701  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How Casino make money on Poker on: October 08, 2023, 10:01:24 PM
It's mostly rake, isn't it? I haven't experienced an hourly charge (well at least in the past before) so it's a rather new thing for me. I reckon they'd profit off of it more plus players can much more easily leave the game whenever they want without wasting any money in scenarios where fees are charged by the hour.

The question you are trying to ask in this discussion is quite interesting. Basically a casino is a place of entertainment, but thanks to the question you asked, it seems like this can change my thinking that a casino is a business that needs to make money from its customers to be able to make a profit.

And if we talk about the profits obtained by the casino as a provider of gambling facilities, it is quite large and this is also comparable to the taxes that must be paid so that the casino's operating license can continue. However, if you look at the type of poker game, the profits obtained by the casino are not that big compared to other types of games. Because the profit they get from the game is only from renting tables, exchanging chips and from a tournament if the casino organizes it to keep it full of visitors.
But they are a business? A business where entertainment is being offered so naturally they have some sort of form or method to earn profit. House Edge is the number one example of that. In addition, it's more of a quantity thing rather than a quality thing. They offer their services to a huge number of users instead to a small amount of rich users so even if you consider how one single game, in this instance poker, only generates a small amount, in the entire day it can be rather substantial if we assume that it's always filled with players.
702  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is regulation of cryptocurrency exchanges essential for mass adoption? on: October 08, 2023, 12:05:36 PM
~
Most likely. A lot of people who aren't tech-knowledgeable probably haven't even heard of crypto, let alone know about it. Regulation would help on that since the government is basically creating some laws and regulations that create a fallback for people who don't know jack about it, making it less likely to fall to a scam plus normalizing a process through a regulated exchange that the government has publicly accepted or something similar.

In the first place, a lot of people who are into crypto are investors, so they do research about what it is and how to use it. You can't exactly expect other people to do the same when they just want to use a currency, especially in this case where fiat exists and is accepted by all.
703  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What can happen next time due to a lack of proper knowledge about Bitcoin? on: October 08, 2023, 04:31:52 AM
~
This lies on the "IF" idea that crypto would dominate the world. And even if it did, it doesn't take into account that there's a huge gap in time between the now and the then instance of this happening. All of the factors OP said pretty much involve ignorance of what crypto is. Said gap in time is more than enough imo for people to learn crypto if the world was actually swerving towards to using it for the majority of transactions.

If it was idk, late 19s or something then it might be hard, but even now you'd be hard-pressed to find someone who would have a hard time learning the basics of something they want if they needed to, but now? The internet itself helps a lot already, imagine what other types of helpful tools can be developed by the time that crypto is deemed as necessary, if ever.
704  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: One seed, One casino game. Superstitious or Not? on: October 08, 2023, 12:38:56 AM
~
Most likely superstitious imo. There's afaik no way to prove whether it really works, most people just do it because of the "feel" for it or something similar. Otherwise, the casino would be damned since just "resetting" the seed to increase the chance means that the game itself has factors involved that are manipulable by the game. Who knows, it might not just stop at seeds at that point and may have other factors that players can artificially manipulate.

Kinda funny how a seed that's supposed to be proof of provabaly fair is being used to increase their chances when the action of "increasing their chances" goes against provably fair itself.
705  Economy / Gambling / Re: make some developments related gambling on: October 07, 2023, 09:44:32 AM
i would give some suggestion to make developments related  gambling up to that time

Online Gambling Online gambling continued to grow in popularity, with a wide range of casino games, sports betting, poker, and other forms of gambling available on the internet. .

Also Mobile gambling apps and websites became increasingly prevalent, allowing users to place bets and play casino games on their smartphones and tablets. The convenience of mobile gambling contributed to its expansion
countries make some positive work in this process to regulating online gambling to ensure consumer protection and generate tax revenue
Is there even a need for it? Does someone know how much interest Gen Z has in gambling? And possibly group them based on the type of game. I honestly believe gambling is fine for a few more decades, a lot of games, simple as they are, have lasted for a really long time without the need for change, and I don't think that's going to change anytime soon. If there was, it'd only be some minor changes at most with the core gameplay still being the same and simple as it was. Even the expansion from pc to mobile/web only happened to accommodate the rapid expansion of devices itself.
706  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Lottery with a twist on: October 07, 2023, 12:53:09 AM
~
Hmm, random distribution huh.. shouldn't there be a minimum and a maximum instead? The allure of a lottery is that they pay for a ticket that is a hundred or thousand times lower than the maximum prize that they can get, so there's actually something to look forward to, regardless of the chances that you'd get. If the prizes were random, it may come across to them that the price isn't anything big at all, especially since the prize is split instead of a single (or two, three) winners.

