681  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [MYR] Myriad - Multi Algo - SHA or Scrypt or Qubit or Skein or Groestl on: April 19, 2014, 07:18:21 PM
The ratio won't be linear, if you have say a 6950, it will be faster at groestl than a similar 500kh/s scrypt card. (like an r9 270x)
682  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Whattomine - profitability website with basic api. on: April 19, 2014, 06:20:28 PM
The site looks great. I'll definitely be a frequent visitor.

A couple suggestions/comments:

--I have an R7 240. I don't know what the X11 hash rate is, nor do I necessarily care. I want to zero out that parameter as not to skew the results, but I am not allowed to. Instead, I enter in a 1. This workaround is fine for my purposes, but I feel there should be another way. Maybe you can put a checkbox next to each algorithm?

--Scrypt-N vs scrypt-jane/scrypt-chacha is really no different for mining. The Scrypt-N could be renamed Jane hash rate (Nf10).

--I would suggest "NFactor 10", "NFactor 11", "NFactor 12" and so forth for the names of each grouping--I don't think there is another type of 'NFactor'. There are many coins with scrypt-chacha out there:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Aj3vcsuY-JFNdC1ITWJrSG9VeWp6QXppbVgxcm0tbGc&usp=drive_web#gid=0

--The other addition to put it over the top is again to have a 'Hardware Results (User Inputs)' link/section. People will surely rather rely on someone else's real world hash rate instead of going through the trouble of finding it themselves every time. Or you can just link to sairon's yacoin-specific version of what I'm talking about: http://yacoinwiki.tk/index.php/Mining_Hardware_Comparison

Thanks again for this great site. Do you have a YAC address for me to send a tip?

Hey Beave, actually scrypt-n (like vert) is NOT scrypt chacha but normal scrypt (salsa) with a higher n factor of 11 vs 10.

As for the rest, good ideas, the checkbox thing would be nice, and adding an n factor calculator with a list of coins would make it the absolute best calc out there (which already kinda is Wink ).

I can give the op results for most cards, for all those algorithms, whenever he wants to implement a few presets.
683  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Primecoin GPU miner: up to 1.4 chains / day on a 280x on: April 18, 2014, 08:10:28 PM
This miner is still really capable, just gotta be patient and it'll pay for itself.

Block time is something like 1 every 2 days now.

Or maybe less, it's still good.

685  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: KNC Miner [NEPTUNE 3000GHS] GROUP BUY ALL SOLDOUT on: April 18, 2014, 01:17:48 AM
Knc's in BFL mode eh...beware!

Chuck, hurry up with the refund, thing's gonna get ugly with these swedes.

EDIT:

Read this guys: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=575499.0

Excellent opportunity. I'd buy a share from one of those rigs.

I am not quite sure why everybody act so surprised by that.
It was obvious that the introduction of the gpu in the game would cause a large increase of the difficulty...

...which is good for the coin.

I'm mining AND buying XPM before it bursts into the 0.003-0.005 range.
Consider yourselves warned. :p

Yep given that Primecoin is the only one of its kind and is at the cutting edge of mining for that type of proof-of-work, GPU mining only solidifies XPM with security.

Litecoin had the same type of start. Initially for a few months it was only CPU miners then came the GPU miners (not in hoards), but then it got more popular and then asics are on the horizon.

I suspect if XPM gets worth $10+ per coin you will see asics get developed for it. This would be exciting as the industries that utilize prime number chains would have a reason to pay attention to the network as longer chains get discovered.

We're on the same wavelenght here :p

Super bullish, trend is starting to form...but well, don't alert everyone lol
687  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][YAC] YACoin ongoing development on: April 17, 2014, 09:16:50 PM
Crazy. So 270x and nothing "better". Prolly some 750ti love too.

Only 270x 4gb, 2gb is a bit mediocre...750 ti 2gb is amazing :p
688  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][YAC] YACoin ongoing development on: April 17, 2014, 07:55:41 PM
Hello Yacoiners Smiley

Any eta on block explorer?

Knock knock, anyone here?

Do you guys gpu mine this efficiently? Or only for sports Wink
Yes,

block explorer - just need to PM sairon.  I see it's erroring, which is frustrating sometimes.

GPU mine efficiently - two words "hell yes".  I'd tell you how profitable it is, but I would rather you be a buyer of it than a miner Cheesy

I ran some numbers and I just cant see it. Even if you get 6khash from 1000khash scrypt equiv.(what I doubt), you are still going to get 0.003 as opposed to 0.005(VTC).

Am I missing something?

Speed is not linear...I get 2.5kh/s out of a 80usd gpu with yac.
689  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / GPUs and FPGAs replace ASICs was Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: April 17, 2014, 12:01:08 PM
Hey,

I do not understand the discussion in here. Very soon, ASICs are history and replaced with GPUs and FPGAs. So where is the big deal ?

Conan

What on earth are you talking about?

About that GPUs and FPGA are faster then ASICs, they do not tell you so you can buy the ASICs like sheeps on the way to be slaughted.
Pure shovelselling.

