661  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Recovering gambling addict stories on: February 22, 2024, 12:24:29 PM

I advise everyone to see this video, I'm not related to this person, but I can relate to his stories and the gambling addiction that most of us could have been suffering for years. This is the second video that I have been watching and they say the same things. Not just money they lose, but time and relationship. The other video that I saw that he was not even present with the delivery of his first and second kid, he was done gambling and trying to make money for the hospital bills but it turns out that he losses in both time.

Perhaps you have seen other videos as well and maybe share it here.

I haven't watched the videos related to him but based on your story, it doesn't seem like he is addicted to gambling? Not sure, but it seems that the gambling he did was to earn money to be used for the birth of his wife and for the expenses of his children. It's just wrong because it's always said and reminded that gambling shouldn't be made a source of income because there's a big chance that instead of making money you might just lose all your money, and when that happens, you'll definitely have a serious problem.
662  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Couple won the jackpot but split soon after! on: February 22, 2024, 12:05:32 PM
This is a sick story.

The lady never loved that man, this makes it all clear

Charlotte asked him via a friend to leave.

👆🏻 she asked the man to leave, via a friend, she can't even said it to his face directly, after they have celebrated the winning together and also have plans for the money, this is very cruel of the lady, I think the man is lucky, someone else could think about taking his life via poison or assassination.

Before reading the whole story, something in me already thought that the lady ruined it all, and I was right, this is the time she will see something wrong with the man, something that wasn't there before they won the ticket, if justice is to be served here, they must split the money into two, but I will like to ask the woman why now? Why is she letting go after money is involved?

Woman are crazy creatures, most of them are this deadly and you may never even notice it, until it get to the point.
Issues been raised after winning? You are definitely right about women. They are decievers, manipulators, pretenders and totally crazy once that greed of money kicks in, right?
Im not really that generalizing but i could do such thing because i have a worst experience with women in the past on which i could say that they arent something to be trusted.
This is the sole reason on why i do make myself that not mindful about settling down or having that marriage thing, because i do really tend to search up the girl that would be something that not just only
good when you do have the money and could really be with you on those hardest times.

Sad stories because of this kind of sudden decisions because of the involvement of money. Love could be replaced and could be broken instantly if we do speak about huge amounts.
plans would be mold out into their minds and doesnt care on the current relationship that they are with. Theyre fucki'n selfish.

Well, not all women are after mens money LoL. It's not because you've experienced something like that that you will imprint in your mind that they all have the same actions and intentions. You will surely find the right woman for you, the one who will help you in everything, support you and most of all, will not leave you or change you for money.
663  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Don’t play gambling with drugs or in half sleep on: February 22, 2024, 10:44:33 AM
I had a friend who use to play the gambling only when he consumed drugs,Sometimes he use yo win the money. But most of the time he loss the funds, when we have a chat on the weekend we shared our experiences. The reason of the loss in the drug consumption is the gambler will play the game without any hesitation to take risk. The gambling is the risky game, the gamblers who take huge risk some times make the huge multiple of betting dollars. But the risk doesn’t make him win, because the meaning of the risk is the possibility of losing and winning.Every month we meet each other, the odds between us is gambling.

My friend also added when he had huge winning in the night games without drugs,he had an habit of playing the gambling at the earning morning after wake up.It doesn’t mean an addiction,it was his dedication towards the game. But the sad part is he will loss sometimes if he wake up in the few hours sleep. When he had shared this I had advice him not to do the gambling in both in drugs or early morning games.Because we should not play the game at the early morning, because we are beginning the day.If the game give the loss in the early morning, the entire day will goes in a negative vibe. The new gamblers should take it as the lesson to avoid loss in gambling.

He said that if he doesn't take drugs, he loses, but the winning of a game is not based on that. It just gives him life and energy to be more active in gambling. It's sad to think that your friend suffers from two addictions that we know is one of the addictions that are hard to overcome, especially when they have a serious impact on a person's system. He is trying to win the game because he is using drugs, but the truth is that his system can no longer stop the drugs, his body is looking for them.