There's the issue of trust and stuff like that, but you should probably fix the idea first imo. Adding twists is fine, but leave the thing that most lottery users want alone. You'd probably lose more than gain more.
707  Economy / Economics / Re: I am forgetting the value of money. on: October 06, 2023, 04:15:53 PM

I think this happened to me when I was suddenly able to receive pretty big money in a constant 2 months or so? It really pushed my sense of money off, to the point where even after I stopped receiving that amount, my mindset was still along the lines of "oh, I should buy this, probably can" when it's way out of budget. I think the best method was to, well, just manage it properly. For me that first experience enabled me to adapt the next time it happened (when I entered the workforce). It also helped that after that, well, I started paying bills, food budget and stuff like that. I had to manage my money (the first time, well, I didn't).
708  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How has a crypto payment gateway impacted your business growth? on: October 06, 2023, 11:16:18 AM
~
The thing is, crypto doesn't necessarily broaden the customer base since almost the majority, if not all already of people are able to use major official methods. Even my first instance of crypto (which thank god existed back then) was to purchase an in-game currency, and since I was below 18, I had no access to credit cards or bank accounts so I had to use crypto instead. That was back then. Now? You can probably expect even 11, or 12-year-olds to have e-wallets (Gcash for example in the PH) that they can easily use.

Maybe if the implementation of crypto were to increase in the future, then it wouldn't really be impossible, but as of now? Unless you're an enthusiast I don't think there's much sense in employing work force to develop it.
709  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A Lady Cried After Losing to Sports Bet. Gambling is Not Your Mate. on: October 05, 2023, 11:00:15 PM

It's kind of funny though, someone posted her TikTok here so I went to check and she had some videos about "thinking about her future" or something along those lines, then a few videos after here we go. Not really something you'd consider when you're "thinking" of the future. There's also some stuff about suicide I think so really, what she needs here isn't to post to social media crying about losing money to gambling, she needs a therapist. Not exactly the kind of combination you want in your life, gambling + suicidal thoughts.

Kinda confusing as well why she even posted it as a TikTok video. Like why even?
710  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Hardwork pays not luck! on: October 05, 2023, 09:54:10 PM
I am a person who never won any lottery but when dedicated to working on something, I get an ample amount of money. In 2018 when I started working as a Bounty hunter(as the secondary job of course), After two three years I came to know how much money I had earned which I would not have earned doing an office job for 10 years. Here the game turned. Seeing so much money in my hand, suddenly I saw everywhere when traders were earning thousands of dollars doing cryptocurrency trading. It was like the grass is always green on the other side. As mentioned earlier, due to overconfidence and not following risk management, lost some portion of the money that I earned through bounties. Now I have realized that I must work hard and that too with dedication, then only I can have a good earning status. Just to iterate, working as a bounty hunter or trading in cryptocurrency was never my primary source. Still, I am working in a tech company and getting monthly salaries.
But wouldn't you consider finding out about bounty hunter jobs as "luck"? Sure, hard work made it possible to earn from it, but luck on the other hand can introduce to you various opportunities, so really, they just go hand in hand. Hard work makes it so that opportunities you get are not lost, and luck is that factor that can make said hardwork (or anything you do) noticeable to something (or you notice something instead) kind of thing.

Trading involves more on the luck side imo, hard work can only get you to about breaking even imo, minimizing loss, and stuff like that. Even when you work hard to analyze the market, it's not exactly a guarantee that things will go the way you expect it to be after all.
711  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I can't keep up with the High gas fees on: October 05, 2023, 11:54:40 AM
What do you think would be a solution to this not everyone would be able to keep up with this especially in everyday transactions?
Is it a necessity for you to pass transactions at that moment when the gas fee is at its highest (or around it)? If not then time it instead. Maybe create (or hire someone to make it) a bot that can automatically transfer your coins when the gas fees are at their lowest. Trying out other networks as well might work out on your end. I haven't experienced such high fees though, at least if you compare it to that period where fees were insanely high (and the reason why I just straight out stopped trading and started hodling some of my coins).

