Listened to this on my commute this morning. Great interview with Daniel, unfortunately a bit choppy at the end. Interesting listening about the future plans for the masternode network with Evolution!

Happy 11$ everyone!
662  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DASH] Dash (dash.org) | First Self-Funding Self-Governing Crypto Currency on: August 11, 2016, 10:53:29 AM
What is that dash and go? Where can you is it? I went to the site and its not clear at all. Like if you set your own shop and add all the items, so the customer, could go scan, pay with dash and pack and leave?

I had a look and it's a nice proof of concept! Yes, the shop owner registers a product, price and dash payment address. The user scans a product and pays to the merchants registered dash address. It would be a hassle to manually add every item in a store to this system, or have the whole inventory located at a third party for privacy and competitive reasons. But the concept shows the strength at using Dash as a currency in the real world. I think it could work nice if the store owner could run the system locally in the store and that it was integrated with the current inventory systems in place. Just imagine a random user walking in, scanning some groceries and showing the receipt to the cashier on the way out.

This is how most grocery stores work in Sweden, except the shopper uses a handheld IR-scanner and after a few initial checks, the shopper doesn't even need to interact with the cashiers or other working personnel at the store. Of course random verification checks occur to make sure that people aren't trying to cheat and steal things. Using the shopper's smartphone instead of a dedicated scanner would be a more cost efficient way to integrate this kind of functionality to a store chain.

@wings.ai
In the WINGS Specification Series #1 post it states:
Quote
WINGS is going to leverage this consensus technology in order to create a last resort recovery for funds that are kept in the Rootstock side-chain. In the case the side-chain is breached, and funds are being transacted to a non-authorized address, a request will be submitted to the federation to cancel the transaction and restore the funds back.

How is this different from the way Bitgo and Bitfinex were setup? Surely the federated members holding the keys in Rootstock are not going to manually go through every withdraw request for moving the transactions to the bitcoin main chain? They would likely have an automated system that approves legitimate transaction regardless if a person had come over these funds in a non-legitimate manner? If so, then this last line of resort doesn't really help Wings, this would be the equivalent as theDAO attacker making a withdraw request, and it would go through without any problems as the attacker had the control of the funds.

I understand that it makes a good marketing point, but in reality, how much help is this last line of defence for stopping an attacker withdrawing funds from the Wings platform?
Looking forward to the coming white paper specifications, they make for good reading!

Advice time

Say that I want to cashout a (minor) amount of my Dash coming from my nodes into €

Right now, this process is extremely long and costs a lot. The best option looks like:

- I move my Dash from my wallet to an exchange, i.e. Polo
- I buy BTCs
- I move these BTCs to an exchange that operates in €, i.e. 247exchange (best option IMHO right now for €)
- I buy €
- I Cashout €

All the above passages cost some money, in some cases actually a huge % that makes absolutely suboptimal to change less than 1K€ (and even there it's bad).

Am I missing something? Is there a better way?

Also, what about FIAT gateways project?

Thanks in advance
You can take the step of the exchange out.  There are wallets with shapeshift integration that can convert Dash to BTC easily.  Personally, I like a mobile wallet like Coinomi (android) so I can trade when prices change.  Plus you can scan a QR code when sending to a btc to fiat processor instead of copying and pasting.  The Exodus wallet is available for your desktop and is really easy to use.  Jaxx also has the exchange option.  It will be adding dash soon and could be the first iphone dash wallet on the app store.

You can also use bitsquare which is a decentralized exchange.  You can exchange dash to btc and to fiat in small amounts.  The exchange rates don't look very good, but it is an option.

Hey Solarminer, maybe you can answer this; I installed the Exodus wallet the other day on my desktop. But it doesn't appear to have any security settings other than when backing up a wallet? I thought there would be an option to set a password and encrypt the private key, but I couldn't find such an option. Have you used the Ecodus wallet? Do you know if such a feature exists? I only have a few mbit in the wallet but it seems insecure if the funds are just sitting there, without any passwords. I have yet to send anything with the Exodus wallet so maybe I am missing something obvious.

Is this thing still on or did it die with the DAO?

The team buckled down on security after theDAO hack and the ethereum fork. Work is being done on the Wings platform, it's just been set back a matter of months from what the initial launch plan was. My guestimation is that we will see activity from the Wings team in September and October as they get more and more of the security concerns completed, although I have virtually nothing to back this claim other than reading between the lines of the latest blog posts.