Conan

I think his English is not the best and he implies that a gpu and fpga is a better buy.
We all know a gpu is not faster at sha256 compared to an asic, but with the way btc diff progresses I wouldn't buy into any of these sha miner pre orders, even the bitmain is too darn expensive based on mining profitability.
690  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ASIC-RESISTANT] UltraCoin (UTC) - Ultrafast 6 second transactions!! on: April 17, 2014, 04:19:44 AM
@TheStuhlman  Just turn down nitro1 and nitro2 for a few weeks to develop the habit of mining in other pools.

spam much?  6 out of the last 9 replies are yours... you only need to reply once.

I think Stuhlman has gone above and beyond to try to rectify what the community refuses to do itself.  Harming himself financially to the extent he already has  to assist UTC is more than he needed to do.  If you want to pay his bills and put the money he'll be losing into his pocket for him to shut down for a week, PM him, make him an offer.... let us know what he says!

+1, the guy can't do much more without hurting his business a lot more than he already has.

People need to be more responsible, but greed is strong, and so is lazyness.

I have created a rough draft of a community guide/protocol for future "algorithm switching events". I need the community's input on protocol specifics so we can reach consensus on what to do long before it's needed. I think this is the most appropriate solution and it may be used for reference material.

http://www.reddit.com/r/myriadcoin/comments/235c00/myriad_community_protocolguidelines_for_an/

Amazing! gonna check it out.

Only issue I get is that AMD Catalyst sometimes crashes, but the miner keep mining fine. I don't get that with the other XPM miner.

Unstable clock settings or failed bios flash.

The other miner isn't pushing your system as hard.

697  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ASIC-RESISTANT] UltraCoin (UTC) - Ultrafast 6 second transactions!! on: April 15, 2014, 08:43:40 AM
pos should be per block instead of per year.
remove pow and make it just pos.
make block time 6 seconds
and 0.195 utc per block
and minimum transaction fee 0.01 or 0.005 ultracoin.

all PoW is is a lottery system where you have more lottery tickets if you have better and more hardware.
all it does is process transactions by leaving computer running. the difficulty and algorithm solving and all that extra power wasting is just wasted and needs bad money supply to make the incentive to run.

same transactions can be processed using PoS in a way where it gives people who have their computer open incentive to keep their wallet open to secure the network and process transactions every block.
that version of PoS is more secure than PoW.

if ultracoin changes to this form of PoS then there is no need for money supply more than 1 million utc a year.

cap utc maximum coins at 35 million and now there is 12.5 million so it will take 17 years for coins to run out, make block time 6 seconds, add 1 million added each year, which would mean about 2807 utc a day, or 0.195 utc per block(6 seconds)
these will be distributed to the people that have their wallet open which secures the network and processes transactions in a lottery fashion where you have more lottery tickets depending on how many utc you have in your wallet. to make it more decentralized make it so each computer can only use 20,000 stakecoins for the pos. if you have more coins then you will need to have more than 1 computer running. this will protect the network even more and make the money supply distributed

add scrypt and sha256 mining multipool that pays out in utc.
and people who want to buy utc with their mining hardware and electricity can do it by mining at the multipool and this ensures that utc is always profitable

everyone wins in this. past utc buyers and holders and future buyers and holders win equally because this helps the coin itself.

Also add more features to utc like Encrypted or unencypted messaging system between wallets,
Betting on an outcome of something using feeds, User created assets and Distributed asset exchange, Hardware wallet and payment proccessing solution, Decenteralized altcoin call and put options exchange with multi-chain support.

we all deserve to be wealthy and utc deserves to be in the top 3 coins

Now, I'm not an expert but this guy has some good ideas...if you combine this with the current state of the coin you get Yacoin lol
NO really, it would be interesting to merge both PoW and PoS in this fashion, I don't think many are going to hold coins for PoS at the current rate.
698  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [MYR] Myriad - Multi Algo - REQUIRED UPDATE 0.8.99.8 on: April 15, 2014, 12:34:52 AM
Huh Huh Huh Huh
Anyone know why I am getting anned from stablehash groestl pool...
Been minig there for a month, and now this shit... it just says all the time: worker temporarily banned!

Might be related to the share hacks...I'd mine somewhere else meanwhile.

700  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: KNC Miner [NEPTUNE 3000GHS] GROUP BUY ALL SOLDOUT on: April 14, 2014, 08:50:40 PM
Didn't KnC always say Q1/Q2?
I don't really see what has changed, so I say keep it.

Read the kncminer thread, they are screwing people over, will probably get delayed further, they are giving them the chance for a refund or a 3th/s franken-miner thing with older tech, which isn't that good of a deal.

Meanwhile they are mining and getting like 500k usd a day, with the pre-order money.
I wouldn't invest in them anymore, they broke their promise (network protection plan), and I seriously doubt they'll deliver Titan miners on schedule (if at all!)

Right now, only asic I'd buy would be the gridseed 5 chip miners, which can be found in stock for 125usd if you look hard enough.