It's probably not practical if you're going to transfer coins with low volumes in large amounts though (for some reason). You'd probably get hit with too much fees, regardless whether said fee is high or not really.
712  Economy / Economics / Re: Women are more economical than men. on: October 04, 2023, 10:54:27 PM
We had this argument where I was the opinion that most men spend money on things that they are obligated to and cannot control it at times due to responsibilities, men are used to spending money already and because of being used to it, they can find it hard to be as economical as women can be. Do you agree with this unpopular opinion that women are more economical when it comes to money and are able to manage themselves and their homes better than men do?
Not really I think? I mean if we were talking about majority vs. minority, then maybe, but if you were to say that most economic men lose out to your average woman, then millionaires wouldn't be males, they'd be females. Imo it's natural for someone to plan out their expenses, whether they be male or female. I think it just naturally switched over to females after a decade or so of being together due to the natural shifting of responsibilities in a family. Outside of the context of a family, I think both are rather equal, it's just a matter of capabilities at that point regardless of gender.
713  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Pillow Fight League on: October 04, 2023, 10:08:42 PM
After we saw the SlapFight Championship which had a lot of buzz on social media and also raised concerns about the safety of fighters or in a better term: slappers, it was a known topic of discussion between both supporters and others against it. Today, while I was surfing and watching some videos I came across a video of pillow fighting between two tough guys in a ring the thing that made me search for more information. Surprisingly, I found out that they also have a championship and there's already the first professional international pillow fighting sports association which means it’s officially a sport.
I don't see it as bad as slapping but it might be a bit boring for us to watch because it seems nearly impossible to knock your opponent out or for judges to determine a winner unless they decide to put rocks inside the pillows (just kidding).

What are your thoughts on this new sport, Do you think we might see it in sportsbooks anytime soon?
Kind of boring if I imagine it, might be different if I watch it though (also pillows with rocks, damn that's savage). Honestly, the slapfight competition was enjoyable. It was thrilling in itself since you know when the slap would be done and the reaction doesn't even have to be exaggerated, just their natural reactions is more than enough to show how much power each slap has, which is why it was good. Pillow fighting though? Hmm unless they put some twist into it I don't think it's that good.

Also who determines whether an activity is a sport or not? Just the creation of an association around it? I'd much rather consider it as a small scale tournament than an official sport immediately tbf.
714  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have You Ever Made Such Mistake Before, But Won still? on: October 04, 2023, 11:22:07 AM
I was like wow 😍, with $0.5 cents for two numbers, what I normally won if one of those numbers played is $4, but if both numbers I choose plays, I win $8, but this time, I saw that I won $28, I was like how come? I began inspecting and discovered that my bet was not $0.5 cent, but $3.50 dollars, I was like what the heck, a mistake that turned sweet for me 😋😋.

So by this experience, I am moved to ask you guys if any one of you have ever made such a mistake, but it turned out in your favor? Please share with us.
Would've rather been a very confusing moment if you didn't notice that you bet 3.5 lmao. I've personally had a few fuckups before which, kind of is a mix? I've had instances where I both got lucky or not. In dice, mostly when I'm drowsy as hell (but for some reason kept playing), I kept pressing the wrong one, so instead of betting HI I bet LO and vice versa. Same thing with crash sometimes, I just often slip up and click stop immediately when the plan is not to. Nothing too big though. I sure wish I made a slipup when I bet on some of the most famous teams vs dark horses, would've been a great cashout.
715  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Before you take sides on: October 03, 2023, 11:27:12 PM
~
Well it's usually because of ToS or something that they get banned. Their being banned due to "winning too much" is probably either A, a misunderstanding, or B, just them wanting to brag but they know the real reason why they got banned. I myself have never experienced such issues/problems after all, so I reckon it's all on them instead of anything else in reality. There might be some casinos that do that though but without any real prior proof or the casino themselves (or an insider) being transparent about it, innocent till proven guilty.

