Hmm. I just saw the table and there's actually not much between me and relegation play off. Thought I'd be safe but now it looks quite, quite, near. My luck in gambling/betting hasn't been great in this young year, so I better work my socks off for this round to guarantee a stay in Div1. Bad luck to you, mv1986! You don't need the points, so cough them up for me, won't ya?

P.S. Playoff question has Girona instead of Granada Wink

P.P.S. I'm personally rooting for jeremypwr, darxiaomi and slaman29 -- I feel like life is incomplete without you...
702  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Odds, units advantage | Sportsbook | +93999 units on: February 05, 2024, 05:13:05 PM
I agree about City, the odds for Brentford to win at 7 is just ridiculous. The team literally scores a point per game on average and they are so greedy not to give odds of 10+?  Huh
I'm not sure about betting on Liverpool vs Arsenal away, because Arsenal are also good. I think here you are acting as a fan and not as a bettor  Wink
The most important thing is that the game does not end in a draw (in favor of City).

Yeah, bookie greed, and I'm surprised as the markets must be so lopsided now on City to win and inch closer to the top with games in hand. Full strength squad. And yet the odds aren't really dropping? I still put some freebet money on Brentford, for a boosted odds of just about 83/10.

Impossible to find value these days really with City.

You were right in the end, as were the oddsmakers. Arsenal were the better team, fully deserved win. I put myself in the hole with that one didn't I?
703  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🚀-Sportsbet.io-🚀 Official Partner of Newcastle United Football Club on: February 05, 2024, 04:00:25 PM
Did I say I'm not betting against Brentford because of the poor value? Still accurate, I'm not putting money down on that. But I didn't say I wouldn't put a freebet down on it, did I?

Ivan Toney, make this something to remember. Haaland's back. KdB's back. Uphill task but we love Brentford tonight.

704  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🌍⚽Sportsbet.io AFCON 2024 prediction pool discussion thread on: February 04, 2024, 07:27:57 PM
Four matches to go, and we still have a chance to see a new winner (South Africa). These guys are my betting favourites in qualification, but all my other favs are now out, so I will probably continue betting on them with good odds -- Nigeria are the freshest team in the whole tourney, never played a single minute of ET, so I feel like they have the biggest advantage.

Not sure I like DR Congo, only 1 win, but they will fancy taking any team to penalties. In the last 2 AFCON wins, they also did so by knocking out the hosts, so they will like that bit of history going for them. Ivory Coast aren't going to let that happen easily though and also have their own history. Their ET win was their first since 1992 -- which they also won their last AFCON.

Loving this edition, I'm shit elsewhere. See you losers on Wednesday. My picks: Nigeria wins, DR Congo runners up, S Africa 3rd place.

705  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Sportsbet.io ⚽ Bundesliga ⚽ Football Pool Discussion Thread 2023/2024 on: February 04, 2024, 05:38:06 PM
Half-time frustration from elsewhere, so where else do I go but the pool I've got no complaints about? Haha

Darmstadt should be a win for Leverkusen any time but M'Gladbach has history making headlines against Bayern, mostly at home, but maybe they can do something in Munich too

have a good round Smiley

Turned out to be another bad round for me. Just can't seem to pick the right side in close games between the bottom half. Support Werder, they lose, support Mainz, they can't win. Gladbach magic vs Bayern seems to have vanished. Sad.

P.S. I just found out I missed a moment in MD19 when Union ushered in the first woman manager (she only stood in because Bjelica was suspended) in Bundesliga. 100% record haha.

2-2 is often the toughest scoring draw to go for, but if there is about 4 minutes plus stoppage time left and it looks like you've hit the nail right on the head on that one, except there is a latest plot twist there.

Suppose it shores up my bad performance thus far. Need more exacts like this to pull me back up into Top 10 though...
706  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: February 04, 2024, 03:58:29 PM
Went against two seeded teams today and got rewarded for Wolves (but really, didn't expect them to score FOUR goals... Cunha hattrick? What planet do we live on?) and punished for doubting United at home. To be fair to myself, Chelsea were actually far more favoured to win by books than United so I sniffed the bigger upset. United have been finding the net now thanks to Hojlund. That 4-3 win and now a statement 3 points from West Ham. ETH will be breathing easy. Poch, not so much.

Haha Trofo's new Chelsea logo looks brilliant. Would have been funnier if Abramovich were still around, but there we have it. They might win the EFL cup though, so hey, not all is lost.

The FA did not let us win the last one, and if you believe they will allow us win this one, you are clearly unaware of what is going on. We're getting Anthony Taylor, and we both know what he does: the only directive given to Anthony Taylor is to not allow them win at all costs. LiVarpool will win the League Cup; it is already written in the sky. Russian Abramovich is gone. I don't see why we're still getting hate. Mourinho claimed years ago that there is a campaign against Chelsea and Abramovich, and everyone thought he was crazy; now we see it.

