No that is not likely. The reason theDAO caused a hardfork was both because of the ETH holders buying into the ICO and the risk of having the attacker controlling a whole lot of ETH when Ethereum goes to PoS. The Ethereum foundation would probably never want another hardfork just because of a small team screwing things up with the implementations of a ETH contract. Just see what kind of mess there is now with ETH and ETC.

Hello Tante, How did this appear? Something that you could see in the logs? I had both of my masternodes go down a couple of weeks ago, but they are running again fine for the moment.
Do you have an active swap partition or a swap file on your droplets? I just checked and Digital Ocean discourages users from setting them up, but maybe that is an alternative if the ram ran out and the system had to kill the process that was allocating too much memory.

lokojones was talking about the Waves ICO and how he is disappointed with the outcome after the coin launch. He was hoping for another ICO scheme for Wings as to not have a similar outcome; dumping tokens on the exchanges right after start.

Looks nice MCM! Will this be visible on a monitor next to the vending machine? Nice to see how fast the masternodes lock the transaction and it is confirmed by the network. The logs might help the more technical attendees to see how the network operates, also providing a stark contrast to how long things take on the BTC blockchain.

You haven't missed anything yet as Wings is not finished for release. There has been no announcement when they will release, no announcement about the white paper, no announcement about exchanges etc. I too believe that Bittrex might add Wings at some point, but no info has been announced by the developers.

Instead there is an ongoing egg hunt for egg bounties that may get converted to wing tokens at some point. Other then that, nothing else has been published.

My guestimate, two scenarios:
1. Once the ether is released to the investors we will see a large dump on the exchanges. Large holders will try to buy back at a lower price to gain more ether.
2. Those who don't sell keep their ether for a longer position and hope for a price appreciation long(er) term.

I see the whole DAOhub fiasco as something they will want to put behind themselves and more forward. It's not so doom and gloom as many would want to believe. In 6 months most will have forgotten about theDAO and will be jumping on the $Next_Big_Thing(tm). Sure, the whales of Ethereum where also invested in theDAO, so they have the incentives to clean up the mess. But if they had chosen not to, the attacker could also cause a problem down the road as Ethereum is moving from PoW to PoS. Also, I think their could be liability concerns for the people behind theDAO if the funds were depleted and the investors lost a lot of money. They would probably start coming after the slock.it folks and ther security teams that checked the code prior to launching the DAOhub ICO.

Well... the platform will need to launch first and the tokens need to be released as well... and who knows if Bittrex will take Wing tokens?

I asked this way back when, but never got an answer other than "wait for the whitepaper".
The Waves team are obviously running at least one instance of their node, so they could very well say oh we are running xx nodes on so and so hardware. We anticipate that a normal operated node would require a dedicated server running Linux with 8gb ram and a beefy cpu. That would be sufficient for most who are thinking about running a node or not. In the meantime we are all asked to wait for the whitepaper, and hope that such hardware requirements are given in the document.

Personally I would expect the whitepaper to focus on the Waves platform itself and discuss the planned exchange features, platform security and reputation system. I'm hoping for some info about the platform requirements but I guess it's just a continued wait until the team decides they want to publish this info.

Just a fyi, the icocountdown was always just a placeholder. The Wings devs have not given any dates for release, they keep working and will release the whitepaper once it's ready.

All ICO threads start informative but get filled with "my body is ready"-posts, pictures of Lamborghinis, various kinds of boats, rockets to the moon and in general, an impossible to follow thread filled with junk, as the date for the token launch gets closer.... So far this thread has had a healthy lack of such content

Could easily be machine translated junk articles (google translate) that are being published under a number of accounts or multiple users who all use the same email address. As I have translated some texts I know that it is hard work if you want to do a good job. It's not just about making a translation into a different language, but making a readable text that makes sense in the context with the appropriate terminology for crypto and economics takes a long time. If someone is just doing a copy&paste in google, in an attempt to game the system, then by all means have that account or accounts banned.

Sorry to hear that people are trying to cheat the system. But I guess that's what happens in the world of crypto and the Internet. There is literally no cost in trying to cheat but large gains if you succeed. Good that you caught the fake articles and good about getting those captchas in place.

It wouldn't matter so much if two coins have the same name. If/when enough mining power supports one of the two forks then that side becomes the winner. Those who stayed on the wrong side of the fork, eg continue to use an old wallet/daemon and continue PoW on another branch would just be orphaned on the main chain. So, in effect, staying on the wrong side of the fork becomes a waste.