665  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It's stupidity to have thousands in Bitcoin using a software wallet on: February 21, 2024, 11:46:38 AM

I wouldn't know why it's stupid.
Before I used hardware wallets, I had for example in 2020 or something, or maybe 2021, some btc worth at least 50k and I stored it in my electrum wallet. Still using electrum by the way.
I never had any issues or security concerns since I know I downloaded the right wallet, had my keys/seed stored save and even if somebody would steal my device he would never guess my password or anything.

Well, call me stupid but I have always been happy with my storage.

Same here, since I started here with crypto investment, I've been using software wallets because hardware wallets are quite expensive, so far I haven't encountered any issues, we just need to choose a legit and safe software wallet especially since there are so many scammers around, inside or outside the internet. It's not stupid to use a software wallet, and I don't see anything stupid about using it, unless you use a not reliable and not trusted wallet or you don't research what is safe to use.
666  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling Wins: Your Money Was Returned to You. on: February 21, 2024, 10:21:24 AM
In gambling, you win some, you lose some; not just in gambling alone but in life generally, so i don't think this is a problem for gamblers. The problem in gambling is when you gamble with an amount that you cannot afford to lose, or with money that should have been used for more important aspects of your life. As long as you gamble responsibly, you will find a good balance between what you win and what you lose, and you'll be just fine.

Can we say that we have a balance between winning and losing a game? I'm not used to check or track my gambling activities, so I'm not sure if I win a lot or not. As you said, this is not an issue to a gambler because everyone is accustomed to when it comes to gambling that we don't get just winning, there is always that defeat. to be honest, I can't focus on my game if I'm constantly watching every move that I've done. As long as I manage my finances and betting strategy, I have no problem whether I win or lose. I just need to stick to the budget I have allocated for gambling so that I don't run out of money.
667  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A famous influencer lost more than $4000 in just 2 minutes. (2) on: February 21, 2024, 10:03:44 AM
Even with a rich guy gambling, still has this regret he just made, so how much more for an average guy to take the risk of spending his hard earned money just to gamble?

Have you experienced this kind of situation wherein you spend huge amount of money and then regret after the loss? Is your reaction the same with that guy on the video?

This video is proof of how quickly people get into debt after gambling. The man in the video was very greedy due to which he bet a huge amount of money at once in a gambling game as a result of which he lost the game. The social media video link you posted was on 16th February where he lost money like 250K in his native currency which is a lot of money for a man. But there is another video of him that he released on February 13 in which he breaks his headphones in frustration after losing.

The guy in the video, he will also be able to recover the money he lost especially when many people watched the video, he will earned a lot of money because of the content he made. If we put aside the guy being a vlogger or content creator in the video, we'll think that he risked a lot of money just for gambling and lost in the span of a few minutes, That's a normal reaction that he showed especially if the last money was the one he used, but if you're in the right mindset, are you going to gamble with the money you hold especially when there's no certainty whether you'll win or not? I bet No.
668  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Wednesday had been my bad day to gamble. on: February 21, 2024, 09:26:32 AM

Anyway, some will say it is just a superstitious belief but what if it keeps on happening?
How about you? Do you have that one day when you feel like you are not even winning whatever you do or whatever game you play?

Isn't that just a coincidence? Maybe you're thinking that you're going to lose every Wednesday, so you're going to manifest it then those negative things that you think will happen right away. You may need to get rid of that belief so that it doesn't come true. I believe in the power of the word or what we call manifestation, and if you want to have a positive and brighter day, you have to think about the positive things only. One of the things I do before I gamble is to clear my mind and avoid thinking about any negative things that could affect my actions and emotions. I'm used to doing it and it's a big help to me because when I gamble, I always think that whatever result I'll get is fine, just so I don't expect and I don't even think about whether I'll win or lose.

A couple, who had been dating for a mere three months before they won an eye-watering $1.9 million dollars, split soon after.

Source: https://www.news.com.au/finance/money/wealth/lotto-war-i-won-19million-lotto-with-my-girlfriend-then-she-dumped-me-out-of-the-blue/news-story/c1f568efd16ff7f0aa0efe72652cabe5

Based on the situation of this couple, regardless of them being split soon after the winning, I think the best thing to do here is to cut the prize into half so that tensions between the two parties will de-escalate and avoid any confrontation or emotional turmoil and stress that sometimes end up so badly on both of them. Ego clash won't bear good results that is why we need to keep ourselves calm and fair with others especially in a situation like this.