I never said Mou is crazy, he's absolutely special and absolutely right. I pay weekly membership fees to continue the secret campaign versus Chelski.

But seriously, you're not going to just give up on EFL cup? There's a nice 100,000 GBP prize money. It can help you pay 2/3 of Caicedo's weekly salary!

Slissy owes me a bit for letting him win so easy, I slide down even farther but surely, can lose the next two and still survive in this Div1 craziness? Tonight, I gots me some sweet love on Liverpool, but if they don't win tonight, I'll be quite helpless in betting for the entire month (oops).

Tip of the season; Nigeria - Ivory coast; Nigeria wins. Put your entire savings on this.  AFCON final game prediction.

I was thinking of writing similar but I'll do it in AFCON thread later. Nigeria wins, but it's DRC they'll be meeting in the final is my pick. Of course, RSA will want to kick everyone in the butt and I know bookies will celebrate if that happens!

Damn you Bayern. Leverkusen led twice in the "most goals scored" side-race but Munchen got the final say. Well done Slissy, you really have the advantage now. Just need Liverpool to smash tomorrow and I won't care about this round's results.

Just answered jeremypwr's massive promo. I don't know about you guys but Chiefs have this defence written in the stars. Lucky winner gets to meet Alex too -- Steve's always a fantastic character but very curious about new guy and how many beers he can down.

I still couldn't spend all the money I got from you. We need to stop talking about this topic before the police come after us.

I have no idea what you're talking about. Sorry, do I even know you? Um...

Naked journalists, overzealous body searches. AFCON is fun even off the pitch, isn't it?

Ooo casperBGD, wresting top spot from me. I actually had 1 nil for both games, but changed Nigeria to 2 nil last night after some thought. Still. 2 correct outcomes ain't nothing to sniff at.
If not for the referee's cancellation of Osinhem's goal in the second half because of offside committed, the match would have ended up with 2goals led by the Nigeria team and you would have had your prediction of 2 goals win for the Super Eagles come to pass.

During the start of the second half, many people had predicted the Super Eagle to win by 2 goals because of their performance in the field of play to score additional goals. But since the match ended with a goal victory for the Super Eagle, it is a better result for them than a loss match.

Nah, offside is offside. I get when it's marginal and VAR takes forever but I don't think Osimhen would argue against that. Over a season all these close calls even out anyway I like to think.

Anyway, 6 more games, current one is nil-nil. Crunch time!

Spursy was the start of Saturday, Brighton appears to be doing something to arrest their slump, Newcastle, well -- don't know if that's a stain on them or a shine on Luton!

Everything doesn't matter until tomorrow though...

Some close calls with freebets, Wolves could have turned it around, United's last-min win didn't do me any good with Boca Jrs failing to win...
Did you change your betting strategy, because I dont see many underdog bets? Wink
It sucks when you see this with such low odds, but it happens even to the best players.
I also played on Real Madrid like you, and I am waiting just for Newcastle to win against Luton to win one of my tickets with free bet.

I had the exact same thoughts, like seeing multibets even is not so normal, he always puts on games involving City, Brentford is coming next aren't you gonna put on them? Maybe even check for Betbuilder Brentford + Toney score, might be 20x or something?

Low odds lose as easy as big ones in sports, I mean, I change my betting because of guys like you buway Tongue

Ah no, no, don't worry I'm still doing longshots. These freebets had a 1-day expiry (my fault for not checking), though, and I have been made aware that the 72-hour settlement rule is now strictly enforced -- so I didn't have much to pick from on matches I actually think I knew something about.

GL with Newcastle @notblox1, that seems to be going your way. 1-1 at midway to HT but I think Toon will rule 2nd half.

Brentford are a measly 7/1 @slaman29, I like going against City but even a Betbuilder with Toney is 9/1. I really don't feel any love for those kind of odds.

DR Congo. 4 draws in a row. Barely scraping it through from groups (but impressively against Morocco and Egypt). They will feel pleased for 3 goals.

...and some late, late AFC drama saw Wolves' Hwang get a last-minute injury time equaliser vs Australia... strange game where the Aussies had 7 shots on goal to S Korea's 1 (pen doesn't count, now, come on).

Now waiting for ET and/or penalties to see who joins debutantes Tajikistan in going home early.
715  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Odds, units advantage | Sportsbook | +93999 units on: February 02, 2024, 04:49:56 PM
That did not go wellm but for the odds, I'd take it again and again. Next up for City isn't one I'll take though, only 7/1 for a team not even in the top half? No thanks.

Liverpool, however, face Arsenal once more as the underdogs. It was a beautiful win last time out with over 4/1 odds. Tomorrow it's only 3/1 but we actually feature a stronger lineup so maybe that explains the odds.

