681  Economy / Economics / Re: Martin Armstrong Discussion on: July 09, 2015, 06:56:17 PM
[...]
I really think Armstrong works for TPTB. He is advocating a one-world currency reserve and world domination by TPTB. That is coming and inevitable, and our escape is the Knowledge Age and our own decentralized, scalable, anonymous cryptocurrency.

This is a really bold comment from you, but if it proves to be true it would also explain a lot of things concerning his predictions. I remember having a private conversation about it IIRC. FWIW, I think you're somewhat wrongly posed AFAIC the way of the things to come. Progress, I'm afraid is indeed inevitable, but we must understand as a species that EVERYBODY is into the same vessel!

No one can escape a fate that it's been destined for the others... That alone should trigger a self preservation mechanism that will eventually overcome the destruction issues. Of course, there's always the chance that TPTB have already studied this scenario and they've prepared a plan B. And I don't rule out that B stands for Bitcoin...

Right fellas. I head to Greece this weekend for 2 weeks and will give some updates in a dedicated thread here in the spec forum if people want it..

If you're not lying, then if I were you I would cancel my trip immediately.  Expect complete public unrest and total chaos to breakout there in about 2 days.  Think Arab Spring, riot-in-the-streets type chaos.

You forgot dragons spitting fire and Freddy Krueger with his new saw, cutting off heads on the streets... Roll Eyes

Nice article from Forbes concerning the Greek crisis by John T. Harvey. Worthy reading.

Quote
Five Reasons Why The Greeks Were Right

On Sunday, Greek citizens overwhelming rejected the bailout plan penned by its creditors. Subsequently, many observers have condemned the Greeks as lazy, ungrateful and unwilling to accept the consequences of their spendthrift ways.

But the Greeks were right to say no. What lenders were trying to force upon them is patently unfair and ultimately destructive to the entire EU. The real problems are inherent to the euro system itself and treating Greece like an irresponsible teenager who must be scolded by their parents is both a mis-diagnosis and a guarantee of continued problems.

This goes to those who missed the memo:

Quote
To whom it may concern,

Since April 22, 2015, we have been making available an online bankruptcy claim filing system (hereinafter referred to as the “System”) that enables users of MTGOX Co., Ltd.’s Bitcoin exchange (hereinafter MTGOX Co., Ltd. will be referred to as “MTGOX” and the said users will be referred to as “Users”) to make online filings of their bankruptcy claims, etc. at our website (https://claims.mtgox.com) in relation to MTGOX’s bankruptcy proceedings (case number 2014 (fu) no. 3830 at the Tokyo District Court; hereinafter referred to as the “Bankruptcy Proceedings”).

Currently, the bankruptcy trustee is accepting bankruptcy claims filed by Users using the System (the “Online Method”). The period for filing bankruptcy claims was until May 29, 2015, but the bankruptcy trustee has been accepting filings of bankruptcy claims after the expiry of the said period.

The bankruptcy trustee decided that the deadline for filing bankruptcy claims using the Online Method will be 12 noon on July 29, 2015 (Japan time).

Therefore, after 12 noon on July 29, 2015, the only things that a User will be able to do using the Online Method will be to (i) view bankruptcy claims that he or she has filed himself or herself and (ii) transfer his or her bankruptcy claims to another person. Further details regarding transfers of claims which are mentioned in sub-paragraph (ii) will be announced through the MTGOX website (http://www.mtgox.com/) at a later time. However, nearer the time of distribution, the bankruptcy trustee is planning to give Users an opportunity to use the System again to make changes to the details of their bankruptcy claims other than increasing the amount of the bankruptcy claims that Users have filed (for example, changes in their addresses or company names) (Users will not be able to file new bankruptcy claims or to increase the amount of the bankruptcy claims that they have filed).

General instructions and FAQs regarding filling of bankruptcy claims and details of how to file a bankruptcy claim if you are unable to use the System, etc. are available in the news release section of the MTGOX website (http://www.mtgox.com/). Please read these news releases as well.

This e-mail address (mtgox_trustee@noandt.com) is used only for the purpose of sending messages, and we are unable to check or respond to any replies sent to this e-mail address. We intend to provide information regarding the Bankruptcy Proceedings by posting it on MTGOX’s website (http://www.mtgox.com/ ), so please check this website on a regular basis.