As a popular proverb says " One Step Backward, Two Step Forward". I think devs are ready to unleash the potentials and more. Anticipating with a lot of promise. Getting my BTC ready and as well as ETH. My target 10k Wings token.

Do you know any news about the total amount of tokens, amount to be sold in a ICO etc? Otherwise your statement of 10K seems uncertain.

No information yet as to how many tokens would be up for grabs but I have a rough estimate as I have already accumulated a great number of Eggs so why stop there? Anyway my objective is achievable even if there is no official specs yet.

Sure, I think you are in a great position with all those eggs Wink
We'll probably know sooner then later as the team gets those blog post coming. I haven't finished reading the tech post, but it looked great from the little what I have read so far.

Unfortunately Dash is too small of an accepted currency to be used directly, so the only option, in most cases, is to go through Dash -> BTC -> Euro, or optionally Dash -> USD -> Euro. I had a quick check but did not find any good Dash<->Euro options. I have the same problem with my local currency so I have just chosen to use BTC if I need to withdraw in my local fiat currency. If you do find a good option, please let us know!

It's KVM 4vCPU, 4Gb RAM, 150GB Cached SSD storage, 2000GB Bandwidth. I have a swapfile enabled 75620 out of 4194300 used.

Thanks for your help  Smiley

I have two masternodes running on low end Digital Ocean droplets. On average I'd say that either one of them drops offline about once a week, but I have a cron entry that restarts the masternode again. I don't have a swap file active, so I figured that it was probably a memory issue. But looking at your beefy setup I'd start to think that it is another issue rather than mem or swap running out.

Sounds similar to me, other than my set up is beefier... What I usually find is that it will drop offline when it's close to getting payment. One of mine has just dropped twice in 24 hours (auto-restarted) and it's due for payment imminently. Weird.

Walter

Coincidental, that happened to me as well two weeks back for both masternodes at the time for payment. Both dropped out of the list and I couldn't have them restarted via the cold wallet until the end of the day. One of the nodes had a hardware problem on Digital Oceans part, the other was just unlucky I guess. I have a simple firewall setup on the node, but of course, I was thinking with my tinfoil hat, whether it could be that some entity was knocking the masternodes of the network. I'm not sure if flooding port 9999 with junk could make this happen or not. For the past week both masternodes have been running OK and a payment was made last night so who knows....

start node.py
then gui.py
and at last miner.py

Hey HCLivess,
I hope to find some time to test Bismuth, it's looking more interesting every update that is made.
I was hoping to run the test client on a gui less Linux server. Could I perhaps run a node on a server and use a gui wallet on OSX to connect to said server node? Or would it be more feasible to simply run the client in a non-gui mode and try to use command line for testing, sending, receiving etc? Is the gui needed for some functionality or simply being much more user friendly?

I would like to warn you that if someone says they earned $12 million or whatever and refuses to provide a proof of transaction, they are lying. Keep safe.

With the amount of fud and scams going around, sure anybody can make any kind of claims. "I have made a $_INSERT_NUMBER Dollars!!11oneone" That's what a large amount of posts here on BTCtalk are all about Wink Thanks for the friendly warning/reminder!

So, you are asking users to donate 1.5 BTC to get this listed on poloniex, and then for users to chip in and provide an additional 15 BTC for the initial development?
Maybe if you actually read the thread you would know what the 1.5 BTC is for.

OK thanks, I was too sloppy reading your post. My misstake.
Do you have a breakdown for what the 15 BTC will be spent on? A timeline for what work will be done first, second, third? Will you be releasing a roadmap with the planned features?

I cant wait anymore. Wings will go flying to the moon!

Whats thr actual price?

There is no information about the launch of Wings, the platform or its tokens. So the price is pretty much 00.00.
It is my understanding, that the team were preparing for launch, then theDAO got hacked, and the team asked for legal advise. Now they are working hard to fix any shortcomings that they where informed about. Once they are confident that the wings platform will not put them at risk as theDAO did to its developers, I'm sure the white paper will be released and we can study what the developers have been up to these pat months, as well as the features planned for the coming months/year.

Maybe DEV could setup a Timer for ICO start.. just to be up to date

A timer might be a bit unnecessary... but a rough time estimate what month they planned to launch would be helpful!