You'd honestly find it hard to look for, not just gamblers but anyone who has received negative experiences to be completely honest about what they did. I mean look, even people lie to emergency medical staff to keep their pride, what more to random people on the internet.
716  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 95% of NFTs have a market cap of zero on: October 03, 2023, 11:03:37 PM
~
Does it mean NFT is a scam sector of crypto market, or is their concept good, but the execution of the projects are wrecking everything? Is it still possible for NFTs to recover their credibility?
Imo concept is good, but the way it was used pushed the market into, well, using it that way instead. I know a few NFT's that are really really good, I have a few artists who I follow sell NFTs and they're priced worthy of their beauty/detail but due to how minor they really are, they aren't noticed and used as much as compared to...well, monkeys. Sad to say but a market driven by its consumers would be swayed by what the majority of its consumers do, and I don't think I'd need to elaborate what kind of shitfest it resulted.

And no, I'd say nfts are dead. There might be minor ones out there that are using it for how it's supposed to be, but yea in general I'd say it's dead. If it ever went up again, it'd probably start from zero and with another name instead.
717  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will the Gambling Sportybet (Company) Refund the Money? on: October 03, 2023, 09:55:07 PM
~
Dumb decisions bring you dumb results. It's not a matter of what you hope to fix by doing that. Sure, if you suddenly killed off half of the world, wouldn't the other half have better opportunities, space, food, etc.? Would you do it? That would be no, cause you'd probably die first, maybe second. There can be a ton of solutions for a problem with varying methods, and it's up to you to filter out dumb ones from that, regardless of whether you want to help someone or not.

I highly doubt casinos would offer a refund, the image already says it all. They RARELY do refunds, if ever at all. They're a business, not a charity. In the first place, it was the kid's mistake for gambling when he was below 18. It might be grounds for a legal punishment on his side if it ever went to that. If it involved KYC, then boy the one who's identity was used may even be included in the punishment as well.
718  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will you gamble till old age or not on: October 02, 2023, 09:49:40 PM
~
It depends. I mean, if my passion for other stuff dies out, who knows? Gambling is much more accessible now compared to the past after all so even in old age, one can easily get access to casinos that you can play in. There also aren't any restrictions, plus if you manage to get the idea of gambling in your head when your old, I reckon you have a lot of money for your retirement fund. If not, well, I don't think I ever will, I'd just probably plant a garden or something realistically. The idea is basically out there, just depends on whether I'd grab it though.

Kinda curious, where did 42 come out? Is there a meaningful reason or did you just throw out a relatively middle-aged number there?
719  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Casino security - What changed since 2017 Las Vegas attack? on: October 02, 2023, 10:49:29 AM
~
Do you think security measures in Casinos and Resorts got tougher since this massacre took place?
Would be as easy as it was back in 2017 to bring dozens of weapons and ammo up to the 32th floor of a resort nowadays?

If you were in charge of a casino, what would you do to curb the risk of something like this ever happening again?
I'd say it depends still. Even with security in place, as long as an insider agrees to cooperate then things can be done way too easily. Everything from cameras to guard methods is, in the end, handled by humans. It's way too easy to say temporarily turn off cameras if they can get assistance from an insider, and the same with patrol areas and the like. Not to mention that even with security measures improving, you can say attack measure also improved.

The least I'd do would probably set up traps. While it's hard to determine how to stop something you don't know, it's rather easy to setup a blockade/trap when you know it already happened. Sad to say though this can lead to a lot more people being implicated since the plan is to deal with it AFTER, not before.
720  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is a 20% Annual Return good ? on: October 01, 2023, 11:13:16 PM
With my experience in the cryptocurrency market, I decided to develop a short-term Bitcoin spot trading strategy using the TradingView platform and its strategy programming tool. I managed to create a strategy that yields an average annual return of 20% according to backtesting. My question is, is this return acceptable, or in your opinion, what would be an acceptable or good return?
It's good. I say anything above your capital is good enough and can be considered as a success already, anything past that is just a bonus. Even more so if this was a stable annual return (which I doubt, but hey who knows), heck even a 10% stable return is more than enough to be called a success imo.

I'd say judge it for yourself still though, 20% may look small if your capital was small in the first place so you might not really feel it. Depends on how you feel about it, but with a smaller capital I'd rathe risk it for possible bigger gains.