Have you ever tried something like this situation before?
So what is your thoughts on this, 50/50 good for you or nah?
Will you insist to have an ego battle if you are on the same situation?
If your answer is yes then Why?
And if no then why not?
What are the things you would do to resolve the issue?
How do you think you can handle this kind of situation?

If I were in the situation, I would have agreed to a 50/50 split because you both won the money, and then for us to be fair before we completely separate or lose communication with each other, settle the half payments to both parties. Depending on the behavior and ego of the couple, there are few who will fight for sure to get the full amount for some reason, but some partners know how to let go but then again, like I've said, it depends to a person, since money is involve, Everyone is going to fight for their rights. The couple has been dating for three months now, so it's probably not that deep in the relationship, so it's okay to split 50-50 in money.
670  Other / Off-topic / Re: Having a regular/steady income is important as a gambler. on: February 21, 2024, 07:25:01 AM
Gambling for fun is indeed a safe choice, but not everyone can do it. There are times when they are still greedy for chasing wins after earning more than their initial funds and that can be detrimental without them realizing it. The need to remain alert when things don't go as desired and stop when things can no longer be controlled.
Well it's their own choice, no one force them to gamble if they can't control themselves. Even though it's bad for them, but at least they give contribution to other people because they enrich the casino, it makes the owner able to pay salary for the employees and they will pay tax to the government.

So, it doesn't looks really bad right? Cheesy

Gamblers all over the world enrich the casino to take care of the business and pay for tax and employees as you said. But that doesn't mean that the players shouldn't mind being careful about spending their money. Wagering one's salary on casino drastically takes down the happiness of the gambler, when he losses a lot. Hence, a salary earner despite enjoying his gambling habit, needs to be mindful of his money and the ways he spends it on casinos. As things could get wrong on his side, while the casino improves in their business.

first things first: your happiness shouldn't be that much attached to money
way better to live like that than to be happy if you make some money and sad if you don't

but I totally agree that one should gamble in a responsible way.
that is easier said than done, though

I beg to disagree, How can you get or do things that make you happy if you don't have money? We all know that even the smallest little thing that you want, you have to spend money to get it. If you want to relax and unwind? You will need money to pay for it. So, we can't tell others that money should not be the basis for everyone's happiness, that we shouldn't attached our happiness in money because we live in this time where everything or even the simplest thing in the world is made up of money.
671  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you feel excited while gambling on: February 21, 2024, 06:57:58 AM
I think it's very common for a new gambler to feel increased joy while gambling.
It first takes a little getting used to, but afterwards it's like your body might be asking for a fix.

If you feel like it's hard to control impulses, it might be a good idea to go off the site for a while. There's certainly no need to gamble every day. And if you do gamble without control or a budget preset then you might also run in financial trouble. Gambling really is enjoyable but should be limited.

This is the kind of feeling that almost all of us have experienced, with the excitement of trying to gamble, the expectation of the possible outcome of the game increases and in the end you will lose. funny but it's true and based on my own experience. There are some games that you don't think are gambling because you can really enjoy the moment you play, especially when you have companions who just chill while betting and gambling, it makes the atmosphere easier when you're just chilling with your friends, especially if you're gambling in actual casino houses.
672  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you won a bet with your last cash? on: February 20, 2024, 09:28:05 PM
Luck is not something that comes all the time and that's what makes it special when it comes to you while you are gambling, some people cheat when they gamble and they said is luck which are all lies but inside them they already know that it want luck but cheating.
However I was lucky to win a bet with my last stake some days ago and I am happy for that, that's why I have to bring it here let's discuss about it, whether you have also win some amount of money with your last stake. I went to a betting shop around my locality then I bet with $10 and lose all of them so I was holding  up to $1 separately for transporting my self back to my residence, but funny how I staked with my transport money and won.
Although, I had more money on  my account that I can use for transporting my self back to my house if incase I lost the physical cash, that was why I wasn't afraid to stake with it.

