701  Economy / Economics / Re: Has anything been a good hedge against a financial crisis? on: March 22, 2019, 01:07:12 PM
I know gold hasn't been doing too good the last few years but I still think its a good hedge against other investments.  Gold is one of the few things that has held value for thousands of years.  It won't grow much but it will still be extremely stable over a long period of time.
702  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How many of you are GPU only miners? on: March 22, 2019, 12:57:52 PM
GPU only is for pussy´s XD sorry little joke  Cheesy

I ran up to 5 different miners on 1 rig and on some other rigs 3 different or more. We use every computerpart that can mine (GPU, CPU, HDD)

But i hate ASICS  Cheesy

I basically mine 2 GTX 1060TI 6GB in nicehash part-time only. If I close the internet cafe, I run it on my server. It is okay for me because I don't pay for electricity.
Someone pays for that electricity, nothing is free.
That's the reality if you don't pay for the electricity, someone's going to pay the bill. Who's the one that pays for that?

A lot of people have subsidized electricity.  Don't say nothing is free, government hands out money like its candy.  Aid to foreign countries, money to farmers, military contractors.  They essentially just print worthless banknotes for free to get what they want.
703  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Avoid losing money with bitcoins on: March 22, 2019, 12:54:18 PM
Hi

I am wondering if there is some sort of site where you can exchange your bitcoins easily to real money or idk what and transfer back so you can avoid if btc drops.

Thanks
It is easy to exchange your bitcoin into real money, there are already a lot of sites that can offer that and even some of the bitcoin wallets now can offer us that. And what do you mean from transferring back to avoid if btc drops? Do you mean transferring back your real money to btc? If you need to transfer your money back to btc, there is no way to do that, you need to buy another set of your bitcoin again.

You can even find many buyers and sellers right here on this forum in the currency exchange section.  If you find trusted members you are completely safe sending first.  Then you will end up paying less fees as well considering how much exchanges charge for trading and the withdraw fee.
704  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's the best resources to learn about Bitcoin? Non-tech friendly on: March 22, 2019, 12:49:02 PM
The amount of useful information on this forum alone is immense.  There are a lot of great threads if you go back and look at past pages.

Youtube is also filled with valuable videos, you can find videos on nearly every topic imaginable.
705  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ‘Bitcoin Is Not Money’ Because We Cannot Print It – Banks on: March 20, 2019, 04:46:13 PM
Money is whatever people decides holds value.  Doesn't matter what it is, seashells, gold, beanie babies, paper.  Currency is just a faith based system.  Fiat is a complete scam but most people are too stupid to realize or lack any real fight to go against the banks.
706  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcoin Dice - why do you play in a particular casino? on: March 20, 2019, 04:40:45 PM
The most important things to me are customer service and how trustworthy the casino is.  I don't want to be left in the dark when I need assistance.  I'm hesitant to use any new gambling service until it establishes itself.  There is just too much risk on using a new casino when there are lots of reputable ones available.
707  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How many of you are GPU only miners? on: March 20, 2019, 04:22:41 PM
Most people are scared to buy ASIC miners and I don't blame them.  At least GPUs hold somewhat of a resale value when  if you decide to sell them in the future.  Asics just become a doorstopper after a few years.  Also there are only a few option with asic miners and many people do not want to support bitmain financially.
708  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoiners now labelled as Right-wing extremists! LoL on: March 20, 2019, 04:13:25 PM
Media is doing the same thing with guns.  They find people using guns/bitcoin for evil purposes then label the whole thing as evil.  These things are simply tools while humans are the operators with intent.

People stand to lose a lot of money that are invested in traditional finance like credit card companies if crypto becomes truly successful.
709  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If BTC Dominance will drop to 40%, what will happen? on: March 20, 2019, 03:06:39 PM
There was a point when ethereum was very close to bitcoin's marketcap and it may happen again in the future.  Many experts think this flip will happen as Eth gains even more adoption.  You can't go wrong with either, and its clear that btc/eth are the two most accepted cryptos for payments.
710  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New Bitcoin Movie “Crypto” Shows Hollywood’s Total Misguidedness on: March 17, 2019, 04:54:11 PM
Just more hollywood garbage that is trying to capitalize off the latest trend.  This will be filled with so much negative propaganda and straight out lies about crypto.  Do yourself a favor and do not go see this movie and don't even speak about it to others.  We need to boycott this trash.
711  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Merit "trading" - buying and selling Bitcointalk merit on: March 17, 2019, 04:46:17 PM
Hi guys,
I agree that it would be much more spammy here without a system like merit, and that trading merit per se is not something good. I'm currently looking forward to become a Junior Member and just wonder how often it happens that someone actually gives merit to someone else? Is that only done for exceptionally good posts? Not looking into detailed stats, just wondering what my chances are. Wink