We thank you for your cooperation.

Interesting thread. I'm not much for chart analysis, but something tells me that Bitcoin is about to make a big move, and if you are too impatient right now, you might get suckered into a big LTC pump and dump in the meantime. We'll see I guess.
It is EXTREMELY risky to trade LTC now, I agree. I will enter for a scalp at 7.5 up to 10-12.

But if it goes 12.5 I will go all fuckin in with a stoploss always 3 boxes below the current top (live PnF)

Klee, you see now? That's why I asked to observe LTC. IF I'm right, it seems BTC will shortly follow... Let's see! Smiley

Looks like it...

Everyone jumped ship, I guess they got tired of the manipulation?

Maybe bitcoin will become the altcoin of litecoin...

...I can't believe what i'm seeing... I'm just too uncertain to hit that buy button.

Looks like a bubble to me though. Litecoin also crashes..

It's possible litecoin has become the steam-valve of frustrated bitcoin traders who are sick of the price suppression and pump and dumps.

Expect a large portion of this pump in LTC to land into BTC as a safe haven. It has happened before - it will probably happen again. BTW: The ATH is still far off, the log inclination though shows that we're en route for a burst. Just my 2c.

Thanks for implementing PnF for LTC. Seems to be the primary signal for a BTC bull run so far. So if it goes up, expect a similar route for BTC too. Wink

Well, I missed that. Citygroup mines its own Bitcoin called "Citycoin"? Premined digital currency for banks? Smells like Ripple.

IMF states today, that a Grexit could seriously affect USofA economy. Nevertheless, it seems China stock market signals something far more significant than a "Grexit". Everything's painted red over there. I bet this could get worse before it can get any better, which might signal the next rally up for BTC. Over 300 until Sunday anyone?  Roll Eyes

one sure thing is that bitcoin wont surge until some big macro event, ie. grexit, china crash, usofa shut down etc...

i really hope it all unfolds this summer, rather than in september or later..

edit: my money is on no deal by sunday between greece and UE, hence probably a 10-20$ surge in bitcoin. but then again, those negociations seems they would never end.

It's a 60/40 pro "no deal" at the moment. If this proves to be the case, I bet China will respond viciously. I still don't know though if the current market moves over there and EU situation is entangled. Anyway; we will know by Sunday I guess. Yesterday everybody at the Eurogroup presented a "strong stance vs Greek gov't". I bet it will get worse as days passing by... Tongue

macsga - how are people coping with the 60 euro a day bank withdrawal limit?
Are people still able to pay bills, direct debits, mortgages? Is it just cash withdrawals that have limits or card transactions too? It must be terrible for people who weren't prepared.

We're getting along... People who are in sync with tech can pay their bills via web banking, CC or ATMs. The situation is critical though for the elder. Today a poor guy fainted while in line to get his pension share of 60eur. (http://www.newsit.gr/default.php?pname=Article&art_id=415939&catid=6)
It's not good to see these things happening to elders. Other than that, life goes on smoothly. I guess we're not so tighten up with money (I personally, never was). I'm prepared for the worst case scenario though. I don't think there will be any viable deal without a haircut or (at least) postponing the loan's doses for some time to come... Undecided

I understand what you mean ok. GCar would be like GShop instead. People willing to accept GCoin would put their
details and location in. Then customers would then know where to go.

I would estimate the following costs / needs.
Re-program GCar to be GShop, setup and host for 12 months $1000+ (the logo alone is $120)
Promotion via Facebook in the area $1000+ and a support group locally
I think you would need an office on the ground as a starting point.
Peter in World of electronics invests in these things but I'm not sure if
he's looking for idea's at the moment.
I think this would be a very very big undertaking for someone. An interesting idea ok.

Best
Greg.

This is pretty much right. The current (major) problem though lie in the fact that no one can buy ANYTHING outside of Greece with their money (except if they go for a trip - or pay with BTC). Thus it would be virtually impossible to fund such a business (even at those costs which are very small IMHO, I couldn't fund my part Sad ).

Setting up an office here would have to be the worst part though; according to the proposed measures a new business will be eligible for a 29% Tax. Plus some legal advice concerning the "money transmit" issues (no clear legal background about this). So, I'd say this could only be orchestrated as a kickstarter project maybe ?...