If I were in your position, even if I say that I have other money in the bank that I can take anytime in case I lose gambling, I won't even bet the last money I have from the budget for gambling. why? because I don't want to risk the rest of my money, I don't want to get to the point where I have to do it again and again, the spending budget I set for myself will be destroyed if I myself can't control my spending limits. It doesn't mean that you can bet the last money you have that you are not afraid, maybe our mentality is different when it comes in being a risk taker. It's just a matter of luck whether you win or not.
673  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling mistake repeated by the gamblers on: February 20, 2024, 12:29:43 PM
As far as I am concerned, one should not expect more from gambling. When the gambler has the need to get more expectations, he will become greedy and this greed leads the gambler to lose. Gambling should be considered if there is a risk of losing. If the gambler can keep himself calm then he will not make the same mistakes again and again and will not go towards addiction.

The pioneers have been saying this for a long time in gambling, but no matter what advice they give to other people, they still end up addicted. Especially when they have experienced a big win, there is a growing greed and eagerness to win more prizes. If they expect to win a lot more, that may be the reason for them to lose more and run out of money, because they can no longer control themselves and their minds, they don't care what they are doing because the only thing that matters to them is to win and get a lot of money in their gambling.
674  Local / Pilipinas / Re: May idea ba kayo mga kabayan? on: February 20, 2024, 11:47:45 AM

675  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is your state on mind if your son stole your money to gamble? on: February 20, 2024, 11:30:03 AM
Any good parent would have been angry, but they would also be concerned. The parent should worry about the childs state of mind, when he had to steal from his parents and questions should be answered... on why he did that.

They should determine if the child are addicted to gambling and if he is, then their main concern must be to get help for their son, not on how they will get the money back.  Roll Eyes

Some parents are able to communicate with their children with gentle and care, but some parents are not vocal or expressive so they can't have time to talk to their children. This is one of the problems that a family has that causes their children to do something inappropriate because of lack of care and guidance from their parents. If you have this parent-child relationship with your kids, you will know what your child is doing in their life, They are also the ones who are willing to tell stories or update on what is happening in their lives. .
676  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling addiction causes loss on: February 20, 2024, 10:34:27 AM
It's difficult to advise people who are addicted to gambling because people who are addicted to gambling don't need advice from anyone if they have no intention of stopping. Those who lose money on gambling sites and are still able to gamble will continue to do so until they can get back the money they have lost so far, even if you tell them that there is no point or if they suffer further losses, this unacceptable by gambling addicts because they believe that one day their money will come back again if they keep trying without stopping.

You don't need to bother trying to think of a way for your friend to recover because he himself has no intention or determination to stop, no matter how much you want to stop him. If he doesn't want to stop then he will keep doing it because he gambles using his own salary, unless he is giving other people trouble, maybe you can force him to stop and take him to a professional center treat people who are addicted to gambling because only they can handle it.

Your opinion is absolutely right, it is very difficult to advise someone who is addicted to gambling even though it is the best for him if he really does it and will benefit him in the future. However, advice alone will not work for gambling addicts because they think it is the right thing to do in order to win at gambling.
And when the addict experiences a downturn in his life, he will definitely regret his actions and think about why he didn't follow his friend's advice.

Once a person is addicted to gambling, no matter what worst experience they have, try to observe, they will repeat what they do as if they did not learn from what they experienced. They may feel regrets at first, but they will continue to do things they should have avoided. Truly that giving an advice to other people, especially gambling addicts is not that easy as we think because it really depends to a person how they will accept and apply those advices to their life.
677  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling friendly countries on: February 20, 2024, 09:37:43 AM
Why did you ask this question? I do not think anyone will want to relocate because of gambling to be tax free.

I do some findings about it and I saw this online https://www.vegasmaster.com/gambling-tax-free-countries

It might not be very accurate but when I check another site, I saw some countries that I saw on this site there.

Maybe OP wants to migrate to a tax free country so he can enjoy his winnings in gambling, It may be that OP won the game a lot, but the tax cuts him a lot so he thought about which country is tax-free when it comes to gambling. who knows? Upon checking on the internet, there's still a lot of gambling friendly countries out there that collects low tax fee but still there's a tax payment. OP should try to go to Australia and Italy, as per research both country is known as a gambling paradise because it has no tax on winnings, that's why many tourist and locals prefer to gamble there.
678  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you stick to some Casinos or do you try out new ones? on: February 20, 2024, 09:02:39 AM
Gambling on other casinos will not make you gamble more because if you are an addict, a single casino is enough to spend your money and be losing.