I'm still confident of the win and 3/1+ is value so let's try and get Liverpool get us over the line again?

500 units on Liverpool to WIN vs Arsenal @3.26. Other odds: 3.1.
Units advantage: 75

Running advantage after 60 bets: +6419 (+75)

Thank you for that timely reminder cygan, we certainly cannot allow casperBGD to move away too easily. I knew last night I had a lot of picks to make across 4 leagues... somehow I forgot about kicktipp!

Bayern and Leverkusen should win easy tonight but I am counting on Alonso's team to really improve their goal difference.
717  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Africa Football Discussion || Current Topic: AFCON 2023 on: February 01, 2024, 10:24:34 PM
Aye LFC_Bitcoin, let's hope the remaining "favourite" falls (sorry Igebotz) so we can have a true mix of "anyone can win it" in the semis. I know Ivory Coast feels like a fav but they're a shadow of the team they were. Cape Verde, all them Portuguese bitcointalk members could be secretly betting on them?

Have you seen the fee to be offered to every single player in that Angola squad if they get to beat Nigeria? It's worth over 300 million naira if converted to the local Nigerian currency. Bloody hell, that fee is enough motivation for those players. Bank of Angola has triggered them the right way but now they  have to show working on the pitch if they must get all of that reward.

Surely without the fee they'd be already max motivated! I even wonder if it makes them less focused ha
718  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: February 01, 2024, 06:48:11 PM
Nunez created a record tonight too haha. Four woodwork hits in a single game - so frustrating but kept up his 1 goal/assist per 90 minutes, though!
How many chances does he need? He then turns up and scores a worldie from outside the box, it's almost like he doesn't like easy goals.
This really looked ridiculous, so many good chances squandered. But too be fair he is also incredibly unlucky.

The math that Klopp's Liverpool believes in is still correct. Chance conversion is the most difficult to sustain, we have had Liverpool v1 and Spurs, even Arsenal last season to prove this. You can always overperform, but not in the long run. What you can sustain, is chance creation. So as long as Nunez creates chances for himself and his teammates, the math should translate into salvageable points, even if underperforming. And when he overperforms...? Monster.

Need to remind people I'm a Jota lover, Nunez liker. He's not my first pick but I love having him in the mix.

Has any team ever survived 12 against 11 on the pitch? Klopp was very smart in announcing his Liverpool retirement in the middle of the season while the club was leading the league, so the English Var do everything they can to send him packing with a title. Every wrong call went against Chelsea, with two penalties denied and Liverpool receiving one for Jota's dive. Our defenders are getting yellow cards for clean tackles. The players should have some balls and walk off the pitch; they give these English referees a lot of power. It was a terrible robbery, and any LiVarpool fan celebrating is equally shameless  Angry

Yeah, quite a few do. Watford comes to mind haha a few seasons ago breaking our back and leading us to lose a string of games after that. But I know what you mean of course, clubs can buy 11 but that 12th player? Man.

Forgive my shameless celebrations but it was fun watching our teenager turn you guys inside out.
719  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⭐⚽⭐ Sportsbet's Bitcointalk Sports Fanatics League (BSFL) – 10000$ rewards ⭐⚽⭐ on: February 01, 2024, 05:27:54 PM
I have a slight advantage with the ice hockey question, there are 3 Canadian coaches and only 1 coach from the USA. Bayern Munchen will score a lot of goals 4-5 or maybe 6 (3 goals from Harry Kane) while Leverkusen will only score 2-3 goals. As for Arsenal-Liverpool, Saka will score with an assist from Jesus😁😁 But with my luck, everything happens the opposite of what I'm saying now😁😁

Yup! That's one of the less-favoured outcomes I was talking about. It is tight, but I suspect it will be a coinflip either way. Munchen goalfest and Kane hattrick? Phew, not impossible but they had a hard time against injury-hit Augsburg. You never know man Wink

Liverpool had both Jota and Nunez on point in last game, Arsenal had Jesus and Saka... so with our luck, everyone will miss haha.

Shit mannn I knew I would lose answering 2 goals. I knew it, as soon as I saw most of the players submit 3 goals, I was screwed. Sterling, Muydryk, where are you all? And worse, why do you let some unknown teenager score??

Hey hey, Bradley was MOTM in the cup game, and he's as weak a twig as TAA was when he first started. Hope post Klopp guy can also figure out how to toughen him up. Our academy boys are not short of talent and hard running, which is great, but they're always faced with a mountain to climb with brute strength.

Probably up for February, got to relieve some of that bear pressure and buyers will still be in the mood -- but there's always that sneaking feeling that halving cycles aren't quite done yet. And if you believe that, like I do with no tangible reason, then we're still waiting for one painful crash just post-halving.

We're in February so can afford to enjoy some more feel-good sentiment until then.
