merit--even if MIT was out to get Iota--which it's not. He is merely countering Joi's claims. https://medium.com/@comefrombeyond/cfbs-comments-on-https-www-media-mit-edu-posts-iota-response-5834c7f8172d

As for moon runs, I think you underestimating Iota's chances of capturing a small precentage of the IOT market, which is estimated in 10-35 trillion dollar range, but I'll be glad to sell you back some (at a premium) when you figure it out.

659  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The paradox of alt coin currencies on: December 23, 2017, 01:20:53 PM
Thats my point of the paradox. They undermine the premise.

The supply of modern money is controlled by central banks to control the rate of inflation to promote investment and prevent hording.

Your point hasn't materalized since 2008 and the earliest, most cloned coin is still the largest market cap, so you are probably missing the obvious.
660  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The paradox of alt coin currencies on: December 23, 2017, 12:58:36 PM
It dosent take a genius to copy paste and promote to the next generation who dont want to drive up the price of existing coins,
ad infinite. As new coins grow they offer better returns and the existing ones suffer inflation.

My point is that those coins will be run by non-geniuses. I'm not betting on morons just because they may luck out on the pump and dump circuit. If anything, more coins means big names continue gaining ground as they at least have brand recognition, much like blue chip stocks.