Gamblers may be gambling on many sites, but I noticed with me that I prefer just one of them that have the best features that I need.

Do I gamble on other casinos? Yes but not frequent.

That's right, and gambling in other casino is too normal to those pioneer in gambling. I mean, There's nothing wrong if you're not that loyal to one casino site only, It doesn't make you any less of a person if you want to try and explore something new environment and experiences. Besides, Just like in a career, you will grow more and you will gain more knowledge and experience s if you're doing job hopping. Gambling in different casino sites/houses doesn't mean you're a gambling addict. As long as you know how to manage and how to handle yourself, your emotions, decisions and spending habits, then you're not supposed to call a gambling addict.
679  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The person who can’t control emotions in gambling will never earn money from it on: February 19, 2024, 01:06:01 PM
Being able to get hold of the emotions helps the gambler to be in charge of his decisions. When the emotions are not in order, the gambler only gambles to feed his fantasies of winning big and becoming made through gambling. Emotions can be filled with thoughts that won't help the gambler to make good decisions. If a gambler is only gambling without being conscious of his emotions, he'd definitely be at risk. Gambling has to do with the emotions, that's why it hurts most of the times, when we lose money. Not caring for the pains or feeling no remorse about how money is being lost while gambling, can be a problem in the life of a gambler. However, having a stable emotion is quite great and sound for a gambler, but doesn't make any difference in the way the gambler plays or wins his games. I think it's a safety measure for the gambler to save his funds.
There is a downside to this, if the player constantly restrains his emotions, they can have a cumulative effect, something like a snow globe. Sooner or later it needs to be released somewhere, because no person can keep everything to himself, it’s not natural. I have seen many examples of successful players, and I noticed that they are not robots, but real people, and even they accumulate negative emotions during the game, but they do not throw them out at the gaming tables, but in life, I mean in a positive sense. This mainly involves sports such as basketball or the gym. Stage 2 is high moral recovery such as family vacations and travel. This allows them to purify themselves in a moral sense. The main thing that I emphasized to myself is that they simply direct these flows in the right direction. Many emotional and inexperienced players should have tried this experience for themselves.

I think it requires some extra effort to master this strategy, but it has a good effect on the gambler. Being able to redirect the negative emotions to something positive in the real life. Yeah, as humans the wrong emotions can accumulate depending on the results of the game. But in a situation whereby the gambler is able to avoid the negative emotions in the first instance, he wouldn't bother about possessing this skill you mentioned. All he'd need will be the stage 2, going for vacations and reaching out to distant relatives. That's a fine way of reviving the emotions of the gambler to think normally and mingle with non-gamblers. As gamblers after having a stressful session, one needs to cool off his brain and have a rethink on the next gambling session.

On point! it takes a lot of time and effort to finally master that kind of controlling emotion strategy and it's not easy as we think, Sometimes, no matter how hard we try to follow the rules that we've set on ourself, there is another side of our mind that convinces us to do something we are forced to avoid. It's hard to explain this experience, but as you mentioned, it can help us to think about whether we can turn negative emotions into positive ways. Negative emotions are valid and should not be invalidated, but we should know how to manage them.

A normal circumstances a marriage is being determined by male gender and the secondly the responsibility of family should be carried along with both side but the most important person that is the head is the man in the family not the woman so every man in the family have more responsibility to take care of the family with its own money not a woman's money they functions of woman is to support to render help to the man so that there will be not be loophole for the family I think that many people misunderstood the functions of both parents for a family

In today's generation, most of the roles inside a home are equal, there are also many working wives who make money like their husbands, there are even a few who earn more wages than their husbands and I see nothing wrong with that as long as they do the same duties in their families. It's not a big deal now who earns the most, it's better that you both work, earn and take responsibility for your family especially since we know the hardships of life today, if you really want to save and improve your life, both of you should work together.