I really can't say in what way such a thing will work out under the current economic situation in Greece. Sad

Greece debt crisis: 'No concrete plan' before summit

Greece has submitted "no concrete proposals" for a new bailout, at a key meeting of eurozone finance ministers, Malta's PM says.
Joseph Muscat tweeted that this "doesn't help this evening's eurozone leaders' meeting" in Brussels.
The eurozone had urged Greece to submit fresh plans after its people rejected a new draft bailout in a referendum.
Greek PM Alexis Tsipras is to address the European Parliament on Wednesday, a Greek government source said.

http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-33426328

Tomorrow Tsipras will address the EU leaders. This is it. The "End Game".

News update:
It seems even though that a new set of measures have not been proposed, mr Tsakalotos presented Greece's new plan to the EwG and mr Dijsselbloem said that "they were pretty good". Didn't rule out a new deal. Hmm...
697  Economy / Economics / Re: Grexit on: July 07, 2015, 09:46:06 AM
Here it comes:

Quote
German Chancellor Angela Merkel and her French counterpart Francois Hollande have called on Greece to make “serious” proposals. There is no such thing as debt forgiveness as the German’s received in 1953. Merkel has sold the Euro under the pretense there would be no bailout for southern Europe. Any money lent must be repaid. So it does not matter that the underlying structure cannot support that expectation. Her personal career now depends upon that event no matter how unreasonable.

Greek PM Alexis Tsipras is due to address a summit of Eurozone leaders on Tuesday. However, he is ignoring his own mandate – end austerity. Why he continues to try to even negotiate with the EU when it is clear the same line of thinking that has created the crisis will not provide a solution. This entire Euro Crisis will spread between not and October and things are going to get worse before they get better. So do not expect the Euro or the markets to understand this instantly. They do not comprehend just yet the depth of this crisis.

Well, he has it right. I could not agree more, since the EU French & German leaders have been censured for their myopia in treating a non-payable debt as "healthy". This is seriously hurting the EU idea and establishment. Tsipras had his chance to go forth and initiate a more "flexible" policy in order Greece to overcome this issue and prepare the road for the bumps ahead.

Armstrong keeps predicting that the containment is about to happen on October 1st 2015. I can't argue, nor agree since this date is not here yet and I cannot understand his semantics in order to make such a bold prediction. I do have in mind though that he predicted (among other things) the Lehman Brothers fiasco back in 2008, with great accuracy, and that truly worries me...

for getting a start, may be dev team can try to distribute/giveaway  via FB to Greek's community

give them a tool then they might be find the way out

The idea is pretty simple here. The app you have with very few modifications could very well serve the cause. People who have this kind of payments enabled could be "transaction hotspots" or if you prefer "POS".

For instance: I want to buy a glass of homemade lemonade and I'm looking who's on my territory has it. I click on the icon, I see the price and order my lemonade. We can then meet at a specific point via text message or if it's a shop I just go visit and scan his QR code and pay via GCN. This could be then extrapolated to a virtual bazaar of used stuff like old cells or computers.

Distribution: Marketing is King here. FB is the way to do it maybe even integrate the "list of friends" and get the job done via fb tips etc.
699  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: July 07, 2015, 05:54:39 AM
I don't hate LTC, I know stating how useless it is makes me sound like I'm a hater or jelly but I don't care, it was useless compared to BTC at 0.007 and still useless at 0.02. Most cryptonote coins beats LTC any day in my book.

I don't think that it has to do with hate, or direct/indirect usability compare of any alt to the other(s). I think it's about maturity. LTC has had its time for quite a long time now. It has fast transactions (compared to BTC), high volume, relatively easier to buy and distribute vs the XMR. OTOH, XMR is superior tech-wise, but that doesn't render LTC useless. Plus the fact that every single exchange out there supports it! So there you have it. Maturity is something we have to wait to happen with XMR. After that happens, it will reach its righteous place.

So if Greece makes a deal with the EU is that good or bad for bitcoin?

A meeting is supposed to take place today in Greece on that topic.

IMHO, Greece & EU deal has a very small impact to BTC's price. The fact is that so many other things, are now ready to fall apart and they are much - MUCH bigger. Greece used to be the decoy that hid the main flaw of the ecosystem. Now that we're in front of a solution (whatever that might be), chances are we will have to face the music on a global scale. And NO, I don't think that "print more" will work this time...  Undecided