Its just as bad as before and it may have even gotten worse.  Merit did nothing to counter spam, it just encourages more shady behavior because now people have some type of black market currency they can also trade.  I wish we had the old system back because I believe the merit system is truly broken.  I see many great posters go un merited and it just seems wildly unfair.
712  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Soulja Boy invests in bitcoin on: March 17, 2019, 04:32:25 PM
People keep clowning on soulja boy but at least he is enjoying his life.  He was never a good rapper but he was able to make catchy songs for the masses.  He seems like an intelligent guy that is actually quite knowledgeable about technology and science.
713  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Demo trading Platforms... Do you know any? List them here. on: March 17, 2019, 03:49:57 PM
Demos are useful but it can never compare to the real thing.  You will not react the same when real money is on the line because your human emotions will effect your decision making.  People use bots to disable all emotion and they still make very little money or end up with nothing.
714  Economy / Economics / Re: Can bitcoin be worthless? on: March 17, 2019, 03:36:54 PM
All that matters is how much someone is willing to pay for something.  Bitcoin may be useless for someone but incredibly useful for someone without a bank.

I laugh at all the people that call bitcoin worthless but I'm sure they wouldn't say no to some free bitcoins if some were given to them.
715  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Tether: dollar reserve holdings may not be there on: March 17, 2019, 03:30:58 PM
Most people already suspect that they don't have enough USD in reserve to back up the number of tether.  We already see how much people lost confidence when USDT went under .95cents when its supposed to be pegged to the dollar.  Tether is still doing huge volume and if there comes a day when it implodes prices will crash greatly as investors lose even more confidence.
716  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Who's your favorite to win this year's Champions League ? on: March 17, 2019, 03:28:00 PM
I'll go with Juventus because Ronaldo looks like he has something to prove this year and is playing like a mad man.

EPL hasn't been strong the last 10 years and have been dominated by Italian and Spanish teams and the trend will continue.
717  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Warren Buffet statement again on: March 17, 2019, 03:22:28 PM
All the respect for Warren, but heis too old to understand Bitcoin and blockchain technology. At least from my perspective his opinion does not matter in the crypto space. Bitcoin will flow to its destiny with or without Buffet's "approval". Also he might criticize BTC just to influence the price in some way. Create some kind of panic, but Idk who would dump his/her bitcoins due to dinosaur's "advice".

Crypto isn't that difficult to udnerstand,  warren is heavily invested in banks and trditional financial companies.  He stands to lose a lot of money for his investors if crypto continues to grow.  I'm not sure what even heekps this guy going, I think any sane person would be fine with a few billion.
718  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Hodler, you motherfucker. on: March 16, 2019, 08:12:45 PM
Trading is a losing game for the majority of people.  If people all took your advice then the possible profits to made would shrink to practically nothing just like how the stock market became super efficient.  The truth is holding is a valid strategy for the majority of people that don't want the constant stress of day trading.
719  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do You Believe Bitcoin Will Rise Again? on: March 16, 2019, 07:22:09 PM
Do You believe will be a sunrise again?..

Come on , I get your point but don't compare that with bitcoin.   Sun has been rising for all of mankinds history.  We can't just assume bitcoin will be like that.

I do think it will rise and I'm sure most people on this forum believe this as well evne though many of them are straight dumpers and only care about fiat.
720  Economy / Speculation / Re: People who bought BITCOIN at $1000 are now starting to sell, CCN article writes on: March 16, 2019, 03:23:22 PM
Don't be like these guys. Rebirth of Bitcoin is coming like a Phoenix. Just remember my words.

The problem is people aren't willing to hold through all the dips especially new investors.  Past charts tell us is all you have to do is hold and it pays off greatly in the end.  Bitcoin hitting 20k from current prices is a 5x return on investment which is spectacular compared to normal investments.
